After the service was completed - i was shocked by the reviews here. I literally found this company from ad sent to my house in those value packs with coupons and this was the second business i called due to service call being so expensive and Hoover offered a coupon. (YES PLEASE) Let me just say - they were more worried about my plumbing then i was. Lol! I was very cautious of not saying it was an EMERGENCY because you know other business like to charge extra but initally when i called it was a leak pin hole leak on my pipes. The female on the phone (I don't remember her name) was trying to offer me a date which she had to move something around but i didn't want her to do anything extra since it wasn't bad (AT THAT TIME). We booked after a few hours, then my plumbing escalated - of course i called back and she was happy to fit me in. Please note their scheduling are just like cabling hours they'll give you a large window but they will be there!!! After getting a quote which John the technician who answered all my questions and we even joked a little due to the situation - I felt like I was made a priority. He came out on Friday and was able to get the work done on Monday - the two guys (Rhyan/Dustin) working on it was awesome. They didn't mine when i asked to take pictures because the worked looked so great and they were reporting everything especially if they needed to leave to run to the hardware store. I was happy with pricing and also they have a membership which will give you a discount along with other benefits which covers future services calls as well. Get it!!! They charged me $1300-1500 for a sump pump replacement, including a $200+ after hours fee (At around 6pm). I needed a new water heater and they quoted me $3300. I compared 3 companies and they offered me the best quote. My technician (Wesley) was also super nice and knowledgeable. He worked so hard that I thought he was rained on when I later checked on him. He was efficient and skilled. Did a wonderful job with my sump pump and cleaned out my sump pump really well too. I ended up joining their family plan because it was a good deal with the repair. Absolutely terrible experience. I called this HVAC company for what should have been a straightforward refrigerant issue, but they barely looked at the system before jumping straight to a quote for over $2,000 in new USELESS components. No meaningful diagnostics, no simple checks, no effort to confirm the actual problem. Just a fast, expensive upsell. After doing my own homework and a simple YouTube video I found the issue myself (a leak around the cap) and recharged and fixed it for $225. That tells you everything you need to know about their honesty and competence. $1200 for 2 lbs of coolant!! (This costs $150). $461 for a $25 capacitor and contactor $415 for a foam spray cleaning of my outdoor coils ($15 can of foam!) OVER $2000 AND IT STILL WOULD NOT HAVE FIXED MY PROBLEM! A simple brass cap that's less than $1 was the cause of my leak. This company either doesn't know what it's doing or assumes customers won't question the first expensive answer they hear. Over charged for services renered $1,235.00 to snake a toilet and remove the toilet and scoped the inside of the house founded now clogging. They said they couldn't put the toilet back it wasn't set right not so. I had to go purchase a new toilet and the installation was done the next day. Less than 3 weeks later I have a clogged toilet and a lid lift on my pvc pipe causing no use of toilet or shower. The estimate guy and I looked up the part and it's a $3200 part. Even if I accept a markup to $6000, they couldn't tell me where the extra $10,000 is going. I'll take a fair price, but you can't even justify the price you're giving me, then you are a scam. On top of that, they started to berate my wife when she called about the estimate. We have been using Hoover for several years now. They are always reliable and dependable, with reasonable prices (we do their annual program), and the people they send out are always top tier. Last night I clogged my disposal, called them first thing today, and they had a very good plumber named Jack come out this afternoon. It was a very bad clog, thought we may need to replace the whole unit, but he worked tirelessly to fix it for us. We were very impressed. First let me start by saying Hoover put in a new furnace for me in October. With the price of the furnace I received plumbing inspection, my ducts cleaned and an electrical inspection. Starting with plumbing they found numerous things wrong but, for a little over $6 grand they could fix everything. Yeah, I don't think so. So next is the electrical inspection and of course they found a lot of things wrong so for $ 7 grand they could fix it starting with my breaker box that was totally rusted out on the right side. So after the guy was here for the longest time he was pressuring me to set up an appointment ( I didn't) so what I did do was have a electrician come to my house and guess what my breaker box was not rusted out and other things that Hoover mentioned there was nothing wrong. i think they like to scare people so they can get you to have them fix all the problems. Hoover will not step one foot in my house. And shame on that company. They should be shut down. read more

