The atmosphere of this restaurant is quite an experience. The outdoor seating provides a tropical and vibrant atmosphere, temporarily concealing the bustling nature of the city. As you enter the building, every room becomes slightly dimmer, gradually transforming the place from tropical paradise to dive bar scenery. The food, though, was pretty mediocre. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Fries and just by the looks of it, it already doesn't seem too spectacular. The taste of both were above decent, BUT the price point was a little bit too high for me. The portion size definitely on the smaller side. I did appreciate that these dishes were freshly made - the burger and its juices were steaming hot! They have excellent customer service. We came in during a Trivia Night and it was free to join. The game was very casual, yet entertaining to see the competitive groups. Not sure what the prize was, but it definitely added to the dining experience. I stopped by with my coworker to grab some happy hour before meeting with the others. She lives in the marina and I found this place on Yelp. I was mainly looking for a happy hour menu with lots of choices. When we stopped by around 5pm on a Thursday, it was very open. There were plenty of seats in the patio and indoors as well. They have QR codes on the table and you order via your phone and they bring it out to you afterwards. It's open seating so wherever you wanted to sit, you just find a table and do so. I ordered the guava mojito with casamigos blanco ($8 base, $3 for the choice of alcohol), spiced fries ($4) and sesame chicken wings ($14) to share. My friend ordered the mother clucker sandwich ($13) and Palm house slushy with mango ($10+ additional for the mango). The guava mojito was freshing and was very easy to drink. The alcohol was in there but the guava made it so refreshing that you almost couldn't tell. The spiced fries were good, I wouldn't say they were super special but just a classic. The wings, let me tell you was to die for!! The wings had the gochujang glaze with sesame and green onion. It came with a side of pickled cucumbers and a coconut ranch dipping sauce. The flavors of the glaze was on point, and it wasn't too sticky but you definitely want to make sure you don't let the glaze go to waste. The coconut ranch had some essences of dill in it from what it seemed. It provided a calming sauce to highlight the gochujang flavor. The pickled cucumbers helps cleanse the palette between bites. My coworker said she really enjoyed her drink and food. The drink was strong according to her and the chicken sandwich was deliciously crispy and flavorful! FYI, they automatically apply a 5.5% surge charge on your bill. So be mindful of that before you tip. They also automatically elect the 20% tip when you are about to pay. You can alter your tip at the end when you pay on your phone as well. My friend wanted to try this place. I had the mother clucker chicken sandwich, coconut popcorn shrimp, and the prickly pear mimosa. We shared the naughty fries appetizer. Been to Palm House a few times for a quick drink with friends! Drinks are typically good and the atmosphere is fun depending on the day and time. The last time I came here was okay.. they were really busy inside where the bar is in the middle of the day on a weekend so it makes sense that this might've not been a 10/10 experience. I really like the smash burgers here and decided to get a drink to go with my food - our food came out and I still hadn't received my drink which was kind of odd. The server let me know they didn't have some of the ingredients for my drink and that they could get me another drink. Decided to try out Palm House for brunch after a day of reorganizing. The staff is very friendly and timely. Constantly check-in on you, and refill anything you need such as water. The ordering is super easy, scan the QR code at your table, add items to your tab, place and pay. Done. There is seating inside and outside. Heaters outside in the patio so it doesn't feel cold to be outside. Total time that we waited for our food was probably like 10-15mins MAX. We got some drinks as well which were refreshing and delicious. I got the POG mimosa and my friend got the prickly pear mimosa. Upon arrival, it doesn't take long to pick up on the Hawaiian-esque theme; the decor faces no shortage of palm tree motifs and colorful furnishing. The layout straddles the line of being too tacky and a pseudo-getaway. While Palm House's ambiance may temporarily transport you to the tropics, the food brings you right back to brisk San Francisco whom Karl the Fog routinely lends visits to. I ordered an aperol spritz and luau bowl. The spritz was classic and refreshing. The bowl left something to be desired though. For starters, the prices are high (which I'm fine with considering its prime location), but the portions are plainly disappointing. This same neighborhood also boasts price-comparable brunch establishments whose dishes have profoundly heftier portions. The rice was undercooked and brittle, the pineapple a nominal amount, and the tuna mushy despite appearing to be discernible chunks. And, as expected, the ingredients' shared mediocrity left the dish as a cohesive whole just unimpressive. Unfortunately, the service was not the saving grace. Our waitress only visited our table twice, once to take our orders and another to serve them. As such, we had one bottle of water to share with the table and strictly one as no one had refilled it. We had some friends visiting from out of town, and we were looking for happy hour spot that was dog friendly, and palm house fit the bill after checking out their HH menu. They run HH Monday-Friday from 4-6PM. The best deal is their famous punch bowls, normally close to $70, it's 50% off during happy hour. While they lean to the sweet side, it's big enough to share with 2-3 people. The HH food was good but a little bit salty, especially their tuna poke taquitos. Good but too salty. They've got a bunch of food items though on their HH menu for under $9. Back to the dog friendly portion, I've never seen a restaurant that welcomes our pups.
