My dinner came out cold, sent it back only to have it retuned two minutes later (fresh from the microwave). I can't imagine this is not a health code violation. Ask for a water that never came to the table until I requested it again, this was well after I had finished my dinner. The place is dirty!!! Everything needs to be cleaned (carpet very dirty, walls are dirty, and the woodwork in-between the booths has not been dusted in moths. The draft beer system is not working. We ordered chips and salsa and a glass of wine before our meal. After taking that part of our order our server informed us she just got a large group to serve. When the chips arrived I had to ask for my wine order. The chips were rancid tasting, and our server didn't come back for a long time. When she returned we told her and she didn't really respond. We have been dining at this particular Houlihan's since it opened and it went from one of our favorite go-to restaurants for our family to 'never visit again' due to the erosion of quality of the food. We hadn't been in sometime, but wanted to give it another shot last night. Big mistake. (We should have went somewhere else when we saw the dining room only 40% filled at 6:00 on a Sunday and it still took our server several minutes to greet us). My wife ordered chicken piccata and I ordered the chicken tenders. (I chose the chicken tenders with the mindset that they would give me the best shot of a decent meal, but it wasn't meant to be.) Both meals were inedible. We couldn't shake the feeling that the food had been reheated in a microwave and not prepared fresh. (The meals came out after a very short wait, but both were barely above room temperature). The chicken tenders were lukewarm, tough, very dry and the breading was extremely thin and tasteless. My wife's chicken filet was of equal 'quality' and taste. Freshly fried chicken should never come out like this. My french fries also didn't taste freshly prepared, but rather reheated. The manager was very polite and wanted to make things right when he visited our table (we NEVER complain about our food when we go out to eat, but last night was the kicker), but this wasn't on him. I worked in the food service industry for years and I would hate to have to defend this product. I've witnessed other chain restaurants skimping on quality ingredients with the hope that the dining public doesn't notice (they always do..) I couldn't help but wonder if the senior management of the Houlihan's chain ever eats their own food and if they HONESTLY think the food is tasty and of good quality? read more

I went with a group of 5 people at around 6:45 on a Thursday and there was no wait to be seated. We did wait around 15 minutes for a server to come to the table but assuming they were short staffed. I ordered the pot roast for my dinner and got a side of mac & cheese. The roast was served over mashed potatoes with garlic green beans. I recommend this entree and thought the Mac & cheese was really good too. It had a lot of flavor and the meat was tender and juicy. Someone else at the table ordered the chicken parmesan and really enjoyed it and said he would order it again. read more

It might just have been a bad day or a bad time to go to Houlihan's: 2:30 on a Saturday is a funny in-between time in the restaurant world. Before we get to food and service, I want to note that the tables, floors, and restrooms need cleaning and fixing. There was no soap in the dispensers in the restrooms, and the replacement in the women's was obviously diluted and nearly empty. The table we were at was so sticky a coaster stuck to the top, and as I was getting out, my foot slipped on an errant something on the base of the table. They were obviously understaffed, even for the relatively empty state of the restaurant: our server was also tending the bar and running the host station. They did their best, but little things were missed. Like asking if we wanted apps when they brought our drinks. Or communicating when the kitchen had to re-cook a burger because it was cooked wrong the first time. Or sending out cold fries with the recooked burger. The food was decent, but that's not enough to make up for the other issues. Overall, would not recommend. Our server was good, but management did not back them up as management should. The impossible burger was juicy with a nice amount of lettece, red onion (I added) and their special sauce plus a slice of cheddar. I wish I had added pickles. Hubs had the French dip. Large quantity of thin sliced roast beef, horse reddish on the side and au jus for dipping. It was a large portion but nothing special. We both ordered a side of fries. They were good but not amazing. We were the only ones in the dining room but the patio had several groups Service was friendly and kept up with drink refills. This was better than I expected. Looking for a place nearby, this popped up, and Sweetie thought she remembered liking their spinach dip at another location. It is a lot newer, and fancier, than I expected from what I assumed would be an old-school bar and restaurant. Very, very good service from beginning to end, and kid-friendly (though it is not a "family restaurant"- but with a well-behaved kid things worked out.) Lots of interesting stuff on the menu. We both ended up going with the prix fixe offerings. She got the spinach dip to start, and it was indeed what she remembered, and very good. We all liked it. Served with good tortilla chips. Her main course was a chicken sandwich with bacon, etc. I didn't try it; she loved it, and was barely able to eat half of it. So, she took it and the dessert (some kind of brownie) home. Good deal on good food. I got the wings. They were out of their creamy jalapeno (I think,) so I got the Thai spice. More of a sesame glaze, barely spicy, but very good. Small portion of fairly small wings, but tasty, cooked crisp, and with that good sauce. Next I had the chicken salad (salad with chicken, not minced up chicken...) Fried (or grilled) chicken, and plenty of it, on a very good green salad with tomatoes, cheese, red pepper, bacon, pecans. Also had a very good roll on the side. For dessert I had the mini creme brulee trio: maybe coffee, vanilla, and strawberry rhubarb. I was full beforehand, but they were pretty small and very good. I got the ahi tuna (full serving not a mini appetizer) the scallops and risotto and then cheesecake. Everything was so amazing i can't wait to go back. Nice atmosphere, great patio, friendly service have been consistent throughout the years at Houlihan's. The quality of the food seems to have taken a dive in the past few years though. We had one mediocre experience during the pandemic with their food to-go, but I thought it was due to the food not being as fresh when we ate them back at home. We tried dine-in again and it still didn't wow us. It wasn't bad, but the quality just doesn't measure up to the price they charge. For example, they charge $17+ for their fish & chips. But unlike other restaurants in their price range, their fish & chips definitely does not use the more premium codfish. Based on the soft, mushy texture of the fish, I'm guessing they use either haddock or pollock, both much cheaper fish. Their menu says they use "Atlantic Whitefish" but that must be just a general term they're using, because the true Atlantic Whitefish species is a critically endangered freshwater fish related to salmons that only lives in 3 lakes in Nova Scotia. I doubt they're serving a critically endangered fish for $17 a filet haha. read more

