Bought my 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Premium about a month ago. I think every time you make a big purchase like this, it can be exciting but also stressful. Fortunately, the vibe at Servco Subaru Mapunapuna was not high-pressure, which I know many would appreciate. Servco Subaru has a "no stress, fair pricing" policy. That's great for folks who find negotiating to be nerve-wracking/frustrating (I know at least anecdotally that a lot of people feel this way). If you're used to negotiating, though, it could present a challenge. However, sales consultant Jarrett Miyaguchi and his manager were able to help me via trade-in of my previous vehicle. As I said, I've had my Crosstrek Premium for about a month and I haven't regretted the decision. I like the safety features and the way it drives, especially now that it's been really rainy. Jarrett actually drove out to the Kaimuki lot to get my vehicle for me and stayed late to clean the vehicle, install the all-weather mats, etc. (it was a Saturday so I think the person who would normally do that wasn't there), and go over the basics of the vehicle. I also appreciate that when you test drive at the Mapunapuna location you get to take the vehicles over some hills and briefly merge into traffic. A lot of folks here have mentioned how much they love their Subarus and how they've bought Subarus for many years. It may be helpful to share that that's not how I got to my Crosstrek. I had been driving a Honda for over a decade and it was still running when I traded it in. So Honda proved its reliability if nothing else. If you had asked me at the outset what I'd be getting next, I probably would have said another Honda. But because I test drove several other vehicles (including Honda) , I arrived at an independent decision that the Crosstrek was the vehicle I actually wanted. I have been bringing my Subaru here since buying it in 2022 and every visit somehow unlocks a new low level of customer service I didn't even know existed. My latest experience you ask? Honestly award winning. If Subaru Mapunapuna ever launches a "We Don't Care" Hall of Fame, the entire staff would be inducted immediately. I came in two weeks ago with an oil leak, which call me crazy, felt like something worth addressing quickly. Apparently not. I was told my car would be ready around lunch. Noon: diagnostics not completed, unclear if started. An hour later: couldn't reach anyone. Call back? Absolutely not. I finally drove back to the dealership to discover my car had been done...for some unknown amount of time. I guess letting me know wasn't part of the package. And the repair? Major. Requiring approval despite car still being under warranty. Kaeo, who greeted me in the morning, was nowhere to be found, so someone basically tossed my keys at me like I was late to my own pickup. Couple of days later, I called with few basic questions: -how long does the approval process take? -should I schedule service date preemptively? -since it is a warranty repair, will I get a loaner? -how long would the repair take? I left a message. Then another. And at least couple more. Mind you, there is a 40 minutes wait, on average, when calling the Subaru service desk. I received zero calls back. So I scheduled the appointment because the earliest availability was over a month out. After TWO WEEKS of silence, I drove to Subaru in person, because apparently no one who works there owns a working phone. When approached, Kaeo seemed confused that I had questions. Which I find interesting, considering that I said "I have questions" in every single message I left. But I get it, listening is hard. Fast forward to the fun part: My car will not be worked on until TWO MONTHS after I first brought it in, it continues to leak oil, and I most likely WILL NOT get a loaner. Despite this being a warranty repair. Don't worry, they will let me know the week of the repair whether there will be a car for me available. Otherwise I can help myself at a car rental facility. What a system! Kaeo did "make a note" that I will need a replacement vehicle, which honestly, felt like watching someone put a Post-it on a sinking ship. He even took us to see where the Service Department is as well as if we had to tow the car during off hours and instructed how to fill out a form, put our keys in it and drop it in the drop off box for the next business day. Came in for semi-annual maintenance of my 2023 FW. Kaeo went over everything that was going to be done with 3 1/2hr delivery time. Ouch! Halfway in Kaeo gave me status. In so doing he reminded me that safety check was due this month and offered that they do it. I totally forgot about that! He also stated that the battery was not at peak performance and was working the warranty. Stated that they will replace the battery too. Sweet! Buying a car is stressful and during a pandemic even more so. We were in conversation with Pam Wong, one of the Managers of Servco Subaru. She directed us to talk with Dorinda Shimazu. Dorinda was friendly, knowledgeable and not a pushy saleperson. We were shown the vehicles in the lot and determined that we might want to try driving the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Much different than before. You give the dealership your Driver License and Insurance and they send you off with the car WITHOUT the salesperson. We got to try driving around Salt Lake area and dealing with traffic. The SUV is different from the car we were used to driving and has so many more bells and whistles. We were pleased with the performance. Come back to the office and deal for the car? We came back and found that it is a fix price, no negotiation process. They give a price and we can choose options. It was nice that they setup pickup of the auto on a different day. They had a chance to wash, and make the car pretty, they also gave us a full tank of gasoline. I have to say that this was one of the most easiest transaction for an automobile. The last transaction I had with my past auto was a Nightmare and I would never go back there. We had to intiate contact to find out about our vehicle. Also when we picked up the car the first time it was there, we were made to wait 45 minutes and there was no one else in the wait room. One of the necessities of life is that eventually you are going to have to get a car from a car dealership. I usually buy used cars due to new car depreciation. But this time I wanted a brand new car. With COVID, supply chain/chip shortages, labor shortages, and high consumer demand (=gouging) I knew it was going to be difficult and there was only a set group of cars I was looking at. My wife and I went to a few dealerships with appointments but I didn't make an appointment at Servco. I guess I'm was thinking I'm a sucker for punishment. After a few minutes of looking at cars, Sales comes out and in my mind I'm thinking, "Ok, here we go with the usual Car Salesman scenario that I have nightmares over." Surprise!! Ryan Takushi greeted us, showed us a few cars, found the car I was looking for, went for a test drive, and gave us some information. I told him we had another appointment at another dealership and he was totally fine with that. -- NO PRESSURE! Price was as listed and no crazy markup due to demand. I brought my car in a