We stopped on our way home from a beach vacation September 13, 2020 based on Yelp reviews, however uneven. Although the exterior & interior seem a little dilapidated, it's quite clean inside. The interior wraps around the kitchen and service area. I remember this being something else years ago, like a KFC? I would suggest it's a bit overdue for a facelift or renovation, but I have to admit, it was doing a brisk business during our visit. Staff were welcoming; they seated us promptly, brought coffee straightaway and menus. Staff wore masks, some had gloves as well. We ordered breakfast skillets, hers a "House" skillet and mine a "South of the Border." I thought these plates were executed fairly well. The SOTB skillet eggs were perfect, I thought the salsa was good but probably not house-made, some potatoes were underdone but not terribly. My wife enjoyed her skillet, eggs nicely done, hollandaise nice but probably pre-made, also some potatoes underdone. Our waiter brought out some pretty decent biscuits with the order. The coffee was good too. Sunday morning the service was good despite the restaurant being full. As a traveler, I appreciated a decent road meal but I will probably go elsewhere just for fun. If I lived in Arcadia, I would keep this place in my rotation. read more

We stopped in for breakfast after a weekend of camping at Peace River Campground. The place was packed on a Sunday morning so expect to wait a little while for a table. The waitress called us over as soon as she saw someone get up and started clearing the table. She was great. Brought us our own pitchers of sweet tea and water so we could do our own refills and not have to wait. I ordered a half order of French toast and bacon and my friend ordered eggs benedict. They weren't on the menu, she said they weren't popular but the kitchen could make it. The food was good but just average. Prices were great. Overall it's a good place to stop if you're in the area and not looking for anything fancy. read more

We were on our way to Ft Myers Saturday morning and saw Hot Skillets on Yelp. They had good ratings so we decided to take a chance. The building looks like an old fast food place redone into a diner. We walked in and found a booth. Soon a very friendly waitress came to the table and offered coffee and gave us menus. We were soon drinking very fresh coffee and were given a carafe to keep our cups full. Withing ten minutes we had our orders. I had a three egg omelet with rye toast and home fries. My wife had two eggs, biscuit and grits. Both were very well prepared, hot with a good taste. Portions were better than average. Several times our waitress and another waitress asked if all was good and if we needed anything else. The waitress brought the check to the table. All in all a good experience. Meh. Place was jam packed as we went on a Sunday morning, stopped to grab some food. The coffee was surprisingly good and the carafe they gave us was helpful. Service was alright and food was mediocre. Our table was wobbly and we sat in plain view of the kitchen. The food could really be brought up a notch. Really nothing special here. After walking the downtown area antiquing for a few hours we decided to grab lunch at one of the local restaurants before leaving town and decided to give Hot Skillets a try. This is a small family owned restaurant that appears to have been repurposed from possibly a national chain restaurant that didn't fit this small town's mantra, in this case less is definitely more comparably. We found this simple restaurant very clean and the service extremely friendly and attentive. We both chose the cheeseburger for lunch one with the homemade vegetable soup the other with hand-battered onion rings fried crispy. The burgers were served hot and were very flavorful the fresh sliced tomatoes, onions and lettuce along with the unique home style pickles made for a great lunch burger. The onion rings and vegetable soup were great sides and the ice tea was as delicious as it was refreshing. I'd definitely stop in here again when in the area. read more

I stopped here with my family on our way to canoe the Peace River. We had a nice and filling lunch. I ordered a cheese and onion quesadilla and we had mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. We were visiting some friends here in Arcadia and came in for breakfast. There was 6 of us together. We knew we would have to wait a little bit for a table because it was a Sunday. We ended up busing our table after the last folks left. I ordered a skillet and was disappointed. The scrambled egg that comes with it was not mixed in with the skillet ingredients. The scrambled eggs were cooked and 'folded' and laided on top of the skillet. The portion was small and not very good. One of the ladies at our table had a biscuit with her meal.
