They need to fix the parking problem. Rent a lot, shuttle people in with a golf cart or something. When you can't even get into a restaurant to start with its a bummer. All the local businesses have put up "No Hoo Doo Brown parking". That is how bad this is. Today was so bad, the three people decided to go up the road to Chucks. No problem there. I have eaten here in the past when I could get a spot, and its ok. Really nothing spectacular, and I don't get all these 5 star reviews. Great place to visit during a chilly holiday evening! Had the great opportunity to see the pit master in action outside with the barrel smokers, dozens of pork butts, huge skin on pork bellies, and hundreds of wings! Delicious. The housemade sausages of the day were great, with jalapeño cheddar, and a new "tamale" flavor with actual Maza on the inside. Nachos are great and loaded, we all left fat and happy. read more

Came here for lunch one weekend as I've heard so many good things about the BBQ. My friend and I shared the brisket poutine and it was amazing. The brisket was so tasty, the gravy, the fries, the cheese - all of it, delicious. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich for my meal with pickles, and red onions. The pulled pork wasn't my favorite, I've had better. I did enjoy the sauces they give you on the table, both were very tasty. The mac and cheese was disappointing, definitely my least favorite part of the meal. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. If I came back I'd definitely try more brisket. read more

The food here is without a doubt some top tier BBQ, with a scent of delicious brisket that will 100% work up a appetite. Me personally, I'm a big fan of ribs when it comes to traditional American BBQ, and this does NOT disappoint. Even right now just thinking about it makes me tempted to make the drive. The one thing that drives me to occasionally not go is the sometimes absurd wait. Many a time have I gone and have been told that there was a 40-60 minute wait. Sadly, I believe this place is going downhill and with its location it should always be packed Been going there for years even the first week they were open and love the place. Parking was always a major problem, but certainly not this time. Was able to find a spot front and center. Went to a time which you would expect would be somewhat busy yet only a few cars and I can see why. I went with the usuals few dishes that I got over the years. They were out of a beer which is unique to their restaurant and quite surprised as it was at the beginning of a weekend. so settle for something else. Seems like they've had some turnover and staff as majority of the people there were all new with the exception of the owner always sits around in an unhappy manner as the " boss". Someone else in the food space mentioned to me that their pricing changes for the exact same meal at certain times during the day. I found it odd but I did order one item for in-house and did another order to go and there was a $4 up charge even though it was smaller portions. I didn't know the meat portions in the house were definitely smaller than they used to be yeah paying the exact same price. The interior spaces, the exact same as it used to be maybe some more hanging hats on the walls. Bathroom still smells awful , that's a recurring issue at this place. They just don't seem to care about. Dessert was also something not very thought out putting a dessert in a smallmouth mason jar yet providing a spoon, which is about 3 inches smaller so you can't actually get the items to the bottom. Sadly The place just shows poorly run with new competition coming to town will probably be out of business in the next few years if he keeps up this type of mentality. read more

Wow! The wait here is always crazy so our expectations were already high, but this joint did not disappoint. It was 6pm on a Thursday and we only had to wait 15 minutes to sit inside (compared to the 1.5 hour wait we were given on a Saturday night at 6pm) so naturally, knowing this is our chance, we ordered essentially everything on the menu. We had: the deviled eggs, the nachos with pork, the battle of ridgefield sandwich, the Thursday special smoked prime rib, the Mac and cheese, the pit beans, the cornbread, the 1/2 pound of brisket, and the wings. Major highlights were the wings and the nachos. Like, we would go back every week just for those. Otherwise, the meat was great but the bbq sauce was the real star. Their local beers on tap were always amazing! Maybe it's just covid but they had Maine and Three Floyds both on tap which was awesome. I had never been to a BBQ place before this one. That being said I didn't know what to expect. But solid food with a pretty roomy interior. That is what we got here. We had a big group, so we order the table breaker and I got to try everything. The table breaker had a little of everything and for $139 it seemed like a reasonable price. Especially with there being 9-10 of us. Heres the run down: The wings were great, nice flavor and a little kick to them. They have no breading on them, it's more of a light sauce. The brisket was tender and although it didn't have the smokiness I expected it to have. The ribs had a dryer rub on them. As for sides my favorite was the mac and cheese. The brisket is even served with some pickles. I tried literally everything pulled pork, wings, brisket, chicken, ribs, mac and cheese, corn, etc. I loved it all. The cornbread was real good too. Light and freshly baked it was delicious. Perfect compliment to the meal. Hoodoo accommodated our big group rather easily and allowed us to leave full at a good