Came here for a late breakfast/early lunch with my family. Street parking was a bit tricky to find, but doable. It's bright and modern inside with a good amount of seating for a small space. The bathrooms inside were also clean. I ordered the pour over (Myanmar Oat Twin), Genmaicha hot tea, Hoijicha tea latte, Tocino sando, Chicken arroz caldo, and the Alaskero mochi waffle. There was a bit of a wait to get our food and drinks as the place seemed popular for food and drinks before the Seahawks game that day. The drinks were amazing and made with care. The sando (breakfast sandwich) was delicious and not overly greasy. The chicken arroz caldo (congee) was soothing and flavorful. The Alaskero mochi waffle was a bit plain but I like the sweetness of the mochi waffle against the smoked salmon. The Asian-flavored cheesecakes that I couldn't wait to try were rather anti-climatic in all ways. They weren't sitting prettily behind a gorgeous pastry glass waiting to be wrapped up in a nice box or placed on a fine dessert plate. No, I grabbed the already pre-packaged cheesecakes out of a small fridge by the door. The presentation wasn't a dealbreaker, so I was still excited to try the treats. I decided on the purple yam ube cheesecake and the coconut pandan cheesecake. I'm not big on ube so I was looking more forward to the coconut pandan one. However, both were extremely creamy and heavy on their namesake flavors, making what's usually a filling dessert even more filling. It didn't help that we also got a buko pie. Delicious coffee with unique flavors! Hood famous is located in Chinatown and offers unique coffee flavors with a Filipino twist. I got an iced americano and a pandan latte. They were both delicious. Came back again when in town, we love the porridge, it's very unique, totally different from regular congee. There is some chicken oil, and some lemon juice (?) mixed with it, and it tasted great . and the cold brew is on point. The only down side is the portion and the pricing. This time I was being adventurous enough to try Calamansi Espresso Tonic (I can't have coffee), and it was perfect and surprisingly refreshing. I wanted to get every single thing on this menu. My eyes could not stop eating. Eventually, though, I decided on the pandan latte and the beef bowl. The thing that I've continued to think about after my trip to Seattle has to be the pandan latte. I'm usually an iced girlie, but for some reason I went for the hot latte, and it was delicious. The pandan flavor is somewhat subtle, but it's definitely there and sweetens the drink ever so slightly. It was really just a wonderful drink for a cold day. The beef bowl was decent; though I definitely think this is more of a lunch or small bite spot rather than a big meal. The bowl was smaller than I thought it was going to be, though they include a good amount of beef. I found the beef to be flavorful and not tough, but the rice was somewhat hard. I think they might've been going for crunchier rice, but some of the grains of rice in this bowl were just straight up hard to eat. Otherwise there was great flavor in the bowl as a whole. read more

My favorite thing I ordered today was the calamansi espresso tonic!! It's a perfect, refreshing summery drink; like a spruced up americano. I'd highly recommend that! I also ordered the breakfast sandwich with longanisa added in! I wouldn't recommend getting the breakfast sandwich without the sausage because otherwise I feel like the sandwich might lack some flavor. I would come back to try more of their desserts for sure or maybe their mochi waffles that I saw in the menu. We were there around lunch time on a Saturday and it was packed! It's difficult to find a table during this time and a bit chaotic so expect searching and waiting a bit for a place to sit! Next place on my Seattle trip was to this Filipino Fusion Bakery/Cafe. As you know I'm a sucker for all things ube. I got the ube cheesecake and ube iced latte. Now since I was trying to be strategic with my eating, I held off going all out before going to my main dinner spot. Low key wish I ordered the Latik Blondie though. (I was served a very tough pandesal..... ;( !!! That *alone* should result in an "ay nako!!" 2-star-deduction to the rating.) Collective 3-star rating and I'm actually torn about this Filipino-influenced spot because I can clearly see the potential. First off, the calamansi bar. Amazing! No holding back on the intense tartness and sourness of calamansi flavor. Everything else that I tried here seemed to be played too safely. Contrary to how the ube latte appears there was a very minimal ube taste to it (though on the bright side it was otherwise a pretty smooth & creamy latte.....but I didn't go here for a traditional latte :/ ). Succulent longanisa in the longanisa pandesal sando but super bland. Inexcusably tough pandesal that made the sando actually a bit messy to eat (trying to chew down on the bread caused