It's about 12:30 pm on a Friday, I had some work done on my car at the auto body shop for almost 3 hrs. We were really hungry and asked one of the technicians if there was anything to eat around the area. He suggested trying the San Mateo Food Mall across the street. He asked if we liked Chinese food like Panda Express. Of course, we did. He suggested trying Wu Kong Express bc they are having a grand opening special from 11/21/24- 12/05/24: Buy one combo get one combo free. Who doesn't like free food? So my friend and I placed an order over the phone. Since my car was completed, we took the food to a Japanese Tea Garden and had a relaxing and delicious picnic. The food was delicious, tastier, and cheaper than Panda Express, even the portion was more. We definitely got our money's worth! Especially with the buy one get one free deal. What a deal! Make sure to get yourself some! You can order via Ubereats, Phone, or the kiosk inside the San Mateo Food Mall.

I'm all about a good deal so I gotta share this buy one combo and get one free during the grand opening 11/21-12/05 at Wukong Express in San Mateo. It's such a good deal. This spot is an alternative to Panda Express Chinese cuisine but offers better value for money. They have a variety of items like orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, eggplant tofu, kung pao chicken, sweet fire chicken breast and more! Pair it with some fried rice or chow mein. So easy to order for take out

I'm so happy I found this new food hall in San Mateo. Wukong Express is a Chinese fast food restaurant that is made fresh to order, affordable and delicious. This is an alternative to Panda Express, but it's cheaper with no msg. Also, it comes with big portions. Each box is only $9. You can't get this deal anywhere nowadays especially in this economy. I really enjoyed the walnut shrimp and eggplant with the chow mein.

The egg fried rice was perfectly cooked. It was a simple yet satisfying dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended!

The egg fried rice was perfectly cooked, with fluffy grains and a delightful balance of flavors. The seasoning was just right--not too heavy, allowing the natural flavors to shine. Highly recommended!

Today I ordered Fried Rice 、Eggplant Tofu and Broccoli beef. All of them are delicious Good choice for lunch and dinner in San Mateo.

I'm a little surprised that I never wrote a review for Apple Fritter. I've been eating here since…read morethey turned my favorite Taco Bell into this quaint and delicious local eatery. When they first opened for a few hours a day, the locals couldn't get enough of the homemade food and quirky atmosphere. Now, it's a San Mateo staple. Whether you're craving squishy doughnuts or a juicy burger, Apple Fritter delivers. Their wall of doughnuts as you enter from the parking lot is a tempting way to stir up your appetite. Counter service is always fast and friendly. Just pick up a menu while drooling over the doughnuts and whenever you're ready to order, someone is ready to take it. Seating is both inside and out, but sitting inside gives you the pleasure of looking at all of the fun oddities on the walls and ceiling. The food is amazing, the decor eclectic and the service cordial. Just check the hours before heading over. They cater to their hardworking employees as much as the customers, so hours are limited.

3.5 stars cons: while the interior whimsical decor is cute,…read morethey are all caked with thick layers of grease and dust. the thought of a gust of breeze coming through to move the hanging decor and having large dust fall into food was on my mind the entire time. the condiments on the table were all also dirty, doesn't look like they were cleaned at the end of each service for some time. parking is awful, minimal spots and tight spaces so if one car parks off then it's messed up for the rest of the cars. there is no street or close neighborhood parking. i know that's not their fault but needed to give a heads up to people coming. would be nice if the next door (closed) auto service would allow weekend parking. pros: extensive menu for food and coffee. have been many times for take out and each different item tried has been flavorful and seasoned well. crispy tots! donuts taste fresh and flavorful with many different types. we were lucky to have had the apple fritter before they sold out and it satisfied the craving i had for one which prompted this recent sit down visit for breakfast. i do agree with another comment an outdoor/separate window for people just coming for donuts would be smart as i could definitely see myself wanting to come for just donuts but being deterred by the line (and parking.) they work hard to turn indoor tables quickly to keep line moving quickly. would be nice if they placed silverware on the table after cleaning so we didn't have to flag someone down. or have a station for cutlery pickup that's not the labeled take out only cutlery they had. plenty of outdoor seating. having menus available outdoors would help with the line i'm sure as you don't get much time to review the menu once you're close to the register. overall worth a visit, weekday would probably be best for a first visit before braving weekend crowd. please work on cleaning as the rise in foodborne illnesses are at the forefront of everyone's mind lately and one moldy lip of a condiment is a moment away from getting someone sick.

Add all those tourists and transit people you also have people from the whole peninsula, you can understand how crowded it gets here. The parking lot is probably the worst part of the experience here because it's always congested so I do not recommend coming here is you are short of time. It shares the parking lot with the carwash and several other restaurants so you'll likely be stuck here for a long while regardless whether you are going through drive thru or parking. The food is standard in n out which means something if you either are local or tourist. In n out intentionally goes old school so there is no app no order ahead and everything is pretty much all hand made including fries. If you never had their fries you may be surprised at the difference in texture but you'll like it the more you try. The burger is fresh and my only complaint is that I don't like their buns especially if you do grilled onions or animal style because the buns get soggy and breaks apart. That's one part shake shack had the upper hand.

Ordered the Double-Double animal style, and yeah... it lives up to the hype. The patties taste fresh, not frozen, and you can tell they're made to order. The melted cheese, grilled onions, pickles, that sauce -- it's messy but balanced. Nothing feels overdone. It's just a really well-built burger. Fries get mixed opinions, but straight out of the fryer they're solid. Light, a little crispy, not overly greasy. Add a bit of salt and they're gone fast. Shake was thick, classic, no shortcuts there either. What stands out most is how consistent everything feels. The menu is simple, but that's the point -- they focus on doing a few things really well instead of trying to do everything. Service is quick, staff actually seem organized, and the place stays clean even when it's busy. It's one of those spots where you don't feel like you overpaid or got rushed through a line. You just get good food, made right, every time. Came in expecting fast food, left feeling like it's in its own category. Easy 5 stars -- and yeah, I'd go back without thinking twice.

Smash burgers are always a special treat, and we're lucky to have them here in San Mateo! I found Shake Shack to be super flavorful, especially the gooey cheese!! I got the K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich and the K-Shack BBQ Burger due to the BOGO deal that they were promoting along with a side of fries and shake. K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich: 3/5. I remember liking their regular fried chicken sandwich but I was so disappointed in this one! The chicken was crispy and sauced up with spicy sweet gochujang glaze but the chicken was room temp inside! I'm typically okay when food temperatures but it felt like the chicken sat for awhile before it was served. K-Shack BBQ Burger: 3/5. This was also an average burger. The KBBQ sauce in this burger was just not good. It was sour? Not sure how to describe the taste but it just didn't work. The meat was okay too and was greasy, just like how I remembered. Fries: 3/5. I love good crinkle fries but these also were okay to me. They were also not overly hot when served to me and I felt like I got the small pieces left at the bottom of the tray. Chocolate Shake: 5/5. The only redeeming factor of Shake Shack was this Shake. It was chocolatey, perfectly sweetened and thick! It was tasty on this warmer day. Overall, the food was average, especially for the price. I feel like for $11.49 a burger or chicken sandwich and $4.99 for fries is a lot for the amount of food and quality that you get. The only item worth stopping by to me is the Shakes. I totally get why the place was pretty empty. I wish that Shake Shack would go back to the good ole days where the food and service was cared a little more for!
