The service here is disgusting. I've been here only twice, served by two different people and both times I was treated like complete shit. Tonight the server threw my food at the table and just walked away. No silverware, no napkins, no pepper flakes, hell, no service. When asking for these items, which had to be done at least twice, everything was delivered with an unwarranted attitude and thrown at my table like some dog. I don't even want to return because who knows who I'll have or how I'll be treated next time because this is clearly the accepted standard. If this establishment is self service then it should be stated. Because they expect a tip but I'm the one doing the work. I ate there recently, and was quite disappointed that they had only one or two vegetarian options. One was just lettuce, tomato onion, which was more or less toppings for other subs as their vegetable sub. Or veggie burger sub, which is what I ordered with onions and mushroom. It was not too bad however it was ruined by the onions and mushrooms, which I'm sure or sautéed on the same grill as all the steak and cheeses and ruined the whole sub for me because That's what it tasted like and what I'd rather not eat. They're very unaccommodating as well. There was one other vegetable pasta dish, which they didn't tell me about till after I ordered and paid for my other sandwiches and which I was going to place an addt'l order, but was told by Morgan the manager that if I didn't want chicken on it and wanted a vegetarian burger on top, she would have to charge me $10.99+$5.95 which made It $17 for a pizza shop pasta dish and she had no way to adjust that because of the "system" would not let her adjust this. She was not flexible at all and couldn't figure out how to make this happen for some weird reason. I don't think she really knows what she's doing. I was at the house of pizza on Chestnut Street this afternoon. After done eating went up and asked if I could have paper to wrap my sandwich as if it's in it to go container it will fall out into my backpack. He handed me one small square piece of foil and it to go box I asked him again for a piece of paper he said it wouldn't fall out and refuse to give me the wrap for the sandwich. When I asked him for a second piece of foil for the other half of the sandwich he hesitated rolled his eyes and slowly reached down for it. I expressed to him that it's only the two cent piece of foil at best and it's not a reason for him to have an attitude towards people. His professional reply to me was that I was seeing things. This kind of behavior could be expected out of a younger person but this was a gentleman somewhere around my age 52 to 55 years old. I barely even knew I was there, it happened all so fast. I remember entering, a squeaky side door snapping shut behind me. A small TV with rabbit ear antenna sprouting from its head buzzed out the news on the wall. I vaguely remember ordering something small -- a grilled chicken salad. "Oh they have ice-cream" I thought to myself. Maybe I'll pick up a-- The next thing I know, my food was sliding across the counter in a small circular tin and spinning like a tiny UFO. Stopped by for dinner with my family. We had a meat lovers pizza and mango habanero wings. While my family has been here - it was my first time. The food was delicious. The ingredients were high quality and the crust was perfect. Just how I like it - with a crisp bite and chew. I will definitely return to try some other varieties and maybe a sandwich or two. My daughter wanted pizza and this place was walkable from our hotel. The inside is a little dingy but whatever. Prices are definitely very fair. My husband got pizza with anchovies and my daughter got pizza with peppers. Both of them enjoyed their slices. My husband also got a cheesesteak - he's from Philly and said it was fine, so that means it was good lol. I ordered a gyro and liked it a lot. Ordered 9 meals for nearly $100 which is a steal these days. I'm not sure if that is because some of the meals came with hair (chicken cheesesteak & spaghetti w/meatballs). I will be reaching out to house of pizza as soon as they open today, I will say the employees that work in the pick up and dine in area were amazing. On the other hand JEREMIAH was not friendly at all. The bartender was very rude, my child had to use the restroom and instead of him allowing me to ask my question he automatically assumed I was asking for a drink. Anyone who has dined in before would know that the only way to use the bathroom at house of pizza is by the bartender pushing a buzzer. WELL our family usually just gets food delivered however it was a beautiful day and we wanted to take the kids for pizza and wings after we went to the park. I did not know you had to get buzzed into the restroom, so I had ask a lady for the bartenders name she told his name was JEREMIAH. I had said excuse me Jeremiah with respect and he just shut me completely down by telling me to wait and when he was finished he would help me. However this situation was important, my child has medical situations that are on record from PCP and when he needs to go he needs to go!! So I had let JEREMIAH Know that I was not asking about any alcohol that I would kindly like him to just reach his arm tap the buzzer so my child could use the restroom. I then became very frustrated because when I came into the other side of the restaurant he had already had a very bad attitude, and I do not know what may be going on behind the scenes. I did a little digging and I see on house of pizza Facebook page their looking for an experienced bartender so that could be the reasoning behind his behavior, but it really doesn't look good for the company. Long story short my child ended up still tinkling a little on himself and hid it from me while we were there, I didn't realize until we got in my car that he wet himself a little and I am reaching out to them today because that's unacceptable! Even if he was upset he still knew my child needed to use the restroom and he waited about two more minutes just to let my child into the restroom. If it was him that needed to use the bathroom he would of buzzed himself in with no problem, but since he had an attitude about something that didn't concern me or my child we were the ones mistreated. Fingers crossed house of pizza finds a friendly EXPERIENCED BARTENDER as they have posted on their Facebook and can that piece of TRASH DIRT SCUM for a bartender they have there now. House of Pizza is a decent downtown Lancaster Pizza shop most of the time, however on the weekends gets overrun with loud, obnoxious, drunken pizza-goers who clearly are there to hook-up/sober-up before bed. The pizza is decent, nothing to write home about and moderately priced. The service is truly hit or miss depending on how many drunks