ALOHA! My husband and I are caring for and assisting my kupuna mother with decluttering and downsizing her house and belongings. Last year, I did my research on Yelp.com and found INTEGRITY TOWING and was very impressed with the high ratings and positive reviews back then. I was glad to have found the local business and bookmarked it at that time as a future resource. Now came the wondrous day for the anticipated phone call to make arrangements for INTEGRITY TOWING to pick up an old 1996 sedan belonging to a deceased relative as a 'Hawaii Cash for Cars' transaction. The stored vehicle was parked at my mother's driveway for many years. It had been transferred to her, but she no longer drives. We considered donating it to Salvation Army, but they said the car was too old. Yesterday morning, the local services of INTEGRITY TOWING came to the rescue via its business owner, Mr. Darin, who was very kind and courteous. It took my husband one phone call to inquire and make an appointment with him for the tow pick-up, then a couple or so text messages to settle the details, and the following day (today), his driver came by to pick up the car! Phewww! What a load off all our shoulders, thank God!! The driver was very professional and took the time to give instructions to my husband regarding the paperwork, as well as carefully maneuvered the tow out of the driveway. Oh Yelp, how I love you for helping me find Integrity Towing! After having the 'Check Engine' and 'Traction' lights on and seeing mechanics that scared me with comments like I should get a new car, it finally wouldnt start one morning; even after several attempts at jumping it :( I wanted to get it towed to the mechanic, but they wouldnt have been able to work on it until the following week. There was nothing I could do but call a towing company. In comes Integrity Towing! I set up an appointment to have my car towed to the auto shop (from Aiea to Kalihi). He immediately let me know how much it would be, and we set up a time. He gave me a call and came over. However, by car wasnt in the right positioning to be towed, and I couldnt put it in neutral either. Darin (the owner of Integrity towing) brought out his battery charger and noticed that my car was beginning to charge. He asked what the problem was with my car and said that he thought it was only the battery. He offered to still tow it to Kalihi, or I could just get the battery changed at Sears (right down the road)...or we could go and get a new battery and he'd install it himself since it would take Sears foreverrrrr. I opted for the latter. He began to read my manual, located my battery in my trunk and we unfortunately found that it was corroded with rust. He pulled off some science project stuff and cleaned it off with baking soda and water. Then we went to O'Reilly's to get a new battery and he installed it for me with ease. Then voila!! My car turned on! The lights had all turned off as well. He explained how they were all connected to the battery. I was flabbergasted and overjoyed! In the end, he only charged me $10 more than what the tow would have been. SO much cheaper than I was expecting. Darin really knows his stuff! If im ever in a jam, I know who to call for a tow. Go to this guy if you need your car junked. He's a 1-man wrecking crew. I had a 1992 Lexus LS400 that I absolutely loved but it was costing too much to upkeep. After the alternator died and spending money struggling to keep it going, I decided to get it junked. I learned that first-gen Lexus LS400's had a serious design flaw that would cause the power steering pumps to leak. When they leaked, the fluid would drip *directly* onto the alternator, which was basically the perfect formula to kill the alternator. I already had issues with the car's transmission AND the timing belt needed to be changed - that's thousands of dollars in repairs for an old car, so I figured I'd just junk it because I didn't have the time to sell it off. I went straight to Yelp for a service that does it and found this guy. Darren - extremely nice guy, very local and very friendly. I scheduled a time for my car to pick up and he arrived right on the dot. Even helped me jump start the dead car so I can move around the power windows and chairs for one last time to pick up some stuff that fell underneath it. At the time I had this service (last year in May) scrap prices were at $0, so Darren warned me that the junk car removal would cost $70. I called around to other places to compare and found similar quotes and prices, but because I was so impressed by Darren's service I decided to go with him. I don't know if scrap metal prices have changed today, but PLEASE be aware you MAY be charged for removal of the car. Don't get angry at the guy if you believe this is false advertising - he needs to update this info but it's very understandable as it costs a lot of money and time on his end to tow a car. $70 is a small price to pay to get it out of your way. The motivator for my review was that I called him today because I had a notice from the City telling me I had to renew my registration for that car. However, I don't own it anymore. I thought I already had it transferred, but it looks like either the notice I sent didn't get there in time or the city failed to process it, so I called Darren and asked him about it. He was very friendly and professional, letting me know how the whole process is and that he'd be willing to provide me the information to get it transferred. He said not to worry about it as the car's long and gone, but if I'd still like to follow up I just need to go to the DMV and get a form to officially transfer it over and he'll give me the necessary info. Seriously folks, this is how you spread the aloha spirit here in Hawaii - professional, friendly, and courteous service. I'm willing to pay a few extra bucks for it because good service should be rewarded. read more
