Monday's are $5 mojitos and I didn't expect them to be so strong. The decor was really nice and the servers were friendly. I had a mushroom and Swiss burger on a gluten free bun. The receipt shows the wrong time first of all. We literally just came from there and the picture of the receipt is time stamped at 7:23. Inspite of the two very oblivious bartenders who would not pay us any mind and who we had to pretty much hail over for attention, or drinks or plates or hot sauce (the whole teaspoon of it we recieved) and to pay the bill... we still tipped very well because being as we work for the service industry, we would never want anyone to be treated like this. There were 8 people at the bar between two bartenders... and the food wasn't hot. It's amazing the difference between this branch and the Ramsey branch. We've always had a great experience there. Manager called and told me I'll be receiving a gift card in the mail and never received one. Great American restaurant with a huge menu selection. I visited this restaurant after coming back stateside from Colombia and wasn't disappointed with the Chipotle chicken sandwich ( honey cumin marinated chicken breast, chipotle mayo, guacamole, tortilla strips, shredded lettuce, tomato and toasted bun). The flavor was amazing and the chicken was grilled to perfection. I did order an appetizer ( the classic organic spinach dip with cheesy lavosh) and wasn't a huge fan but feel that the dish just wasn't for me. The party I was with, raved about how great it was. The service here couldn't have been better with quick drink refills and the constant checking on our table was much appreciated. I actually like this chain restaurant. The ahi salad is my go to I have been getting for years. I used to enjoy their happy hours too (pre kids.) now I enjoy lunch here every now and then. My group of 4 was seated and as we are looking over the menu and chatting, we're receiving dirty looks from one server in particular who keeps walking back and forth past our table. We stop her and kindly ask her about a menu item, she rudely snapped back and laughed at us. By this time our waiter come over to take our order. After we placed our order we heard that same waitress talking to our waiter and another individual who looked like a manager maybe and was talking clearly about us and giving us dirty looks. She keeps walking past us and continuing to give us dirty looks. We've been waiting for our food for about 40 minutes. Mind you it is 9:30 pm there's no other tables seated in our section. I got the rosemary grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. The chicken was amazing and seasoned and so were the mashed potatoes. The veggies could have been more seasoned...just tasted bland and boiled. My dad and I also got the Houlihan's famous shroom. It was super good and tasty with cream cheese inside of it. The service could have been more consistent. Other than that, food was pretty good and staffs were friendly. Houlihans we visited on route 4 in Paramus was disappointing, first you get the feeling the location needed a renovation along time ago. I picked up the menu, and it was filthy, they need to be replaced. The restaurant just didn't feel clean. The food was so so I had the short rib lasagna, dried out. They have happy hour specials on food and drinks, so ask the staff and they are more than willing to help out. Plenty of parking located in a shopping center lot. Open later than you think, just ask. My visit was on a Sunday at around 1:15p. There was not that much of a crowd, however it was very noisy. Initially it was the servers making the most noise talking with one another about sports and listening to their cell phones. Then after a while it was the table next to us making all the noise looking for hotel rooms with someone on their phone on speaker. The ignoring part was the manager was sitting at the bar hearing all of this and never asked the woman to lower her conversation or to take her conversation off speaker phone. But I guess this is the expectation for a bar area. It just was very difficult to hear the person I was eating with (annoying AF). The food: Buffalo Chicken salad and buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were very good minus the breadstick which was hard as a rock and tasteless. Our appetizer, the Spinach and artichoke flatbread( not pictured) was good as well. We were taking to our table the second we walk in not really anyone in the place we place our order and waited 1 hours for our food we kinda extract that when the place is pack but no one was there beside for a few ppl at the bar area while we waited I could see 2 or 3 gentleman preparing the food with no gloves or without washing they're hands and as they prepare the food they begin to eat out of it my mind was in shock never have I seen a place to be so unorganized and dirty why are the waiters fixing the food in the first place stay away from this place my wife order a parmesan chicken took one bite and gave it back said it was hard as a rock and didn't taste good read more

The food was pretty good. I usually get a buffalo chicken sandwich, which is absolutely delicious. there service however is very slow. Our server Gerard, charged me $20 on top of my bill. 2 separate charges. I called to find out what the charge was because I always tip in cash. The manager said he would get back to me, but it has been over a week since this. I only had a party of 3, and we were there well before they closed. The batter was mushy, greasy and cold. We had it a few times prior to this and it has always been pretty good. We both ordered Chicken Picatta. AWFUL. One little piece of chicken. The sauce just tasted like you were eating pure salt. They didn't ask what vegetable we wanted. It came out with something I think was supposed to rice and broccoli. Maybe? It white mush with something green it. Not a pleasant experience. There are plenty of places to go to eat. This one has been scratched from our list. Never wrote a review before. This location of Houlihan's is not one of the better ones. I went here because it was central to the 5 different towns where my friends and I live. It's loud and busy and little attention is paid to details. My menu was dirty and that gave me a bad impression. The waiter was friendly but had too many tables. The reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the food was good. The atmosphere, service and cleanliness were sub par. My friends and I ordered a few appetizers and we ate all of them (dumplings, an artichoke dip and fried calamari). My meal was broiled scallops over risotto and it was delicious. The downer was that the dirty plates from the meal were never taken away and I had to look at them for the rest of the night. I would only go here with this particular group of friends because they don't care too much about ambience. We are really only out to see each other and get together. Applebees, Millers, and other sportsbar-type places in the area can get a bit crowded and loud, but this place was pretty calm the times I went there. Haven't yet had an entree that I liked, but they have two apps that are killer: nachos and spinach and artichoke dip.
