Outstanding!! The crispy rice soup is amazing!! I don't add the crunchy pieces but the veggies, chicken and shrimp is cooked perfectly. I don't typically enjoy zucchini... but I love it in any of their dishes. The sweet chili fish (I added shrimp) is just as good They use an appropriate amount of sauce. They do not drown their food. Anyone who would rate this place less than 4 stars just isn't from around here. This is West Cobb County and we're known for our BBQ and chicken wings. It's very hard to find good Asian cuisine around here. It's nothing on the outside and it has one table, so it's pretty much carry-out only. Their soups are outstanding. And the consistency of their quality is spot on. I almost don't want to post such an outstanding review because they might get overwhelmed. The lady who runs it knows everyone by name, even though her English is hard to understand. Very nice and very clever. She gives out marital advice as she takes your order. I'm going to sample the entire menu. I'm a big fan of Pad Thai noodle, but that's not their strong point. I would travel 30 miles for a good Pad Thai. It had been a while since I ate here so perhaps this was an anomaly but our food was almost inedible--in fact some things were. The general tso's chicken and orange tofu both tasted like syrup--Way too sweet to eat. They also tasted exactly the same. Never coming back to this restaurant. They NEVER have chicken wings. They allow you to order and then come and tell you at the last minute that they have run out of that item. Super frustrating. I'm surprised this place hasn't been reviewed yet. Hot Wok is a tiny chinese place right on the edge, of kennesaw, acworth, and Marietta. They've got 3 tables inside for people dining in, and they don't do delivery, so this is primarily a takeout joint. The menu isn't particularly large, and they seem to stick to the standards. Prices are pretty good, particularly for lunch, and they put the food pretty fast. The reason this place gets a 4 star rating for me is because, for chinese food, it's pretty darn healthy, while not losing flavor. They tend to be fairly light on the sauces, without sacrificing the flavor. They use tons of fresh veggies crisp veggies in the food, which bumps the food up quite a bit to me. In the Kennesaw area, we have a lot of chinese restaurants.. most of them awful. This is pretty much the only place I get takeout at. read more

I'm surprised two out of three reviews were not good...I am a big fan of Hot Wok...but not for the Chinese food as much as for the Thai food. For starters, it is very clean and very pretty inside, even though it is a take-out place more than a sit-down restaurant. Yes, they have three tables and yes, you can eat in...but the tables are designed more for people to wait for their take-out. There are no servers and if you want to eat in, you still get your food served to you in a take-out container. However, I am fine with that because of the quality of the food. I have tried Pad Thai in about a dozen different restaurants...sit-down, take-out, Thai-only, Asian, fusion, you name it...and I like Hot Wok's the best. Everything I have ever gotten (including the Pad Thai and other dishes) has been freshly made with super fresh ingredients. I have never had vegetables that weren't fresh or tough meat. I especially like that the vegetables are big enough to identify...no stems and pieces. The Pad Thai is served kind of in layers...you can munch one layer at a time (for those of you who are purists!) or dig in, stir it up, and taste all the flavors combined. It is spicy...so be prepared. They do a LOT of repeat business...I was eating-in a couple of weeks ago and was able to watch people coming and going...placing orders and picking up orders they had called in. Great take out when nothing else seems to sound good. The menu is very typical. No surprises here. However, the prices seem to be very high considering the location and the fact that it is just a takeout location. Not like I'm being waited on or anything. The owners are very friendly and helpful when it comes to making a menu selection. I wish this place would offer something that didn't taste so typical American. How about a real Chinese menu as an option to the Americanized main menu for those that appreciate authentic foods and cultures? WOW... I just noticed that I last reviewed this location back in 2014 ... Since then, we've been back many, many, many times. Hands down, this is the best take out location for Asian Food in the area. The food is always fresh. It's always delicious. And it's always quick. This is every order and every time. They don't deliver ... But that is ok because even for take out it's worth the drive. I'm going to echo, again that the staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. I walked in at 19:27 on Thursday, October 18, planning on eating there, but there were only 3 small tables which were empty, so I figured ordering to-go was probably best. There were two other customers apparently waiting for orders so I browsed a menu for a couple of minutes and the one employee I had seen when I walked in had disappeared. I stood at the counter for several minutes waiting to place my order but no one ever appeared. So I drove across the street to China Moon and ordered Szechuan Chicken instead. I just moved from Gwinnett County to Cobb County...boy, I am going to miss my Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and other Asian restaurants!!! I had heard a couple of good comments for Hot Wok so my husband and I tried it for the first time, I hate to say....and it will be the LAST time. The wonton soup was inedible. The hot and sour soup had no flavor and no ingredients in it which usually come in hot and sour soup....like mushrooms, veggies and good tofu. Nada!!! The Thai Basil beef was bland (even though I asked for Thai Hot) and my husband hated his broccoli and chicken...it was bland and had no seasonings...he could have made it better!!! Dined in, as others have stated this is mostly a take out place. The man and woman working there were very nice! I had a lunch special with vegetables and rice. The rice was good, just the right amount of sticky. Excellent egg rolls. But the vegetables were out of a bag or canned, generic, nothing special about them. The Good: Inside the restaurant is always clean You can tell that the ingredients in the food are fresh and that does make a BIG difference compared to other Chinese places. Went there for lunch with my family for the first time. I had the Pad Thai which came out nice and hot. However, it was sickeningly sweet and I couldn't quench my thirst all afternoon!
