I've been back several times to this location after my bad experience. And I'll chalk it up to a bad experience years ago. Great service today and the food has been consistant for a while. The service was friendly and attentive and the food quality was very good and hot (not cold fries!), but.... It's a Catch 22 situation. Vegetarians don't find many options on restaurants' menus, so they don't go to these restaurants. The same restaurants experience a low (expressed) demand for vegetarian offerings, so they assume there aren't enough vegetarian patrons. The number of vegetarians and vegans is increasing. In my immediate family we have four adults that don't eat meat, but would still like to go to a casual dining place and not be faced with dry veggie burgers (Beyond or Impossible options are better tasting), veggie pizzas, or fish and chips (for pescatarians). Breakfast, lunch and dinner options are extremely limited. I think in a perfect world, all meals would come as a tasty vegetarian offering, and the protein that goes with it would be extra. There can be a lot of tasty pizza variations that can be "upgraded" to a meat(ier) version, but which give vegetarians the option of getting a Hawaiian pizza without the Canadian bacon or ham and without the impression you have to pay full price to have something left off! There are also so many faux meat options on the market, that could be offered as a meat substitute without an additional upcharge to replace the standard hamburger, chicken, or beef that is already on the dish. I often make different versions of ratatouille as a main or side dish with eggs (for breakfast) or on noodles or zucchini noodles or mashed potatoes. A ratatouille pizza would also be a variation on the same basic theme. Easy to prepare, a flexible variation to other dishes, and no meat. Or it can be combined with faux chicken slices or cubes that are even available in normal supermarkets. Making salads without meat (again, with a reduced charge for the lack of meat), or with faux meat substitutes would be a welcome addition. I realize that adding this option would complicate the ordering process and preparation in the kitchen, but if it increases sales and customer returns, it would be worth it. But it wouldn't be as rewarding for the restaurant (but would still be welcome by vegetarian and vegan customers), if it weren't advertised and prominently displayed on the menus! I'd love a ratatouille pizza and Mac n Jacks beer! Or vegetarian nachos and a cold beer. Veggie nachos can be made with a hamburger crumble substitute! Not one restaurant chain has made catering to (beer and wine drinking) vegetarian customers a priority. Hops n Drops has a great casual atmosphere, but has nothing but your veggie burger and fish and chips. Why not reconsider your stance and as a matter of principle expand your offering to a neglected customer segment? read more

Go here for good burgers and drinks. Beware of the happy hour menu. It is NOT a good deal at all on the food. They reduce the size and I feel you are really over paying for what you get. Happy hour for drinks- yes, not food. Too expensive for the tiny portions. You are better off sticking to the regular menu and getting what you pay for. I dined in recently and the Mac n Cheese tasted like the pan they serve it in and the tots were so hard that they couldn't be stabbed with a fork. My husband and I decided to check out Hops n Drops for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. We honestly hadn't expected much since the reviews were so so but thought we would see for ourselves and glad we did! Our waitress was great and constantly checking up on us! We started with onion rings from the happy hour menu which were delivered piping hot, crunchy and flavorful with yummy sauces for dipping. I chose the french dip sandwich with house made potato chips. Chips were super yummy & crunchy, sandwich was good but needed a little salt n pepper added to enhance the flavors of the meat and au jus. Meat was juicy and tender. My husband chose the buttermilk chicken tenders and fries. Chicken was hot, juicy, breading was crunchy and flavorful and fries were delicious (the battered kind). We are not big drinkers but there is a huge selection on tap plus cocktails too! We did think it was a bit pricey but will definitely be back! read more

We love our local Hops n Drops! We always have the best service. Tonight we were greeted by Samantha, who is always so sweet and welcoming. She quickly cleared a table for us so we could sit in the bar. Our server was Dez and she gave us excellent service. Always kept our drinks filled, and made sure we were well taken care of. We stopped here for breakfast so this review only pertains to breakfast and their bar service. We were in for a Hawks game, had some drinks and food. Their drinks were great! First place I've found where they have actual fruit purée and bring you the bottle of champagne to Mia their self. I'm a big control freak so this was nice. This Made for a fantastic mimosa and for only $9! We got their country fried steak meal that came with hash browns, eggs and bread. Either they need smaller plates or they had plated it wrong. When it came out it look like a really small portion. For $14 it should be a little bigger. This could be because were use to another local restaurant that serve CFC and it's HUGE! The CFC was about 6inches by 4inches, so not that big. Liked like a 6 oz steak. Other than that the food was great and service was fantastic. We finished our visit and the game with their local IPA which we actually preferred over a more well known option. Plan to make a return visit soon. read more

