This was an outstanding stay. The hotel was clean and well taken care of by housekeeping. We had a room with an outstanding view of the city. The hotel restaurants serve great food. When I had a concern the front desk listened to me. I was greatly impressed by the friendliness of the staff and of the guests. When I first booked a trip to Anchorage, I had booked a different hotel. When I spoke to them on the phone I was not impressed. I called Hotel Captain Cook instead, and was very impressed on my phone. I have to say that my visit measured up to the same standards I found in that phone call. Had business in Anchorage requiring I stay for a week. I was told rooms had been renovated/ updated. After first night at the Capt Cook I tried desperately to find another hotel ..... unfortunately every hotel was booked. Where to start ..... Wall paper peeling, Mold in bathroom, bathroom so small I could touch wall to wall, minimal towels, everyone has a hand out for a tip, breakfast dripped so much oil I asked for a new one.....new one was dripping in oil so I left hungry, no microwave, old mattress, noisy sheets. I could go on and on but my fingers need a rest. I took Uber from airport to hotel. The fellow greeting me refused to allow me to take my bag out of the car. He took bag into hotel and gave to another guy who refused to allow me to take to my room. Both said "company policy." What a hoot. Definitely not worth what they charge. read more

We had the displeasure of staying in the Crow's Nest of tower 3, June 30- July 2 2017. When we stepped into the room, it was as if we stepped back in time. A bad time. The suite was in major need of an update, or at least an upkeep. Burned out light bulbs, crooked sconce lamps (one of which was ready to fall of the wall) a missing window blind, (the other blind had it's cord tied into a know, preventing it from lowering all the way. an unplugged refrigerator with leftover food. Once the refrigerator was plugged in, it screeched similarly to Yoko Ono. We chose the Captain Cook because of it's 4 star rating. They need to relinquish a few of their stars. Meh in the purest sense of the word. The hotel looks grand from the outside, but once inside it's extremely dark. The breakfast is wildly overpriced and no included continental breakfast is available. The beds are teeny...only full beds in our "deluxe" room. We called for a rollaway bed and were told it wouldn't fit in the room when there was space for at least another whole full bed. read more

I have quite a special and unique fondness for the Hotel Captain Cook as someone near and dear to my heart worked here for 12 years. And since I attend mass at the Cathedral a walking distance away, I stop in and say hello to the hotel and take pictures. The original tower (approx. 140 rooms) was finished in 1966. The second tower was finished in 1978, and the third tower was finished in 1982/1983. A lot of history here. The hotel is proud to offer several banquet rooms for various events including parties and business functions. The Christmas parties I attended here have been the very best I have ever experienced. The restaurants and shops have something to offer everyone. They even have a health club complete with a pool. The artwork tells the story of how the hotel got it's name. The Captain Cook monument is within walking distance, along with the whole of downtown Anchorage. Depending on the season, the decorations are beautiful and also quite whimsical. read more

I've stayed at Captain Cook a number of times over the past 15 or so years. I really like the quirky 1960's vintage Polynesian explorer decor, especially in the lobby and hallways. The location is nice, you can walk to a lot of things. The rooms are usually fine. Nothing special, but fine. This week, I had my first really bad experience at the Captain Cook. My room was in tower 3 and a couple of rooms away from the elevators. Good so far. Somehow, the wall of my room still managed to vibrate whenever the elevator went up or down. Loudly. Continually except for a period of about 2 hours late at night. I barely slept, it was that loud. When I went to take a shower, rusty water ran out of the pipes. Not just a quick little bit of discolored water when first turned out, which would have been bad enough. No, rusty water ran for a good long time. First, dark and murky, then lightening up as it ran. I reported the problems to the desk. The clerk said yeah, that's why they don't rent that room out often. I was stunned. I pushed her, saying it was unacceptable and finally she comp'ed my valet parking. Still charged me full rate for a room that they KNEW was seriously substandard. That's appalling. read more

I have stayed at this establishment several times for work (not a choice) and every time I've stayed, I haven't been impressed. Don't get me wrong, it is aesthetically beautiful, but the accommodations are subpar. It's an old hotel and in the rooms it shows. I've stayed in the rooms farthest from the elevator and I can still hear the elevator going up and down. They offer in room dining but are unable to accommodate. I called twice at 10:45 and 11pm as my flight got me in late and other food options outside of the hotel were already closed. I was told I would get a call back to take my order...never happened. I did the same for breakfast, never got a call back. The whole hotel seems to be understaffed for the amount of people staying. I would reccomend staying at the Hilton Embassy Suites instead. Free happy hour drinks and free breakfast. And it is also a very beautiful and updated hotel. read more

