My boyfriend and I went up Sunday, April 22nd to celebrate my birthday and stay overnight! We got to the hotel and checked in. When we got to our room, it was very apparent that people in the room next to us left their children in the room for the night. Apparently leaving kids in a hotel room while they gamble is something that happens?!?! It's really weird to me. Anyways, screaming kids and my birthday night with my sweetie definitely didn't mix, so I immediately phoned the desk. The manager personally came upstairs, and brought us to a new room on a completely different floor. I really feel they handled the situation very well, and were very accommodating. I have a feeling this kind of thing happens often. We hung out in the jacuzzi for most of the night, which was amazing! We also gambled a bit in the morning, but I didn't win anything. The casino is a great place to go for a quick over night stay. It was the first time my boyfriend and I went up to blackhawk. So, he booked us a suite here. Their suites come with a jacuzzi either in the bathroom or in the room. I think it is a lot more convenient to go with the one in the room because you and sit and watch tv while you sit in a bubbly bath. The staff is prety helpful too. They tell you about a couple deals that go on. For instance, when you sign up for a players card, and give them an email address you can play for 30 minutes and get a free buffet. Also, they give you $5 to play with. While you play, go to the bar and grab a complimentary drink! I never knew they did that for you in a casino. But its another tip when you come here for the first time. The drive is a little bit of a long one, but if you're willing to go then this is a good place to stay for a night. read more

The newly remodeled rooms are amazing, ask for a king on the outside, you then get a bigger room, with a balcony and a better view! The buffet is hit or miss, and took a long time to get seated. It seemed many employees need more training on the micros, and room charges! Dash was the only place open when we arrived so we ate there , the food is not to bad, not many healthy options though! We drove here from Colorado Springs with the family, the views while driving were fabulous. The entire hotel is getting remodeled, it's only gonna be better. We were going to stay at the Ameristar, however the two people that we spoke to on the phone were horribly rude and had absolutely no customer service skills! read more

Ok...so I left this place up $750...that was a good thing. I got my Vegas itch out of the way for a little bit....that was a good thing. It is only 30 minutes from home...that remains to be seen if that's a good thing. Now for the chicken shit part. The table maximum was $100 on 3-card poker. I had $50 on the pair plus, and $50 on the ante. I got a flush so I put $50 on the play line. Cards are turned and I beat the dealer with my flush. Dealer calls the pit boss on my flush to verify and the pit boss tells me that I have too much money on the table. I ask how that is, when the max is $100. Pit boss tells me that the max is $100. That means I can only do $50 on the Pair Plus and $25 on the other to for a total of $100. Really? If I had lost, do you think I would have gotten my money back for too big of a bet?? No chance. So I raise a litte stink. I ask the pit boss what the table minimum is. She said that it was $5. I asked her, does that mean I can put $3 on the pair plus and $1 on the other two?....She paused and said, "ummmm...let me go ask." A couple minutes later she comes back and tells me my bet is ok. But then tells me that the max means you can only bet $50 on the Pair Plus and $100 on the Ante and Play. Lady Luck, be clear on your rules. If the Pair Plus max is one thing and and the Ante and Play are another, then post that somewhere. Secondly, to the player, don't be intimidated if they try to run one by you. There is a gaming commision that all casinos in Black Hawk report to. Food choices are really limited too...but there's free cocktails for players, unlike California Casinos. read more

Nice place, but not the nicest in Black Hawk. The front desk staff are surprisingly efficient and were very courteous. I can't say more for the friendly staff. On my last stay here, I'd been given a room with double queen beds, which I didn't really need. The guy next to me had a family with him and they got some room with a king bed and a spa. They'd sold out rooms with queens apparently, and we switched rooms with him right there at the desk. It was great, we didn't have to pay more, and the other guy got what he wanted. I've rarely played on their tables, as its just not my place. There's no reason why I haven't. Everything there seems in tip top shape. I think the other casinos just offer other little extras that get my business instead. read more

