For my birthday lunch, we made a last-minute decision to stop by Hook'd Bar & Grill at 116 Lake View Dr., Santa Barbara, CA, and I'm glad we did! As soon as we looked over the menu, the Tri-Tip Sandwich caught our attention. Before ordering, we asked what time they closed, and Brad told us they closed at 4:00 PM. Since it was getting close 10 minutes to closing time, we didn't want to be a bother, but Brad kindly told us, "Don't worry about it, enjoy your sandwich. We can wait until you're finished." That kind of customer service is hard to find these days and made us feel truly welcome. Now, let's talk about the food. The Tri-Tip Sandwich was absolutely delicious tender, juicy, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Between the outstanding customer service and the amazing food, this was a wonderful birthday lunch experience. A big thank you to Brad and the staff for making us feel at home. We spent Memorial Day Weekend at Cachuma Lake for some much needed family time, and what a wonderful surprise this place turned out to be. The Goat Cheese and Arugula Burger was absolutely fire , and to make the experience even better, they had live music from 4 PM to 8 PM. We had no idea this campground had such a hidden gem, but we're so glad we found it. Great food, great atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings what more could you ask for? I just stayed 2 wonder nights overlooking Lake Cachuma. I underestimated the heat out there, so I did what anyone would do - I grabbed food and beer from the local restaurant on the premises. Customer service was excellent. The workers there were very pleasant to talk to. Food & drinks are a little pricey, but you're paying for the scenery. The menu did seem a little limited and I was a little bummed they close so early. Nevertheless, I did enjoy my time, food and drinks here. I'd definitely come back. read more

We planed the trip dependent on this (so we can bring less meat) We came a little before dinner time (before 6pm) and it was packed inside and out. We found some tables indoors. The food was a bit pricey but tasted good. There were too few chicken fingers for the kids set. Even a 4year old finished the fingers. So I ended up getting too much fries and had to +$2 to change to a sweet potato fries when I did the second order of chicken fingers They cleared up when we left. Stopped by for lunch while camping. Very convenient location. Things are a little pricey, but that's the price you pay for convenience. I got the tri-tip sandwich. Bread was good. Meat had a good, smokey flavor, but it was dry and on the over-cooked side. They do have a full bar, and the drinks we got were decent. Good assortment of beers and ciders. There was a big delay in getting our order as they forgot to put it in, but they fixed it quickly and even gave us a free drink. If you're feeling lazy and don't want to cook at your campsite, good choice for some food. read more

What a pleasant surprise to have a nice restaurant right at Cachuma Lake campgrounds. Located right at the edge of the water, you can sit inside or outside - they're also dog-friendly outside, which is always a plus. Full bar inside with a small but decent menu. Their special smoked brisket quesadilla was DELICIOUS. Packed with tender, flavorful brisket and cheese, it was much larger than I was expecting. The tri-tip sandwich was decent, albeit a bit dry - wouldn't order it again. As I said, a good drink selection. They had some great canned ciders as well as a tasty, spicy Bloody Mary. There's not too much shade outside, so if the weather is hot, I'd avoid sitting outside. Definitely a bit more expensive. We paid nearly $80 for two meals and two drinks. Hook'd Cafe is a cute, quirky lakeside cafe. When you pull up there's plenty of parking and the place is in a great location. The outdoor patio is clean and inviting. The inside is a bit darker with some awesome taxidermy on the walls. Brad met us at the counter and if you like super sweet, cute men with great smiles and wonderful personalities, you'll like Brad. If you like great service, again, you'll like Brad. We split the Cachuma Burger and an order of 50/50 onion rings/fries (well done) and we drank ice teas. The burger was great. He knew when I told him we were splitting it, to cut it in half. I didn't have to ask although I realized I should have but it was nice that I didn't have to. That's another thing. Brad probably said 5 times during our interaction "we got you." And they did! Another example of that would be when I chased him down a few minutes after we ordered and told him I forgot to ask for well-done fries and ranch on the side. He said "I got you" and "we serve the fries and onion rings with ranch so we got that too!" He was happy to provide what we asked for and most of it we didn't even need to ask. He really does have it covered. Back to the burger, it was really good! I shoved an onion ring in it for good measure and it was delicious!!!!! The well done onion rings and fries were really good. Both the ranch and the iced tea are homemade, and that's a good thing. All in all I give this place an 8.75 out of 10. I may up that score when I go back and try the tri tip sandwich. (One more thing. You know how they say the mark of a great restaurant or diner is that they do five or 10 things exceptionally well instead of 50 things mediocre? This place does about 10 things and I'm gonna go ahead and assume that they do them well, so I'll definitely be back!) read more

This is my go-to spot when we visit Cachuma. The food, service and atmosphere are spectacular. We always plan to have a least one meal here when we visit. There are dog bowls for our pup and she loves hanging out under the table. We're here for like the 6th or 7th time on a Saturday afternoon in September. My gf had the Veggie Grilled Cheese with Gluten Free Bread which is her favorite. And with the combo she added Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. Let's just say, I ate half the fries! They give you this buttermilk ranch sauce to dip in. It's freakin amazing. I got the Tr-tip sandwich with Onion Rings as a combo. They include a side of salsa for the sando and ketchup for the rings. The tri-tip was cooked perfectly and the bread was fresh and the perfect combination of soft and crunchy. The onion rings were fresh and hot and ginormous. They provided a satisfying crunch with each bite. We couldn't finish everything for lunch so we'll have a little midday snack to finish our meal which is just about the most perfect situation you could ask for. read more

On my drive to Solvang stopped at this Marina restaurant. The menu is limited but I had a delicious chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. It sounded good so I got it. Also ordered their plant-based burger. All was smiles and friendly conversations--then we headed outside to find a seat. It was almost a flawless transaction--until we got the food. The salad unfortunately didn't have any walnuts. It was literally just sprinkled on crumbs. Main reason I got it was because it's a walnut salad. But had no walnuts. When we told the young lady, she said they just ran out of walnuts and had to 86 the salad. The restaurant just barely opened and the young lady was advertising the salad. I get that maybe if she didn't know they ran out, the chef should have told her and maybe she could have told us and gave us the option to pick something else or refunded us. The issue is that they still served it and gave it to us incomplete. Without even telling us hoping maybe we'd just eat it and not say anything. It's a $16 salad. We returned the salad for a refund and now the salad is possibly wasted and thrown in the trash simply because of the miscommunication on the restaurant's end. The runner was very helpful though and very accommodating. He was friendly and had a good attitude. I was very surprised to find that this place was really good, considering it's campground food and the only option for miles around. The service was great - all workers were super nice, and even a lot of the other customers were really nice too! I guess it makes sense since we were all on vacation at an outdoor campsite with boats and fishing, so everyone was relaxed and stuff. I really liked the tri-tip burrito (breakfast 8:00-11:30) and the tri-tip sandwich (lunch 11:30-5:00). The people in my group that tried these also really liked them, after I recommended it. It could be seen as pricey, about $12-17 for a meal, but since I'm from the bay area it was pretty typical to me and the portions were fair.
