But then we found House of Ink which was conveniently located in Venice. It worked out because you didn't need an appointment and could just show up. We were serviced within 15 mins and the piercer was very nice and personable. The price was a bit more than I expected but I think this was because of the location. Overall, I would feel comfortable returning and recommending people to stop by if they are looking to get pierced and they are in that specific area. read more

I wanted to get my belly button re-pierced after having a baby, and this was the perfect spot to do just that. I had looked at some other places, but the people seemed a little sketchy and/or prices elsewhere were too unreasonable. They were able to get the job done and I got 3 cover-up tattoos done yesterday by Travia. She was great! I have 10 tattoos and have been to a few artists and Travia is my favorite. I have many tattoos, and most of them have been a terrible experience. starting from the pain of a tattoo, all the way to the artist being too cool for school. House of Ink was by far the best tattooing experience I have had in all my years of self induced pain. My cousin and friend had decided that we were going to get matching tattoos on our recent trip to LA. We walked in and asked if they had any available spots. We were immediately greeted by Trenity who was so nice. I was able to airdrop a picture of the tattoo we wanted to him and within seconds he was already tracing the tattoo. We engaged in conversation with the other artists there and everyone was super interesting. He charged us a good and reasonable fee. All artists where very good at sanitizing their stations; took a good amount of time to make everything clean and tidy and ready to work. Trenity was real cautious about asking if I was comfortable and making sure the experience was true to the business. The tattoo it self was so good. Trenity has a great hand at tattoo-ing. He wasn't digging into my skin- more like a gracious glide.. but you know, more badass than that. My lines are also perfect. Very straight and details are present. I would love to see what he could do for portraits (which he does. They are his favorite!) When everything was finished, he gave us all the proper care information and told us that if we ever needed a touch up that we could come to him and he would do it for free. I thought that was a really great touch. Tips: -Don't come in like a hot-head know-it-all, they will probably charge you more. -Paying with cash saves you money! -The ATM on property ONLY allows a MAX of $200 to be taken out at a time, so come prepared. -Tip is not included in the final price. Bring extra cash (20%) to properly tip the artists. -Be prepared to wait a bit, especially if you are a walk-in. There is a lot of prep work that has to be done before they start. -Going on a week day morning in the off season is your best bet to get service quick! Or just make an apt. read more

My new husband and I came in as a last stop for our honeymoon road trip for mr. and mrs. tattoos. we were so excited and messaged the shop days ahead to let them know so they could be prepared. He did nothing to ensure we would have a positive experience. Here's, where it gets real bad, the mr. tattoo is AWFUL! Garage/prison style when compared to my dynamic, shop quality mrs. tattoo. but we paid top dollar for both ‍ How could this shop employ such a novice artist AND then have him there for an appointment for such a special occasion?! Sean, you are at fault here. Dani did his best which simply isn't good at all and you allowed him to tattoo in your shop! we reached out to you over and over in hopes you would make it right, we reached out to Dani as well. I was a walk in on Saturday... and stayed for 4 hours! I brought in a picture of my current tattoo as well as some pictures of what I thought could be added. Asaru drew the possibilities right on the picture of my current tattoo so I could see how he would incorporate them. He added the leaves and stems and buds and the hibiscus flower and touched up the original plumeria flowers. He was very patient and took his time to make it right. It doesn't matter if this is your first tattoo... a cover up... or your next work of art I highly recommend Asaru! Just a note... they take credit cards but charge 10%. They have an ATM on site which spits out $200 at a time and charges $3 a pop. If your PLANNING to go and get one take cash! The minimum is $60 and it basically runs about $100 an hour. DON'T COME HERE. I spontaneously walked in one day for a helix piercing and was immediately impressed by the low prices. $30 for a piercing + earring was so much cheaper than other piercing parlors, and I, being a poor ass college student, was like hell yeah!! DON'T BE FOOLED AND DON'T BE CHEAP. Looking back, I should've known not to trust this place. 1. When I asked him where exactly on the ear he was going to pierce it, he simply told me he'd "done this a million times" and proceeded to stick the needle in. 2. He didn't show me what kind of earring he was using. 3. He didn't offer any advice on how to clean it. 6 weeks later, my ear started to hurt and the earring was literally embedded into my ear because my skin was growing over it. It wasn't a sanitary problem or anything because I cleaned it with sea salt and didn't move/touch/spin it. So, I went to another piercing place, and they told me the earring was absolute shit. That guy had used a butterfly backing (which apparently you shouldn't use for helix piercings) and it was just overall really crappy. Honestly, just splurge on stuff like this. It's not worth the extra pain and effort. read more

I love this tattoo parlor. My tattoo artist Anthony works here and I followed him from shop to shop because he does such good work. I even got tattooed by him when he was in between studios at the home studio because his work is so good. Personally, wouldn't get tattooed by anyone else at this point. This House of Ink is great and it is a really chill environment. The shop door is open right to Venice Beach so you can see all the people on the boardwalk and the beach while you're getting your tattoo done. Great for being able to take a smoke break outside because you only have to walk a few feet away from the Tattoo chair. Really good prices, especially if you make a relationship with any of the tattoo artists for repeat business. (Review about piercings) My friends and I decided to head over to Venice just to enjoy the unusually warm weather during this winter season. It was my first time and decided to make it a memorable one. I figured that getting my lip pierced would be a spontaneous and fun thing to do. There are many tattoo/piercing shops along the boardwalk, but didn't look as clean as this one. I met Zee, the young lady responsible for piercings, and was informed the price for a lip ring is $45. Her work station was nice and tidy. She was very knowledgeable and avid about client teaching regarding placement of the piercing, the piercing process, and aftercare. She even confirmed with me that the tool she was going to use is sterile. Overall it was painless, but my threshold for pain is quite high. I guess that'll happen after getting a bunch of piercings, tattoos, and having a baby. I highly recommend her. She made the whole process very comfortable which helped calm my nervousness. read more

I visited Santa Monica last weekend with a friend. I knew when planning the trip, I would get a tattoo while there. I did my homework and House of Ink won. Mike did my tattoo and it was my 10th. What bummed me out? My other 9, while done at a shop, wasn't as professionally done! Mike had in his mind how it should look and my arm was wiped down numerous times when he freehanded the words with a marker. The end result was better than I had in mind.
