We went here after hearing about a Filipino cafe near Uwajimaya. I tried their ube latte. The coffee was pretty good but the ube flavour wasn't too strong. I would probably come back here to try something else instead since they had a number of Filipino inspired items on their menu. They had lots of yummy looking pastries like guava cheesecake, buko (coconut) pandan cheesecake, calamansi cream trifle, etc. There were lots of seats available, so it's a good place to hang out with friends or do some work. Ahhh! Closed out my Seattle trip with a stop at this lovely cozy cafe. I indulged my Ube fantasies to the max with the Ube cheesecake, espresso latte and cookies that made it through the TSA line..even though it did crumble. My silog special had a mild garlic taste to it which was the perfect complement to the egg and greens. My friend said the pandan latte was mild and mellow, and she also enjoyed her pan de sal- longanisa. Their bread is so yummy that someone in line tried to only buy the bread instead of the whole sando..If I hadn't come here on my last day in Seattle, I would have visited more times! Definitely come early if you want to get certain items on menu since they sold out of champorado but it wasn't even 10 am yet! Service is great too! WHEN: Sun @11am I've been waiting to check this place out for over a year now and now is my chance after breakfast in Pioneer Square. I didn't know what would be available but I went anyway. International District may not be much of a place to visit, but stepping into this cafe is kind of like stepping into a portal of such lovely decor and a room with so much innovative Filipino drinks and sweets (dishes and cocktails at night). There's also mercy and art sold here, in addition to ingredients used at the bar such as pandan and ube syrups! This lovely place has a good amount of seating (non outdoor) and I'd love to stay here all day, eating, sipping and working. Here's what I had: PANDAN LATTE (12oz) - $5.25 I'm a sucker for anything pandan, but I always forget that when I order Pandan-flavored coffee, I will never taste the pandan flavor. It was still good though--quite sweet. Tastefull and creamy and would have never thought it to be pandan. I should have ordered the Ube flavor. UBE COOKIE - $3 I didn't get a chance to eat this until the next day, warmed by my microwave. I really enjoyed this! It was a soft cookie jam packed with Ube flavor. Definitely worth a try if you're an ube fan like me. UBE CHEESECAKE - $7.50 Sure it may seem pricey, but look at the cute packaging! I was able to carry it home to enjoy later. This rich and jam packed with ube flavor was wonderful. I tasted more Uber than the usual tart cheesecake, which I LOVED! It's quite rich so it took me 2 sessions to finish this mini single serving of a cheesecake. There was so many more baked goods I'll Ike to try, but it will have to be for another time. Such a cute coffee/pastry shop! I came here on a Sunday afternoon. Most of the pastries were already sold out & the rest didn't sound particularly exciting, so I ended up only getting a ube latte. I'm normally not a latte person, but had to try it because I heard they're famous for their ube specialty food & drinks. The uber latte was $5.75, which honestly seemed a little pricey. I ordered it with skim milk instead of whole milk. The first third was amazing, and then it got too sweet for me. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I feel it did live up to the hype! We got the OG mochi waffles (weekend only) and the Ube sugar toast. The waffles were fluffy but I actually liked the Ube toast a bit better, though both were good. I'd probably get the Turon waffle next time as I think that would give it a little more flavor pop. We also got the Filipino coffee and the pandan latte, which were both tasty. I'd definitely order the pandan latte again and go out of my way to get it here. The service was friendly and decently speedy - you pick up drinks at one counter and food at another though so you have to pay attention. The ambiance was really nice and open with big windows for plenty of light, lots of plants, and colorful mosaics around the space. Ive always wanted to try Hood Famous and was finally able to. It's a little confusing as there's a drink stand and also a food/pastry stand. From my visit it seems like you order everything at the food/pastry stand and then pick up your items at the respected side. I tried the iced pandan latte and got a sampler of the cheesecakes. Iced pandan latte: the coffee quality is good and comes with non-dairy options like oat milk. The pandan is pretty subtle and I wish there was more of that flavor. buko pandan cheesecake: didn't get much buko pandan flavor and it just tastes like regular cheesecake. ube cheesecake: like the buko pandan cheesecake, the ube is very subtle and also tastes like regular cheesecake. Vietnamese coffeee cheesecake: the coffee flavor was way more subtle like and almost was as if la Croix made the coffee flavor. white chocolate guava cheesecake: unlike the other three cheesecake flavors, there was pretty good guava flavor which wasn't too subtle or overwhelming. Overall it seemed like everything was pretty subtle here in terms of flavors. Personally I like coffeeholic more as it has stronger flavor. read more

