This place is a scam. We parked here to hang out for the day. Used the bathrooms - please note that there are no doors on bathroom stalls, but they were clean. We walked around for awhile and came back to get our chairs. But when we came came back to the car it was gone. Our car was towed. There is a man there taking pictures in a red truck of anyone who steps one foot off the park. If you take one step off the park, your car gets towed. This is not posted that you have to remain in the park . Our other friend was out surfing. The Honolulu Towing company was very rude . We had to pay 147 cash to get our car back. There should be signs that say you cannot take one step off the parking lot. This appears to be a tourist and Haoli scam. Basically our car was taken as hostage in less than an hour and we had to do whatever was demanded The sign below should state you cannot step off parking lot or you will be towed. My car died on Waialae in front of Big City Diner last night, and Geico sent Honolulu Towing to the rescue. Although Geico told me the estimated time was one hour, it really only took 20 minutes. I chalk that up to the Tow Driver, Arthur. When he called to say he was on his way, he knew exactly where I was and was very familiar with my mechanic. Arthur - where do I start? He's an absolute artist with his truck and is completely focused on customer service. Also funny as hell, extremely helpful, and a super-nice guy. I had been worried that the car parked directly in front of me would cause a problem for the truck but Arthur just slid in like it was the easiest thing. Nothing was a problem for this guy. He towed my car to Priam's in Pauoa and inserted it into a tiny spot like the professional he is. Overall give Arthur a major, 5 Stars thumbs up, and also really enjoyed his friend Gene. Arthur. You gotta remember that name, okay? Okay. So my car won't start (not the battery, not the alternator 'cuz I got that replaced a couple of days ago) so I call GEICO for a tow and they call Honolulu Towing Co. They'll be there within the hour. I'm at Thomas Square on the Beretania side. It's one way. About an hour later, I see the tow truck and I point to my car as it passes by. He turns the truck around facing the "wrong" way into traffic in order to back the truck's towing mechanism onto the rear wheels. My Miata MX-5 is rear-wheel drive so you tow by keeping the front wheels on the road. My friend Karen is going to give me a ride to Priam's Auto so Arthur takes off with my car in tow. I figure we can beat him to Priam's 'cuz we got a car and Arthur's got a truck. But we get there and he's backing my Miata into a very narrow parking spot with great precision. Pretty speedy and efficient. That's rare. I had just been chilling at the park with friends so I don't have any cash on me. I usually tip for superior service, but I tell Arthur sorry I don't have any cash on me. He says, "You on Yelp?" I say yeah, I'll leave a 4 star. He says, "Five stars!" I say, well you were kinda slow getting to me. But after all is considered, he must have had another gig before getting to mine, and his driving was speedy and incredibly accurate, plus now he knows where I live. So, okay, Five Stars for Arthur. We had the pleasure of having Arthur save our little car from the freeway! He had a great attitude all the way through and brightened our day, considering a crappy start. Most impressive i have to say is how he was able to park our car in a crowded neighborhood with limited space to wiggle. Great depth perception! No dings or oopsies! We got our car towed and immediately went to this company to retrieve it. the men there were completely disrespectful to my friends and I. I am surprised this place has any good reviews. And if you think I'm bitching just Bc that's who I am, feel free to read my other reviews and see how honest I am. To start, I parked on a street after signs saying your car will be towed, thinking it was ok. I had no idea I was in danger. These jerks probably sit in wait Bc I was gone for under 30 min when I came back and couldn't find my car. I asked the guys in the condo and they told me, "yeah this happens all the time Bc it's unmarked," and gave me the phone number Bc there are no signs telling you how to get your car back. So I called, and the lady was pleasant enough on the phone and told me my car was on the way back to their place. When I met it there, the whole thing changed. She was so incredibly condescending and rude. I was nothing but polite Bc I was so flabbergasted at what happened (I am so law abiding I don't recall ever even getting a parking ticket). Not only do these guys take advantage, they do it with a smile and hope you don't check out your car before signing for it (i asked to examine my car before signing the receipt and the woman flipped out and then wouldn't let me pull it in to the light). The car was brought to the lot and they charged me 153 plus the ATM fee because these crooks don't take checks or credit cards. The fees included towing, overtime, mileage, then another fee for it touching their lot. Again, no one is going to be happy having their car towed, but these trashy people take pleasure in it and are condescending and rude about it. Hands down THE WORST. Last night our car got towed from Kapolei to their tow yard located by Loves bakery because we parked in an unmarked parking spot while visiting family. My boyfriend, two babies, and I had to take a $40 Uber there. Instantly upon arrival an "employee/driver" of Honolulu Tow company walks up and starts yelling at our Uber driver to move his car. We haven't even been there for 5 seconds. We didn't even get a chance to open our