All casinos are created equal. It attracts a lot of the same sorts of people I've seen at most casinos, those looking to "get lucky." People watching here was priceless. Parking was beyond insane on 7.7.7 but then again, would there be any doubt about that? Kudos to the gelato lady who filled my cup with enough to feed two people. We were sent here after trying to get a room at Lady Luck-their elevators were broken and they couldn't get people up to the rooms. The front desk was so helpful and even comped our room!! The room was gorgeous, seemed newly remodeled, very clean, spacious, and even has a big jacuzzi tub! Since we had a comped room we decided to spend a lot of time in the casino. My first experience in Black Hawk. The casino floor was much smaller than I anticipated, but there where still lots of open seats in both the table games and the slots. I couldnt drink (the horror!) but the cocktail waitress never stopped asking, a plus in my opinion. They have self serve drink stations with nonalcoholic drinks. This is the first nonsmoking casino ive been in, which was a pleasant surprise. Parking was plentiful in a garage under the hotel. The buffet was alright, nothing to right home about. It was on par with the Isle in Lake Charles, LA. My only gripe would be some of the machines seemed to be in jacked up. Broken buttons, lights and sounds that didnt work, and I had a Double Double Bonus Video Poker machine lock up on Four of a Kind worth a few hundred dollars....Luckily it resumed a few minutes later., had it not this review wouldnt be as cheery, as we all know "Malfunction voids all pays". read more

I had a great experience at this place. I think for the price they ask it's unbeatable (hotel wise). I went on a weekend where they had a surf and turf buffet, it wasnt unbelivibly great but for 20$ you can't beat it. I happened to do well at the casino so I can't complain too much but there were two things. 1. The pillows are hard as hell. Otherwise the room was well worth it. 2. The security guards are low key rude. I was forced to sign a waiver because I am under age 25 (I'm 24) because "statistically if people cause trouble in a casino they're always under 25" To be honest the two minor things didn't ruin my trip. We went and stayed here for my friends birthday after finding a deal. When we arrived it was easy to check in and the guy doing so was nice enough to give us free passes for 4 to the dinner buffet. All night long we just gambled. They do however need more $5 blackjack table they only had one open and there was a group of people hanging around just waiting for a chair to open up. I played the slots a little and had fun. It was easy to get a cocktail waitress to get you a drink unlike some other casinos. The hotel room was clean and fresh. it came with a jacuzzi tub enough said. The beds were really soft and the pillows were down feather which was really nice since that it was I love. The room we had had a little balcony with a view of the mountains. The buffet was better then I expected a little pricey for what it was if you didn't have free passes. For not going to Vegas this was a great second option for staying in Colorado. *Note just an odd observation made was that in the hallways going to the rooms the wallpaper and carpeting was like something out of Fear and Loathing - so be careful. read more