I am stunned at the bad experience with this company! I had worked with Hoover for plumbing and had a good experience. They talked me into "coverage". They came out to inspect my HVAC prior to the start of the air conditioning season. The technician spent all of his time evaluating the furnace and immediately indicated there was a crack in the Heat Exchanger and told me it needed to be replaced. Tried to show me the "crack" but it was difficult to see. When the tech came back with the sales guy the next day-he kind of back walked the fact that there was actually a crack. All they wanted to focus on was replacing the whole HVAC system and slamming the brand currently had and the company I had servicing this system. My BS detector was going off at this point. I had another reputable HVAC evaluate the unit and was told it did not have a crack in it and did not need to be replaced. All Hoover wanted to do was upsell and focus on selling me a newer side exhaust A/C unit. The inspection was 100% an opportunity to generate a sale only. Even after I very clearly indicated I did not want to replace right now. Think twice before engaging these folks. read more

We hired Hoover to replace our central air conditioner this summer. They did a great job! The unit is very efficient and quiet.

We had another service in to remove a wall fan in our kitchen the day before. Unfortunately, the other service did not send an electrician, and they left live wires in the wall and an electrical receptacle without power. We discovered the powerless receptacle after the prior service provider left. Since we weren't impressed with the initial service provider, we reached out to Hoover Electric for assistance. They sent Shane to help that very day. The office staff called back at around 8am, and by 2pm Shane arrived to take a look at our problem. The first thing he did was provided a free home electrical inspection. That was a bonus! Next, he fished the wires out of the hole in our wall. I'm so glad we called them, because the caps the prior service provider placed over the live wires actually came off in the walls! He fished the caps out, and then the wires came out! Anyway, he confirmed the wiring was live, and being an experienced electrician, he immediately knew what the problem was! He figured out that the old wiring in our home ran from an electrical outlet under our kitchen window, directly to the fan. Years later, the homeowners wanted another outlet. They ended up running a line from the fan, down to the outlet that stopped working! I never would have guessed that. Well, our house is old, and did not have sufficient space to place a normal junction box or outlet. However, Shane was able to figure out a way to put in a GFCI circuit. Now we have an electrical outlet where the fan used to be, and both outlets work. Perhaps it is not ideal having an electrical receptacle so close to the ceiling, but it works for us. He even told me how we can finish fixing up the hole in our wall from the fan. That will be our weekend project! We'll be calling this company back for other home projects! read more

He proceeded to tell us our repair might not fix the problem but he would add sealant and recharge the system for $1836. This will include a check next spring but if there was additional leakage he would have to search for parts. We declined the repair and paid for the in door fee and the diagnostic fee of $238. I too had Cody show up on the $89.00 drain inspection special, 45 minutes later he worked up an estimate for nearly $1000.00 to vent my kitchen sinks because that was the problem, not the drain. He didn't even look inside the plumbing. Thankfully he wasn't able to do it that day and we rescheduled for the next business day, giving me an opportunity to think the problem through. The next day I dug out my 20 year old spring drain snake and disconnected the trap, hand snaked out about 10 feet of the drain, reassembled everything and PRESTO! It was like new again! Yesterday, I filled out a webform to have Hoover come out to run a wire today. I initiated a webchat with Hoover through their website asking them to give me an estimate before they would come out the next day. They said they'd e-mail an estimate. That never happened. They came out without e-mailing the estimate first, said it would cost over $800 to run the wire a few feet in the attic. Obviously, that's about 8 times too much for such a simple issue. I called Hoover electric this morning because my brother had lost all power to his entire house last night. He had a friend come over to install a dishwasher and somehow all of the power blew- even to the main circuit board. Hoover electric came out right away when I explained to them that my niece was on a ventilator and had to be moved out of the house because she had to have electricity so she could plug in. He did not provide us with a receipt of the work (forced to pay for the $240+ even though the work was not agreed upon). We later called another place to get another opinion and paid over 3x less.