the filling to easily squeeze out). I mean, big props that pandesal is made in-house but execution could use some work. Ehhh I don't know. Very lovely Filipino cafe that's a great spot for a light breakfast or even just coffee to go! I really liked the atmosphere when I entered! The space is bright with lots of cultural decor. You place your order at the cashier near the entrance then you can find a spot to sit or wait for your items. All the staff I interacted with were very friendly! The coffee bar is located on the opposite side of the space where you can pick up your drinks when they are ready. There were also lots of people coming in and out who ordered their drinks to go. The food was prepared pretty quickly, and the utensils and condiments are all self-serve. We tried the ube and pandan latte for our drinks. The colors and presentation were beautiful, and I really enjoyed the taste of both of them. Ube and pandan are both pretty subtle flavors, so I would have loved just a little more of that in both of the drinks, but overall they were both very good. We also got the Alaskero Mochi Waffle, Longanisa Pandesal Breakfast Sando, and the Ube Sugar Toast. The Alaskero Mochi Waffle was very tasty and had a side of arugula salad which was delicious! The mochi waffle was chewy with a light sweetness to it, and the smoked salmon was very savory. There was also a seasoned cream cheese topping that went really well with the dish too. I've been here severak times, and my experience has been consistent. The drinks are just okay, but I like the cheesecake and baked goods. This time I swing by on a random rainy Thursday afternoon, and there are quite a few people here. The cashiers are usually pretty nice. I ordered an Iced Pandan Latte, which has a subtle hint of pandan after the initial couple sips, just like the Ube one. Such a great spot for catching up with a friend, especially if that friend is visiting from Hawaii and that friend only has a few hours for a layover in Seattle. Our friend took the light rail and got off in the international district. We had lunch together and we found this place right across from the train station so we headed inside before we say our goodbyes. What a wonderful surprise! A Filipino American cafe/bakery created by a hip hop emcee in Seattle's Chinatown. It doesn't get much better than that, IMO. Hood Famous is a must drop-in when in you're in the Chinatown vicinity either to start your morning or to complete your fill of dim sum or Chinese food. Who doesn't have room for dessert? Not only does it have delicious specialty beverages that you can enjoy...I mean c'mon, pandan or ube lattes? You must also try a slice of their buko pie, yum! Say what? You're not in the mood for Chinese food in Chinatown but want an alternative? Go for their breakfast items, their Tocino Pan De Sal Sando, arroz caldo or quiche, or if you want something lighter, you can't go wrong with the chia pudding. The other thing that I appreciate about Hood Famous is their small store of other items you can buy yourself or bring for an upcoming birthday or maybe, just because you'd like to take a souvenir on the plane with you because you're visiting outta town or you'd like to gift a friend/family member that you're visiting. You can gift them with an item from their store or a pastry/slice of pie. The service here is also great making it an enjoyable atmosphere altogether. 2 years later, after all the renovations, this place is super adorable. Love the addition of the mini-restaurant and the little sari-sari (general) store on the corner. A mix of people eating and also working on their laptops. Tried out the Longsilog and it was delicious! The rice was well cooked and the sausage was perfectly sweet and savory. I didn't get to enjoy the space too much my first visit since I mainly came here to get some coffee and pastries on my road trip. It was interesting reading Yelp reviews as it seems they transform the space later in the evening and even have some private events. Surprisingly on a weekday morning there were still quite a bit of people in the space. I tend to over order especially early in the morning so I ended up splurging on the corned beef bun, ube cookie, ube latte, and hot dog ensaymada. They warm all the baked goods for you so I was able to take a piping hot bite. I thought they were unique items so worth tasting them but I wish there was a bit more corned beef on the bun or a little more sweetness on the ensaymada. It was a little on the pricier side as I paid ~$50+ for what I ordered. Ube cookies were also good the next day and can last a couple days. They were probably my favorite item I ordered aside from the ube latte. I dream of the ube latte and would honestly come back for that alone! It was my first time here so I didn't realize food was provided by the cashier and the drinks are on the other bar side so I was waiting for my drink when it was already ready.