I'm not a gambler, I'm more of the sit at the bar and play the machine right there while listening to music. I did not try the table game, but I will admit Roulette looks fun. May try that next time. We came up for our anniversary. On a tight budget this seemed like a fun place and not as pricey as the previous stay at the Ameristar (see other review). Our room did have a cheesy feel. I know it's the Isle of Capri, it's supposed to have a tropical feel, but honestly it just felt generic. But that was my only complaint. For an inexpensive retreat I would stay here again. This is only a review for the hotel. The casino and restaurants are great, in my opinion. But the hotel, not so much. We reserved a room for our anniversary 2 nights before arriving. We get here to check in excited to start our vacation. Firstly, the lady at the front desk (small, short dark hair, glasses I think) was not very pleasant. She was obviously stressed and practically yelled at who I thought was the manager to "just find a room." Apparently we didn't have one because the hotel was fully booked, but we reserved it already? It cost almost $60 more than I was expected from what we booked online. The desk lady shooed us away so she could "tell the next person in line the same thing." That we would have to wait for them to find a room even though, again, we booked one. Finally we get a room in a different hotel than expected. We reserved the Isle Casino hotel and got the Lady Luck which I purposefully avoided due to the reviews. We get to the room and the smell of paint is so strong I have the worst headache. Out bathtub is disgusting. We were told loud construction starts in the morning. I have worked in customer service and even hotels for almost 7 years and this is ridiculous. Spend the extra few dollars and get the better hotel and definitely dont come here for a special occasion. Also, the tub doesnt drain and all the nasty stuff in it is floating around. We stopped by Black Hawk on our way to the Denver Airport from Breckenridge. Black Hawk and the neighboring towns are definitely an interesting place. Towns made up almost entirely of casinos in the middle of the mountains! Isle of Capri is one of the larger casinos in Black Hawk and it looked pretty new. I was pleasantly surprised that all the casinos in the area are non-smoking! Vegas - you can learn a lesson here. I don't think remember any of the tables being open during the middle of the day on Friday. I played slots for about an hour and while I didn't win, I only lost $10. If no stars were an option that is the one I would choose. We were recently in Black Hawk for Valentines Day and chose to stay at the Isle. Big Mistake. The hotel was under renovations which they never told us about on the website or in person when I called to ask questions about the Suite. What this means is that from 10am - 5pm there is construction noise and for 2 hours a day there is no water access in the rooms. Lovely. The suite was a disaster. Stains on the carpet, the bathroom tile was missing, the shower was covered in mold and mildew and the toilet tank leaked all over the bathroom floor. The casino itself was not bad except that half of it was shut down for construction so that limited our gambling experience. All in all - we survived by making sure to spend all of our gambling and food money elsewhere in Black Hawk. It was only for 1` night but a better option would have been a Motel 6 on East Colfax. Won't go back to the Isle again. I would recommend the Ameristar or the Lodge. Better service, nicer rooms, better food, better experience all around. read more

