I've been coming here for six years, but today was my absolute last straw. I came in for a simple battery swap and service, and while waiting, I actually considered trading in my car. Instead, I got hit with a multi-hour runaround, vague numbers, and a completely absurd, inflated repair estimate that felt like a deliberate scam. The overall environment was appalling. The entire staff in the room was just staring at their phones and eating cupcakes, completely ignoring waiting customers. When I finally said I wasn't going to pay their outrageous prices and just wanted my car and my battery handled, the service advisor gave me major attitude and literally threw the paperwork/estimate at me. It's painfully obvious this place caters primarily to military or mainland clients who they think they can squeeze for top dollar, while completely writing off locals who know what things are actually worth. If businesses in Hawaii want to keep their long-term, loyal local customers, they need to actually respect us instead of treating us like cash cows or an inconvenience. He was never pushy at all, and was very eager to get favorable terms for the purchase. The new Tiguan is a blast to drive and loaded with the latest tech. Service has also been very easy. Appointments are usually available same or next day; and there is a convenient lockbox for after hours drop off available. They take the time to wash the car after an oil change or service and provide Uber services to get you to and from the dealership. I want to leave a 1, even a HUGE 0 but it's not the fault of VW Honolulu so here is a 3 and a WARNING to any outer island potential VW owner/lessee. DO NOT GET A VEHICLE FROM OAHU and ship to the Big Island. Even if the VW website boasts great relationships with Young Brothers for interisland vehicle shipping. DO NOT DO IT. I have a HUGE SAFTEY issue on my 2024 VW Tiguan that NO ONE is willing to help with. I've been bounced between VW America, Roadside assistance and even VW Honolulu over 2 weeks with no results. I finally get to speak with a supervisor with Roadside (apparently VW roadside or customer care don't have supervisors that talk with customers?? Weird huh?????) who agrees that I am covered with roadside and that VW will take care of getting my vehicle to Oahu for servicing. She even set up a tow to Kawaihae port to get shipped to Oahu. When I called to get further updates....NO ONE knows who the supervisor is that I spoke with and now a supervisor won't even get on the phone with me. They are all too scared and hide behind line staff and force line staff to say that it's my responsibility to get the car to Oahu. Whelp, here I am, leaving a shit review while I've been on hold for 45 min waiting to talk with a supervisor that refuses to talk with me. read more

I am a retired business person and was interested in a used 2024 Audi RS5 at VW Honolulu and went today. I asked for Brandon as he listed the car and as he was busy, he introduced me to the junior salesperson, Mike. He was inexperienced but was very professional and helpful. When he showed me the car, we found out we are sports car people and I shared my Porsche Motorsports experiences and photos with him and later, the senior salesperson, Brandon, joined us. After showing me the car, he asked if me and/or my wife wanted to take a test drive. I said I would and that is when the issues began. Mike came back embarrassed as his manager said for this particular car, I would need a "pre-approval" for a simple test drive. I have never heard of such a thing before in my extensive car buying history. I have test driven much more valuable cars by simply showing them my driver's license or less. In the interest of cooperation, I provided my social security number, personal contact info and monthly income. It appears the manager didn't believe me when I gave the income figure and Mike said was that figure monthly or annually. I said monthly and this was questioned several times by going back and forth to the manager, as if he couldn't believe my figures. I informed them that I have an 850 credit score and can easily pull it on my banking app. This score would easily qualify for financing of much higher priced car than this used RS5. Then they asked about my trade in and I informed them to give me a price and trade in value and financing separately. After many more delays, back and forth, and more talk story time and still no test drive nor price, my wife lost patience and went out to our car. I gave it several more minutes and went looking for Brandon and I was standing in front of the manager's desk. Instead of getting off his chair, assisting me, or doing something professional, like finally greeting a potential customer, he just sat behind the desk with a blank stare, so I headed to the front reception area where I encountered Brandon and Mike also walked over. At this point, we were at the dealership for 2.5 HOURS and still without a firm price NOR a test drive. It was like I will buy the car already for an undisclosed price and without a test drive. Or they think I cannot afford to buy and refused a test drive, which is truly laughable, as you never know what someone will or will not buy. I informed them I have to make an overdue business call and my wife and I are highly dissatisfied with the lack of service or basic respect. It's not worth it to me at any price, let alone a car, to have an unpleasant time with the wife over what should be a very happy occasion. It should've been the easiest of transactions as I extensively researched numerous Audis at Audi of Honolulu and on and off island. I happen to have purchased a Porsche and a VW from this dealer (under the Cutter ownership) many years ago and this treatment was downright insulting. I informed Brandon and Mike to contact me if the manager ever got his act together, which I highly doubt, and wished them all the best. It is the manager's fault for losing this simple sale. It's very unfortunate as black is my wife's favorite color, and I was going to make it her surprise birthday gift. I never ever write reviews but this was one of the worst I ever had and do not wish anyone else to experience this. read more

