Brisket is delicious great bark and really moist on the inside, you have to get ragin cagin wings not they are not spciy but perfect as you taste the smoke just a little sauce with dry herbs. Ribs are also good, with the bone just popping out and the cornbread is something great and so bigi eat the other half next day with coffee. The best non brisket thing to get is the sweet potato fries, its something i never order anywhere else but i have to every time I'm here they're definitely perfect. Decided to come here based some awesome reviews from other Yelpers. Sadly, I was majorly disappointed. First, I ordered a Sprite/7up and it tasted like straight-up club soda. I sent it back and got a new one that finally tasted like lemon lime soda. Ordered nachos with shredded pork on it. They literally came within a few minutes of ordering them. Tasty but cold. Cheese sauce, chips and meat were fantastic but it would have tasted better (and I would have eaten more of it) if they were hot. Next we ordered a burger with bleu cheese, bacon and it came with fries. Fries were fantastic! I got some sliced turkey with mac and cheese and both were lukewarm. Mac and cheese had pimentos in it and I didn't care for it at all. I tried a little of the sauces on the table thinking I would put some on the turkey but both tasted horrible to me. Last, we ordered a chocolate bread pudding with ice cream. Not bad, but I've had better. We got here around 5:15pm or so and the place was packed! It took us a little while to find a parking space. This review is based solely on the catering. We love the food in the restaurant but will never go again based on the lack of response from management. We catered over $800 worth of food for a gathering at our house with friends. We had many people come from out of state and we raved about this food. Through emails with Chris, we placed our order, verified our order 2 days before and verified pick up time. My husband arrived at the time we were given for pick up and the food was not only not ready, but they had no idea what he was talking about, as they didn't have an order. Thankfully I was able to forward the emails to him and he was able to show them to the woman doing the takeout/pickup stuff. Apparently there was also another person there that this was happening to as well. My husband finally was given the food, and came home an hour late and people already at our house. We opened the food and were disgusted with what we saw. I'm not sure if this food was left over from night before or had been sitting out from the morning but the slaw was drowning in watery vinegar to the point we had to toss it because it was a soggy, wilted mess. The mac and cheese was so dry and the edges were dried out, it was also not touched and was tossed. It seemed as if it had been sitting out. The chicken was dry again as if it were left over or reheated. The only food that was good was the pulled pork and brisket. My husband asked for a manager and was told they weren't available, he asked for someone to call us and left our number. A few days later I followed up with an email to Chris. No reply. I called 3 more times over the course of 3 weeks and 2 more emails. No reply, no apology, no refund for hundreds of dollars of shit food and service. The worst part is we catered wings for my daughter's birthday in January and the same exact thing appended. We let it go because the money we spent was much less. But it seems to be common occurrence. I will never order from them again and at this point I will never give their restaurant business even on site. The customer service was nice but the food lacked flavor. The Mac and cheese had pimento cheese in it? Either way we couldn't finish it bc we found a hair in it. The potato salad had a slimy texture and was tasteless. Corn bread was chewy, and again flavorless. Smoked turkey was alright but nothing to write home about. Brisket was ok but not as tasty as it should be. The bbq sauce was cold...Texas BBQ is usually served with a sauce that's more runny and tangy, this tasted more like something that came out of a bottle and it was slightly sweet. Outstanding. Just outstanding! Every single dish I ate today was phenomenal. The poutine is a must try. The wings are hands down some of the best wings I've ever eaten. Great Texas style BBQ. Its served in an interesting family style that you pull off a big tray and put on your tray to eat. A few times the brisket rub has been a bit thick and I had to scrape it off but otherwise moist and jucy with a great ring around the edges. Ribs chicken etc phenom. At times they get Uber busy so parking can suck as well as wait times sometimes for an hour on a weekend evening. Literally drove two hours out of my way with a friend after work to see what all of the hype was about this place. Glad to say that I wasn't disappointed one bit. The waitress we had was excellent and caring, she even hooked us up with a tour of the smokers and such. There wasn't a wait (big plus!) but when we asked to see the whiskey menu we were informed it was out of date and we could walk over to the bar and pick what we wanted. I don't know much about whiskey and a little guidance would have helped. Appetizers were on point - nachos and poutine. Entrees, not so much. My friend had to put BBQ sauce on our catfish, it was so bland. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich; the only flavor I picked up was from the cole slaw. But the next day we were all in pain from the food. 2 of us were up half the night and I felt like I had slept with a salt lick in my mouth! Not sure why it is always packed but maybe because there's not a lot of other BBQ in the area. Based on a recent experience I will not be going back. My daughter placed a $200+ takeout order for a small party and was made to wait over an hour after she was told the order would be ready. No apologies, no adjustment to the bill and no extras offered for their inconvenience. On top of that, a member of their party was refused permission to use the men's room because they were not sit down customers. Excellent place to eat. I drove 2 hours to come here because of how much I heard about this place. Food was excellent. I went on Prime Rib Thursday and it exceeded my expectations. I was very impressed by the great staff and how welcoming they were. I definitely wasn't a fan of my commute however the experience made it worth the trip 1000%!. I will absolutely return and make the trip it's amazing! On my trip I had the poutine and wings to start out with both amazing and full of flavor. Amazing food and staff. Decided to try this restaurant based on my daughters recommendation as she had been there once before in addition to great reviews and pictures on Yelp. Went around 4:00 on a Saturday, parked right in front. Wait was not bad at all. Went into bar and had a drink while salivating ,looking at the food on other peoples tables. Started with the poutine fries topped with brisket and gravy which were delicious, followed by brisket, ribs, chicken, pork belly, cornbread, corn on the cob and coleslaw, all amazing. We followed this by ordering the bread pudding and banana cream pie which were both delicious. The deserts are all homemade. Staff were extremely friends, especially Chris, who came over and sat with us, explaining the background of the restaurant. We had friends visiting from out of town and attempted to go here on a Saturday night. I get it, weekends are busy. They do not take reservations for parties of ten or less. They had a two hour wait originally and it quickly escalated to more than two hours for a party of 4. I inquired about takeout and was told that would also be over an hour wait. I could barely tell who worked there when I waked in. We left, disgusted, and ate at Little Pub in Ridgefield which was wonderful! This was not our ( husband and I) first trip to Hoodoo. We try to make the trip once a year for lunch on a Friday. It's about an hour and half drive one way maybe longer depending on traffic . The food is delicious. Melt in your mouth brisket and fall off the bone pork ribs. The sides are to die for. The sweet and spicy brussel sprouts are out of this world. Our only issue is that there is no parking for the restaurant . Like zero . We had to circle around for 20 min. to get a spot and the restaurant wasn't even busy! I guess it's the surrounding businesses that take up all the surrounding spots. And the other disappointment was there were out of all desserts and we were not told of this until we had already eaten our meats . I've been thinking about bread pudding or the s'mores cake for months. It's just disappointing when you only come once a year and have to deal with parking issues and then they don't even have the desserts you've been dreaming of. This really was the best brisket I have ever eaten. Don't get distracted by the Hogzilla sandwich or the special, 5 bacon slabs served in a jar, or even a mixed platter of all meats. Have the brisket - a large helping so you can share with whoever at your table foolishly ordered something else! Went for lunch just before Christmas and the whole place was over the top decorated for the holidays. The staff were all in full costume as elves or reindeer and the owner was dressed as Santa.
