After the service was completed - i was shocked by the reviews here. I literally found this company from ad sent to my house in those value packs with coupons and this was the second business i called due to service call being so expensive and Hoover offered a coupon. (YES PLEASE) Let me just say - they were more worried about my plumbing then i was. Lol! I was very cautious of not saying it was an EMERGENCY because you know other business like to charge extra but initally when i called it was a leak pin hole leak on my pipes. The female on the phone (I don't remember her name) was trying to offer me a date which she had to move something around but i didn't want her to do anything extra since it wasn't bad (AT THAT TIME). We booked after a few hours, then my plumbing escalated - of course i called back and she was happy to fit me in. Please note their scheduling are just like cabling hours they'll give you a large window but they will be there!!! After getting a quote which John the technician who answered all my questions and we even joked a little due to the situation - I felt like I was made a priority. He came out on Friday and was able to get the work done on Monday - the two guys (Rhyan/Dustin) working on it was awesome. They didn't mine when i asked to take pictures because the worked looked so great and they were reporting everything especially if they needed to leave to run to the hardware store. I was happy with pricing and also they have a membership which will give you a discount along with other benefits which covers future services calls as well. Get it!!! I am stunned at the bad experience with this company! I had worked with Hoover for plumbing and had a good experience. They talked me into "coverage". They came out to inspect my HVAC prior to the start of the air conditioning season. The technician spent all of his time evaluating the furnace and immediately indicated there was a crack in the Heat Exchanger and told me it needed to be replaced. Tried to show me the "crack" but it was difficult to see. When the tech came back with the sales guy the next day-he kind of back walked the fact that there was actually a crack. All they wanted to focus on was replacing the whole HVAC system and slamming the brand currently had and the company I had servicing this system. My BS detector was going off at this point. I had another reputable HVAC evaluate the unit and was told it did not have a crack in it and did not need to be replaced. All Hoover wanted to do was upsell and focus on selling me a newer side exhaust A/C unit. The inspection was 100% an opportunity to generate a sale only. Even after I very clearly indicated I did not want to replace right now. Think twice before engaging these folks. read more

Blake is quite an asset to your company. I couldn't be more pleased with his service. He was professional, quick, and very informative. I truly enjoyed listening to not only his diagnosis of my furnace, but everything that Hoover can provide, including electrical, plumbing, vent cleaning, etc. He explained the maintenance program, but was not pushy in anyway. Never deal with Hoover again. They installed a system in 2017, and now they're saying they never even sold it to me. Then I asked for an estimate to replace it and they want to charge 16k. The estimate guy and I looked up the part and it's a $3200 part. Even if I accept a markup to $6000, they couldn't tell me where the extra $10,000 is going. I'll take a fair price, but you can't even justify the price you're giving me, then you are a scam. On top of that, they started to berate my wife when she called about the estimate. They don't deserve my time or money. If I gotta spend $16,000, I'd rather pay it to a place that can justify their price and treat their customers like they want their money. read more

We hired Hoover to replace our central air conditioner this summer. They did a great job! The unit is very efficient and quiet.

We called them because they offered a coupon in our value saving pack. Had an AC problem. He came out and ran a diagnostic test and told us we had a system leak in our 5 year old system. He proceeded to tell us our repair might not fix the problem but he would add sealant and recharge the system for $1836. This will include a check next spring but if there was additional leakage he would have to search for parts. We declined the repair and paid for the in door fee and the diagnostic fee of $238. We then called another company who we paid $300 and the air is working fine. read more