Attention 2023 ID4 owners. There's an active safety recall on the NTS website for the high voltage battery which can caught on fire and I have never received a letter from VW. This is insane! The recall was posted on January 21st and it's been more than 3 weeks. I took my vehicle for annual maintenance service (which is complementary) and because they know they won't make money with me, they provided zero care! I've waited one hour for a ride home. I ended up requesting the key to my vehicle to go back to work. They didn't even mention anything about the safety recall. They are putting our lives in danger and they couldn't care less. If I could give zero stars I would. Unless you're looking to give your hard earned money to a dealership modeled after a frat house filled with incompetent, sleazy, and sexist dudes, I'd suggest taking your business elsewhere. Besides having zero respect for your time and moving slower than an H-1 traffic jam, every guy that works there doesn't take a woman buyer seriously. After repeatedly ignoring my communications, both email and in person, every sales person and even the GM Joshua would only respond to my husband. I suppose it's possible they didn't respond to me because they were too busy vaping and dipping on the job, but your guess is as good as mine. Additionally, the GM takes zero accountability for anything going wrong (the sales team contracted the wrong car for us 3 times!!) and rather than offering in person support, hides behind his keyboard forwarding these concerns to other people on his team who don't have the ability or aptitude to rectify it. If the aforementioned isn't enough to steer you away from this place make sure that you read everything carefully. The finance manager Eric zooms in on all the electronic signature boxes so you can't see what you're signing, claiming that it won't work if not zoomed in. This approach got us enrolled in VW extended care coverage which was an additional charge and not on any paper documents. When we discovered it afterwards via a random email confirmation and expressed our lack of agreement to this he said it was a simple mistake and rather than removing us said he would reimburse us with cash, which he did. I'm no expert in car sales, but based on this I'd venture to guess there's some type of monetary manipulation occurring here. At best this place is a joke, but that's being generous given how slow, inept, unprofessional and shady they are. read more

Where do I even begin?! I went in to test drive a car in Feb 2025 and waked out with the car. I'll own my part which was getting suckered by sales, but even the finance guy was shady in his dealings. I told them I wanted a minimum of $1K for trade in for my car and when I get home and looked closely at the paperwork I was rushed to sign, it showed they only gave me $500. Also while rushing me through the paperwork, I was told we didn't have time to read everything because "they were slipping me in real quick before another customer who is now waiting." I was also quickly duped into the customer care package for an extra $1100. When I pull out with my new used car, it had a few problems that I believe should have been mentioned- a serious coolant leak, low break pads, non-functioning airbag on the passenger side, and speakers that cut out within a couple of days (amp had been pulled out and speakers not reconnected well). Of course I didn't know that so I called to see if they could check out the speaker issue and I was told they "don't do audio stuff." So I paid a guy down the street $75 to reconnect the wiring for me. They said too bad about the coolant leak, car sold as is. They offered 10% off price of break service but honestly that just brings them down to the price of a trusted guy nearby so no thanks. The only reason they dealt with the airbag issue is because it was covered by a different company. And that took several months to resolve as well, trying to get back and forth to work multiple times was a big pain. Then when I bought the car its tags and safety were not up to date. They said "no problem, we take care of that." It took 5 months before registration came then there was a lot of back and forth about getting the safety, which required me going in person to be told they can't after all but if I go do it myself they would reimburse me. It took several phone calls, emails, and almost year later to get my safety check reimbursed. Although I asked for the care package be removed from my purchase within a week of purchase, it took them a YEAR to reimburse the $1100! No joke. I was extremely frustrated about multiple things to say the least. Manager Josh was basically useless in getting things taken care of. As other reviews have said, it's impossible to get him to do anything as he's always passing it to someone else and then crickets when you try to follow up via phone or email. I'm ecstatic to say my dealings with them are finally done 15 months later. Please heed my advice (and some friends of mine) and go somewhere else to purchase and repair your car. No need for an Ai apology response. I'm good now. read more

My daughter leases a vehicle from Honolulu VW. The vehicle has broken down twice. First time, my daughter brings it in and they test the battery and claim to have "fixed it". They gave the vehicle back after 7 days. However, they never called us back and they say they will call you to update you and never do. If you call VW than it takes many tries and hours of time to get through to them. My daughter is always driving to the dealership in order to speak to an associate. It's a complete waste of time. My daughter brought the car back in on Tuesday this week and they still don't know what's wrong. They said they will get back to us. Another week she is without a vehicle. They don't provide a courtesy loaner vehicle while we have continually paid for the vehicle last month and this month. This is by far the worst service we have experienced. I would never lease or purchase a vehicle through this unprofessional, non communicative, inept VW dealership. recently went to Volkswagen in Honolulu on Nimitz Ave to look at a car they had advertised that I was interested in. When I arrived, the lot was full and very limited parking for customers. Most of the cars there were from their inventory. Anyhow, the car they advertised looked like it was in good condition and the outside pristine with little to no damage. When I look inside the back seats and the passenger seat look like they hadn't even tried to clean it. It was filthy and dirty. The sales person said, we sell our cars 'As is". Also a red engine light was on. Wouldn't you think they would take the time to clean the seats and fix or clear the engine light before they display the vehicle for sale. Lastly, the sales person said I had to purchase their "care package" or to that effect for $2,200. The "care package included free oil change, battery service and if I remember correctly, the upkeep or cleaning of the vehicle. I said what if I didn't want to purchase that package, the sales person said that it would be added to the cost of the vehicle. I said no thank you and left the lot. Don't get caught in the trap of purchasing any vehicle or any other cost of purchasing the vehicle. Hope this helps read more
