I have to say, I am very impressed. Place is setup really cool and has an outdoor section which is nice in this weather that we've been having. Service was really fast, food came really fast, came to check up on us multiple times. Just good service. I had the buffalo blue salad with French onion soup. The soup was great, little hard to eat the cheese but overall really tasty. The buffalo blue salad was even better, the chicken was so good and went well with everything else on the plate. The salad came with bread which I thought was weird cause there was no butter or any sauce to use with it but I tried it anyway. It was really doughy and had some kind of seasoning on the top. It was really really good and you don't need butter or anything with it. Ending up eating the whole piece. This is the second time I have been here. Both experiences were exactly the same... The bartender took my order then no one checked in to se if it was ok. I measured over 18 minutes on each occasion. One occasion I was starved and polished off cold chicken fingers. The other occasion I had very cold French fries and just left them uneaten. Either occasion there was zero interaction between the bartender and myself other than taking my initial order. This was followed by 20 minutes alter a pathetic attempt to ask if everything was ok. Where do i begin. I dined in on friday evening ( and it wasnt even busy, because it was memorial day weekend) i had mentioned to the server we were celebrating 2 birthdays that night.. . . . And This was probably the most disappointing time at a dinner restaurant. First of all the server, christian, took a while to greet us. He lacked professionalism. Took a while to bring our drinks. (we were a party of 8) but we just ordered sodas. I am a manager at a restaurant and our servers never take this long to bring drinks to a table. Im talking about like 7 to 8 minutes. Which seems forever since we are just sitting down full of thirst. He didnt even suggest if we were ready to place our appetizer order. He just left after he brought our drinks and took another 10 minutes to return to our table and ask for our order. Our appetizer arrived like 15 minutes later! ! ! Appetizers arent supposed to take that longggg! ! ! ! And our entrees took even longer. And on top of that the food was cold! He never came back to ask how our food was. Technically youre supposed to wait 2 minutes/ 2 bites to check back on your table. He waited like 12 minutes to ask how everything was. At this point i was so disappointed i didnt even bother to complain. I asked for boxes and he took long to get those too. Now i dont know of he had many tables. But honestly the restaurant wasnt busy. We werent even complicated people. After we requested the check. He just said very loudly "ill just bring out the two desserts". I knew he wasnt going to sing happy birthday at that point. And efectively. He DIDNT! He just brought out the desserts and said happy birthday all lonely. So we sang happy birthday to my friend and my sister. I really was looking forward to surprising themon their birthday and honestly i was highly disappointed. It's really not that bad. The food was good the service was okay. A few extra beers mysteriously appeared on our bill but it was taken care of immediately. They need more lighting on the patio for the tables that are outside of the lights that line the outside of the patio but overall it's not that bad. I would recommend them. I had a long day today in the city and I was really excited about ordering food to go and eating my Kansas City Cheeseburger in my hotel. I asked for my burger MEDIUM with REGULAR FRIES and extra ranch on the side. I received a MEDIUM WELL BURGER with SWEET POTATO fries. I told them about it and they took it back to fix it. It came back WELL DONE with a spot of bbq sauce and BARELY WARM fries. That burger was super dry, and I also never received ranch. By that point I was just ready to leave because it was late, I was hungry, I was extremely irritated, and the rest of my parties food was getting cold waiting for so long for the bad remake. My family members received wings with blue cheese dressing and they specifically asked for ranch ONLY. I was highly unsatisfied with this zero pink burger. Ok so i Love Love Houlihans! I have been to multiple locations and i just love their food. Its delicious and very very reasonable for their quality and quantity. The most frequented locations for me are the ones near work (Edison) and near home (Weehawken). The ambiance is always lively and bright and its always crowded during happy hour. Their HH is 4p-2a Mon to Fri so you can imagine why the crowds. There is a mix of just groups hanging out, families with kids and colleagues from work so its all kind of people. I think its great value for money so then why did I give this spot 2 stars? The food as always was on