Brought the family here today. Just wanted to take the kids out to eat real quick while we wrapped up shopping. The place was pretty busy and they may have been understaffed for the holiday. The wait wasn't too bad though, just about 10 minutes. Our server was prompt and checked back the right amount of times, keeping beverages full but not getting in the way. The food was good, although the fries were way over salted. This place reminds me of what Red Robin was 25 years ago. Good food, no surprises, quick and easy. Will you find a favorite dish that you crave and brings you back? Likely not, but definitely a step above other casual restaurants in the area. read more

Honestly, I could probably go 4 stars on this but I think my enthusiasm is due to the fact that I am a beer nerd, and a bit of a local to the area. So to try to be as objective as possible, I will keep it at three. This place was founded by a former Red Robin executive and has a bit of the feel of that chain. It's bright, clean, well-organized, and efficient, but it looks a little bit like it came out of a kit. That's not a detractor, necessarily, but you're on a busy highway, you pull up to a strip mall, you wander in, you get...pretty much a nice place in a strip mall by a busy highway. Tons of high windows all around, just like all the businesses in the strip mall. Combined with the high ceilings, though, it creates a bright and airy effect, and I feel kinda guilty for dinging the place for being in a strip mall. It's probably the best chance they have in the area for visibility, sturdy construction, reasonable landlord. So kudos to them. And more about the decor, while we're on that topic--there are tons of black and white photos framed on the wall. I assumed they were Darius Kinsey historical logging photos, at a glance. My buddy John, who suggested the place, corrected me: they're actually photos of hop harvesting, growing, and processing. All taken in the Puyallup Valley, which, evidently, used to be quite the hop garden to the nation. I grew up within a ten minute drive of the Valley and never knew this. I LOVE it when places like this teach me something about local history...and I was perfectly delighted to accept that the photos were more Kinseys. You see Kinseys all kinds of places but I never get tired of them. So these historic photos make the decor kind of a wash for me. So, given the name and the photos, you get the sense the place is highly curious about beer ingredients. They have some cool tap towers coated in ice--I am generally not one to insist on maximum frigidity for my ales, but it does benefit the lagers, and they're really cool-looking. The service is informed, quick, efficient, attentive. Young, cute, bubbly, fun. They don't leave you waiting at any juncture. They're solid. You could say they're just service, but, really, it's not as common as you might like, these people who keep an eye on you, know what they're doing, and stay out of the way when that's appropriate. So kudos to them for turning out a good front of the house staff. The food, well, it's just food. The salad is just a salad. The sandwich is just a sandwich. Tasty, palatable, nothing really wrong with it, but for the most part aimed at the widest possible audience. Still, if in the area, I'd happily go back. Would combine perfectly with an afternoon visit to Elkhead for some of their crazy brews--and they're just down the road. read more

Between three gals we ordered: a Juicy Lucy burger and tater tots (and they were so kind enough to split the plate in three), buffalo boneless wings (special soon-to-be-famous buffalo sauce), taquitos with a side of guacamole/sour cream and salsa, Big Tony's BBQ Mac n' Cheese, and onion rings. The first time I went to hop jacks I was a bit taken back. It was a small place with a moderate sized menu. When I say small place, I mean for family seating not at the bar. Probably about 10-15 tables total. Needless to say, that first visit was awesome. Staff was friendly and knew I was not a regular. Good sign. The server then just made a few recommendation for drink and food. I took the recommendation for beer and the queso. It was delish. I ordered the cream cheese jalapeño burger. WOW. If you go here. That's what you need to order. Nuff said. The customer service was spot on, the food was delish, and I found that I wanted to return to try other items from the menu. OMFG! Run do not walk to this place! Blueberry Lemonade! Woohoo....delish! I had the Chicken wrap and the homemade chips and was sorely impressed. The dip for the chips was amazing, kind of a garlic style and they put it in a plastic container so if you want to take it with you, they give you a lid! Hubby had the meatloaf burger and also the blueberry lemonade and also was happy, He usually does not drink anything but water with his meal. The atmosphere was a tad loud, but we like quiet. This is a very busy little place, not much in the way of seating so be prepared if you come during the lunch or dinner rush- you may be waiting for a seat. The salad I ordered was the caesar salad with shrimp, actually not bad, however I would suggest lighten up on the croutons. My cousin ordered the chicken wrap with chips and she said it was very good. All in all, not bad for a chain restaurant. I will say the idea of serving martini's in an ice "glass" is novel and memorable... great idea for the home bartender also! I would come back again if in the Bonney Lake area. read more
