We purchased a side-by-side Whirlpool from this store and have had nothing but problems with it. After going back and forth with their store manager, Anthony, NOTHING has been resolved. He continues to robotically repeat store policies to me, as if I don't already know about their ridiculous 7-day return policy. It took over a week for the ice maker to make any ice, as well as cold water. I have gone back and forth with Whirlpool and Howard's on this issue. Anthony keeps suggesting service on the refrigerator, but the problems go way beyond that and we are overall unhappy with the refrigerator (not enough room due to the bulky lights on the shelves, etc.). Anthony kept mentioning a restocking fee, since they supposedly cannot re-sell it (when I know these places donate stuff like this all the time and get a huge write-off). I wish I looked at the yelp reviews on this store and about the store manager, Anthony, before buying anything from them, since it sounds like people have had the same issue with him sitting on his hands! Contacted the Store spoke with Edward Grimaldi my sales rep , he said no problem they will Replace it with a new one. He even promised that he will refund me $100 as an inconvenience fee. Its February already, 3 months had passed but until now the new door is not installed yet & i haven't receive the $100. I purchased a whirlpool refrigerator and paid into the 5 year warranty. Going on 6 times to repair the ice maker in 2 years and now my refrigerator is spoiling all my food for two weeks now. They make an appointment a week out because they need to order the parts and then they call and cancel the appointment because the person that orders the parts is not available. So we are having to eat out and still not able to store any food. I looked up the parts needed and Amazon can deliver next day and they need 1-2 weeks to get the parts for some reason. Absolutely horrible!!!! I am extremely disappointed with the whirlpool refrigerator that I purchased from Howard's. To begin with, I was fooled into purchasing their 5 year warranty, which was an added expense. Since the time of purchase, the refrigerator has been nothing but a headache. It has needed to be repaired six times already! And to add to the frustration, it is currently running warm for the past two weeks, and Howard's has been unable to come to fix it. The quality of this refrigerator is terrible. It is not worth the money and the headache that comes with it. I am very upset that I have to constantly deal with this appliance breaking down. So just for reference my parents are 84 and 85 years old. My Father is currently going through cancer surgery, and my mother is preparing for knee replacement surgery in 2 weeks. As murphy's law would have it at this busy stressful time their refrigerator went out. That's when they went to Howards in Covina. At Howards they found a fridge for $1800.00 and after explaining that my father had Cancer surgery on the 16th, they were told it would be delivered on the 13th, so it would arrive long before the day of his surgery. On the 13th the fridge arrived and was opened only to discover it was damaged either in the warehouse or on the truck. The drivers told my father they could not deliver a damaged unit due to policy, but also realistically why would you take a damaged unit when you paid for a new one. My parents weren't happy, but they know things happen sometimes. Anthony, the manager at Howards in Covina scheduled a new delivery on the 15th the day before my father's surgery. In the meantime, I got them ice chest and had them throw away everything in the fridge, I told them we could just order meals. With my father's surgery I could not risk him getting food poisoning before or after surgery. The day of the 15th the truck arrived with the second fridge, only to discover it too was damaged in the warehouse also. Again, the driver stated they could not deliver damaged product and left. They were told that Anthony had been informed and would be calling them. That afternoon when they had not heard from Howards, I called the store. I talked to Anthony who told me he knew nothing of the situation, but then told me that my father had refused the damaged fridge. Not sure if he meant it to sound like this but it sounded like he was blaming my father for not taking the damaged fridge. I reminded him that the driver both times said as policy they could not leave damaged product and let's be honest who wants to pay for broken crap. I made it clear that I was not happy with my elderly parents eating out of ice chest like campers a day before his surgery, and the risk of food poisoning that could be deadly at his age in his condition. At which point he says, 'You know the second delivery cost us $300.00 and we aren't making a profit from this sale now anyhow". I made it very clear to Anthony that that was a "Howards" problem. My parents came into their business in good faith, and had done nothing wrong, and that Howards isn't making a profit because it was their failure to deliver the product in new condition that my parents paid for! At this point Anthony rescheduled a third delivery for the 18th, the day after my father's release from the hospital, which was the situation we wanted to avoid. I told Anthony I wanted it opened at the warehouse, because I did not want a third damaged unit. He assured me that this would be done. The 18th (2 days after my father's surgery) with him in recovery being given food from an ice chest, the 3rd delivery attempt was made The truck arrived with an open DAMAGED fridge that looked exactly like the fridge from 3 days before. It had a "2" written on the wrap that was around the fridge, and when asked what that meant, the driver said, "It meant