I really have enjoyed my stay. Tower III rooms are nice and big! Clean, quiet, close to everything, and even have a decent (not awesome) exercise club you can use (better than most hotels). Forget a suit, they have extra clean ones. Bars, restaurants, shops, chocolate... The only downside is parking, but that's normal when you stay downtown. Ditch the car and take the bus or walk and get out and enjoy Anchorage on foot. I'd stay again. read more

For a $169 room (+ $20 tax fee) this hotel offers literally nothing special. This is supposedly the best hotel in anchorage, but for the price tag, it was not worth it at all and I regret spending so much money here. Not to mention, the parking is very confusing and once you figure it out, it's $30 a day, not included in your rental fee, then you gotta lug all your belongs across the street. Check in was smooth, and the employees are very friendly I will say that. The room though, it's just very outdated and dreary. There is no microwave, so do not expect to heat anything up because they want you to buy their overpriced, mediocre restaurant food. The chairs are also so cheap, it's literally a chair frame with a cushion so it feels like it's going to break at any moment. The bathroom has no fan, and all the pillows are shaped like cyclinders. The ceiling fan also makes a loud rumbling noise on high, and the room was over 80 degrees when we came in. Also do not show up on the weekends if you expect to work out or swim, check in is at 3pm and everything closes down at 4pm on the weekends. It just doesn't make sense for us to check in and we are confined to our rooms until the morning, in which the pool and workout room was full because of the limited hours so everyone has to go at once (this is solely on weekends though). The gift shop (which has items like snacks, toiletries, and other items you may need) also closes at 6, so we were unable to grab something we needed around 8, and there's no other place to go to get anything unless you instacart it to your room. All the furniture just feels old besides the main bed, even the table, I tried to move it, and the top is not even connected to the legs of the table. I just think, for $189, the hotel room should be a lot nicer and I should be able to use the amenities after check in. I spent my whole stay just in my room because there is nothing to do because everything was closed (which yes I understand it's a pandemic, but all the amenities are open on the weekdays so I do not get why it is closed on the weekend only when I stayed). It's my biggest money regret I have spent in a while and I would rather stay at embassy suites. read more

I love history and I love the tales of Captain Cook, from a history nerd perspective this was an incredible place to stay. Lots of décor, artwork and displays about CC, which was great. Beyond that the appeal drops quickly. The furniture in rooms and most the common areas appear to have been last updated in 1972. Lighting is very low everywhere and the smells of decades of smoking are still in the walls. The "gym" is in brutal disrepair and the restaurants were grossly overextended for resources and out of their depth for the mammoth number fo rooms/guests. It's a nice hotel with some flaws. First the flaws. The style and decoration of the hotel is a bit old. That includes the furniture, the colors of the walls and rooms, and the tv as well. It won't feel super modern. But if you don't mind that, it's enjoyable in other areas. Despite being older looking, the bed is comfortable and the overall stay isn't bad at all. The views can be pretty decent if you get one of the higher up floors. Probably one of the best perks is it's location. It's close to many restaurants and bars nearby, and is perfect for events like the Iditarod or the reindeer run. It also has a convenience store, a cafe, a few restaurants, and bars in it as well if you need some quick bites. The arrival and check in/out were all smooth and painless. read more