price. There were no leftovers. Our waitress was amazing too. Interesting that some water started leaking from the ceiling onto our table and she apologized and even gave us some free more wings for the inconvenience. Here is what happened: I placed a decent order of meats to have for a bbq dinner. Was told it would be 20 mins and they would buzz me. Ok. At 30 mins I waited in line to do a check. When I arrived at the counter the woman looked at me and yelled to the back nervously that I was there. Someone comes to the front and says - we accidentally gave your order to someone else. But he is on the way back, will be here in 10 mins, and you can get your food then. What? You want me to take the food someone else has had in their possession for over 20 mins? No I don't want the food you gave him. I would like a new order. There are possibly health issues here. They apologize. Say they understand and will comp my dinner. I say how about a put together a new order, it a big order so no need to comp. Then I say how about dessert instead - that comping it all is too much. I'd like one of the pies. They say yes. The person who had my order arrives. They give him his order and say keep my order bc they can't sell it. And then they say we don't have that you paid so need you to pay for your order. He says I paid and they say ok. He leaves with over $250 worth of food. And ps after he leaves they check the system and tell me he didn't pay. Then they give me my order. And say, we are cutting you a slice of pie. Wait. A slice? I placed a big order. You gave it away to someone plus his order which he didn't pay for. You offer to comp my meal and I feel that is too generous and ask for a pie. And you cut a slice? So you: Tried to give me food given to someone else. (Had I not inquired you would have done that. You said it was your plan.) You gave a lot of food to someone who stole from you. And my comp was a slice of pie. I think the owners / business manager should work with the take out team. I have mixed feelings about this place. The service was slow but our server was extremely friendly and patient. Half of the items we ordered were delicious and the other half not so much. The fried green tomatoes were really good and beautifully battered but the tomatoes were cut so thin that it could've been anything inside and I couldn't tell the difference. The brisket was too lean and ate dry and the pork belly was so fatty that I found it inedible which says a lot considering I don't have an issue with eating fat. The collard greens were disappointing and didn't have much flavor and felt more like a throw away side, whereas I usually look forward to a good side of collard greens. Now for some good news, these were the best smoked ribs I've ever had, cooked to perfection! The sausages were excellent as well. I normally wouldn't choose to eat sausage with such a beautiful array of meats on the table, but they were so good... with the delicious crispy exterior, perfect amount of fat ratio, beautifully smoked, and the cheese in the middle just put it over the top! by the way, don't overlook the corn bread, they don't look like anything special but they were delicious as well with just the right amount of sweetness and texture. Went here for dinner with the family. We waited for our table , it was worth it. We ordered brisket , crispy pork belly and half chicken all was cooked well , juicy and flavorful. Sides was great too love the Brussel sprouts. I would like to give a shout-out to Kyleigh our tray with some chicken and pork left one of the serves mistakenly took it away. She spoke to the kitchen and they gave us a chicken and pork bbq to take home. She didn't have to do that but this is how this place operates they have just gained a regular customer. This is only for takeout because I've only eaten here during the pandemic but damn the food is good. Meats - the half chicken is delicious, brisket is cooked to perfection and the jalapeño sausage is exactly what you'd expect - tons of flavor and spicy. Really loved it. The fried green tomatoes are worth getting 2 orders. Sides - The cornbread is amazing (although for $8 it's a VERY small portion0, as are the beans (not quite what you'd expect). The collard greens are spicy and contain pork (not clarified on their site, which I assume shouldn't affect many people eating here to begin with, but it should say!) The main thing that is frustrating is the lack of communication - it takes 5 seconds to update a site saying they're no longer taking orders for the evening (or even a voicemail box), but instead the phone just rings and rings. Don't bother on a weekend if you haven't placed an order earlier or made a reservation - the wait was 1.5 hours for TAKEOUT last time I tried!! Out for a Sunday afternoon drive and stopped for a late lunch. About 1/2 hour wait - not bad! Seated and ordered BBQ wings. Big, juicy and saucy. Taste was great. Downside? Not hot at all. Not cold but just barely room temperature. We ordered pulled pork and a Battle of Ridgefield sandwich. Both were fantastic. The meat was juicy and very well accompanied on the sandwiches. Now the not so great. For sides we ordered cole slaw, fries and interstellar potatoes. The cole slaw was not edible. Sour doesn't even begin to explain the flavor. Fries were ok but nothing special and the interstellar potatoes had little to no flavor. I believe they are supposed to be like scalloped potatoes but fell very short on flavor. Took the hour and 15 minute drive out since they've been on our radar. This weekend they had some collab with a Houston joint so it was the perfect time. We waited maybe