HooDoo is not to miss when in Fairbanks. Great selection of brews, indoor and outdoor seating including fire pits, and weekly food trucks. Staff super friendly and knowledgeable.

I love Hoo Doo! It's such a refreshing, modern vibe for Fairbanks full of funny, smart, friendly social folks! You'll always come away from a busy day at Hoo Doo having had many fun conversations with perfect strangers who are always happy to chat! Their beer dejection is a bit limited and I wish they would offer a cider and a sour, but that's just a preference. The beer is great! The atmosphere is modern, inviting and beautiful! Rotating food trucks are a thing at Fairbanks area breweries and for a good reason! Because they are fun and are a great way for a brewery to offer food to their guests. In cooler weather the outdoor fire pits are marvelous along with outdoor string lights to further enhance the warmth of the setting.

Great place to hang out. This place gets packed with no seating unless you go outside. The fire pits were pretty. I stood by it to keep myself warm. The place has a nice atmosphere with great beer. Wish they have more seats though.

MENU AND FOOD: HooDoo Brewing company has a rather limited selection of beer on tap. SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service was quick and efficient. Their indoor and outdoor decor were appropriate and appealing. They have fit pits outside on their patio! PARKING: They have plenty of parking in their lot. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We both got a flight of beers after a long drive back from Castner Glacier an hour before closing. However, we realized both flights were pretty much identical given the options of beers available. Overall, we would be back for their ambience, but not necessarily for the beer list.

So we came in with high expectations because we had their Kölsch at a bar in Anchorage and it was excellent. We tried all other beers in a flight, and they were just ok. English Mild was above average, but nothing really stood out. Very friendly service and fun signage :)

We checked this place out while visiting. First the facility itself was amazing! Pretty nice to see everyone relaxing outside enjoying a beer. The beers we had were delicious. There was a food truck on site as well. Great place!

Cool brewery with a great outdoor space. Hoodoo clearly has a lot of stuff in order--mostly solid beer, great vibe, excellent and omnipresent merch. It was incredibly crowded for a Tuesday night, and struck me as a popular local spot, for good reason. I did a tasting flight, and the beer was good, though some areas could stand some improvement. Decent gose, surprisingly impressive ESB (not normally my style), excellent stout. On the other hand, the IPA was a bit bland and the Weissbeer very disappointing, with an overpowering and slightly off-putting (to me) banana flavor. My biggest issue with the brewery itself... perhaps you can chalk this up to culture shock, but I really did not appreciate the fact that you just line up to order a beer as if queuing up to get into a club. Sorry, but it is just weird to wait on a line like you're at a grocery store just to order a beer, and frankly just seems un-American to have a bar that does not handle customers as they sidle up to the bar. Inefficient and just demonstrates some poor bar culture, IMHO. The other unfortunate part of my experience here is that I arrived at 6:15, and the food truck for the day--The Alaskan Cheesesteak Company--was out of bread and essentially unable to provide any sustenance beyond fries. I had planned and timed my visit specifically to cover dinner. The brewery was crowded, but not absurdly so. I can't really completely hold the brewery to fault, but... this definitely impacted my experience and made me leave earlier than planned to get an actual meal before getting too drunk! I mean, I love a good brewery and I expect most people would have a great experience here on most nights. There were just enough issues so that my experience here was not optimal.

Flight of beers and my stout on the side! The barley wine at the end was delicious! I believe we also got an IPA, stout and a lager.

Want to stay nice and warm and feel good on the inside.. this is the place to try! We ordered a flight of beers ( the barley wine is strong and good lol) and I had the stout which was really good and a nice size! Just needed one lol the fire place outside was very much appreciated as well! Our lady that took our order was friendly and helpful especially since we aren't from Alaska and helped us choose some food flavors.

Came here during a really cold night. We went inside and the staff was welcoming and friendly. Not a huge list of beers so it was easy to pick, especially when they allow you to taste before making your choice. I went with their BAVARIAN WEISSBIER. I really liked the subtle banana taste and the cloves made it feel like winter. After paying is when we got a bit of bad news... because of Covid they have a max capacity of people allowed in their taproom. So, we were allowed to come in and buy the beer but would have to stay outside to drink it. At first it was fun, with their firepits, but there was not sitting arrangement next to them (maybe for safety reasons but during Alaska winter it's too cold to be far from the fire). So we had to stand in minus 14 (and wind) weather, drinking a cold beer. After a bit it got tiresome, boring, and very cold so we ended up not having a second one. Really liked the place, the vibe and the beer but wish they had thought/ planned better the outside. Just make sure you check their site before going, if you want to enjoy some beers there. Found out later you can reserve your spot in the taproom ;)

Good beer, beautiful facility with seating inside and out and friendly staff. Besides the two or three beer rule, this place is great.