We had another service in to remove a wall fan in our kitchen the day before. Unfortunately, the other service did not send an electrician, and they left live wires in the wall and an electrical receptacle without power. We discovered the powerless receptacle after the prior service provider left. Since we weren't impressed with the initial service provider, we reached out to Hoover Electric for assistance. They sent Shane to help that very day. The office staff called back at around 8am, and by 2pm Shane arrived to take a look at our problem. The first thing he did was provided a free home electrical inspection. That was a bonus! Next, he fished the wires out of the hole in our wall. I'm so glad we called them, because the caps the prior service provider placed over the live wires actually came off in the walls! He fished the caps out, and then the wires came out! Anyway, he confirmed the wiring was live, and being an experienced electrician, he immediately knew what the problem was! He figured out that the old wiring in our home ran from an electrical outlet under our kitchen window, directly to the fan. Years later, the homeowners wanted another outlet. They ended up running a line from the fan, down to the outlet that stopped working! I never would have guessed that. Well, our house is old, and did not have sufficient space to place a normal junction box or outlet. However, Shane was able to figure out a way to put in a GFCI circuit. Now we have an electrical outlet where the fan used to be, and both outlets work. Perhaps it is not ideal having an electrical receptacle so close to the ceiling, but it works for us. He even told me how we can finish fixing up the hole in our wall from the fan. That will be our weekend project! We'll be calling this company back for other home projects! read more

I too had Cody show up on the $89.00 drain inspection special, 45 minutes later he worked up an estimate for nearly $1000.00 to vent my kitchen sinks because that was the problem, not the drain. He didn't even look inside the plumbing. Thankfully he wasn't able to do it that day and we rescheduled for the next business day, giving me an opportunity to think the problem through. The next day I dug out my 20 year old spring drain snake and disconnected the trap, hand snaked out about 10 feet of the drain, reassembled everything and PRESTO! It was like new again! Just a bad experience. They tried to sell me 6300 dollars in repairs to fix what another plumber fixed for 225 dollars. Then they sold me a premium membership for 149 to fix all my plumbing needs. When I called them for a backed up dishwasher a few weeks later, they said if it's not connected to the main drain, they don't fix it. He just stuck his hand in, took a picture, and then tried to show me that everything was rusted and required and new AC unit. When I had DTE Come to do the same service, The only issue was that the pipe was clogged and needed to be released in order to stop the leak. Tech did a good job with removing and installing a garbage disposal I purchased ahead of time. I'd give him 5 He was at the home for one hour. I was charged $400. Was told on the phone that there is an $89 charge to come out and give estimate for work to be done and that it would be deducted if we had the company do the work. Not only was the $89 not deducted , but when I called to inquire about the price, I was told "no, the $89 is not deducted" and I'm "not just paying for a Tech to come out and do the work", I'm "paying for the office staff , liscenses they need to do thier job, vehicle gas, and the tools the tech uses"! The quote for the inspection was $89 however when Cody got there he did some very brief work on maintaining an HVAC wire and then quoted $240+ just for that + inspection. He had a friend come over to install a dishwasher and somehow all of the power blew- even to the main circuit board. Wanted to make an instance claim. Never gave me a written quote but just for the disposal was over $900. He said they charge over $680 an hour. Said my pipes were backwards. Was it.. --the damaged floor? --the burnt cabinet? --the inability to recognize which way water flows? --the inability to identify the main water shut-off valve? --the damage to a valve unrelated to the job at hand? --the helpful removal of spare parts without my permission? --the mess left behind? I had an issue with my sump pump discharge line in by backyard not draining and was coming out of the overflow pipe every time that the sump pump ran. I called Hoover out to take a look at the issue and they sent Garon over for an inspection of the issue. After inspecting in the issue for me we found that there was a calcium blockage in the discharge pipe underground. Garon gave me my options and as suggested I go with trying to descale the pipe to clear the blockage which I did. Travis and Matt came out to the house a few days later and spent the entire day working on clearing out debris and calcium from the pipe that had been built up of the years going above and beyond to get it cleaned so that I would not have to further spend to dig and replace the drain line. Their effort saved me a lot of money in the long run and I truly thankful for the effort they put in. I would highly recommend giving them a call for service. Glenn D. read more