This is my first time coming back to Hood Famous after they expanded. Let me say, the interior is so well thought out (not that it wasn't before) from the placards of Filipino history to the cushions on the chairs to the light fixtures, making the space very intimate. The service here has always been amazing. The person who was taking our order was giving us detailed descriptions of their menu items and their personal recommendations which was greatly appreciated! They made great conversation and made us feel welcomed! LGBTQ+ friendly for sure! I love their portion-controlled-sized cheesecakes (more specifically their ube). This time around, I got their iced ube latte, ube cookie and my partner got the iced pandan latte w/oat milk. Both lattes were very good! The pandan latte was relatively sweeter than the ube and not as bitter. Additionally the ube flavor is subtle and has a stronger brewed coffee taste. A very good pick-me-up! Hood Famous has easily become one of my favorite spots in Seattle. I love how unique all of their drinks and food items are and that they do a great job of incorporating traditional Filipino flavors and foods into an innovative dish. Since this location is in the International District, I didn't really see any parking nearby. We used the light rail to get here, but I'd imagine it would be difficult aside from street parking. When you walk in, you'll notice that there's a section for grab and go as well as seating. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy yet modern, with lots of greenery and natural lighting coming in from their large windows. This is definitely a spot where people catch up with others over good food and drinks, but definitely more so on a casual level. We came in on around 4 PM, so they offered their cocktail menu. Our server was so sweet and since we were traveling with our luggage, he even offered to store our bags in the back without us even asking! He gave all of his recommendations, very amicable, and even told us about places to see while in Seattle, which we greatly appreciated. We ended up ordering their piNOT grigio, beef mechado, and deviled eggs. The piNOT grigio was amazing. It's a clarified milk punch, except it tasted exactly like an actual pinot grigio! I was blown away with the creativity. The beef mechado had an incredible crust surrounding it that was perfectly flakey and light. The deviled eggs were so unique too because they added in calamansi and salmon roe which really elevated the dish. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Hood Famous! Not sure if it's listed separately on Yelp, but Hood Famous opens during the day as a bakery and reopens at night as a bar. I swung by late night for some cheesecakes, but even then the feel of it feels closer to a casual restaurant than a bar. There were even a couple families that had seemed to just swing by for a late night snack, which is exactly what I was there for. Cheesecake (4.5/5): These are a bit pricey at eight dollars each, but they were genuinely very tasty. We tried the ube, Vietnamese coffee, and white chocolate guava and everyone had their own favorite. Definitely worth getting at least once. Baboy Skewer (4.75/5): This was amazing. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to get pork to be both tender and chewy at the same time. However, the skewers are also incredibly pricey clocking in at 13 bucks for just 2, so if this wasn't mind blowing I would have been very upset. YAY for a Filipino cafe that's famous in more places than just the hood, I'm sure. This spot had been on my radar for almost half a year before I finally had the chance to stop on in with some Seattle foodies. It's in a convenient location, just off of the ID rail station and within walking distance from Uwajimaya. The interior is decorated in a modern Filipino style and there are ample chairs and tables to hang out/chill at. My friends and I decided on: *cheesecake 4 pack (ube, coconut pandan, vietnamese coffee, white chocolate guava)- $28: these were creamy but a little too subtle in flavor than I would've liked *iced pandan latte ($5.75): this was more like oat milk with a hint of coffee and pandan flavor. Amazing Filipino bakery and cafe with a bright modern aesthetic that contrasts with the rest of the international district! The food and drinks are pretty and taste good and the atmosphere is super chill and relaxing. The ube flavored items here were my favorite. Not only were they all an amazing deep purple color, the flavor was also quite nice. The ube was light and had a slight distinct earthiness, and I enjoyed that none of the items were too sweet. The latte had a good balance of coffee and milk and was just the right amount of bitter and rich. The cheesecake was thick and dense and had a great milky cream cheese flavor. The non ube flavored items were also really good. The buko pie was super creamy and had tender chunks of young coconut. It had a strong coconut cream flavor and the crust was sturdy and held up all the creaminess. The crumble topping also added a nice crunchy contrast. The tocino sandwich was mostly good. The pan de sal, tocino, and garlic aioli were amazing, but I didn't really like the McDonald's style square egg and it would've been so much better with a freshly cooked egg. read more

Hood famous is absolutely incredible and I'm so sad we don't live closer because I would absolutely make this my regular coffee place. I usually get the pandan latte, and it is so so good, creamy, nutty and sweet. My fiancé loved their seasonal Ube horchata, and we hope it sticks around in some form. The cheesecake? We are from New York, we take cheesecake very seriously in this house and hood famous is on. POINT. My favorites are the calamansi mango and the white chocolate guava but honestly all of them are fire. We had our first breakfast here but it will not be the last because the longanisa breakfast Sando was amazing. Balanced with savory, salty, umami deliciousness. An absolute must try. We were in from Chicago and had to stop in to see what this place was all about. We were pleasantly surprised. The ambience was comfortable and familiar. We loved the interior design, mixing modern architecture and furniture with traditional Filipino decorations and a lot of nostalgic photography. We didn't realize it would be more of a cafe style experience and we brought our kids for dinner, so it was a little challenging to find dishes that would feed us all, as the plates are smaller sizes and intended as more finger food than entree. That said, the fusion Filipino food we experienced was excellent. The (seasonal) pandesal was fresh and filled with Kare Kare, which was a unique experience. There was a pot pie dish with (I think) caldaretta. And my son had a fried rice that he enjoyed immensely. As this is not a restaurant, I wouldn't hold it to a similar