GO TO AMERISTAR IF YOU ARE IN BLACKHAWK! Stay away from the isle. First of all my emailed receipt didn't account for the $50 deposit. If there is a deposit, it should be on the receipt so i know what the actual total is. The guy at the front desk I think his name was Gill(he walked with a limp) he was EXTREMELY rude I almost left right then because he acted like he was doing me a favor by doing his job. Very difficult person with no manners. So I already have a bad taste in my mouth from check in. Once we get to our room #506, the door was broken, you had to put your whole body weight into it to get it open. The cleaning people give you the death stare when you try to walk by with your luggage and they don't move out of the way. So that was a struggle. The remodel was disappointing. And the room didn't look like it had been cleaned after construction. A lot of dust, wood shavings, excess glue/calk/grout everywhere. It smelled nasty like dirty clothes and they don't give you a blanket, just sheets. When we went to our room the second time neither of our key cards worked. We had to go back to the desk and were completely ignored by Gill this time, he waited until the other person was helping us to call the person behind us so he wouldn't have to help us. It was a quick fix but still no manners from the employees. No one was professional, everyone acted like they were miserable. All in all the people that work here make me never want to come back and the rooms are cheaply renovated but WAY overpriced. I would choose to stay at a motel 6 before booking here again. Wish I could get my money back because this was not what was advertised. I came here a year ago and had a very pleasant experience and it was so much cheaper. Made a reservation online and paid for my room, when I arrived at the hotel I went to the front desk to check in and I was treated poorly but the front desk person ( she was wearing a green shirt ) she seemed to be more interested in the conversation she was having with a fellow Co- Worker. When we were helped the young girl ( Layla ) looked us up and immediately looked for a manager, when she couldn't find the manager she asked her co worker ( old man ) he told us that they didn't have any rooms available and that they cancelled my reservation, when my husband asked to speak to a manager this person refused to call his manager because the manager was just going to tell us what he just told us and then this old man proceeded to yell at my husband... Layla went to look for a manager and then a supervisor came to "handle the situation". We were not respected or treated like human beings... now I don't have my money or a place to stay which leaves me in a very difficult position to either sleep in my car with my disabled mother in law and husband or drive 3 hours back home. I strongly believe the the staff was very racist because there was an Asian couple with their son there and they were treated bad as well. The only people I saw that they treated good were some Caucasian family. For that Caucasian family everyone went out of their way and the staff apologized profusely to them for the wait. This is honestly the worst hotel experience I have ever had, as far as getting a room. The casino has treated us nice, so we will gamble here sometimes. Our first visit was using a free night and free dinner that was sent to us to visit you and gamble. It was a Sunday night, my wife and I were coming up for the evening. When we arrived, the valet was way backed up and we had to wait about 20 minutes; not busy just no staff. When we finally got a ticket, ourselves at the desk, we then waited in line for the room. It was about 5;30 at this point. When we finally got to the desk, we were informed that the rooms were backed up and wouldn't be ready for at least another hour or two. Really, at 5:30 pm? We were promised our room by 3 pm on our invite? We did, at this point, decide to leave and not spend the night. I called the following day to explain our disappointment, but really didn't seem like they cared? Very poor customer service for the hotel. Their excuse is that,I did not play enough per visit, so they cut me off. They never tell you how much you need to play to keep your status. They track you every day. "Scary". Because last week, my husband and I stayed up there for his birthday hoping to have a good time; however, when we woke up in the morning we found we had been sleeping on sheets that had someone else's old, re-washed and reused blood stained sheets. Yes, you read that correctly. Blood stained sheets. I was disgusted and concerned so when we went to check out we asked to speak to the hotel manager and we politely told him what had happened. The hotel manager, Jeoffry, lacked any empathy and offered us two free breakfast buffets... We were almost as offended by being offered breakfast buffets as we were sleeping on those awful sheets. We went up to the casino, feeling like our concern hadn't been met, and talked to the casino manager, Bob. I will give Bob the one star that I am required to leave because he seemed at least understood the health aspect of the sheets; however, he too offered us a free room and sent us on our way. We didn't want anything, except maybe a health screen, from these people and everything they offered us we already receive on our player's card. All we wanted was some empathy and a sense that they were going to rectify their cleanliness for future visits; none of that was accomplished. I will start with we are gold members at the Isle and Lady Luck and go there fairly frequently so the three star review is for over all (we've been about a dozen times the past year, but our most recent visit, last night, was a one star visit) My husband and I had a $50 coupon to Faraday's and decided to give that a try. He ordered his steak medium it came out nearly well done; it had already taken over 30 minutes to receive it so here was no way we were sending it back. I ordered the salmon, also over cooked. The risotto was spot on and very delicious! Service was friendly, but extremely slow. We felt as though because we were a younger-looking two top, the server did not want to give us the time of day. We will always tip 20% but big loss on our server's part because we generally too much more. With all that said, both my husband and I work in fine dining restaurants and that experience was not, in any way, what it should have been. The bill totaled $100 and I would have been extremely upset to pay that amount, let alone what we actually had to pay. Thank goodness for $50 coupons and 5% off for gold members. After our 'fine dining' experience we went down stairs to get a room. After handing the receptionist my gold members playing card and ID she tells me that there are only suites available and that we would need to pay a $50 up charge and she rudely told us that we should have planned ahead; again, we felt like we were getting poor customer service because we were 'young'. The casino floor was very slow, the parking lot was not even half full and it was a Monday night and apparently they had no rooms other than the ones we needed to pay for? We said no thank you and decided to be more responsible with our drinking and drive home that night. We spent less than we would have if they would have worked with us on the room (bonus for us) and on our way home I checked the hotel reservations online (because I was a little bitter about our whole experience) and my free room coupon worked on a completely free room... I know that was long but if you managed to get through it, my advice is to start racking up points at The Monarch because their hotel will be ready soon, and when it is, we will probably not be back. read more