I called Hoover to schedule an appointment with an electrician. They told me that they would send someone out the next day and they would call me 30 minutes before the person arrives. They couldn't give me a window of time or even a ball park estimate of what the service would cost. Just that there is a $89 charge that would be deducted if I decided to have the electrician do the service. I stayed home from my work office and called Hoover again around 10am to ask if there was a time frame they could give and was told that they would be calling me between 12pm-2pm. I continued to wait for someone to call me. By 3pm, I called again and was told that they did call but because there was no answer, they cancelled my appointment. They claimed that they inputted my phone number in their system incorrectly (yeah right) and if I would like to be added to the schedule tomorrow. Are you kidding me? I waited all day for a call and then was asked if I wanted to potentially waste another day at home waiting for someone to call? This is highly unprofessional, and I have never been put on a technician's schedule without a time or at least time window. This is completely unreliable and insensitive to customer's time. I would prefer to be told that their schedule is booked and to give me a reliable appointment time when it is available. That would be more genuine. Unbelievable. Typical cost to install a new outlet is $150. I've had this exact work done multiple times in the same home. Hoover charges $60 to come to the home with the promise that that charge would go toward the work. They then gave an estimate of $650 for a 10' run of cable for a new outlet off an existing line! This is criminal. The racket here is partner with Home Depot, go on as many calls as possible and do as little actual work as possible. If the work is agreed upon it is a 4x markup of what it should be. I will be filing a complaint. read more

The thermostat in our home stopped working due to a cut wire in the basement. This unfortunate incident left us without a working thermostat and, therefore, no heat. We called Hoover Electric who installed our new furnace in March 2020. The technician arrived on time, was polite, and figured out the problem right away-he estimated the cost to be $600 which we approved- although thought the cost was extremely high. He fixed the issue by installing a new wire between the thermostat and furnace. He finished the job in approximately two hours. With the cost being so high, we contacted the office supervisor and asked how 20 feet of wire and two hours labor could possibly cost $600? Scott called us back about our concern and he told us that a technician's time can cost up to $500/hour. We researched online for the average cost/hour for this type of technician in our area and it ranges from $65-$120/hour. This is according to fixr.com and HomeGuide.com. My hot water heater blew so I contacted Hoover and they came to my house to give me a quote for a new heater installation. SERIOUSLY overpriced. I got the job done through Lowes for a little more than 1/2 of what Hoover quoted me. They charged me 60 bucks for the visit and quote but no matter, I still saved a bunch of cash by NOT having them do the job. Agree with Ted S's review below. Their pricing is totally non-transparent. If they'd just serviced our furnace like we called them out to do, I'd give them five stars. However, we had a 2.5-year-old furnace installed by another company, which had no appointments for a month, so my husband called Hoover to come out, because they were available the following week (something like that). Hoover showed up, did the inspection/service and told my husband our 2.5-year-old furnace was the wrong size for the house. If we were lucky it might hang on a few years. As I was leaving work my husband called with the bad news. I put the phone on speaker and let him talk. He gave an explanation, then said our current furnace might last a year or two. By the time I got home I was a bit fried, said give us a quote in case we do decide to replace the thing. In the meantime I would contact the original company and have them take a look. Before we left the Hoover guy told us his estimate for new furnaces (he gave several options) were good for 30 days, and we might be lucky and the existing furnace could last the winter. He also said prices might go up in the new year, so that was something to keep in mind. With covid and labor and supply shortages it sounded plausible. But we were tired and a bit shellshocked. I did some research, asking around. Everyone seemed to indicate the furnace we had was the right size for our home. I called the original installer and had them came out. They ran some diagnostics and did a small patch job which should fix the error reading that came up. They also reminded us the furnace itself is still under warranty (even though the labor warranty had expired). I don't know if the guy from Hoover was working under commission or if he was new and made some mistake in calculations. That he kept shortening the potential lifespan of our furnace was a red flag, however. read more

Their prices are very high, found them through Home Depot. They said they are high because they guarantee everything but don't most business do that? Plus, they put in a hot water heater for us and put a huge company sticker on our furnace which we did not buy from or had serviced from them????? I tried to peel it off and am still working on it.