standard regarding service or engagement, but I will say that the server was polite and knowledgeable. It was my first time here and I heard they had an ube latte. I was excited to try it and did my best to come on a day they were open! There's paid street parking available, a decent amount of seating inside, and offer various products and merchandise. Though I came for the ube latte, I ended up getting the Pandan latte. I was slightly disappointed because there was very very little Pandan flavor and I was expecting a green color for the latte, but it just looked like coffee and a lot of milk. I felt that the latte could have been stronger in Pandan taste, but it was a good latte in general. The space is beautiful, it's cozy and welcoming. They have pastries that looked really good and other products and merchandise in the store. There's a space for studying or work if you want to sit at their large table or window seats. I wish their hours were expanded, but I made it work to come try. I would recommend for a good cup of coffee, a calm and cozy atmosphere, and for a nice place to work or study. After having dinner locally, I had a sweet tooth and saw Hood Famous, so I decided to stop in. After debating for a good 5 minutes and speaking with the employee for recommendations, I got the Vietnamese Coffee Cheesecake, which was the perfect portion size. The cheesecake was flavorful and the perfect texture. Some cheesecakes can be heavy and you're done in a couple bites, but this was light and airy. They've expanded a bit so there is more dining area/tables since the last time we visited (which was right before the big pandemic shut down!) I encourage you to try everything here. Don't sleep on the ube latte or whatever drink concoctions they have, because I've had my share of ube drinks and theirs was so good! We had both hot pandesal sandwiches (tocino and the other was some sort of eggplant & egg), quiche (crust was nice and flaky, we fought over the first piece so we had to order another one), corned beef roll? (It was a fluffy bread with bits of corned beef), which was even better dipped in or washed down with some of that ube latte. Only took photos of the latte because we wolfed everything else down lol - oops. Usually we joke the camera gets to eat first, but we just didn't have the patience. I also love the ube cookies here, as well as the different flavored mini cheesecakes. I would also love to be back in the evening when their bar opens up for happy hour (calamansi cocktails? Yes please!), but just haven't had the chance to when I'm here. At the moment they are asking everyone sitting in (instead of take out) to show proof of vaccination. I was in the neighborhood for some other errands and I wanted to kill time so I hung out at Hood Famous for a while. I got the seasonal drink (strawberry shortcake latte) going for around $7. According to the waitress, the latte had strawberry sauce, topped with creamy foam and a dust of granola pieces. It's steep for a coffee drink but it wasn't overly sweet and I liked the flavor. I thought the drink would come out the other corner of where they took my order, but I was surprised it came out of a separate bar area. I was wondering if the waitress (or the barista that took order from me) is new - while the shortcake latte only came iced, she asked if I want it hot or iced (I ordered hot and later found out it only came iced - fine by me). Can't believe I have not completed a Yelp post since my first onsite visit back on 3/10/19. Where I sat originally, now has a refrigerated case. Hopefully they will have the opportunity to expand their retail - restaurant - cafe - bar space. I have also visited the currently shuttered Ballard site to sample the various items to share with family, like the mini and full size cheesecakes, cookies, and calamansi bars. Product used to be also available at Uwajimaya or Asian markets in North Seattle. Due to parking and/or long lines, my other visits were pretty much reduced to takeouts and became more and more infrequent. However, Wendy K, Yelp Elite and IG friend, put Hood's Famous Bakeshop and Bar back on my radar screen with her posts of various beverages and baked goods. She even gifted me with several large ube cookies. She's very lucky to work nearby and have the ability to stop in often. I had stopped in on 10/23/21 ordered a tasty mocha and a selection of baked goods to go. Their pastry case assortment was so enticing. Another recent spontaneous visit on 11/4/21, I patiently made my way southbound during the rainy, morning commute. Found nearby parking, yay! Purchasing a rare periodical second printing compelled me to visit. I was able to actually sit onsite for 45 minutes with another mocha and just absorb the cafe's current vibe. Their shop has a nice assortment of merch - great idea for holiday shopping! It's a tiny shop but big on providing a welcoming atmosphere. It was very serene and pleasant being able to be seated and just be. I was able to bring home a sample of buko pie for The Homie. It was an unusual way to start my day which put me in an upbeat mood. Good thing since later that business day, I found out my contract was not renewed. Becoming unemployed again before the holidays reinforced counting one's blessings nevertheless. I stopped in again on 11/24/21 to pick up my online order for buko pie. Nicely packaged with baking instructions provided. This was very well received the next day at the family Thanksgiving gathering across the sound. Baked with love, infused with community and Filipino heritage, this was very meaningful. We bought a few cheesecake here to try with a group of people and as you can see, i was too slow in taking pictures hahaha. We also got a pan de sal to try as well. The pan de sal (1.25) - this was ok, I thought it would have had more Flavor but it was fine. It dried out pretty quickly as well as we had half of it when we left the store and the other half later on and that one dried up. The cheesecake was pretty good. I definitely like the Vietnamese coffee one but they were all really good.