The Captain Cook is by far the most recommended hotel in Anchorage, and many people would say it's the 'nicest' one here. This truly Alaskan hotel boasts a connection to the Cook Inlet with its name: the Captain Cook. Captain Cook was an American explorer who 'first ventured' to Alaska and essentially 'discovered' the Cook Inlet and Anchorage area. He then went onto Hawaii to get killed by the natives there (they thought he was a God because of his guns, nails, and fancy ship- so they sacrificed him and ate him for his knowledge). Anyways, this hotel has a 'ship' theme with wooden walls, glassy-polished floors, and Alaskan waterway-inspired décor. There's a great little classy bar on the west side of the main hotel called 'Whale's Tail' and if you're staying here, I highly recommend you spend an evening checking out their wines, cocktails, and little menu items. The rest of the hotel has a few high end gift shops which include an array of native crafts. They have ivory carvings, jade carvings, antler carvings, native beaded items, and a few traditional 'touristy things' like magnets and, of course, snacks. There are some really nice ballrooms as well and I absolutely recommend this venue for weddings. But- most people aren't going to come here simply for the Whale's Tale bar or ballrooms. Most people are reading this review in the hopes of hearing about the rooms. I've stayed at a few different rooms here at the Captain Cook. I've had a king bed room and I've also stayed in the Crow's Nest Suites (which are essentially the 'Penthouse' options for this hotel). All of the rooms here are very well-maintained, clean, and stocked with all of the amenities you'd hope for- including large flat screen TVs with a good array of cable channels, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. The beds have nice neutral-colored décor and although the main part of the hotel is decorated in dark hues, the rooms have lighter walls- which make them quite welcoming (especially in the winter when we have nearly 14 hours of darkness in Anchorage a majority of the time). In the summer when we have our notorious '24 hours of daylight' this hotel does offer black-out shades, so you won't be kept up by the light beyond your window. The Crows Nest suites are pricey, but worth it if you're willing to splurge. You'll have a nice living area as well as a private bedroom (or bedrooms). Every room in the Captain Cook has absolutely beautiful views. You'll either get to sit and overlook the Cook Inlet, the city of Anchorage, or the mountains that surround the city. There is no 'bad' room in terms of what you'll be looking at beyond your window. The staff are very friendly here, but have never gone 'above and beyond' in a way that's really amazed me. The room service, although pricey, is always delivered fairly quickly and is high quality. The maid service is excellent and really does a great job of cleaning the rooms efficiently. Honestly- if you're paying for a Crow's Nest Suite, you're going to be treated a bit better. The more money you spend, the more enthusiasm you are going to receive from the employees. This is common with any hotel establishment, and I can't downgrade them a star for giving me better service when I'm spending $400+ a night to stay with them, but it is a shame that I don't often find the same 'excitement' when I'm paying for a $100 to $250 room. The real reason everyone recommends this hotel is its location. It sits on the edge of 5th Avenue in Anchorage- which is the 'main drag' for all of the nightlife and tourist shops. You're walking distance from an array of quaint little Alaskan bars, eateries, gift shops, and shopping centers. There's a bike rental place across the street and a lot of 'shuttles' to out-of-Anchorage tours will pick you up from the Captain Cook free of charge. It's a classy hotel that holds true to its Alaskan roots. I believe President Obama stayed here recently and I know many other 'celebrities' have as well. It's one of the nicest, well-maintained, and unique hotels in Anchorage and it's located in the center of all of Anchorage's hot spots. I'd give it '4.5' (rounded up to 5 for the sake of Yelp's rating system) because it isn't 'exceptional and 5 star quality' compared to other places around the world, but it's certainly one of the best that Alaska has to offer. read more

This place is awful! They fail on their customer service. Rooms are sub par if you are well travelled. All I wanted was a bottle of water...they send me to the gift shop as they said it was still open. I go to the gift shop and it is closed. I go to the front desk and told them that the operators gave me incorrect information and the front desk was unapologetic and said I can go down the street for it. I reply back that it is odd that they are a hotel and do not have any kind of bottled water available to their guest. Another person steps in with huge ATTITUDE and said we only have short cups for water with a very unapologetic way. I say again that it is crazy they wouldn't have bottled water for guest. SHe says with shaking head attitude...you want me to go across the street and get you water? Its all in how you say it and she said it with plenty of non smiling, non caring attitude. I told her she had an attitude and she literally said she didn't and walked away from me. I call the operator back to let them know they were wrong in the gift shop hours and the operator replies..well thats what it says in our sheet. I said wow...you guys dont like to apologize. Seriously....am I crazy to think that I cant even get bottled water from a vending machine at a hotel? I am 6 months pregnant and am not walking down the street late at night for water in a place I don't know. Motel 8 even has vending machines? What gives.... Never again will I stay here. read more

Admittedly just a two night stay for business. BUT The Captain Cook is the ONLY 'real' hotel in Anchorage, let alone Alaska (from what I can garner). We were pleased, hopefully you will be as well. Fletchers is a cornerstone, within the lobby area. Perfect for appetizers and local fare - great IPAs - great fish entres! Most rooms, from what we were told are updated with flat screens, mini bars, wifi and bathroom amenities. We had a Captain's Deck room (2 male adults)......did us well. A great view of the city skyline, comfortable beds, smallish bathroom (but we could both shave and shower at the same time, without a problem). Fantastic that this property has a pool, steam, sauna. AND we were afforded a late check out (2:00 pm) to finish our meetings and get to our return flight at AKC. Anchorage: continue to be proud of The Captain Cook, we certainly enjoyed it. read more