second delivery attempt" WTF!!!! They then told him he could have this fridge at a discount"? Are you friggen kidding me?? What happened to their no damaged delivery policy? Then wanted him to take broken crap when he paid for new product. My father refused and got out of bed 2 DAYS AFTER CANCER SURGERY and drove to Howards in Covina to get a refund. When they arrived at Howards, Deann at customer service told them "The doors were out of align because the level adjustments weren't done on the bottom yet", but that's crap, 2 days earlier the delivery guy said the misaligned doors were from damage, and doesn't take into account the dents, which were extremely similar to the dents on the unit from the second delivery attempt They were told a check would have to be mailed to them, and OK I get policy, but at this point if it were my company Id be doing what ever I could for the guy who should be home in bed recovering instead of being at Howards dealing with Deann. Deann got so heated and had such an attitude some one else took over the transaction for them. MY FATHER SHOULD BE IN BED RECOVERING WITH THE ABILITY TO GET COOL WATER AND ICE LIKE THE DOCTOR SUGGESTED!!!! Ill tell you one thing Howards my father better not get an infection or complications in the next few days. Once happens, twice is not good but if handled is OK, but 3 times, no! Back within the first week of September my boyfriend and I ordered a refrigerator from Home Depot and scheduled the delivery for October 3 however, the day before we were informed the fridge did not arrive to Home Depots distribution center and was backordered until First week of November. We were in a panic (or at least I was) to figure out what we were going to do because the fridge is a NEED when moving not just a want like other furniture/appliances. I rushed over and ordered one however we measured our apartment later that day and it was too big for the opening in the kitchen, we rushed back over and canceled our first order and placed a new order for a smaller fridge. All through this process Deann was super helpful and informative. It was mine and my boyfriend's first time purchasing a large appliance like this and she walked us through each step very thoroughly. Not to mention, we were both moving out of our respective family homes so it had been a lot going on for us. She showed us in Howard's system how many refrigerator they had in stock and how many were ordered to show us that she could 100% guarantee our order and for the delivery date they offered. Update to my previous review. After complaining to CA State Attorney General's Office, Howard's customer service agreed to refund me 50% of the cost of the microwave, they did not inform me personally of this offer. If I did not read their response to the Attorney General's complaint, I would have not seen this offer. ( maybe they were hoping I didn't read their response and see the offer). I feel if they were sincere about their offer, it would of been offered, without me having to file a complaint with the Attorney General's department. When I purchased the microwave, it was on sale. To accept this 50% offer, the microwave now sells for about $500 dollars more then I purchased it for. I considered accepting the offer but declined it for these reasons: (1) Being that it is a built in microwave, I searched but could not find a microwave that would fit my cabinetry. (2) I considered buying the same model microwave, it would cost me about $500 dollars more and I read a lot of bad reviews on this particular model. If I were to buy the same model would be risky. (KITCHEN AID MODEL # KMBS104ESS). (3) I am presently in a wheelchair due to complications with my left leg. I called and spoke with West Covina Howard's store manager, Anthony Ebert and advised him of my condition. I asked if he could send someone to pick the microwave up, his response, it would cost me approximately-$100 or more to send somebody to pick the microwave up, (more money out of my pocket). ( 4) I was advised by Mr. Ebert, that when I arrived to return the microwave, I would have to pull up YELP, and change my review, or we could not move forward with the return, ( It is illegal to make that a condition of accepting my return and providing 50% refund). Modifying my review should be my choice and not a condition. (5) I found out that Howard's canceled the (5) year extended warranty that I purchased from them for the microwave, which still had three years left on the warranty. ( I guess anticipating that I was going to return it), Howard's should've waited til the microwave was actually returned , I still have the microwave. In conclusion: I have never encountered such a unprofessional business, Howard's claims to be in business for so much years due to customer satisfaction. Howard's has clearly lost this focus. I have complained to the Attorneys Generals Office and CA Consumer Protection Agency. I am going to kept the microwave and try to fix it on my own and look into purchasing another warranty. In closing, this has been very stressful on me and my family. First time using Howard's though I've watched their commercials all my life! Great experience! Our washing machine died on Sunday. Looked for a place that's open on Sunday's. DeAnn answered the phone immediately, and is very knowledgeable. Through a series of phone calls, I changed my mind twice, and she had to rewrite the invoices each time. They had every washer I asked for in stock, and DeAnn was very helpful and patient with all the changes and picked up the phone immediately each time. Washer was delivered Tuesday at 1pm. Delivery crew are dedicated Howard's delivery people, not the usual subcontracted delivery types. They were both very positive and helpful.