point. We had the Veggie Fajitas and the Flatbread of the Day (Artichoke and Spinach Flatbread) which is my most favorite thing in the world. We generally also always order the Bruschetta and the Mushroom Arugula Flatbread. Both are amazing. Other things on the menu to try are the Lettuce wraps and the Veggie Sandwich. Ok so now onto the part why this particular location gets 2 stars. The service at this place was soo slow and just not what i am used to. Once we seated ourselves near the bar (that is self seating), we had to get the attention of the servers multiple times before someone came to our table. I mean atleast start us on the drinks, right? Its a Friday evening and we understand its packed, but i think when the crowd increases, you need your A-game. Our server was just chatting away and was a bit too slow. The Secaucus location used to be the highest revenue generating location in the country. Not any more. I've put a HUGE X on Houlihans. My sister and I ordered the lettuce wraps starter. They were so greasy it was like eating mystery meat drenched in oil sludge. Then we split chicken/beef fajitas. They used to be the best of any restaurant, ever. No more. Two ounces of chicken, two ounces of unchewable beef grizzle and lots of onions. I guess onions are cheap these days. And, the fajitas were priced around $16.99. The quality of the food has decreased immensely and everything is so overloaded with sauce and oil; there's no wonder that everyone that eats there is OBESE and I'm not kidding. I had dinner at Houlihan's with my family. We were a party of 10. Our server was friendly, but not very present or efficient. We went long periods without seeing her and often when she did stop by, ran off before we could finish our requests. We shared the nachos and calamari for appetizers. Both were ok. I had an espresso martini. It's a mystery as to how this drink was weak, give. That the ingredients are almost 100% booze.I had the buffalo bleu salad, my husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich and my son had the grilled cheese for dinner. My salad and my husbands sandwich were pretty good. The fries were not. My son's grilled cheese was a joke. The waitress offered to put his meal in with the apps so that he didn't have to wait long. For some reason, it didn't come out until 20 minutes after the apps. And when it did come out, the cheese wasn't even melted. There is no excuse for this. A grilled cheese should be hard to mess up, but that messed it up thoroughly. Needless to say, we should have known better in expecting a good meal at a chain restaurant. read more

Houlihans is one of my favorite places to go for both drinks and food. Their new menu items (the melty cheesy cheeseburger and grapefruit ketel drink) were to die for. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is the temperature inside the restaurant. I don't know if their air conditioner is not working but it felt uncomfortable to sit inside for so long. The nachos were pretty good, but a bit of queso along with the melted cheese would have made them great. My co-worker had the Reuben that he liked, and I had the turkey burger. My turkey burger was good, but wished it was a hand-formed patty. I think that would have done a lot for the appearance and the taste. Great place for bar food and drinks before watching a movie at the theater across the parking lot This place does get kind of packed on the weekends, especially for dinner. Has a good selection of beers and a full bar for cocktails. My daughter ordered a plate of nachos wow do they gave you a lot. Me and my son ordered burgers and my turkey burger was amazing. Food was good. I remember Houilhan's as a child and absolutely loving it. We decided to try it given my positive memories. The decor is exactly the same. It looks like a bar from the TV show Cheers. Firstly, the server was extremely slow and not very helpful. My husband got a caesar salad and soup. The salad didnt look that fresh. However, the onion soup seemed OK. We started with buffalo wings which were flavorful, but not overwhelmingly spicy hot--just right! My main course was an item called Navajo Chicken Pasta, unique and quite good largely because it was so flavorful. The large portion of this tasty meal was accompanied by a wonderfully flavorful dinner roll, also made with herbs and spices and unlike any roll I had ever had before. As good as the main course was, the roll was even better. Scallops served over risotto made up my wife's main course, also a large portion, and even better than my selection. I had the Limbo IPA our server recommended and I recommend it, too. The dessert also came in a large portion, a Crunch Pie, and perfectly topped off a very good meal. With lots (and I mean LOTS) of other restaurants surrounding Houlihan's, we had many choices, but this is certainly a very excellent choice. read more
