Me & the boo thang visited Hook Line & Schooner as a quick little lunch date on a Saturday! We started with the lobster & shrimp ragoon, which were freshly fried & came with a sweet chili sauce! Delicious! We then shared a fried platter with Catfish, Shrimp & Scallops which also came with hush puppies, fries & slaw. The only 2 hang ups I have about the platter is the fish lacked flavor & their was a lot of oil excess oil. However, everything was FRESH!! Was not for me. The quality of the food was a huge miss for me. I didn't particularly enjoy any part of my meal even the drink.. we were gifted a chocolate cheesecake to share which was kind of the staff. We didn't make a fuss about our food or complain. The cheesecake thing was just something nice our waiter offered. My friend did order the mussels which she said she enjoyed although she said the sauce was very cream based. Heavy on the cream, thickness wise. More for a pasta sauce than musses BUT she did say it was flavorful. The staff a very nice and I believe it's a family owned establishment. read more

The star is the oysters...I told the bartender I should've just ordered a dozen of each! I had the stuffed salmon and it wasn't what i thought. Salmon wasn't terrible but didn't hit the mark. The spinach wasn't good. The potatoes were overcooked and bland. Mussels were ok but not a lot of flavor there either. read more

So. The wait staff were excellent. Never had to ask for refills or condiments. The food was just ok. We ordered the 1/2 lb grilled crab legs with corn and potatoes, caesar salad, side mac and cheese, garlic green beans, salmon dip, crab dip, rangoon, and grilled shrimp tacos. For the life of me, I'll never understand why restaurants serve crab legs topped with seasoning. The only thing that is seasoned is the shell, not the crab meat so your hands get really messy for nothing. I think the grilled flavor of the crab was good because it tasted like it was smoked but, over all, my niece and I did not enjoy the crab. It was just too messy. I would say, offer gloves to customers just in case. The rest of the food was ok. Overall, out of everything we ate, the mac and cheese was the best. The restaurant was cute and the vibe was nice. This one my first visit here. We made reservations on the patio and arrived a little early, but were still seated promptly. The servers were all wearing masks. They give you an option of plastic ware or normal silverware. They were a little short staffed, so it seemed a little chaotic and service was a little lacking. I ordered the stuffed salmon and the sampler of oysters. The salmon was delicious and so was the creamed spinach. The potatoes left a little something to be desired. It needed salt and pepper, or some sort of seasoning. I was given the wrong order of oysters, I assume it was the down south oysters, and I ordered the oyster sampler. I didn't want to waste them and my waiter didn't come back for awhile, so I just ate them and let it go. They were delicious, just not what I asked for. My friend ordered the fish and chips. Her fish was delicious, and so were the hush puppies. The fries were not hot, more so in between the cold and warm area. All in all, I'd probably come back and try something else. Mediocre food, really poor service. I dined in this past Saturday night, the restaurant was not too busy. We ended up waiting 20 minutes for a server to ask us for our drink orders. Drinks were not replenished on a frequent basis. Then it took another 20 minutes to order food. The food was okay, but very overpriced for what you get. I am good with paying more for quality food, but the quality was not there. It was clear that we were dissatisfied with the service, but nothing was done to improve. Ambiance is airy, light sea /beach vibe, wooden tables, booths, inside bar and a covered outdoor patio. Attire is business casual to casual. =. Recently visited Hook Line & Schooner for an early evening dinner and I'll definitely be back for more. I called and made a reservation out of precaution for 5pm as I wanted a patio seat. The gentleman who answered the phone said it'd be fine as they're usually dead around 5/6 but are swamped at 7 so be aware of peak time because this place can get PACKED. Once we arrived, we were immediately seating under the covered outdoor patio. Tables were distant and staff had gloves and masks. Great service by the way. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, quick, and kept safe distance. *just a side note, there was a customer who was visibly loud and rude to our server but she managed to keep her cool, but PLEASE be respectful to your servers. They work hard and try their best especially during a pandemic!* On to the food....just so good! I wasn't expecting this type of place to have an extensive drink menu or a good one but I actually ordered a mule and it was delicious. We also ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and again so flavorful and delicious. The sweet and sour sauce and spicy mayo sauce were great additions to the plate. Finally, I ordered the grilled snow crab legs and oh my god....I didn't want this meal to end. The crab legs were flavorful and grilled to perfection. The corn and potatoes on the side were seasoned and grilled so well. Honestly couldn't have asked for a better dinner plate. Can't wait to come back. I've dined in and carried out - both have been great experiences. Dine in on March 2019 for a birthday celebration. It's not a large restaurant and it was mid week so the crowd was minimal. Great time for our group of 8. It's located in a cute plaza right off the highway. There's other eateries nearby. Everyone had something different so we could try multiple items off the menu and we ordered a few appetizers. The loaded nachos were amazing! (This was over 1 year ago and I still remember them). There were no complaints! The items pictured were from my recent delivery order. For whatever reason, we never made it back but thanks to covid19 we are steadily eating out and trying new things when we can. The service was great a year ago and Portions were ample. HL&S is located right off of South Atlanta Rd in the West Village complex, it's an awesome live/work/play community with several great restaurants and businesses. There is ample parking, although it can be tricky to find a spot during peak dining hours. Although the food is ok, I'm just not overly impressed with Hook Line and Schooner. We went for dinner and sat at the bar, and the bartender was super nice but acted SO disheveled and scatterbrained the entire time....may have just been an "off day"? Lobster and Shrimp Rangoons were a good little starter, I think what made these good was the sweet Thai chili sauce...honestly though what isn't good with this stuff?! The meals come with a salad to start plus 2 sides, so there is quite a bit of food! I was a little disappointed in my order...the Mahi was under seasoned and the citrus butter that came with it lacked any addition flavor that the fish needed. The broccoli was HUGE...honestly they need to cut those down into better bite sized pieces. I didn't even want to eat it because it was too much work to make them edible!! However the Brussel Sprouts are killer, then again...kind of like the chili sauce, nothing sucks when it's deep fried with parmesan right? One plus is that they're currently in the Atlanta Dining Passbook, which is good for a BOGO meal. In the end, I wasn't super impressed with the food here. Very "middle of the road" for me. read more
