This was a lot of fun! The puzzles were very challenging, but not impossible. Help was always there when needed. Help was even offered when we seemed stuck (and we were). You are not at all locked in a room. The puzzle is IN the room as opposed to the puzzle being how to get out of the room. Very well done. I am excited for future rooms from these guys. read more

We went to Hourglass Escapes the day after thanksgiving as a family event - we had 8 people which seemed like the most you would want, even though they allowed for 9. We had a really great time. The story was intriguing and facilitated really well by the 'curator'. We nearly completed the challenge - only had about one puzzle to finish before we ran out of time. The challenges required creativity and teamwork - it was a great experience. The props were well made and full of surprises. This was a great experience and would highly recommend! read more

We did the Rise of the pharaoh escape room yesterday for our grandsons 14th birthday. It was a lot of fun, with great group participation from all who attended. With just under three minutes to go we solved the puzzle! I have to admit our 14 year old grandson did most of the puzzle solving! The couple of times clues were given to us, really helped keep us focused in the right direction. This is a fun family event to do and could also be a great team building event for co-workers! read more

Good Escape Room! It's curated very well (not cheap or cheesy), and the Game Master was an excellent host / help, giving hints incorporated via a fun story-telling way rather than being blatantly obvious. I feel like they have taken the best ideas about Escape Rooms and taken out things that people don't like about Escape Rooms. They provide a small flash light for every participant. They also give a "role" to each participant that has extra information so that everyone is important. This is also a very philanthropic business, with a focus on contributing to different non-profit organizations as part of their business model. Escape Rooms sometimes leaving me shaking my head, with clues that are too unconnected or obscure. This one is very well done and very fun. read more

My friends and I did the Evil Dead 2 escape room the other night. A great room with complex clues but not impossible to figure out. The room does an amazing job of paying homage to the original movie, and incorporates Easter eggs extremely well. But the room is just as enjoyable for those who don't know the movie! I love puzzles and games but this was my first escape room experience. I didn't know what to expect and as the first few minutes ticked by, and neither anyone in my family nor I had solved any of the puzzles, my nervousness grew. Then my father popped open the first puzzle and all of a sudden everyone hunkered down together. Afterward, for days, it was the single experience from that weekend together that my family kept bringing up again and again - they (and I) loved, loved, loved the experience. The clues were difficult and inventive, but logical and fun. The effects and props were awesome, and the guy who led us through the intro and who we pestered (frequently) for clues was great. I think my family is hooked on escape rooms. read more

My group of six did the Mad Pharoah room. Two of us, myself included, have done a few other rooms in the past and the other four were complete beginners. A couple friends were worried that they wouldn't be able to solve any clues and look stupid. We all had a great time playing the game and everyone was involved with solving different puzzles. The puzzles had different degrees of difficulty and when the group got in a jam, the moderator would drop us a helpful clue that got us moving again. We were laughing half the time b/c the puzzles were very creative and fun to solve. On a technical standpoint, the main prop in the middle of the room was pretty amazing. The designers rigged it up with hidden doors, secret codes and all types of mechanisms to trigger it to come to life. I've done quite a few mystery rooms and have never seen anyone go to this much work to build such a system with so many different ways to solve the clues. I can't imagine how much time they spent building it. Really awesome work on their part. The only drawback was the lighting in the room. The give everyone a usb flashdrive with a mini-flashlight at the end of it and this was useless. They also had additional flashlights on the desk we could use and those weren't very good either, but at least they were better than nothing. Near the end of the game I got frustrated trying to read the dark map on the wall and just pulled out my phone's flashlight and used that instead. The rest of the game they let us use my phone flashlight for the remaining clues and it was really helpful. The only other drawback is that the game designers must have a thing for birds. Lots of clues used pictures of birds and all the birds look very similar. I think solving clues should be based on logic, not on whether you could distinguish the small features of one bird versus another in a dark room with bad flashlights. After the game we all stood around on the street for another thirty minutes talking about how much fun we had and who solved which clues. We should have planned to go to a local bar afterward b/c it was so much fun just re-hashing the events of the night. And even the people who were afraid they would be terrible solved a lot of clues. Oh yeah, they also told us that they had a new mystery room in the works that will be released in the fall. With as much work and thought they put into making the Mad Pharaoh room, I can't imagine what they are planning for their follow up. Going to be very impressive for sure. Anyway, now my friends are hooked and want to go to more mystery rooms. I just hope the other rooms they go to in the future can live up to the high standards set by the Mad Pharaoh! read more

Did the Pharoah puzzle room for my birthday with a group of 14. Worked out great and we solved it with some time to spare. The majority of us had done puzzle rooms before but I would recommend this to newbies too. Great production value and the puzzles and clues stuck to the theme really well and made sense. I enjoyed that they gave everyone a role card with a hint. It added a fun social aspect to it. I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

By far one of the best new escape rooms in Seattle! In this one, it wasn't US who needed to escape - instead we needed to solve a puzzle in the room to help someone ELSE escape from somewhere else... can't say more than that, wouldn't want to spoil the fun! There's an engaging story with cleverly integrated roles for each of the attendees, unique puzzles that stand out from the usual barrage of combination locks, all put together by a warm and friendly curator (Seth) who loves what he does, and truly cares about the experience you have. AND - there's free parking right across the street. Can't beat that! A remarkable experience, superb for team-building and for bonding with family and friends! Good for kids, too - I'm planning on returning with my nine year-old. Additionally, over the holidays, for every ticket purchased, the owner has been donating a free ticket to a cancer support organization in Seattle - considering the room has only been open since October, that should tell you all you need to know about Seth. With any luck, he'll be expanding and opening more rooms soon! read more

While my family and I were visiting Seattle, we stumbled upon Hourglass Escapes. We are so grateful that we did. After much deliberation, we chose the Evil Dead 2 room from the three rooms available. Check-in was a breeze and the short video explaining the rules and tips was entertaining. Seth was friendly and helpful while setting us up. The appearance of the room was remarkable, and the gameplay was challenging but not too demanding. Not to give anything away, but the multiple rooms added great depth to the game. We loved that we received a walkie-talkie if we needed any help. We can not wait to go back and try the other rooms. read more

We just did Hourglass Escapes for my sister's birthday. It was very fun and challenging! We were a group of 9 but minimum group is 5. There is only one room you must escape from and we all had special assignments. Although we would be working on different parts of the challenge - not specific to your assignment - the key to escaping this room is teamwork & communication! You find something or figure something out, let your team know! You do get a number of clues throughout the 1 hour you're given to escape the room so you're not entirely on your own but do know that everything you find/do does contribute to successfully freeing Dr. Carter! They did mention adding another room in the future so we will definitely be going again. read more

This was by far the best escape room I've done so far. The production values were absolutely amazing. It's an Egyptian themed room with a giant sarcophagus in the middle. The puzzles actually make sense and fit in with the room. I've done a couple of others where they didn't which can really pull you out of the experience. We did the room with seven people but didn't finish on time. They were cool enough to let us keep going and we had it in another seven minutes. We had several newbies on the team so with more experience I think we would have made it. Highly recommend this one! read more