Updated review, 1 year after my first! HooDoo is still a treat. Things have changed a lot since I was last here. (I'm a fair-weather summer Alaska traveler) HooDoo has expanded their outdoor seating, added a pallet fence to enclose it, and put up a nice big semi-permanent tent for extra shade. Their Covid prevention practices make me feel safe, even as a health care provider and there were MANY people when I went. No current indoor seating, and as you enter you are given an assigned seat to enjoy with your group. Masks are required unless eating or drinking. Social distancing enforced while waiting in line. I also think my favorite beer has changed to the Gose- an easy drinking sour with a hint of salt.

Hoodoo stout, New England IPA & Weissbeir

Tonight was my 1st at HooDoo Brewing Company & there was a large Friday evening crowd. There was a wait to order beers put the people watching kept us entertained. We ordered the Bauarian Weissbier, New England IPA & HooDoo Stout of the 3 the stout was the best we even brought a 4pack home for later. The on-site food truck tonight (Arctic Habanero) was available but the wait after ordering was way long & several groups didn't get their food until way past closing. The beer crowd was pleasant, staff friendly, seating plentiful. All in all a enjoyable time.

One of my favorite parts about visiting the 49th state, was the amazing beer and brewery scene offered. HooDoo is either my first or second favorite of the breweries I has the pleasure of enjoying. Tastes a bunch of their beers but just know that at some point, state laws prohibit you from consuming over a certain amount. That part didn't feel very Alaska but the hospitality and awesome vibe definitely did. Staff here were super nice and accommodating through health restrictions. The burger food truck available the day I went was delicious and even though I'm a dramatically cold Californian, I enjoyed drinking my beer by the fire pit. Wish I could've stopped by again, definitely hit this spot up if you make it to Fairbanks.

They don't know how to pour a full beer.

Excellent local beers on tap. Tasty food trucks outside by the beer garden. Nice place to kick back for a bit and unwind.

The beer garden is very nice but not dog friendly. There is only one small sign, so it is not obvious.

I had the stout and my fiance had the IPA, both were just about the best of each variety that we have ever had.

More on that in a moment. This location has a very cozy cabin-esque look and feel. Very spacious with comfortable seating. We had a slight /ly B/ larger group, and they were very quick to place a couple tables together to accommodate us. Our group pretty much "shotgunned " the menu; ordering probably a little something from everywhere. All of our standard meals tasted really good. That said, just from the look and feel of everything, I was expecting the taste to maybe be just another step up from what it was take that as more of a "no sprinkles on my frosting" type of view. For standard dining folks, you will not be disappointed by trying out Pikes. That said, the view changes a bit if you are gluten-free or celiac dependent. My wife ordered a gluten-free steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We specifically informed our server that she has Celiac disease, not simply a gluten preference. We were assured the kitchen understood, would use clean, unused pans and utensils, and would take cross-contamination precautions. We also requested that her meal be delivered separately from the other meals (we were a party of six), and were told that could be accommodated. Instead: * Her meal arrived with everyone else's. * The steak was topped with breaded onion straws. We politely pointed out the issue and explained that an entirely new meal--not simply removing the onion straws--would be necessary because of cross-contamination. Unfortunately, we forgot to "mark" the original steak (we normally make a small cut in it so we can verify a different piece of meat is served). The replacement meal appeared correct, although we could not be completely certain whether it was a different steak, as it looked very similar, only slightly more well done. My wife did eat the replacement meal and fortunately experienced no reaction afterward. Later, another staff member (we're not sure whether he was from the kitchen or management) stopped by to ask how everything was. He seemed pleased until we mentioned the gluten-free concerns. At that point, his demeanor became noticeably more abrupt, and he repeatedly insisted that the kitchen "understood." He then left, and we were unsure how to interpret that.

There's really not much to do in Fairbanks, AK. Since this was by our lodge, we decided to eat…read morehere. The first time was a hamburger, the second time was a salad. The hamburger was so so; I ate maybe half of it. The salad was better. They have a decent selection of beers. The staff definitely hustles as they get busy towards late afternoon.