We came in on Easter Sunday. We had a wonderful experience since the minute we left the car. Very nice older lady greeted us . The young man seated us. We started with a bottle of white wine and we had the pot sticker appetizer and the spinach dip. That came very quickly because I don't think it was very busy. Excellent waitress and then we continued to eat and eat!! Grandma had the fish and chips. I shared the garden salad which was delicious and then onto the Mahi Tacos and the kids had a burger that was so large we had to take half and half home. Everything was delicious and lightly cooked. Hadn't been here in several years so decided to swing on through as we liked it back in the day. It was a great Saint Patrick's day outside yet their patio was closed because manager said they just laid some mulch. I ordered a green beer but they didn't have any dye. They also didn't have any cabbage ready and they were out of horseradish for their sauce that's supposed to go with the sweet potato fries. Now you'd think with all these things gone awry upon arrival that this spot would deserve one star but this is totally not the case. All the things they didn't have weren't necessities or deal breakers and what we ordered instead were SPOT ON. The tiki drink and beer was strong and powerful. The wings were crispy, plump, and flavorful. The sweet potato fries and regular fries were crispy with the right amount of seasoning. The burger, although it looked like a frozen patty, was grilled to perfection at a medium with a bun, cheese, and toppings to die for. The fish and chips has to be ONE OF THE BEST IN THE STATE! The firecracker shrimp was delectable, and the brownie batter cake was scrumptious. I wanted to slam this place but the food was SO DELICIOUS I couldn't. Hit up Houlihans, you won't be disappointed and hopefully the things they were out of is back in stock and their patio is back open. read more

Great service. mediocre food. We both got the three course meal. Potato soup, fish and chips shrimp pasta and cheesecake. All were beyond mediocre. That said, I love the location and there's a nice atmosphere. There is one thing on the menu that is totally worth it and few do it better... the chicken nachos'. So good. Next time . I have been a loyal customer of this Houlihan location for several years. I recently came to dine here after not dining here since before the covid pandemic. My favorite dish is your signature shrooms which I was excited to eat again after not having them for so long, however, I sorely disappointed when this dish came out to the table. The signature shrooms were over cooked, burnt, and tasteless. I traveled an hour to come to Houlihan's and I will not be traveling again to this location. While the food was not good, the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. I wish we would have had a better experience with the food. read more

Houlihans has been a staple of the community here for nearly a decade and I've been visiting since the very beginning. All restaurants have ups and downs but Houlihans certainly seems to have more ups than downs. The tuna appetizer is my current favorite and I usually follow that up with a burger or a steak. There don't seem to be any bad choices on the menu here. The service is always friendly and attentive. We like Michelle the best of the current servers. She's the nicest person ever! Corporate management has allowed the effects of COVID to give this once great meeting place a slow painful death. A revolving door of untrained and uncaring staff has resulted in the worst service in the industry. One of the best happy hours in the city has been reduced to a very few select hours. This was our first time here; I had signed up online for a free birthday entree so we came on Saturday night. We asked to be seated on the patio and they obliged. We had a lovely server who was very pleasant and sweet. They have the drinks menu already on the table. We were given both the dinner menu and the specials menu. Both were impressive. I chose the Spiralized Thai 'Noodle' Salad with grilled salmon, for $16.95 (my birthday entree was up to $15). It was wonderful, with peanut sauce, and the salmon was grilled perfectly. My husband had the sirloin, with mashed potatoes and green beans. He also added a side salad. He enjoyed everything. From what we saw of the dining room, it was pretty and seemed more upscale than I thought it would be. We were dressed in jeans, but not sloppy. There were patrons on the patio wearing shorts and flip flops. We saw a few people arriving to pick up carryout orders. They do a good business. We will be back. Great food. read more