This applies only to the Tradewinds Marketplace food service area, not the casino area or hotel. My friend and I had a bad dining experience last night at The Tradewinds Marketplace. It took 36 minutes to get two grilled chicken sandwiches with french fries. The chicken was grilled too long and had shriveled and dried out. The menu indicated that the sandwich included provolone cheese, but my friend didn't taste it and couldn't see it until asking one of the line cooks, who explained that it had been melted onto the chicken (and into the bun) - opening the sandwich for a more careful look there was a very small amount of melted cheese. You should also be aware that there is a large video display above the cooking area, alternating two pages of menu items (sandwiches on one and burgers on the other) and a generic slide with the name of the Tradewinds. There is a smaller video display at the cashier station (where the food orders are placed), which shows only the sandwich page of the menu - had it showed both pages, I would have ordered a burger but it was late and I was hungry, so I went with the grilled chicken instead of the burger I didn't know about. There were quite a few other guests waiting for food in the Tradewinds area, all of whom were as frustrated as we were and some of them had to wait for food longer than we did. The only good things I can tell you about this experience are that the fries were quite good and the cashier was friendly. Some casino properties have food service provided by a national chain, such as Burger King or Arby's that need to follow franchise standards. The Isle might do well to bring in a reputable chain in place of The Tradewinds. We would not eat there again. read more

We like to come up here and stay at the Isle for a quick little getaway, we like to splurge and upgrade to the jacuzzi room, rooms are clean, but do need updating, lots of repairs need to be made. I'm visiting right now and very disappointed, went to fill my jacuzzi yup and there is no hot water. Called the front desk and got some strange story about the city shutting off water and not warning hotels, we all know the city doesn't send water into buildings hot and if they shut off water we wouldn't be able to run water at all. Where to even begin! Was super excited when we realized the Isle was a Caesars hotel as we have always had wonderful experiences at Caesars in Vegas. Was planning on getting into town pretty early so requested early checkin. I thought they were supposed to notify me when the room was ready but they never did. Ended up just heading to the hotel at regular check in time. When we arrived at the Front Desk the guy was extremely rude. We had never stayed at the hotel before so I asked for directions to our room. He said "it's on the other side of the casino" but didn't include anything more specific then that. When we finally found our room, we get inside, on the desk in the room there is a sign that says High Touch surfaces are being cleaned more throughly due to Covid. The sign is sitting right next to the coffee maker with a used coffee pod in it, so clearly not cleaned. The window is cracked and will not close. The website said the room included two bottles of water, however we didn't have any in the room. We called down to the front desk and asked if they could bring us water. He told us "it would be awhile." Several hours later, still no water. So we called the front desk again, this time a lady told us that she was all the way over on the other side and couldn't bring us water and we should just go down to the casino floor and get our own water. So decided to just try taking a shower but the drain will not stay up so the tub just fills with water, had to stick a washcloth in the drain to keep it open enough to drain. When we got ready for bed we realized there were only three pillows on the bed, so we called housekeeping to see if we could get another pillow and that water that was advertised. It rang over 20 times before someone finally answered and immediately asked me to hold. After several minutes holding I asked for the pillow and was told there was no one to bring us one but if we wanted to come to the other side of the casino we could get it ourselves. Decided to just go get it myself since they couldn't be bothered with it. When I get to the front desk they are rude about it. Then I have to carry the water and a pillow back across the packed casino floor. The ID checking staff literally laughed at me. It was embarrassing and degrading. Tried complaining to another employee and they just said they were short staffed and that it was pretty normal. I expected better from a Caesars hotel, especially when I spent almost $200 to stay here for one night and you can't even give me the bottle of water that is advertised when booking the room or be bothered to clean the coffee pot or make sure your customers needs are taken care of in any way. Worst Caesars experience I have ever had, will not be staying again!!!! I'll spend the extra $10 to stay someplace that actually has some hospitality. read more
