Hot Wok Cafe is what this place is all about. Your food is cooked in a HOT Wok. I know this because I walked in the wrong door, and found myself at the takeout counter. The man asked me what I'd like to order, and it was like ordering directly from the kitchen! I ordered the General's Chicken and a side of white rice. Food was ready in about 5-mins, it was cool to watch him cook. From the kitchen, to the takeout tray, bag it and there you go! Doesn't get any hotter and fresher than that! How was the General's Chicken? Tender small pieces of chicken, battered, fried, and coated in a not-to-sweet sauce. Chicken wasn't dry or chewy. Cooked just right, not overcooked. It went well with a couple scoops of rice. I think next time I'll order from the menu. A good first experience here. Hot Wok Cafe is located in the Marina Plaza Shopping Center. free parking

This is a solid Chinese fast food place that will leave you pretty satisfied. I ordered the scrambled egg with shrimp lunch special (side of chow mein) through DoorDash. The food came pretty quickly and was still warm to the touch. The scrambled egg was still moist, which is a great sign as some places over cooked them to the point that it's dry. The shrimp was crunchy and flavorful... and there was a good portion of shrimp too. The chow mein was a little bland, but the eggs and shrimp were salty enough that it balanced everything out. This entire meal was under $12 through DoorDash (not including driver tip) and they gave me enough food to make 2 meals out of it. Overall... satisfying for both lunch and dinner and some good Chinese fast food.

The Food is absolutely phenomenal to start with. so tasty especially the Chicken Fried Rice. It was our first time here and definitely will be coming back. my husband loved his General Chicken and of course i loved my Seafood and Vegetables. On top of the already delicious food they prepped and cooked, just add a little bit of their chili sauce which i suspect housemade, made the food tastes even better. Hot and sour soup was also tasty. Ordered Singaporean rice stick noodle on the phone and I was charged for Singaporean rice stick noodle + combination. I explained I only wanted Singaporean rice stick noodle. And the lady repeated 3 times and showed me what it looked like as if she was insisting I should be accepting the order. Horrible attitude.

Perfect amount of salty, umami, sweet flavoring, and complements the bbq/smokiness of the food. Also, a huge plus that all their food came out piping hot. The scallop vermicelli was still steaming 15 min after it came out. Enoki and king oyster were my favorite. Meat-wise, overall everything was above average but today, the pork intestines were a bit too greasy. Beef really hit the spot, both the fattiness and tenderness. Lamb was a close second, also very savory and tender. Some pieces were crispy AND fatty, which I LOVE. Scallop vermicelli was good flavor-wise, slightly salty for me. Cucumber salad was also HUGE, 4 people could not finish it. Also delicious and refreshing.

It was quiet when we first arrived, but it gradually filled with more people and chatter. Parking was easy; I was lucky to find street parking right in front of the restaurant. The interior is cute and themed like China in olden times. I liked how the food was served on long platters with little candles underneath to keep everything warm, which made sharing easy. Two of my friends were trying Chinese skewers for the first time. We ordered everything through a QR code, and the system was straightforward. The menu being visual online helped made ordering easier. The food came out in good timing. The staff was helpful whenever we had questions about what certain items were. Water refills were easy to flag down. The cucumber salad was a huge portion and so refreshing. We wish the cold potato salad was a bit softer (it was crunchy). We didn't find anything too spicy. For the skewers, everything was juicy and well-seasoned. The flavoring was great. My personal favorites were the beef and lamb sticks which were tender. We also tried items like gristle, gizzard, and gluten (yum!) We ended up spending a little over $30 per person after tax and tip. Overall, this was a fun group meal and I'm glad it was a good introduction for my friends who hadn't tried this style of skewers before. I'd recommend it!

Curry Beef Stew I've never had Curry beef stew before, prefer chicken, curry, but for some odd reason, I decided to order this dish. It was underwhelming and I won't order it again. The Curry sauce itself was OK but the big long pieces of beef were somewhat gross, lots of fat. They added plenty of slices to onions and a few pieces of green pepper and Julienned carrots, but that's about it for being called a stew. So I learned my lesson by not sticking to my usual order, and won't order wonton soup or curry beef stew again.

From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.

First off, the ingredients are noticeably fresh. There's also a great variety, so it's easy to customize your bowl exactly how you like it. I went with the Szechuan classic soup base, and it was honestly one of the most authentic versions I've had outside of China. The broth had a deep, rich flavor with that perfect balance of spice and the signature numbing Sichuan peppercorn kick. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of it--it had real depth and complexity. Another highlight is the value. If you spend over $20, you get free dessert, and they offer coconut milk sago and bingfen. Both are super refreshing and help cool things down after the heat from the malatang, which is a really nice touch. Overall, it's well worth the price for the quality you're getting. On the bright side, their ingredient selection is big and seems fresh. My minor complaint is that some items in the back row--like the quail eggs--are hard to get when they sit far back and blocked by veggies that take space, probably because those items cost more.
