I got my first tattoo here the other day, and it was everything I hoped for. Now I cant say a whole lot about the shop other than it was nice, the staff was very cool, and there was even a beautiful little pitty to play with (that's not a part of it, I just got lucky). Clean and professional spot, the only downside is parking, but that's Hollywood. I was sweating bullets (its summer and I was nervous) and they even cranked up the AC for me to make me more comfortable. Burju was my artist, (and will be again) and I want to give her a huge shout out. I found her work on instagram and fell in love with her styles and eye for detail. So when I messenged her a design I had found, we spent two weeks going back and forth until we both agreed on the best final design and haggled only a little on cost and size (shes a pro, listen to your artist!) The session only took three hours, which every other artist quoted me five to six. It was my first tattoo, and she walked me through what to expect from the experience, even giving me a couple of breaks during the session. The best part is when it was all said and done, she sent me a formatted list and time table of how to take care of my new ink. You can go online and read different opinions (especially on Reddit) listen to your artist. If you want the tattoo to last in its best shade or color listen to your artist, otherwise it will fade and look like your grandfathers tattoos from the war :) read more

Iron&Ink is a super clean shop. Rachel greeted and assisted me right away. Whenever I had questions, she was there to help and even chat. It was very welcoming! A free bottle of lotion or balm made by the owner was available if customers left a review on yelp or google. Unfortunately they ran out of the balm, and I got the unscented lotion for tattoos. The product works great especially after a fresh tatt. As for parking, please park by a meter or residential area (2hrs only). I didn't know that parking is NOT allowed at 7-eleven's parking lot; unless you want your car to magically disappear and an unwanted bill to occur. I DMed their IG for parking inquiries, but I didn't receive a response until I asked in person when I arrived at their shop~which is why I gave 4 stars :/ If I could, I would give 4.5 stars instead. I got tatted by Patricia, who's visiting LA. She was such a lovely person to be around with! Super chipper and creative. She also checked in with me while she was tatting, which I found comforting too. Overall, her work is awesome! I got my first tattoo, and it's a bit of a horror story. First off, I had my artist changed multiple times, and the appointment date changed as well, which is inconvenient but whatever. I ended up with Lawrence, a nice guy but I won't be going back for more work. Night before the appointment I'm in a movie with my partner and I get a text from the shop manager saying that my artist looked over the design again and said the price would actually be double the original quote of $500, which is already a lot for as simple a design as I wanted (two plain bands around each wrist) I tell them that a double in price the night before is absolutely ridiculous and super unprofessional. I'm able to talk them down from that back to the original $500. I get to the shop and everything is going smoothly until the stencil. The artist kept re-placing it because every time it was just crooked and bad, and he finally settled on yet another very messed up placement but was tired and didn't feel like fixing it despite my concerns. He starts tattooing me and the top of my arm is going smoothly, the linework for the outline didn't hurt to bad but blacking it out was pretty painful. He's blacked the top of my wrist and is lining the bottom when I voice concerns about the bands changing size in weird spots and the lines being very wobbly and crooked. He acts like he doesn't know what I'm talking about and then when I'm able to communicate it so he understands he says "oh yeah man you just can't get straight lines on bands like these" which is bs because I've seen it done in tons of references. He decides to call his brother while blacking the top band on the inside of my wrist and he's upset so he's tattooing me a lot more aggressively. I understand the inner wrist is very sensitive and blacking is a pain, but my partner and I both agreed it was excessively rough. After he gets off the phone and he finishes the top band I say I need a break cause of the pain, so he goes and holds a consultation while I rest. I wasn't sure what was happening but Ty said I was probably going into mild shock from the pain, but I don't know cause I don't fully remember. I asked for numbing cream and he said "nah you have to earn this" He finishes the bottom band (it hurts like hell) and I look it over and decided that I only wanted to do one arm. The tattoo looked horrible before it was even finished, and even worse after. I knew before it was done that I was going to have to get it fixed somewhere else. My artist was super proud of his work and told me if I ever wanted more black work done to call him up. I won't. I paid way too much money for probably the worst tattoo I'll ever get. I'm currently looking for some artists so I can get it fixed when it's fully healed and get my other wrist done properly as well. Later Ty and I went to a piercing appointment for his first piercing (an industrial) and I showed my work to the piercers since they all had tattoos. They said I was way too swollen which means he was going way too hard on my arm, and they all agreed it was horrible work and gave me good suggestions of shops and artists that could fix it and do my other arm too. I'm still in more pain than I probably should be in, and still really upset, but I'm glad my first experience was trash because it means (hopefully) all the others will be better. read more