few months ago to have the tire replaced since there was a bubble in the tire. I made the appointment a month in advance via the call center. They confirmed my appointment so I waited to bring my car in. Aside from the confirmation email I did not get any other follow-ups about my appointment/car. After an entire month passes, my boyfriend brings my car into this maintenance center and drops it off. He spoke with one of the office ladies and she asked him if we checked to see if the tire they were going to replace was "in stock," which was very confusing because why would we need to call and ask if they had it in stock? Was that our responsibility? She reassured him that she would check about the tire & give him a call if there were any issues. After my boyfriend left they called him up and informed him that they did not have the wheel in stock so basically we dropped my car off at the maintenance center for nothing. They had an entire month to check & make sure they had all the parts for my appointment & they waited till the day I brought my car in to inform me that they didn't even have the wheel that they were going to replace mine with AND that the wheel is not on island so I would need to wait at least 3-5 business days. There is nothing in the follow-up email that states that we need to check for this. Is this common knowledge for us? Are we responsible for checking if the maintenance center has the parts required for the appointment? So I brought my car (with a bubble in the tire) from Ewa to Mapunapuna for it to sit there & then to take it back to Ewa. After speaking to one of the sales associates, Justin (who apologized and told me I would be getting my tire at a discounted rate) & the manager, Ron, who was able to de-escalate the situation, however, the manager did ask me to drive my car back to Ewa (in rush hour traffic) with a bubble in it. I expressed my concern with that since it's risky and requested a loaner car. This manager rudely said to me, "Well you've been driving the car this whole time" to which I said, "No I have not, I waited this whole month not driving my car because I did not feel comfortable driving it with the bubble in the tire. That was very upsetting for him to assume that & disregard my safety concerns. After a few hours, he worked on trying to get a loaner car for me, which I was grateful for so I asked him what is an estimate of when the tire would arrive so that my boyfriend and I could plan accordingly. He replied "By the end of next week" since the tire takes a few days to get shipped to the island. I say okay and plan my week accordingly since I work night shifts at the hospital and my bf needs to come straight after he is done with work to drop me off to work with the loaner car. This happens on Friday and then they call me on Tuesday asking for the loaner car back and to pick up my car. Now I am scrambling trying to figure out when I would be able to pick up my car. They keep calling me. Normally, I would be happy that I could get my car back even earlier but this was way earlier than I expected, and planned my work week to pick it up. Then I got in touch with Justin again to confirm the discounted rate for my tire to which he said that he would take off the service fee, which seemed like a joke honestly. So I asked him how much that would come out to be subtracted from the original pricing. He said about 40-something dollars. Does that sound like a decent discounted rate for something that could've been so avoidable? The disconnected communication between the call center and the service center is ridiculous. They could have nipped it in the bud a long time ago before my appointment but ALL this trouble over a tire? Then after inconveniencing me and apologizing for their mistake, they don't even follow through with their word of discounting for the actual tire and instead try to pass it off by taking off their service fee. After I gave them pushback about it Justin even guilt-tripped me saying, "Okay we'll give it to you at the price that we get it so basically Servco is LOSING money." What am I supposed to do with that kind of information? Do you think I am out to get this company & doing this so that Servco LOSES money? I just wanted my dang tire fixed, even if it meant at full price. Do you want me to feel bad because I trusted Servco to respect my time and patronage? So now that I was treated horribly as a consumer then I owe Servco by feeling bad that they are not making a sale off me because of their mistakes? I'm sorry but that was the icing on top of the cake. I will never come back to this service center again because they don't respect me or my time. I used to have such good things to say about this location but based on the treatment I was given (that could have easily been avoided instead of swept under the rug) now I will make it a point to defer anyone interested in seeking car maintenance from this location. read more

The management still chose to " question " whether I could afford a $400 car payment on a used vehicle and asked me to get a co-signer or pay $4k down payment. Do not come here. I got my service done on October 4, 2024. Customer service was horrible by Keao. When I did not see a return service sticker on my left hand side glass, I called the customer service line to ask them if they may have forgotten to replace it. I was told my the customer service agent that I can return to the service center to get it as they may have forgotten to replace it. I drive back, ask for my sticker and Keao then goes on to respond by stating that they have never replaced the service stickers on the glass and that they are located on the second page of my receipt. Okay...why did the customer service rep tell me they must have forgotten to replace it so come back to get it? I don't mind placing the sticker on by myself. If she told me it was located on the second page because they "never replace the stickers," is fine. I wouldn't have had to drive the 15 minutes back and 15 minutes to home yet again to receive the sticker. But two people are telling me different things. So have you workers get on the same page. The Servco Subaru in Kaimuki are super nice and offer a military discount, but Mapunapuna does not. read more

She had her sights set on a 5spd Civic and he actually said he would recommend a cheaper Accord based on her needs. How honest is that? Since then, we've bought a Civic, Matrix, Camry, Corolla, Forester, and Fit from him. It's always the same. He gives his honest opinion on the car, and he actually knows about cars. I maintain all of our cars but I don't mention that at first, so I'll know if a sales guy is BS'ing me. I just tell him I want to know what the bottom line price is. No haggling, I either buy it or don't and I never feel pressured. I really have a low tolerance for the sleazy car sales guy experience so for me to be willing to send my friends and family to him directly, shows how comfortable I am. I always feel like we get a fair deal with him and after buying 6 cars from him I STILL check with him first before we buy another car. I recently bought one of the last 2019 Corollas from Servco in Waipahu and the manager there said he used to work with Kirk and he would love if he could work with him on the Waipahu side.