Have stayed here thrice over the past 10d - HCC was rec to us by our tour guide as the nicest place to stay in Anchorage, and as Team N can be fussy, we ended up here. I understand that AK totally embraces the whole "we're not the lower 48" thing, and I appreciate its quirks and charms....but this is kind of an odd place to be the creme de la creme...The decor is reminiscent of both the Hotel Polynesian at Disney World and what I imagine a nondescript hotel from 1980 would look like - lots of brown and weird textures mixed w tiki stuff and pics of natives - but the rooms are clean, and if you get a suite, it will be huge - very ample sitting space and gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. If you're picky abt shampoo/condit/soap bring your own - it's that Gilchrist and Soames stuff that is unimpressive. Nevertheless, the place is redeemed by free wifi and close proximity to the tasty restos in town. The hotel as a whole is fairly quiet, though many of the cruise ships departing from Anchorage tell their passengers to stay here, so on cruise mornings, it's total mayhem - the lobby is packed w doughy tourists in American flag apparel and sun visors (terrible person). As a result, expect to wait a while to at breakie at the resto in the lobby bc they simply aren't staffed to accommodate this (the food is pretty okay there - fine oatmeal, decent egg white omelettes, fruit plates - friendly but slow/spacey service). Skip the scene here and go to Snow City for AM nosh - strong coffee, great food. Oh, there are two other food options - Fletcher's and Crow's Nest - Fletchers is very casual (entrees of pasta, pizza, some fish, but nothing fancy) and the decor looks like the old Oak Room in Boston - dark, clean but somehow feels dingy - CN is fancier - entrees run $35+ - it's a more formal experience - great views of the city but you can get better food for less $ outside of the hotel. The real negative is that unlike other hotels that claim to be the best in a certain area, the casual feel of AK means that the service here is very well meaning but ineffective. If you need anything while you're staying there, under NO circumstance should you ask Brian, the head concierge, to do anything remotely resembling a task that someone w his title should perform. As we have no sense of AK, we needed help figuring out how to get from Homer to Whittier - he prefaced the convo by saying that what we wanted to do couldn't be done and that he didn't think it was worth it to help us....ummmm okay.....he's the head concierge...I kind of thought that this sort of stuff was his job, so I persisted in asking his advice - He continued to shirk responsibilities and rather than make a game plan w us, he ignored messages and then told us that car rental places didn't exist in either locale and that he wouldn't help us. Thank God for Google/Yelp, bc in fact, car rental places do exist in those locations so I called back to ask his opinion abt whether or our plan was reasonable - fortunately, Zoe, another concierge who is LOVELY, picked up and was so wonderful - she booked the tour we wanted and confirmed that my plan to drive wasn't crazy. Seek her out - she works hard and is extremely competent. Also, Bri, hey bro, it's service 101 not to ever talk to guests like that. Overall, it's a completely innocuous place to stay - clean, comfy beds, nicely sized rooms, close-ish to ANC (roughly $20 cab ride), and perfectly located right downtown. I would definitely stay here if you're going to hit it and quit it - read, use it as a launching pad to go deeper into AK, not as home base or the final destination for your honeymoon. read more

I love the Cook. It has that old, luxurious feeling about it. Yes, it isn't as up to date as some other hotels, but they're remodeling so I'm sure that'll come with time. I'd been here many times (usually to visit friends who worked here), but only stayed a few. We decided to have our wedding here and they were so helpful! They planned our ballrooms next to each other so it was easy to move from ceremony to reception (we had some older guests where movement may have been an issue). The staff was always polite and courteous. The food is phenomenal. Always. The Crow's Nest is famous for a reason--it really is that good. Our guests had nothing but rave reviews for all our food provided. I, unfortunately, missed out on the hor d'erves (stupid pictures), but I also heard they were delicious. Our suite that we stayed in was amazing. My in-laws went all out and got us one of those penthouse places (yes, we needed a key for the elevator to even get to our floor---very cool!) with a great view of the city. Granted, since the tower is right by the water, I'm assuming all the views are great. The bed was comfy, the shower had great water pressure, and everything was immaculate. If you're travel ling and want to splurge, or if you have guests who like to live well, this is the hotel to stay at. All the celebrities who visit Anchorage (i.e. the governor of Cali, the big man himself) stay here as well. Parking can be a pain, but it is well worth it. Plus, it is right next to Snow City Cafe--it doesn't get much better than that. read more