half an hour and were accurately quoted wait time. Waitress was friendly and gave suggestions but she was definitely very busy. We were going hard since we drive so far and bbq leftovers are equally delicious the next day. We started w specials, brisket fried rice and pork belly burnt ends. I didn't enjoy the burnt ends. Flavor was great but the fat wasn't cooked down enough so it was mildly chewy. My husband has also recently perfected these at home so I could be bias. The rice, life changing! We argued about it having Cajun or old bay seasoning but it definitely had large amounts of black pepper as well that played so well w the Smokey brisket and the umami of fried rice. We then tried the mains. The brisket was probably the best I've had. You don't need sauce but I really enjoyed the mustard base. Brisket was moist, seasoned perfectly and cooked to literal perfection. They have mastered brisket. They also mastered the beef rib. I picked this bad boy up and it just pulled meat from bone. So beefy, but so flavorfully seasoned. The sausage was a miss for me which was really sad because it's my fav at a bbq joint. The casing was dry and pulled from sausage which was chewy and just not appealing at all. For sides we got pit beans and Mac. Mac was ok but it's just not my fav style. I prefer baked and gooey so I can't fault them for my preference. It was good for the style. The beans tho, THE BEANS!! Perfectly cooked and done with a maple syrup instead of molasses. This left them w a lighter feel and the the maple was so prominent and delightful! I would put these beans up against any bean at any bbq joint and bet they win. I can't forget the house peach tea which was phenomenal. I'm a huge tea fan and this had enough peach to be tasty but not knock you out. Lastly, the banana pie... I would do things I'm not proud of for this pie and then I'd do them again. Fresh whip stacked on top of a bourbon banana pudding that's got fresh sliced bananas inside. The crust of nilla wafers was buttery and crumbly and had a nice crunch still. The pudding, rich and creamy and the sliced banana gave the perfect pop of texture and were at the best stage of ripeness to sit inside that pudding. I literally dragged my fork across the plate to grab any remaining signs of pie left. I would give this pie 1200 stars. I'd like to hug the pie maker and then beg for their recipe. My family goes to HooDoo often since they're not far from it. I'm ALWAYS looking for a good bbq spot. This one did NOT fail! I live in the South Bronx, so I had a commute! My bbq spots are Hudson Smokehouse in the Bronx and Dinosaur Bbq in Harlem. Love them both.. Don't remember how I stumbled upon their feature on the Food Network or Travel Channel. However, I did!! I saw a drink called The Holy Trinity! It's a bloody Mary topped with a full rib, nice slice of brisket, bout a 2 inch piece of the smoked cheddar sausage, a sliced jalapeño and a sliced dill pickle soaked in moonshine, who knew?!!!! Anyway, we ordered Texas Poutine, large nachos, and chili as our apps. Poutine, not my speed. Chili is smoky and seemingly delicious (I only had a spoonful). Why? Because the nachos are the BOMB!!! So, we nibbled our mains... I ordered garlic parm wings. I was NOT expecting a full-on garlic paste rub or whatever, but there it was! The taste was different for me, not bad, just different. Garlic parm wings come powdered down. These were different. Like there's a bowl that each wing is basted in individually in this garlic paste... our sides were mac and cheese and potato salad. Sorry, Chris. Those shells and cheese are NOT hitting at ALL!!! There needs to be (IMHO) a different noodle, diced cheese, eggs, butter, milk, a little salt/pepper, and a baking dish! Now, the potato salad.. I don't know what I was expecting. Only the Dinosaur rivals potato salad that I grew up with, and that's STRETCHING it! But the flavor of this potato salad, for ME, was in the potato! I think they boiled the potatoes with dill, onion, blah, blah blah!!! Either way, I enjoyed it! Very good service during Covid-19. The staff are very friendly. Went there on Sunday and we had to wait for the table about 40 minutes but that's what we told, so no complain. I ordered Brisket home. It's very good. In fact it's better than pork ribs. The trick is you have order pork ribs home and eat the brisket there. Pork ribs still look red inside but once you slow cook at home, it's amazing. I like Cajun smoked wings too. They're not spicy and quite tender. We ordered 6 but they gave 7, wow! They price is similar to Texas so don't feel like a rip off. read more

I have been hearing about this place for some time and I was afraid it would underperform but no way, no how. From the minute you arrive in the parking lot the smell just pulls you in. The decor is what you would expect from a barbecue place. We sat at the bar and to be honest I think we had the best seat in the house. Jamie and Sam were great and the regulars who were at the bar were so much fun. For drinks we had beer, margaritas and we ended up with Sangria. The Sangria es really good. For our meal I ordered the half rack of pork ribs and my girlfriend ordered a link of jalapeño sausage and an order of pork belly as well. For our sides we had the Mac n cheese and the seasoned fries. Our order could have served at least 5 people. The taste was out of this world. This barbecue rivals anything you would try and a traditional down south barbecue joint. It was that good!!! I guess the best thing you can say is that this place does not need any fork or knives--you gotta get your hands and fingers dirty. You will not be disappointed.
