This was my first time to this location of Tupelo Honey. I had been to the original in Asheville, NC, but even then, it had been quite some time. The atmosphere was modern with a southern twist. I'm not going to lie, I chuckled a bit when I noticed my water glass said "Bless Your Heart". In Appalachian culture, this is actually an insult. We had a large group, but the service was excellent. Very friendly, attentive, and everything was brought out timely and correctly. My food was really good! It was brunch time so I had coffee, the "Mimosa of the Moment" which was an apple cinnamon, a biscuit with blueberry preserves, and the Southern Shakshouka. I came for dinner last night in order to use a discount given to us at a recent Yelp Elite event. They were not busy (Tuesday 5:30ish) so I got my requested table by the windows since it was still sunny. My server was great. The place is really lovely and I like there is now a parking garage just steps away. I started with a specialty sip cocktail - an Orange Cinnamon Bun Old Fashioned, and ordered 3 apps since they were half-priced for happy hour. The Biscuits for a Cause (2 with butter, jam and honey), Fried Pickles (chips with ranch), and Famous Fried Green Tomatoes (I don't normally like goat cheese, but these are served with stone-ground goat cheese grits) were all fabulous and I had plenty to take home after trying all. I had a glass of red blend wine with my entree, which was the Pan-Seared Salmon. My two chosen sides were the mashed potatoes and fried okra. The salmon was perfectly cooked; it was a great dish. The service was good. The food was not. My family and I came here in 2024 and we remember having an unremarkable yet positive experience. I ordered some type of fried chicken sandwich and it was crispy and good. I don't know what happened since then and 2026, but the chicken was not good this time around. There was too much breading on the chicken to the point the outside was rock hard and half of the weight of the chicken tender was just the breading. The "bee dust" they sprinkled on top did them no favors. Is this excess breading a result of shrinkflation? Anyway, I will not be returning here. Gorgeous interior and great service, but the food was just okay and not up to the value of what you're paying for it. Ordered the morning glory bowl which was a grits bowl with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and red pepper sauce. It was pretty greasy and salty. I think I would have to try some other things on the menu to give this place the fairest assessment, but I unfortunately was not that impressed. read more

My favorite restaurant in Columbus so far! The food was spectacular, I had absolutely no complaints about my meal! We were all pleased with our drinks as well (highly recommend the espresso martini if you like it on the more chocolatey side!). Everything was so flavorful. We were there at noon, and they had a variety of brunch and lunch options on the menu, many focused on their specialty: fried chicken. We ordered the fried green tomatoes which are served on a bed of grits and were very tasty (not too greasy, good flavor overall). The entrees were less impressive: the Cobb salad looked pretty, but was surprisingly bland, and the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich featured a rather tough, overcooked piece of chicken (though the spicy sauce was good). The sandwich is stacked so that it's difficult to eat as a sandwich too, and better cut up. If half stars were possible, I'd likely give 3.5. We had a group of 8 for lunch on a Saturday. Others had been here but I hadn't. Walking into the restaurant I was pleased by the decor. My family had ordered pimento cheese dip for appetizers. It came with chips and was devoured by all. Most ordered the spicy chicken for lunch- I got the honey dusted chicken, crisp and juicy- I had ordered the 1\2 hen so I could have some to take home- It was just as great the next nite. The rosemary and parmesan cheese fries were so tasty- crisp outside and tender inside. The service was attentive and so helpful. Those who ordered drinks commented on how good they were. Parking is behind the restaurant in a garage- they validate your parking. The restrooms are clean. I'm looking forward to returning here. I was in town 28JUL2025 for a business trip and searched Yelp to find food options. Since I have been to Tupelo Honey in Raleigh NC for years, this was my choice. There was 1 waiter and 2 waitresses working and I know it is still hard to find wait staff. My waitress was friendly, but she still needs to learn how to touch more than 1 table when she is in the dining area instead of visiting 1 table and going back to the kitchen. I waited 15 minutes just for water. Now for the good part! My pan seared salmon was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside and delicious. The rosemary potatoes were delicious as well. I booked the reservation a few weeks in advance using open table and the process was very simple! As we arrived we were seated right away, the restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Food was received over an hour after our reservation time. Infrequent check-in's from our server. Sadly, we've seen the server at the table next to us more frequently than our own. Double chai was watered down. Bloody Maria was clearly missing the fixings (bacon, olive, okra). Had to flag down server (which took time) to finally get their attention. Again food arrived over an hour later. Steak and eggs ordered medium rare. By the texture of the meat, appears like the plate was sitting out for a while. Red but tuff/dry. Additionally the description showed "fried potato salad with green tomato aioli*, chives, two sunny-side up eggs". Fried potato salad was more smashed yellow petite potato that was deep fried and salted. Definitely not a potato salad. Spicy chicken and waffles. Chicken (as always) cooked perfectly. The waffle, however had a very odd taste, not like a regular waffle. I've had the waffles here before and it was always tasty. Understood weekends can get busy and kitchens can get backed up. However not checking in on customers leave an impression. Additionally, steak should be served while warm, not cold and dry. Not nitpicking here.