Supposedly amazing. Thought this would be a great get away for a weekend escape. Not in reality. Our room was okay. Yes, furnishings were a bit outdated. The room was uncomfortably HOT, could not get it below 76 with the fan on "cool high" and even resorted to sleeping with the window open in hopes of it cooling down as the night temps dropped outside. Be warned, if you're sleeping with the window open, even if you're on the 9th floor the street noise is so loud it's as if you are right on the street. Sirens, loud talking bar & restaurant patrons at all hours. Had a delicious dinner at the Crow's Nest (that will be it's own review) and I think that is the only way I'd go back to this hotel. Definitely would not choose to stay here overnight again. My husband went to the pool and said it was the dirtiest outdated thing he'd ever seen. We've had a better stay at the Hampton Inn across town and obviously for cheaper! Hotel staff was friendly and did apologize for the temperature but still not somewhere I'd stay again. read more

The hotel is a perfect resort getaway in the heart of the city. The quintessential Alaskan kitsch mixed with impeccable service and quality will leave you wanting more. And more you shall have! The workout facilities are awesome. The pool is large enough to swim laps. Lap swimming. At a hotel. In Alaska. You will not regret paying the extra cost to skip the Hiltoz or Marrioz. When this hotel was built, it was built to last. There's something quite whimsical about the space and as another yelper commented, it's like being in the belly of a ship. The hotel was optimistically built the year after the 1964 earthquake. I absolutely admire the attention to detail throughout the space. I have only stayed at the cap'n cook once and also attended many events/eaten at the restaurants and meeting spaces. I found the room to be on the smaller side (at least the rooms in the larger tower), but it was elegantly appointed, clean, yet slightly sparse as well. I have had the opportunity to tour the presidential suites and although the space and views are ample, I found the furniture and decor to be very dated and I found this pretty shocking. I would love the opportunity to get in there and do some interior design!! My firm used the top floor gallery in the shorter tower for our post holiday party and the space was really fun. With lower ceilings and exposed wood beams, brass trimmings/fixtures, it really did carry theme with the rest of the hotel (though the lobby and meeting spaces have much taller ceilings). The staff and food were on point. All attended events here have been fantastic here (feels like a treat!). The staff is attentive and never overbearing. The food is always replenished quickly, is wonderfully presented and delicious. I love getting a cup of coffee at cubby's and just walking around a little bit before heading back to work - the space sort of re energizes me and its fun to guess the origins of those walking past me. This is a classy hotel that I would recommend to any out of town guest. read more

I LOVE THE HOTEL CAPTAIN COOK. I came here for the Alaska Marine Science Symposium, and I've stayed at it before while touring. Free wifi, lots of channels on the tv and a fridge. My room was clean and neat, I love the bathrooms - the shower seems super ginormous because of the curved shower bar. The downstairs lobby area has a very classy feel to it, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel is also located right in the heart of downtown, within walking distance to tons of great restaurants, bars and shopping. I wish I could afford to stay here every time I visited Anchorage. read more

Overall a nice hotel and room, average for the price I would say, but nothing exceptional at all. The epic failure lays in the customer service. After waiting 3 hours for our luggage, we called the front desk, and instead of any compassion, we got an attitude. After a long trip, we wanted to be able to shower, change, and maybe even charge up the laptop and phone. Furthermore, the gym/ pool /fitness center is an extra $10 on top of the 100+ for a room. That just seems ridiculous, I pay double their daily fee for an entire month back home. Here I sit close to four hours after checking in and our luggage was dropped off nearly seven hours ago, (we just couldn't check in yet) and still have no luggage. Also the view from our room is terrible, which is pretty hard to do considering how many great views there are around here. I may be back to Anchorage, but not going to be sailing with Captain Cook unless I get marooned and there's no homeless shelters open. read more

Where do I begin... We we're told that the hotel had a pool, hot tub, and spa. This was mentioned over the phone 2 days before booking the room. Upon arriving we discover that the pool is closed and many of the amenities are not available because of the Mayor (we weren't told that) and the hot tub was absolutely disgusting. Piss yellow tile lining a tub with dirt and sand inside and out. Not to mention a snotty punk at the pool entrance. The restaurant was not bad, but not good... Our order included two special requests due to allergies. We clearly heard the server tell the chef(?). It was sent out covered with the ingredients we specifically asked to be left off. We politely told the server of the error and he graciously took the plate back to kitchen where we could hear the cook loudly complain about the request. He did remake the dish. But he still only honored one of the requests. We didn't mention anything again to avoid him throwing another tantrum and ruining the night for other diners. However, our server Christopher was a delight and a wonderful server. The valets were excellent, as well. 0.1 outta 10. Thank God for Christopher. Oh, and a dude out front asked to bum a needle *EDIT* It is now the next morning. We were treated all night to sounds of construction equipment, power washers, and leaf blowers at the property across the street, The Voyager Inn. Also a Hotel Captain Cook property. This has been quite the disappointment and is our last night staying here. Absolutely ridiiiiiculous. read more

