One part of the contract wasn't quite done, but a quick email from me had them out within a day to finish the job. I understand lawn service rates vary greatly, but based on this and my history with Moyers, they provide a good value. Recommend!

I contracted with Moyers a few days ago to have a Green Emerald Arborvitae installed in my front yard and also signed up for general yard clean-up, to include weeding and mulching and planting of ground cover. (I have a rather large backyard that consists of lawn, hardscaping, and a lengthy blue gravel driveway. The yard also features a 5' W x 50' L raised garden bed planted with various dwarf evergreens trees and deciduous plants. It is a lot of yard and I find it next to impossible to keep it looking neat and orderly.) The Moyers landscaping team, led by Danny, arrived on the exact day and time promised (no rescheduling on their end; what a blessing in this day and age). I watched the team working from my windows and could not believe how hardworking and efficient they were. The crew was absolutely dedicated to the work at hand and cut no corners. In short, they exceeded my every expectation. On Day 2, I was greeted at my door by Danny for the walk through of the completed work. I couldn't believe my eyes. I am not exaggerating when I say that my yard was transformed. I was so bowled over that I became emotional -- to the point of tears, and I do not cry easily. Needless to say, I will hire them again and have even signed on for their Platinum Lawn Maintenance Program. In my experience, Moyers is top notch -- but don't take my word for it. What's the most special part that we have seen with the crew that works here is the extra attention to details. I planted bulbs myself and a few other plants that Emerald did not put in over the years at my office. In essence, they could have just pulled out my plants as they don't match the existing shrubs and I'd have no right to complain. However, they did not. After carefully removing all of the mulch, the crew lovingly re-mulched around my bulbs and it could not look any more fantastic. Right now, someone is giving these spring bulbs even extra water and love. I am sure any other commercial landscaping company would have just ripped them out and mulched over it as fast as possible, to get to the next job. The gentlemen that show up here are very polite and professional too. They really go the extra mile and take pride in their work and it shows. Also, super fast snow removal too!

Emerald Landscaping completed gutter drainage work for our home in the Fall of 2025. At the time…read moreof completion, the work seemed to be completed up to specifications. Unfortunately, at the start of summer 2026 it was clear that the drains could not handle heavier summer rains. One of the drains had water gushing out of the cleanup valve (photo). The follow-up communication with Emerald was underwhelming. They declined to help me troubleshoot the issue unless I paid a $98 site visit fee. Instead, they proposed additional work to rectify the issue without acknowledging that the work was not completed correctly in the first place. Their "proposal" is comical- it looks like something my 5 year old would draw (photo). I've since redone the work myself with a drain that is properly sloped. I've also included photos of a leaky downspout they would not acknowledge along with an upgrade I did myself with $50 in parts from Home Depot.

Work…read moreincluded two wooden retaining walls and two rock-lined swales connected to an underground drainage pipe to manage rainwater run off on a steep hillside, as well as replacement of our main concrete-reinforced cinder block retaining wall. We initially contracted with Stone Garden for the rain management work in late spring. The work was fast - estimated at 1-2 weeks but done in 3 days! At one point they had 7 people on site. The working crew was very thoughtful - they helped us move daffodil bulbs disturbed by the construction, carefully cleaned up after the work, and even helped my husband move some bags of yard waste unrelated to their work. A torrential storm followed this first project, leading to the failure of our (pre-existing) main retaining wall. We turned to Stone Garden to replace it, upgrading with some additional drainage features and a brick facade. It was difficult to get the follow on work scheduled due to communication delays and a busy calendar of other projects. After two months the follow on work started. While the retaining wall was built fairly quickly it took another month for the masons to come finish the brick facade. I had other outdoor work scheduled and luckily we were able to deconflict it. Overall, the work is high quality, reasonably priced, and is holding up well. Sam and his team are skilled and professional. Just get scheduled early, the Stone Garden team is in high demand!

I hired Stone Garden to perform several tasks based on the recommendation of someone I know. I…read moresincerely regret hiring them and do not recommend them. Each task they were hired to perform had issues. For example, I asked them to trim back bushes. They trimmed them back so much that my neighbor called me, concerned that now we had zero foliage providing privacy between our yards. Despite my instructions, Stone Garden trimmed back essentially to the stump and I was left with twigs in the ground and had to wait for months before they started regrowing. I also asked them to build stairs off of my deck and to replace a gate door. The stairs they constructed were not level and the gate door was not flush so it did not latch properly. I had to contact them to repair these issues but the stairs are still not much better. The last straw was that I hired them to acquire a permit for additional work. The permit drawings they prepared were not at all what we discussed. Rather, they showed extensive changes that I did not request. Upon expressing my concern about the inaccuracies with the drawings, I was told they were trying to show me "what was possible." I didn't ask for that so it wasted weeks of my time as I waited for new drawings. The new drawings were also problematic and proposed removing and relocating a full-grown tree -- again, not something I requested so we had to again discuss revising the drawings. The third version of the drawings were still not what I envisioned but I was told as long as it was close enough, we could submit the permit application. They submitted the permit application in September. As expected, the city had questions and comments. Stone Garden did not reply to these comments. They also did not reply to my emails or phone calls. Months passed. Finally, I heard from the owner in February. I was given a lot of excuses and apologies -- but no actual progress on my permit application or description of next steps or milestones. More time elapsed with no action or updates from Stone Garden. I finally reached out to the city myself and learned that my permit application had been terminated due to lack of activity. Stone Garden never informed me of this status. The city also provided me the comments that has been sent to Stone Garden which made it very apparent that Stone Garden is not equipped to manuever the permitting process. I've since spoken to several other contractors and they noted it was very apparent that Stone Garden does not understand the city permitting requirements based on the application they submitted and the questions they received from the city. I have since contacted the owner and requested a partial refund, along with all correspondence with the city and documentation submitted for my permit application since this is my intellectual property. I received no response at all and no partial refund. If you want quality work and good communication, look elsewhere. I do NOT recommend.

Saving money in the short run for a crappy job, you'll end up paying a lot more in the long run when you have someone else fix all of the mistakes. I've made that error before and paid dearly. It's the equivalent of buying cheap pants you have to replace every year, vs paying a bit more for quality pants that last a decade. Ok, sermon over. Did more awesome work! Lots of mulching and weeding. These are both jobs that are easy to do half-assed. Pull a few weeds and throw some mulch over them. Less thorough landscapers also use just a thin layer of mulch instead of a thicker layer like you are supposed to. Melvin Reyes and his crew did as good of a job as could be done. I was home and looked out every once in a while to see them painstakingly weeding and using a good thick layer of mulch throughout. Front and backyard are transformed, A plus!

Service: snow removal after snow and ice, early 2026. Pros: prompt and courteous. Cons: Price! They…read moreasked for $1200 to clear less 40 feet of sidewalks, stoop, plus a two car-long driveway. We settled on them clearing a single 80-90 foot path from street, up three steps to door for $350. They didn't clear the sidewalk, just scraped a path through the lawn, removing some of the grass. We were desperate and feel overcharged. NOTE: Photos taken after someone else cleared most the driveway--for 88% less!