Well honestly I've had the worst experience here. Not only do they send me to an artist they know can't work fast enough for this piece but also someone that can't admit when their wrong. Started this tattoo in march and til this day Raa never finished it. And both this shop and him have taken 1500 every time they saw me. So yeah honestly I'm extremely disappointed because this was supposed to be a memorial tattoo. For my best friend that passed away.but Raa didn't seem to care much for that it seemed only money was the only motivation. After spending more than 5,000 still not finished. I honestly feel like they killed my best friend all over again by not giving good service to begin with or idk maybe don't fire the artist while I heal up after the 3rd session. She is attentive, meticulous, patient, and humble; she definitely cares about her client's happiness with her work. I was very disappointed with my previous work (done at a different place) because it didn't match the reference art I provided. Maria's attention to detail is impeccable, she was able to redesign parts of it and imitate the brushed calligraphy style in the original art authentically. She is also super sweet and chill. You can tell she loves what she does and is passionate about her work. The shop itself is a good roomy size, professional and modern looking. I arrived at Iron & Ink to work with "Hand of Raa" who I had followed for years on IG. He greeted me with a hug and a smile, being that we spent several hours working on over the phone and through text. I was excited to get this custom piece done that we worked on for weeks, I felt confident in him and paid him full price, expecting great work and professionalism. I arrived at 11am and we spent about 35 minutes going over the piece one last time before he started. We made changes on the rendering on his laptop, because there were dark areas that I wanted lighter, and to add little pops of color to mimic outer space, he agreed, and we were ready to start. Throughout the whole process the only thing I stressed, dozens of times, is that I did not want a dark tattoo, I only wanted bright colors. We agreed that dark purple and black would only be used in the lion and alien faces and the rest would be with bright colors. When he printed out his transfer method I became uncomfortable because it looked like an outdated and I suggested we use another printer or method of transfer, he refused. I began to feel really nervous about his process, but he asked me to trust him, so I did. We picked out about a dozen colors and I noticed a lot of black and purple, so I asked him, right before we started, to go over the color story, and we agreed AGAIN to only use bright colors in the background.He began with the blue/teal at the bottom, which is what we agreed on as the background and I believed we were on the right track. I nervously sat through the tattoo process as several artists and the owner Hawaro stopped by to look on in mild confusion at his work. No one complimented him or included him in the IG stories of the work being done in the shop, which made me feel even more nervous. Time goes by and I realize that we are not going to finish, he only finished HALF of the 4x4 tattoo, which he said would only take 3 hours, I was supportive and didn't even make it an issue. Granted another artist finished his clients WHOLE BACK in the same amount of time I was there (11-7:30). He wrapped me up in saniderm, with no apology or explanation for being there all day and not finishing. After I unwrapped the tattoo and washed it, it started to sink in, that this is not what we agreed on, and it's the one thing I said I did not want, a dark tattoo. The blue/teal was only at the very bottom, instead of on the sides and background, the tattoo looked patchy and the color story was way off and there's a huge patch of pink right on top of the lion? I texted him, asking why it's so dark and he began avoiding me and dodging my calls. After texting him that the way he was treating me was not okay, he agreed to set a time to talk. At this point, I'm still in shock and just want to discuss fixing the tattoo. When I asked him about it being so dark he said " you said you didn't want a lot of dark purple thats understandable..... "sometimes the tattoo artist makes decisions...". You don't get to make decisions ON YOUR OWN about what's being permanently put on my body, with my money, without consulting me, especially a decision that I repeatedly stated over a dozen times that I did not want. He refused to discuss what his plan was for the tattoo since he changed the background and refused to take any accountability/responsibility for ruining my tattoo. Granted, this is a tattoo artist that doesn't even have any tattoos!!!!!! He kept trying to pick apart my words, being rude and condescending so I ended the phone call. He made no efforts after that to be professional or to resolve the issue and basically abandoned me. I contacted the owner Hawaro, who was nice and listened, but didn't seem like he knew what to do or had any real power to handle the situation. I do not recommend this artist or this shop. There should not be artists booking appointments, on their own, if they don't have the appropriate level of skill and professionalism. This whole situation could have been avoided with proper supervision. He ruined my custom tattoo, for no particular reason, the color story is off and I didn't even get the stardust in the background. He seemed confused with his own transfer method, which is apparent near the top of the tattoo, where he tattooed the squiggly lines from the transfer that was not supposed to be there and looking closely I can see the smears of the purple transfer in the tattoo. And he lied about how long it would take to do the tattoo. I deeply regret choosing him as my artist. So many people have this issue of tattoo artists not respecting their wishes and doing whatever they want, it's disturbing and pathological, there should be laws against this. read more

This is was my first tattoo experience. Tattoodo app helped pair me with Lawrence at Iron and Ink. Tattoodo staff was friendly, informative, and pleasant to work with. Iron and Ink is a very clean, professional, and welcoming tattoo shop. The staff was friendly and attentive. I really liked working with Lawrence. He is a warm kind soul and very enthusiastic about his work. I came to Lawrence to get a memorial tattoo for my daughter who was stillborn January 10th of 2021 at 31 weeks. Her name was Rowan Iris Drake. I knew that I wanted imagery of Rowan tree (aka tree of life, aka mountain ash) leaves and berries as well as an iris flower. I like black work, black and grey, and fine line styles the most so combined with his floral design experience Lawrence was an excellent match. He did not disappoint! At 68 years of age, I went to Iron and Ink to get my first tattoo. The entire experience, from my first communication with Victoria until the completion of my tattoo yesterday with Lim, was better than I could have hoped. I have been contemplating several tattoo ideas for many years, then was fearful I would regret it. After my 13-year-old granddaughter sketched a compilation of all of my ideas, I knew it was going to happen. That drawing was put into Lim's hands and he patiently and meticulously created a workable design that captured everything I hoped for. What I thought would be a 4-5 inch tattoo on my back is probably closer to 7or 8, and I love it. The detail is amazing. Lim is a perfectionist, which I appreciate. His artistry is beautiful!