While this hotel might not be in the running for best hotel in the lower 48, it is by far and away the best hotel you're going to find in AK. I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 day stay at the CC & would happily recommend it to anyone who asked. The front desk was nice and helpful, the concierges were very helpful, and the cleaning services were excellent. The breakfast at the lobby restaurant was fairly tasty, albeit a bit on the expensive side. But hey, if you only brought one pair of jeans and those got covered in fish blood, then NOT-going to freeze your hiney off looking for breakfast is worth the added $. 100% recommend. read more

could've been a lot better. the bellhop was very helpful, the front desk? nope. when I called to reserve the rooms I wanted, their front desk made a mistake (unbeknownst to me). when I came to check in and told them it was a mistake, they disregarded me and tossed me to the night manager. the conversation of the room situation ended with him telling my wife that he was confident that his people did not make a mistake.... apparently, they're not capable of making mistakes. we frequented captain cook for staycations, but now I wont stay there in the future, this experience could've been better. i also know, that my family not coming there won't mean anything to them. just like the namesake, they don't care much for locals. read more

I can only speak for the hotel itself as we did not eat at the hotel but stayed there for two nights at the tail end of our Alaskan cruise and land tour. The hotel Captain Cook was selected by princess cruise lines as our last stop in Anchorage Alaska. The hotel was beautiful with gorgeous woodwork and beautiful finishes. Our room was amazing extremely clean and luxurious. There were a lot of beautiful gift shops and the location was perfect to walk to some of the local breweries and restaurants. Also very close to the Knowles Trail. My only disappointment was the workout center. It was a little crowded and dated. read more

Hotel a bit outdated... sort of had a spooky feel to it.. can't explain it! Some may think the old feeling is part of its charm. I think it could use an update. Fitness center is basement level..that felt in need of an update too. Delicious breakfasts....with reindeer sausage I think it was! Convenient location. read more

Prime location. This hotel is stuck in the 70s in lobby and exterior decor. They have made updates to the rooms and they are nice. I was able to walk every where I needed to go, which was helpful since parking is expensive ($25/day for the lot south of the entrance). My room was quiet, had a mini fridge, and WiFi. I loved the view from my room. I can't really think of anything that I need that was not provided. The only odd thing was the day I was leaving. I left my luggage with a courteous bell hop and he took it to a room for safe-keeping. Upon returning in the afternoon, I asked to pick up one of my bags and drop off another bag with all my work stuff in it. This bell hop took me into the luggage room with everybody's stuff. As soon as I found my bag, he said "Make sure you close the door all the way when you're done" and walked out. This freaked me out because I had some expensive electronics sitting in there all day. If I wanted to, I could have dug into anybody's bag and stolen stuff or just left the door open for anybody to come in. Bad policy. read more

Our room was right next to the elevator, which made a terrible noise 24/7. If you're going to charge 250 a night , perhaps you could do something about that. The actual hotel is nice enough. Service is good, and it has a lot of dining and shopping available. The beds were really low to the ground, which took some getting used to. They weren't uncomfortable, so I can't complain about them. My main concern was the noise. read more

I managed to get a hotel room here right around June 21st, which about the worst day to book any trip up here -- it was expensive. I didn't care, the company was paying for it. It's got that whole Captain Cook, I'm an English sailor theme going. Whatever, I'm not into the Village People look. Lots of dark colors, lots of goofy ship models, lots of stripes. I like my hotels clean, slick, hip. Think black turtlenecks. But as hotels go, once you get by the whole Disneyana Pirates of the Caribbean feel, it's not a bad place to stay. There's a small gift shop downstairs with enough stuff to get you through the week. There's a restaurant worthy enough to have breakfast in, and the restaurant at the top (I think it's called the Crow's Nest, all I know is I expensed it), was a nice view and break from the week. Was it the W? Nah. But, comon, it's ANCHORAGE. I'd stay here again. Somehow expecting a five star experience is bit over the top here. read more

Best hotel in Alaska. I had a corner room with a great view of the city and ocean. Room was comfortable and clean, furnishings were up-dated with a flat screen tv. I will stay here again....Service was outstanding!!!! The presidential suite is huge with two rooms, living room and dinng room!! read more