doors to get out. We WEREN'T parking there. We were simply getting dropped off to pay our hefty fine of $265 so we could get our car, take our kids home, and put an end to this horrible inconvenience of a night. It was almost midnight, that's all we wanted to do. The man (who seemed drunk may I add) kept giving us attitude, then directed his anger toward my boyfriend when my boyfriend tried to defend the Uber driver saying "he's just doing his job, dropping us off, he's leaving right now etc." I started to get angry because I'm just thinking " why is this man attacking us for no reason", so I told the man "you need to RELAX, we just came here to get our car". By then everyone was heated and the tow truck driver told us that he was now going to make my boyfriend, TWO BABIES, and I WAIT to get our car because he just felt like it. I called the police, and in the time it took for them to get there we were all arguing...loudly, two tow truck drivers were "calling" my boyfriend out, he told us that every time he sees our truck he would tow it, I was being call a b**** and a c*** among other things, he was pushing me through the fence, he told us that he would mob us, and f**** Waipahu. All whilst my kids are screaming because they're scared. This was a sh** show. So finally we're able to pay and I had to sign a release form. No receipt was given. NOTHING. In the moment I was so annoyed, worked up, and just wanting to leave that I didn't look at the paper well and just took a picture of it (not smart, idk what I was thinking). Why was I charged $265 when the amount listed only comes out to $215...This company is just a bunch of disgusting crooks and scammers who are taking advantage of the fact that people NEED their cars. These men feel so powerful because they have your possession in their hands and there is nothing you can do about it. Last night was absolutely insane. I would LOVE to speak to whoever owns this company. Something needs to be done ASAP. Also, get this...the tow company contracted to the association I live in is this exact company. I went there to pick up my car and the people working there were so rude and I really had a bad experience. It wasn't like any professional business looking but located in the back of the Loves Bakery and tucked in between worn out houses. I wouldn't have found it without a sign on the wall. The guy was washing a towing car right next to reception where I was standing. I had to wait in between the bunch of tree leaves and the big splash from him. I asked him to wait for a while because I'm getting the splash on me but he kept washing Finally I was done and was told to go through the towing car but it meant I had to walk over a big pool of water. I asked the woman at the reception it's impossible to go through due to the water then she rolled her eyes and asked me "what do you want me to do then? Your car is behind it." The guy caused the flood on my path showed me his feet with slippers and said "I'm walking on the water." I was wearing a descent pair of shoes not slippers..... I had to go over the other side of the towing car and got my car eventually. Its office outside looked really unprofessional and I tried to take a picture to post on yelp so that people come here could get the idea of where they're going however the other 2 guys said "No pictures are allowed to take here!". The guy washing the car finally moved his car ( otherwise I couldn't get out of there) and told me now you could take my picture, go for it! What a bummer.... Signaled and pulled in, signal still on so I could move into the left lanes and head to Waianae. Driver found the need to change lanes and race up beside me and flip me off. The absolute worse service ever & about 1 of the scariest events in my life. I waited for over an hour at the front desk to get my car. I was the only person at the desk & Michelle would not help me at all. She stayed on the phone the whole time I was at the desk. I then asked the 5 guys in the back could they help me but they just laughed & said I must have did something for her not to help then walked off. After about another 20 minute wait still being the only person at the desk Michelle finally acknowledged me. I paid $242.50 for 1 night then waited another 10 minutes before able to go get my car. Next 1 of the tow truck drivers started to yell at me to move my other car but I wasn't able to move because another car was in front of me. I've never felt so out of place before in my life. I totally understand African Americans are not so welcomed here but goodness even without me doing anything at all why be so rude still. I know this is a tow company not paid off likes but it doesn't hurt to still treat people like actual people. I cried the whole ride home after that! Update: about 2 months later here I am dealing with these racist people. The guy towed my car with me standing right beside my car with my keys in my hand. This is now the 4th time. My car is very noticeable & the only kind on this side of the island & the only 1 at my complex ever being towed. As usual front desk rude as ever. I wish I could give negative five stars! This tow company is a SCAM!!!! They towed my car out of my residential visitors parking lot. First off everyone parks there over night, so I guess we randomly got picked on this day. First off the sign that was there with the tow truck info is another tow company that isn't in business anymore. By law a tow truck company cannot tow from a property if their correct information isn't on the sign. That means it is considered stealing. Anyone can take your car and say they are a tow truck company. So, they are not following city guidelines. 