My 2012 911 Carrera S wouldn't start one morning in September 2026. Everything was completely dead. The key was stuck in the ignition. The front trunk wouldn't pop. I had no idea what to do. Luckily I called House Automotive Encino. They sent a flatbed tow guy out to me; he jumpstarted it after popping a wall panel to release the trunk. House took care of EVERYTHING. They performed a diagnostic, fixed the battery, and gave me some recommendations on what other services I should consider (based on the fact that my car was already 14 years old). I didn't understand some of them so I called, and they gave me a very thorough and detailed explanation of each without being pushy. House helped me prioritize the services based on safety concerns. I approved some that were of more urgency (like the brake flush, manual transmission, and overdue oil change) and declined others, and House made me feel very comfortable doing so. These interactions were VERY important to me, especially as a female of color. In the past, I have had not so great experiences with other service guys (including especially at Porsche dealerships), who either talked down to me or tried to push things I didn't need. I dealt mostly with Oscar, but Gary helped too. They were so kind and detailed in their explanation and kept me updated on my car, as it was gone a couple days. And when I picked up the car, I met John as well. (And my 911 was freshly washed - so nice!) It was great to meet the guys in person. The actual Office Space is attractive and comfortable, and there is a couch if you need to wait for an oil change. I found all of them very pleasant and knowledgeable and considerate to interact with. I give them 10/10 and recommend them highly, especially to women. read more

I have owned six Porsches. My current car is a 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera, model 991.1--the last generation of the standard Carrera with the naturally aspirated flat-six engine before Porsche converted the Carrera line to turbocharging. This was my first Porsche purchased without a warranty. That was not a decision I made lightly. A Porsche can be extremely expensive to maintain, especially at a dealership. Before buying the car, I sent three independent Porsche specialists a list of possible future maintenance, including oil changes, spark plugs, belts, and transmission service. HOUSE was one of two shops that responded in detail. I had met HOUSE representatives at a Porsche enthusiast gathering years earlier and saved their business card. They provided their regular prices, already substantially below dealership prices, and offered special pricing to earn my long-term business. They did exactly that. Once a Porsche is out of warranty, an owner essentially has three choices: a general independent shop that repairs different German cars, an independent specialist with Porsche-trained and certified technicians, or a Porsche dealership. In my experience, dealership labor rates and parts markups can make the dealer three times as expensive, or more, than a qualified independent Porsche specialist. I see little reason to pay those prices when an operation like HOUSE is available. I have now been a HOUSE customer for approximately three years and spent thousands of dollars there--not because my Porsche has broken down, because it has not, but because I believe in maximum preventive maintenance. I sometimes perform service earlier than Porsche requires. I intend to preserve this car, not merely drive it until something fails. HOUSE has consistently worked with my budget and individual circumstances. During my most recent visit, they replaced the spark plugs, changed the oil and filter, and replaced the cabin filters. I explained that my budget was tight and asked whether aftermarket cabin filters could be used instead of the more expensive Porsche-branded filters. Although that is not their usual practice, they accommodated me and saved me meaningful money. They do not cut corners on important work. They ordinarily use Porsche parts, their technicians know these cars, and they inspect the entire vehicle whenever it is there. They provide a list of everything they find, including relatively minor items, without charging for the inspection. The owner can decide what to address immediately, schedule later, or simply monitor. Their organization is exceptional. At dealerships, I have left a car on Monday only to have it sit untouched until Thursday. HOUSE schedules the vehicle when it can actually be worked on. If I arrive at 3:00 p.m., work may begin by 3:30, and the car is frequently ready by the middle of the next day. Time is money, and HOUSE respects both. They have arranged and paid for a rental car while my Porsche is serviced. They wash the car before returning it, but ask permission first rather than presuming every owner wants someone else washing the vehicle. That small detail reflects the care they exercise with a customer's property. This is a thoroughly professional operation. I want to acknowledge Greg, the owner; Brian, who functions as general manager; and John L., my service representative and apparently the man keeping the Encino location running. HOUSE also has locations in Thousand Oaks and Pasadena. For complete disclosure, I am not always an easy customer. In professional relationships, I am demanding, detail-oriented, budget-conscious, and something of a perfectionist. I ask questions, challenge prices, and hold people to extremely high standards--sometimes standards I probably could not meet myself. I have undoubtedly been annoying, although always with a smile and genuine appreciation. HOUSE accepts me for who I am and continues to treat me with patience, professionalism, and respect. Anyone who can put up with me for three years and still provide this level of service deserves special recognition. In the interest of balance, I tried to identify some constructive criticism--the good, the bad, and the ugly. Unfortunately, I have only the good. My one "complaint" is that Karina, my original service representative, moved on. Karina was always a pleasure to see and, with apologies to John, considerably easier on the eyes. John nevertheless does an outstanding job and has taken excellent care of me. On a scale of zero to ten, HOUSE Automotive earns a ten. I like the people, pricing, speed, organization, locations, and--most importantly--the quality of their work. I wish Greg and the entire HOUSE team continued success. One final recommendation: If you take your Porsche to HOUSE, consider bringing donuts. I have a feeling the technicians may enjoy them. read more

Took my Panamera in for an engine light and yearly inspection and found a different experience yesterday. Tara Dakarman who is their current manager took my car about 15m to quote me $2000 for spark plugs/coils among other things. The estimate was an email- yes an email and I was told not to drive the car. Unfortunately for this young lady, I have worked on cars my whole life and know the difference between an estimate attachment and an email. The people who bring their cars in are not expecting Toyota type service- so it behooves me to think quality control has gone down- I left a great review in November when Aaron was running this shop, however I am disappointed the attention to detail, customer service was lacking. However, John and his team did a thorough inspection and found some issues that within a couple of months would have led to the car being a money pit! I wanted so, so bad to purchase the car, and I even asked the dealer, BMW Auto Nation of Valencia, to negotiate recommended repair costs with me. House Automotive is an impressive business. What strikes you immediately when you enter is how clean it is, but that is just the beginning. The client relations managers are attentive, patient, and knowledgeable. I have only had an inspection of my 2000 Porsche boxster so far, but the 6-page written summary contains not just details but pictures too -- wow, a first for me! Since I have not had any work done by House, I can only comment on price -- to me the cost of labor seemed high as I have found that typically labor accounts for 50-70% of costs while for my extensive list of suggested repairs it was about 90%. This may be in line with dealerships, or the very extensive list of service suggested, but not with the independent shops I am accustomed to. read more
