My problem with this place is the very poor quality of their steaks for the price. 6oz of steak tips with grilled onions 25% of his was grizzle. The gravy had an almost black color an odd flavor. And the price was 16.99 with out salad bar. This is a steak house. You would think that they try and make an effort. Now service was great salad bar was stocked and clean. The food is first rate. The wonderful selection of entrees, salad bar, soup bar and dessert bar are second to none. Food can improve a whole lot! Have been here about three times and it got worse every time... 1) Salad Bar - very dirty lettuce was brown and wilted. The counters were always left dirty And never cleaned. 2) the steak - never ordered to what you asked for it was either overcooked or undercooked always had to ask to get it correct and would come back out worse. 3) baked potatoes - always overcooked and oversalted the potato skin The last time we died here was two years ago when my son visited us and we haven't been back since! It has been many years since dining here at Hoss's. We decided to stop for a quick lunch, mostly for the salad bar ...... Have to say, the salad bar area was extremely clean and well stocked. The desert area was also just as clean and well stocked. We ordered steaks and I opted for fries and have to say the meat was not that tender and the fries have little to be desired. This is why I gave it 3-Stars ! The service was outstanding and the restaurant was extremely clean ... Not much of a value here considering it is Hoss's, much better steaks locally ..... Sorry ..... I'm so very sad to only giving two stars. 20 plus years ago I discovered Hoss's and loved it but, things have gone downhill. The food is not great, 3 of us had BBQ Chicken all was over cooked. All had the Salad Bar and it's ok they could make some changes. Bacon bits, use real, salad was turning brown someone should really take a good look and upgrade. The places need to be renovated, the carpet is a mess. The people our GREAT! Please Please have someone help make improvements, the food needs help. The reviews were sadly right. I come to an event every 5 years and we stay in Gettysburg. In 2019 Hoss's was a good choice. Not premium but affordable with good food. This time around the salad bar was still good especially when so few places back home offer any buffet style since Covid, but the steak? Only two choices and I went for the 20 ounce bone in ribeye. Well I expect about 5-10 ounces to be bone weight, but this wasn't marbled ribeye. It was fat. None of the fat was trimmed. I doubt there was 5 ounces of actual beef there. I should have gotten the 10 pounce sirloin but unless you're a major chain known for consistency across all locations, a sirloin is a risk of tough meat with gristle. I thought the more expensive ribeye would be a better option. Apparently any steak at a 'steak and seafood' place is not a good option. The service was good though I overheard my server complaining about some other customer's tip. Maybe it was warranted but if servers are going to hang out at a table one section over they shouldn't be disrespectful of customers. I nevertheless left 20% because it's a tough job and I was treated well. read more

Unfortunately Hoss's is just not a decent value any longer. About $21 for Chicken Tenders and Salad Bar. In the area you can travel to Mountain Gate Restaurant in Thurmont MD and get an excellent Chicken Beef Ham etc Buffet for the same price. read more

We joined family at this Hoss's location. Danielle provided excellent service! She made recommendations, was efficient, and performed her role in a friendly, professional manner. We had our own section, a large room separated by a curtain into two rooms. Surprisingly, noise wasn't noticeable. I ate shrimp scampi as my entree, accompanied by the salad bar. 12 hot, delicious (drowned in garlic butter) shrimp arrived to my taste buds' delight. I enjoyed a side of mashed potatoes with brown gravy on the side. The gravy was flavorful and loaded with beef morsels. The salad bar was just fine, with recommended improvements. Add flavor and crispy topping to the bland, runny macaroni and cheese. Offer hot stewed tomatoes. Add more, varied, eyecatching fruit to salad and dessert bars. Kiwi, mango, as suggestions. Add variety of salad choices such as chick peas in garlic, vinegar cucumbers, tomatoes with mozzarella balls. Replace the same-old dried-out garlic bread with bread sticks, cracker thins, cheese cubes, and artisan bread. All told, we enjoyed our time at Hoss's in Hanover! read more

Friendly staff but horrible service. The salad bar is underwhelming and mediocre, along with the dessert bar. There is not much variety. The food entrees are mediocre as well, especially for the expensive prices. Everything is overpriced and underwhelming. I asked for a side Caesar salad with my crab cake, and he said they don't offer that, but there's literally a Caesar salad at the salad bar- it's just a money gimmick. He didn't tell me they offered Caesar salad at the bar, however, and I had to find out when the rest of my party came back from the bar. I gave in and got Caesar salad, but the lettuce was chopped in huge pieces, was very sloppy. They need to up the quality of their food and service to be a place I would come back to. read more

Friendly staff, pretty crappy food quality. I had nachos at the buffet. The "cheese" was kind of clear. I put it on my chips and I could see the chips through it.
