    Hops Kitchen Menu

Hops Kitchen currently has 4 locations: Pro Re Nata Brewery in Crozet, Basic City Brewery in Waynesboro, Skipping Rock Beer Co. in Staunton, and Blue Toad Cider House in Waynesboro. This review is for the Crozet location at Pro Re Nata. I had the Western burger with house-made chips while my husband enjoyed a BYO burger with cheddar, caramelized onions, and bacon. We both enjoyed our burgers, but my chips were too salty and my husband's fries were over seasoned as well. This is odd coming from someone who is heavy-handed with salt while cooking. While the burgers were good, $13 is pricey for a burger and chips. The staff was friendly and didn't hesitate to share their recommendations.

One of the reasons we live to come to Pro Re Nata brewery, is this food truck. Is delicious every time. They always have different specials. The food is so good and goes so well with the beer. We always have to get food when we go to the brewery.

The pizza sucks compared to what it used to be, and your prices are way too high for what we are getting.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

Grt them if you like ribs. My only regret and it was my own taste buds the bbq sauce needed some heat. My wife had chicken with artichoke hearts and sauce. She said it was tasty and the sauce sublime. Overall, a must dine at historic restaurant in Staunton.

My friend and I stopped by this past Saturday morning to grab coffee for ourselves and our other friends. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but dang, Mudhouse is expensive. It shocked me to see DC pricing, if not more pricy. I was feeling a pour-over this morning, so I asked the baristas what they recommended since I was looking for their wildest offering. If I remembered correctly, they suggested one of their current single origins, Costa Rica - Finca Las Torres Honey Process (tasting notes: candied plum, red apple, honeycomb). The pour-over was $8, which is crazy. I should have just bought a bag of beans (which is 3x more expensive), and I would have been able to make 20 cups for myself. The pour-over was good though, bright and fruity, and I enjoyed drinking it even without a pastry. I picked up a different pour-over (also a single origin and was $8) and matcha ($7.75 for a small) for a couple friends. They both enjoyed their drinks (the matcha was very green and tasted legitimate) but thought it was more expensive than it should be. Overall, still a solid coffee roaster in the area with a homey and spacious interior -- just a bit too expensive for coffee and tea.

Snow may have covered the ground, but between the stunning aesthetic, incredible wine, and delicious food, I am officially SOLD. This spot has earned a place in my top 5 wineries! From the moment we arrived, the hostess and waitstaff were attentive, welcoming, and full of recommendations. I went with a wine flight (because variety is a must!), and every pour was a hit. As for the food? We indulged in pasta, sliders, short-rib grilled cheese, truffle fries, and a charcuterie board everything was absolutely mouthwatering. We ate, we sipped, and we were very merry! I'm already counting down to a summer return so I can soak in those breathtaking mountain views from the patio.

The inside was spacious and comfortable. Loved the shiplap, the wood floors, the purse hooks on the bar, the patio with the stone and tile floor, the exposed beams, and the welcoming front entryway! We not only did the tasting, where one wine was better than the next; But the food was incredible as was the impeccable service! We did the red flight of wines, and I also had some rosé. We particularly favored the cannon red and the Cabernet franc. Our food was excellent; a the dishes they were served upon were lovely! My hubby got the roasted Brussels sprouts, my daughter chose the tomato basil soup, and we all shared a well designed charcuterie board! We left nary a morsel behind! The manager was so kind and generous, asking us to return and sharing the best times to come! He gave us some background information on the area and gave us a mini tour! This vineyard and farm is well worth visiting, making it a memorable destination!!
