I have been an avid cyclist for my entire life and have gone through lots of bikes for racing and recreation. My 20 year old Serotta was my first "real" bike and I have thousands of miles on it and it looked like it. When I look at my current stable of road bikes I decided I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint (pun intended) and I wanted to get my steel framed Serotta back on the road. For the past ten years it was relegated to stationary trainer duty. I decided to get it re-painted and rebuilt with new components. Toby did an amazing job removing some minor dents and corrosion and repainted it in Porsche Guards Red with new Serotta decals and added a front derailleur hanger that matches the bikes perfectly. I am now pouring over components and wheel selections to finish the project. Service and quality of work was excellent and he took the time to work with me on this build. I was in a predicament. My grandson ask for a new bike for his birthday and somehow the corona virus made it almost impossible to find one. Luckily, a week before his birthday we were able to find one unassembled. I tried in vein to find a local bike shop who could assemble the bike in time for his special day. Searching Yelp I located Hot Tubes, some 30 miles away. Toby answered my call and even though they work on repairing high end bikes he was sympathetic to my situation. Bring the bike in he said and it will be ready tomorrow. Toby and Josh saved the day and my grandson will get his birthday wish at his party tomorrow. I took an old bike to this shop to have reassembled after a flight where I shipped it to myself -- I had left it in the box for a loooong time and was worried I wouldn't be able to put it back together and it would need a full service and these guys were awesome about it. They cleaned it, lubed it up, put it back together, adjusted and tuned everything and I had it back in a week (their mechanic doesn't come in every day and I dropped it off before Labor Day holiday weekend). Really happy with their service and impressed at everything they can do -- they can build frames! Rehab frames, paint, service... they can do pretty much anything. A real gem of a shop to find out here. It's in a building where a lot of other businesses rent space so you have to follow the instructions to find the right door (they're all labeled), but once you know where it is, it's super easy to get in and out. Highly recommend the team. They're super friendly and efficient- so nice to have nearby. read more

I really wish I could give more than five stars... a lot more!! I was completely blown away by the work Toby (Hot Tubes, Shirley MA) did on my frame!! Not only is this gentleman an artist, but this artist is a gentleman! Truly a master of his craft!! Completely fascinated and impressed by Toby's astute attention to perfection, his ability to flawlessly match paint and his top notch customer service!! He did a small paint repair on my right side seat stay to repair a couple of small chips sustained when my derailleur snapped off, spun and hit the frame. You wouldn't be able to tell where the paint was touched up - it looks amazing... the finish looks absolutely factory new! I am so glad I met Toby - so glad I chose to take the drive to his shop!! Forever grateful, I give Hot Tubes my highest recommendation. Don't know if I'd ever trust anyone else with my bikes!! read more

Just picked up my bike from Hot Tubes, I have NEVER been so impressed with a bike shop! I'm back in Shirley after living in Colorado for the last 26 years and not one bike shop out there comes even close to what I experienced at Hot Tubes. I met Josh, Jordan and Toby who are the nicest guys! They each made me feel as though we all have been friends forever. I can not recommend this shop enough. Brought my Bianchi Specialissima in for carbon repair. Had a huge crack almost completely around on top tube. Toby had it repaired with matching paint in about two and a half weeks. So happy to have found him. If I had shipped the bike out west to another company it could have been months before I had my bike back. He does excellent work and is very reasonably priced. Fantastic experience! Toby, the owner of Hot Tubes, knows everything about bikes. He builds custom bicycles, does custom painting for Cervelo bicycles, and has a junior cycling racing team. He also donates a lot time and materials to working with college students looking to build new and innovative bicycles and other human-powered transportation. I have both purchased a bike from this company, and our college team was fortunate enough to have been sponsored by Hot Tubes for an engineering competition.
