Was pretty disappointed, ordered a strawberry daiquiri which is one of their drink specials, so you would think it would be on point, ummm no , not at all. When we told the waitress she just brought more mix to the table and slushed it between the two cups. :( it was taken off the bill. This has the worst food I have ever eaten. Not sure if it was to soon after the hurricane for them to serve food, but everything was nasty, over cooked, or undercooked. For the price you should get more food selection and the pans should be full at all times. I will never go back when I come gor vacation. read more

Five stars for service, Charlie was attentive,courteous, and and very very helpful with the menu. I wish they didnt have the mixed drinks on the table, it is Sunday and they don't have the liquor license to serve on Sunday so why have it as an option on The table. The buffet was great because it had crab legs and that's what I wanted. They were ok but hey crab legs are crab legs right. There were a few downs though like everywhere but hey it can be fixed if they read this and truly care. The head host was constantly on here phone which isn't a big deal but when your at work who gets to be on their phone right. Also I mentioned I wanted to write a review and the manager didn't even stop over and talk to us I mean really. We came here on vacation, looking for all you can eat crab legs. We were not disappointed. The crab legs were fresh and tasty. Overall selection was solid, with some good non seafood options. All I can comment on is the crab legs, tuna steak and flounder. The legs and flounder were great, the tuna steak was a bit dry. The mixed drinks were kind of small/weak, but acceptable. Calabash is the big thing in Myrtle Beach and my friends and I wanted to know what the big deal was thus we came here instead of Captain George's. It was pretty empty which we figured would happen since we came in the off season. We were seated at two different tables since our group was so large. Our waiter was nice and fast getting us all of our drinks and utensils which we greatly appreciated. After that we made our way to the buffets. That's when things took a different turn. There was a lot of variety offer that I will admit but as for the quality we were not impressed. The crab legs were leaking water like they had been overdone. The soup had a great deal of pepper in it and some of the cold items were like ice. The fish was hard and some stuff I didn't even want to take a chance on. I figured I would try some of stage fried stuff cause you can't really mess that up. To my surprise all of the fried food items were good. I went back up for fried shrimp when I got a chance. The fruit for dessert wasn't bad but we did all sample a slice of cheesecake and let's just say it turned into a game of who's face was the funniest. One person decided it was sawdust in disguise. I don't tend to write negative reviews, but this restaurant was absolutely awful. Hook's is worst place I've ever eaten in recent memory. This establishment reminds me of the scene from Vegas Vacation where cousin Eddy is dumping the yellow and the blue from the buffet bar on his plate. For four adults and a 2-year old the tab was $119 before tips. You'd expect some level of quality for that price. The food was very bland an unappealing. Nothing tasted quite right. The front door claims they have a A food safety rating, but I don't understand how. The single ice cream scoop everyone uses to serve themselves sits in a bucket of water. Multiple utensils for food were sitting in with the food, meaning all the bacteria and microbes from the handle can easily transfer to the whole container.Food aside, the service staff was very slow to come visit our table. There's a lot of options, but nearly everything is either overcooked/rubbery, flavorless, or just downright disgusting. The only thing I saw people eating was the crab legs. The bathroom also speaks for itself, NASTY. My mother in-law couldn't even fill a full plate. We munched mostly on the ROCK HARD rolls. The condiments were not placed out. Jose, our waiter, had to run out the condiments. By the time we received the condiments our supposed to be warm food was cold. Super clean, courteous, well-lit, well tended, and friendly environment. The selection was not as vast as Benjamin's and yet is was 100% better. Thlandslidee food was FRESH and seasoned perfectly, the facilities were CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, the staff was very friendly, and the manager was speaking with the customers. THE BIGGEST RIP OFF!!!! Ate there with my mother and two children and feel that they surely curtail their "Market Price" for the buffet based on what is sitting at the table. Absolutely terrible. Fish was dry, flies buzzing around everywhere, shrimp tasted like bleach, and every thing that was supposed to be warm was cold. They charge $27 for a Buffett that's not even worth $1. Stay clear of this place. We went to this restaurant for a late dinner and ordered seafood platter and seafood salad. Our water Jamie was very friendly. She informed us that that the restaurant couldn't get oysters for the long period of time and asked if it would be okay if they compensate oysters with shrimp. We agreed with the offer. Our food came out in about 15 min and looked very nice. I tried my fry and taste was very nice. To my deeply disappointment seafood in the salad were completely insipid and tasteless. The salad had no dressing at all. One side of the plate had so much pepper that I couldn't eat it. Mushrooms in the salad were old and also sliced at least day before. According to the menu my salad should have salmon, but the fish I got wasn't salmon at all. If I would guess it was mackerel. The seafood plate was better. At least fried shrimp were okay, but the fried fish was definitely way too dry. Another interesting fact. Did you ever heard that a restaurant of this size would not have their own website? Now you do. I guess, the owner either shame to himself and the business or doesn't care about either one of us. Now a question. Will you go to a restaurant if you would know ahead that neither one of your complains could reach the owner? Bottom line is unless there was not even the crumbs in your mouth for few days try to stay away from this place. read more

Excellent buffet with plenty of seafood items including King Crab legs. Employees are always friendly. Most people who complain about Hooks could not afford to eat there in the first place and then regret spending as much money as they did afterwards. I see that happening everywhere. I do not know how else to word it because Hooks has an excellent assortment of seafood. I have not been to another seafood buffet that offers King crab legs yet. I know Captain Georges does not and they are more expensive. The quality of seafood at Hooks also stands out along with their prime rib etc. read more

If compared to the competition, the selection is shabby at best, but it's a smaller restaurant; so.... Standing alone, the place is a typical seafood buffet. Most items are cooked well. They have a nice selection of both fried, broiled, and boiled items. The service was not bad, but it would take a pretty terrible server to screw up buffet style dining.