2nd, we get there and the old Auntie who can barely see us, chatting on the phone to her friend while we sat in front of her for 30 mins in the dark at some shady street corner. It was like something out of Texas Chain Massacre. My car is the only car in the lot which is shady. She finally acknowledges us with a great amount of attitude. She looks at me and tells me the ATM is inside her office. She lets us in , I retrieve my money to pay her. I stand by her desk to pay her, she pushes me and yells don't come so close to me! Mind you I have a mask on and she doesn't. I told her to never put her hands on me again. "You are not professional at all!" She laughs and snatches my money. I've never in my entire life seen such a shady, unprofessional establishment in my life! I seriously got man handled by an 80 yr old lady with lots of mouth and attitude. They also charged me for the mileage from Hawaii Kai to by the airport. I'm shocked they are in business! They need to be shut down!!!!! Super shady!!!! I hate leaving negative reviews. Very challenging week and suddenly my car overheats with radiator fluid leaking out on the road. On busy Kalākaua ave with 5:00 pm traffic. Luckily was able to pull next to a fire hydrant and driveway. I was also on crutches and I thought what a bad spot for a tow truck to have to negotiate. I even imagined having to push my car out when the tow truck arrived. Anyway the tow truck driver arrived earlier than his eta and I was getting ready to help push my car out but the driver quickly stopped traffic, reversed almost parallel with my car and got the front end connected and lifted up without even getting out of his truck. Took less than 30 seconds. I was amazed and started to hurry with my crutches to my girlfriends car so we could follow. The driver yells to me to slow down and take my time as he blocked the traffic so I could get into my rides car safely. We got to my house and he maneuvered my car into a tiny space in my driveway. Ok....didn't use Honolulu Towing by choice, so can't say I will never use them again. BUT I can say that I would not refer Honolulu Towing ever. First let me say that it was our fault for parking where we were parked. When I heard the alarm, we ran out to the car and the guy just hooked up the vehicle and jumped in the truck. Even though he should have dropped the car FOR FREE...he starts driving off and says to call the office. So instead of trying to get ran over or fight with the driver...we just let the car go. I call the office and talk to a lady who apparently had no idea what she was talking about. After a few minutes of going around and around, we decided to just go down to Honolulu Towing. Get there and tried to explain the statues to the lady that answered the phone AGAIN....got nowhere. Had no choice to pay to get the car. It wasn't funny then, but thinking of it now makes me laugh. Trying to pay and it's cash only. Lady: we don't take credit card but we have an atm that does. ??? So standing in front of the ATM trying to get money for a few minutes, wasn't working so tried another card while this lady watches us trying to figure out what the heck is wrong...she FINALLY decides to tell us it's probably not working still. I thought we might have been on one of those reality shows where they jump out and yell....gotcha! Anyways, we had to go to an actual working ATM and get money. And when we went back they said we needed to get the registration from the car and out of curiosity we asked why....her response: "BECAUSE THAT'S THE LAW" I know she was mocking us but it was so hilarious. For those of you that don't know: If you arrive and the tow truck is in the process of hooking up your vehicle or already has it hooked up. You may order the tow truck driver to unhook your vehicle, provided the tow truck has not moved into traffic. You will not be charged anything. By law there is no "drop charge" to unhook your vehicle. These guys towed my car after I left it in a charging stall on king street. I have an electric car and plugged it in while I grabbed some chicken from Canes. I was literally gone for three minutes. I come back upstairs to see my car being towed!! Darn. I try to explain that I plugged my car in and didn't realize the charger didn't activate, but the guy wasn't having it. Bummer of an experience and the company only takes cash. Charged me for a lot of dumb fees like the MuLtI LeVeL parking structure fee of 30$ because the car was parked upstairs in a garage! One of the worst experiences with a company, if you can call it that, I have ever had. They towed my car two days in row, knowing full and well that the situation I was in was not my fault and still charged full amount with zero sympathy. First day I had to give them 950 bucks which I did, then the next morning I got a call saying that they had my car again. They proceeded to tell me if I got my car by 3 they would charge me 150. Which I did. Then upon arrival they said that they never told me that and charged 200. Mind you I just gave them 950 the day before, I was waiting for a parking pass at my apartment. They knew this and still did not care. They only take cash which probably means they pay very little to no taxes. The service was so bad I want to call the police! Car was towed on New Years Eve and obviously wasn't happy about it but the the folks here were helpful and actually friendly! Just about every tow company I've ever dealt with is always super rude, (I don't envy the job) but these folks were cool. No issues paying, car was in the condition I left it and the driver had even protected the car with his wrecker from the night before due to mass fireworks in the area.