are filling up the place at the moment. The reason to go to House of Pizza is simply location, location, location. Verdict: A house party you might choose to skip. Everything about my experience at House of Pizza could be summed up with an eh.... The late night atmosphere left something to be desired, both in the bar area and on the restaurant side. I get the impression that most of the business comes from the convenient location, late hours, and those junk food cravings you get after a few beers. Made my way through the noisy bar area and ordered my cheesesteak with sauce. I've had worse cheesesteaks but they were on the other side of the country. While the food wasn't terrible, nothing stood out, from the bread to the meat, cheese, and sauce. You could get better for the same price just about anywhere in the area. A family friend of mine told me about a terrible experience she had here while getting ready to pick up food. A young man behind the counter got an order messed up and the owner verbally assaulted his employee calling him "dumb, retarded, black and used swear words ". When customers around voiced their concerns they were told to pretty much just mind their business. This is not the first incident I've heard like this from the establishment. I have been ordering from House of Pizza for years never had an issue. I ordered 12 wings asked for 6 sweet chilies and 6 garlic parmesan. I received my order with everything in one container. I called to complain and was told because it was ordered as a 12 piece with two different flavors it was put in the same container. This just doesn't make sense to me only because all the sauces mixed together for one disgusting mess....all mixed together for a really strange flavor. Good food, but severely mismanaged. Routinely screw up delivery orders, making a one hour wait into two plus hours. Never apologetic. If you pick it up and quality check, good, otherwise steer clear. Yesterday on the date of Monday, 08 July, 2019 at approx. 5:PM -E.s.t-, I had treated out my friend Sue who's an elderly woman to a large pepperoni mushroom and onion pie with extra sauce, which her and I both shared. Before I placed our order, my friend Sue had told me that approx. 1 week prior to our stopping into the restaurant that somebody in command of the restaurant had approached her as she was sitting in the bar lounge sipping on a drink, the following comment: "Who's stuff is that? Is that your stuff?" (at which time she indicated that it was hers. She had a small shopping trolley with her which she leans on to help her walk, as she has bad knees.) so, she exclaimed that it was her grocery trolley. So, apparent he told her: "...Well, get it out of here! This is a restaurant!..." So, I approached one of the owners/managers of this establishment whose name is John. And John knows me well, as I've been frequenting his establishment fairly frequently, since 2005. Even at one point when I thought the food was on a number of occasions at a sub-par level. When I had rationally brought up this whole issue to him, he began rambling on to me how... "...This is a restaurant... all homeless people do here, is bring in bags and just sit..." And so at that point, I abruptly stopped him, and told him... "Woe-woe, wait a minute. She's not homeless. She has a home-and her and I are valued customers here, and we don't need to be spoken to like that by anybody who works here." So then he told her and I that he... "...was away for six weeks, so I don't know what happened. Talk to my cousin Chris. He was here, and he probably had a good reason to tell her that. He won't just say something like that to her if he didn't have a good reason. It's his restaurant, so be can do whatever he wants. Ya know what I mean?" After making that statement to me, he just walked away, WITHOUT his having done the right and appropriate thing for issuing an apology either to myself for hurting my friend's feelings and with regard for her condition where she needs an assisted wheeled device to help her walk, as well as for her MISERABLE experience. I found it exceedingly insulting and a slap in the face--to both of our faces, myself having just spent a good chunk of my $ on his mediocre pizza (to be honest), for the two of us. OK... first of all... UNACCEPTABLE. And that entire unapologetic attitude, because... neither myself or anybody else--employee or not an employee is in the right to mishandle either me, or any one of my treasured friends/allies in such a way, as to degrade, humiliate, OR embarrass us, in any way. And that means whether we happen to be homeless, housed, or in between. And that also means whether or not we may happen to have a few bags on our person when we enter this establishment, or whether we may have a small shopping trolley, in tow. And I am disgusted at the absurdly low, low level of sloppy, arrogant and grossly uncaring customer care which I had actually taken a very keen note of here, at #TheHouseOfPizza. To be honest, I do not see myself returning there to spend my $ to support a reckless, arrogant management who places again, such an absurdly low caliber of customer care to customers such as myself and my dear friend Sue, who have been frequenting John's establishment FOR YEARS, prior to this unpleasant incident. Just a further note to the management of The H.o.P... Bullying an elderly/disabled patron out of your establishment, with the whole crux of your argument of the customer having a wheeled device which helps them walk... IS DICRIMINATORY. And the fact of the matter is, that you are in danger of being held liable for that. Now, I've been a long-time customer there at that H.o.P, and was very surprised to have received no apology issued to either myself or my friend who was present when I had raised this issue with John (who told me that he is now retired) - - and see the whole thing is on that one note by itself, he told me that he had... "...just told an employee that (he) doesn't want to hear anyone's problems. I'm retired..." Which to me... is utter bullshit. BULLSHIT. Because whether you're there either in an admi istrative capacity as a manager/owner, or where you've just stepped down from that position from being an owner/manager but where you still choose to actively play an active role within the restaurant on a frequent basis, then you extend good customer care, in whatever capacity that will continue to nurture your continued (and hopefully valued) customer base. OK, so don't tell me that yer 'retired', and that you... "...dont want to hear about anybody else's problems..." When an incident is brought to your attention, because that to me... is bullshit. Outrageous. No apology to my elderly friend Sue for her trouble--under the roof of John's establishment. Unacceptable. Unimpressed, and very unwise. read more
