This was my first time to this location of Tupelo Honey. I had been to the original in Asheville, NC, but even then, it had been quite some time. The atmosphere was modern with a southern twist. I'm not going to lie, I chuckled a bit when I noticed my water glass said "Bless Your Heart". In Appalachian culture, this is actually an insult. We had a large group, but the service was excellent. Very friendly, attentive, and everything was brought out timely and correctly. My food was really good! It was brunch time so I had coffee, the "Mimosa of the Moment" which was an apple cinnamon, a biscuit with blueberry preserves, and the Southern Shakshouka. I came for dinner last night in order to use a discount given to us at a recent Yelp Elite event. They were not busy (Tuesday 5:30ish) so I got my requested table by the windows since it was still sunny. My server was great. The place is really lovely and I like there is now a parking garage just steps away. I started with a specialty sip cocktail - an Orange Cinnamon Bun Old Fashioned, and ordered 3 apps since they were half-priced for happy hour. The Biscuits for a Cause (2 with butter, jam and honey), Fried Pickles (chips with ranch), and Famous Fried Green Tomatoes (I don't normally like goat cheese, but these are served with stone-ground goat cheese grits) were all fabulous and I had plenty to take home after trying all. I had a glass of red blend wine with my entree, which was the Pan-Seared Salmon. My two chosen sides were the mashed potatoes and fried okra. The salmon was perfectly cooked; it was a great dish. We decided to try Tupelo's because of Restaurant Week July 2026. We unfortunately couldn't order off the restaurant week menu because they only offered it for dinner and we came for lunch. But they had an offer of 2 for $22. My husband got the smash burger (two patties with the fixings on a potato roll) with Mac and cheese. I originally wanted the pulled pork. Unfortunately their distributor was unable to provide it. Kristen, more about her in a second, was so apologitic, gave us biscuits with real butter and blueberries and honey as an appetizer to make up for not having the pulled pork. I ordered their chicken tenders with crispy brussel sprouts. The chicken tenders were hand breaded white meat. They were tender and juicy and not greasy. I choose a spicy ranch dipping sauce. It wasn't too spicy. The crispy brussel sprouts were delicious. I could have made a meal out of them. They were nice and crispy on the outside while soft inside. Not greasy and stayed hot (temperature) for a while. There was a sauce that came with it and I dipped each one into it. We shared Banana pudding. It was nice and creamy with big chunks of banana, vanilla wafer cookies and whipped cream. Everything was delicious! Kristen was a wonderful server. She was intuitive and had the best customer service. She was also training a lovely woman. Parking is plentiful. There is street parking and a free garage which is a short walk away. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. We chose outside since it was a beautiful day. Kristen was wonderful. Found Tupelo accidentally when looking for another breakfast restaurant and the pictures enticed me. They had a special event and a sign on the door saying they would be closed from 130-4 for a private event. It was 109 and I thought I wouldn't get seated but they were super friendly and say me and didn't rush me (or anyone else that came in before 130). I had the smothered chicken with Parmesan potatoes and okra based on the servers recommendation. I also added the biscuits for a cause with butter and honey. The chicken was chicken strips smothered with sausage gravy instead of white gravy. The strips are brined just like the other bone in chicken, which gave them good flavor, but a ham like texture. They are tasty, so just something to be mindful of if you are a texture food person. Would definitely recommend getting the sausage gravy it was delicious as well. Okra was top tier, crispy and flavorful. Not greasy, slimy, or dry, 10/10. Potatoes had a nice crisp and generous Parmesan, but they weren't the same as what was shown in other pictures. The pictures online show homestyle fresh cut potatoes but these were frozen ones. Still very good just not what I expected. Biscuits were the star. Buttery, soft and light and fresh inside and thin and crisp outside. I had them with honey and butter and had to make myself slow down while eating them. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I and my daughter went at about 10:30 on Sunday before it got busy/ but it didn't take long for the place to fill up and people having to wait. Their menu was full of Southern/leaning dishes, all of which looked good. I got shrimp and grits, one of my favorite dishes ever, and my daughter got a sweet potato pancake with some kind of sauce and berries. She said it was delicious and shrimp and grits were perfect! It was her birthday so she got to choose a daddy of her liking. She chose banana pudding and it was delicious! Our waiter, Brian, was so good- attentive, efficient and super friendly. I wouldn't say there was a lot of ambience, but it was a welcoming place. There is plenty of parking- across the street in the lot used by those who shop at the many stores there and I think there's more parking around the corner. The service was good. The food was not. My family and I came here in 2024 and we remember having an unremarkable yet positive experience. I ordered some type of fried chicken sandwich and it was crispy and good. I don't know what happened since then and 2026, but the chicken was not good this time around. There was too much breading on the chicken to the point the outside was rock hard and half of the weight of the chicken tender was just the breading. The "bee dust" they sprinkled on top did them no favors. Is this excess breading a result of shrinkflation? Anyway, I will not be returning here. We were there at noon, and they had a variety of brunch and lunch options on the menu, many focused on their specialty: fried chicken. We ordered the fried green tomatoes which are served on a bed of grits and were very tasty (not too greasy, good flavor overall). The entrees were less impressive: the Cobb salad looked pretty, but was surprisingly bland, and the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich featured a rather tough, overcooked piece of chicken (though the spicy sauce was good). The sandwich is stacked so that it's difficult to eat as a sandwich too, and better cut up. If half stars were possible, I'd likely give 3.5. We had a group of 8 for lunch on a Saturday. Others had been here but I hadn't. Walking into the restaurant I was pleased by the decor. My family had ordered pimento cheese dip for appetizers. It came with chips and was devoured by all. Most ordered the spicy chicken for lunch- I got the honey dusted chicken, crisp and juicy- I had ordered the 1\2 hen so I could have some to take home- It was just as great the next nite. The rosemary and parmesan cheese fries were so tasty- crisp outside and tender inside. The service was attentive and so helpful. Those who ordered drinks commented on how good they were. Parking is behind the restaurant in a garage- they validate your parking. The restrooms are clean. I'm looking forward to returning here. I will try to get something other than chicken but it is sooooo good I don't know if I can avoid ordering it. read more

I was in town 28JUL2025 for a business trip and searched Yelp to find food options. Since I have been to Tupelo Honey in Raleigh NC for years, this was my choice. There was 1 waiter and 2 waitresses working and I know it is still hard to find wait staff. My waitress was friendly, but she still needs to learn how to touch more than 1 table when she is in the dining area instead of visiting 1 table and going back to the kitchen. I waited 15 minutes just for water. Now for the good part! My pan seared salmon was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside and delicious. The rosemary potatoes were delicious as well. I booked the reservation a few weeks in advance using open table and the process was very simple! As we arrived we were seated right away, the restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Additionally the description showed "fried potato salad with green tomato aioli*, chives, two sunny-side up eggs". Fried potato salad was more smashed yellow petite potato that was deep fried and salted. Definitely not a potato salad. Spicy chicken and waffles. Chicken (as always) cooked perfectly. The waffle, however had a very odd taste, not like a regular waffle. I've had the waffles here before and it was always tasty. Understood weekends can get busy and kitchens can get backed up. However not checking in on customers leave an impression. Additionally, steak should be served while warm, not cold and dry. Not nitpicking here. I typically cook at home and stepped out to catch up socially. I can pretty much tell if food (meat) has been sitting out. Should be addressed before other customers experience the same. read more
