While they don't have a kitchen, you're more than welcome to bring in food and there are many restaurants with takeout options within walking distance. Even better, they are dog friendly! This place has some character. A little craft beer joint with an L shaped bar in the back corner with some tables and chairs strewn around and some darts and a live band area in the front corner. We strolled in and noticed there were no seats at the bar which everyone was at so we settled on a little two top. Being our first time here it was fairly obvious that we were going to have to go to the bar to get service. It was a little annoying that 4seats at the bar were taken up by the bartenders laptop, coffee and whatever project he was working on. We went to the bar late in the evening having seen it is Flagstaff's #1 bar on Yelp. Maybe we had wrong expectations, maybe our taste is different than that of most people, but the bar made a rather bad impression: a small scruffy room with only a few patrons sitting by the bar on one end, and between it and the entrance an open space that left me feeling somewhat exposed. We didn't stay. I don't know how come this place is rated so highly. read more

The beer selection is great. The actual bar is cool. The place attracts a few too many hipster types to make it a regular stop when I go downtown. The last time we went, one of the owners was playing guitar, singing (slightly off-key), with his shirt mostly unbuttoned. I could do with out that... Totally small bar with more beer on tap than they can possibly serve and keep fresh. They had a Four Peaks tap takeover the night before and had a number of their beers on. It was small and crowded and the service was slow even when we stood at the bar. read more

In Flagstaff for the weekend and checking out a local tap house. It was a great surprise! 28 beers on tap and always changing. I ordered a beer that taste a little off. Our bartender, Kyle, was great about it, sampling the beer himself to figure out what was the issue. He gave me a new beer and was super accommodating. Another couple came in very naive about beer and Kyle was great getting them a sampling of beer, explaining the styles and tastes. Love seeing bud drinkers converted! Check this place out! read more

Granted, this place has a good beer selection for decent prices, but it's packed anytime after 5pm to the point where you'll have to wait to try any of these beers. Crowd used to be eclectic but now is very college...not quite as bad as Collins or Maloneys but it still feels like "Bros On Birch" 90% of the time. Check out Vino Loco next store for a more chill atmosphere with a pretty darn good bottle beer and of course wine selection. read more

Went to see a friend play , bar was dirty . Bartender made us get our drinks from the bar , really dude there is like 6 people here, and you cant walk ur ass from around the bar and bring me my drinks . Whatever I left a nice tip , but I will never go back . It really sucks because I'm all about supporting local. They should rethink the staff. read more

I am from North San Diego County. The Hop Highway is half a mile from my house and I can walk to 13 different microbreweries. Almost all of them are dog friendly. I am used to getting a beer with my mutt in tow on a Friday night and not having an issue. This weekend I am visiting Flagstaff and find Hops on Birch and decide to grab a brew with my dog. No problem, right? Well, I take him on a long walk, he does his business, we step inside and the beers are poured. Had 3 really good local brews and then I see a food truck outside. So, I have my dog on his leash and we step out to see the good offerings. A few minutes later some college kid from the microbrewery approaches me and said my dog took a dump inside and I need to clean it up. Now there are about 8 dogs inside at this point and I am not sure if it was even my dog. But, I am a responsible owner so I tie up my boy and go inside to take a look. Sure enough, there is a turd smeared across the floor. The kid points to a box of gloves and a spray bottle and tells me "There are your cleaning supplies." So I am 3 beers in, kneeled on all fours scrubbing shit off the floor that may or may not be from my dog, people are stepping over and around me to get in and out and to and from the bathroom. Really? You are dog friendly and this never happens? The dog friendly microbreweries where I come from have a cleaning crew with mops and you don't have to lift a finger, much less get on all fours in front of a crowd. I don't mind cleaning up after my dog, but please don't be rude and don't make a customer get on all fours. It is degrading and I will never be back. read more
