My wife and I purchased a refrigerator from Howards in Torrance on November 16, 2021 after our old refrigerator conked out on us after 14 years. We initially went to the store in Torrance where we had purchased the previous refrigerator and had a great experience. HOWEVER, this company has recently been purchased by a big box store and has changed dramatically. We were treated so badly by the service person that we walked out, drove a few miles to Howards and it was like a breath of fresh air!! Even though Saleem first introduced us on our first visit, but ended up buying a stove range from Anita. =P She offered a small discount upfront which I was pleasantly surprised. Their price is very competitive with some of the online shops. Ron worked with us to provide further discounts by matching competitor's and their low price guarantee is best in the industry (60 days?). I bought 2 top of the line Maytag washers in the last 2 years from Lowes- what a nightmare - the first one I finally got a partial refund - the 2nd has been out of service for a few months now - DO NOT BUY MAYTAG - i went to Howard's and bought a Speed Queen Washer at Howard's - Yay - Speed Queen rules! I was in and out of Howard's in 15 min. and the Washer was delivered and installed the next day. My refrigerator was less than 5 years old and it died. I needed a fridge fast. I went to several places (Lowes, home depot, best buy) none of these places could deliver in less than a week. We walked into Howard's and I saw the fridge I wanted,and I received excellent customer service! I came in on a Saturday and they are making sure that they get it to me on Monday! I got a bit carried away at Howard's last weekend. I bought 3 refrigerators and a TV. Lord. But that's what credit cards are for.... The big old kitchen fridge that came with my house, is on its last leg. So I have a new one, an Electrolux, on order. Meanwhile, the garage fridge was even older & also not doin' so great......so I figured might as well replace that one, too. A new LG arrived yesterday. So quiet! No more humming sound 24/7. As long as I was on a roll, I got a new little under-bar compact fridge (Frigidaire) to replace another relic that came with the house. AND, because I was surrounded with new TVs at the store, I was inspired to buy a little Sony for a guest room. My first visit to Howard's ended up somewhat epic, obviously. I was with Product Specialist, Brian G., for more than 2 hours. He's patient, knowledgeable about all appliances, and not at all "pushy". I was the pushy one, asking a million questions while unable to make final decisions. Fortunately, I felt that Brian had my best interests at heart so I took his guidance. And, so far, I'm completely happy. Howard's appears to be an efficient operation. My delivery yesterday included 2 of the refrigerators and the TV. They were right on time. Delivery was free and they hauled away the old appliances, which will be appropriately recycled. Delivery guys were friendly & yeah, I had questions for them as well. Good news: I'll be getting a rebate check in the mail at some point & Brian will even fill out the paperwork for me. Excellent customer service means everything to me. It creates trust. I can honestly say that I had fun during my 2-hour shopping experience at Howard's. I have an old washer & dryer AND an old microwave AND a scary ancient dishwasher that all came with This Old House.....uh oh. Stay away from Howard's !! I purchased a 50 inch plasma floor model TV on 5/14/15 for 333.00. II asked sales manager, Albert if he had a box for transporting? he replied no, but i'll wrap it for you. I'm thinking he's going to use a strong grade of wrapping like "bubble wrap ", keep in mind it's pouring down rain outside!!! I also asked how much does it weigh, Albert replies, 35lbs (LG's website rates the weight of this tv at 68 lbs). To my surprise he used a kitchen grade saran wrap to wrap this tv and only one thin layer. Albert never wrapped the lower section of the tv which house the speakers.... So, Albert and another employee brought the TV to my car and placed in the back. Once I arrived home and begin to remove this so-called 35 pound TV from the car, the slippery already wet plastic came loose and barely tapped the floor. The screen could have been broken in the store when I noticed Albert and the other employees struggling to remove the TV from the wall. the screen broke and rain got into the speakers that weren't properly covered in the first place. I called Albert and Tony at their corporate headquarters and both of them were adamant that once you leave the store the item is yours and we cannot refund, but we can help you purchase another one!! Howards is a retailer of televisions and they know you do not wrap fragile plasma TVs in kitchen grade saran wrap... I will never shop the store again this has only validated my loyalty to Amazon.com of which I've never had any issues with all electronic goods. We ordered a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in Torrance and they delivered it all the way to Crestline! Jorge was very communicative about the long distance and there was an additional fee since the team had to drive almost 70 miles each way. When the team with the dishwasher arrived, they brought the dishwasher up 3 flights of stairs with care. Another team came in shortly afterwards to remove our old dishwasher and hooked up the new one. They took the old dishwasher and cleaned up the area they worked. I was fairly impressed on the selection of product on hand considering all that is going on with supply chain issues. my only issue was not with Howard's but with the delivery and installation team that required additional costs to install due to the vent not draining properly. the vent was fine with the older unit, but the new unit maybe it discharges more water faster, but the tech said we needed to have the vent cleared. an additional $90 read more

These 5 Stars are specifically for the outstanding customer service I experienced at the Torrance location. I came in for an oven and microwave, with nothing specific in mind. Sal was an excellent resource on the floor, answering every question I had about sizing & differences between models. Very easy going and helpful, quickly setting me up with a next day delivery. When I received the oven the next morning, the delivery guy turned on the oven, leaving all the plastic packaging inside, melting to the inside of the oven & smoked out my parents house. Carlos & his partner at customer service quickly set up a replacement for the very next day. Unfortunately that one showed up dented all the way around. Everyone in store placed calls & emails. Sal reached out again to make sure there wasnt anything else he could help with. 3rd time was a charm, everything worked out perfect. We live in Santa Monica. My wife and I were in the market for a new built-in double oven. After an extensive search for a particular oven, through one of Howard's competitors, we were directed to Howards. It took us over 45 minutes to get to Howards from Santa Monica on a weeknight. We were graciously met by Gutavo Valencia. He put us at ease and told us to take as long as we needed to look at all the ovens Howards had to offer. Mind you, we got to Howards after 7:20 PM and they close at 8:00 PM. My wife, an excellent cook and one with a keen eye for design had a particular look for our kitchen. Gustavo took his time and walked us through each oven covering the pros and cons and permitting my wife to ask every question and check online the reviews for each as we studied each oven. Gustavo was honest, straightforward, and patient as we shopped. He answered every question with regard to availability. He assured us once we picked out our desired oven, that it was in stock and would be delivered and installed according to the tight schedule we had in place. With a sense of humor, Gustavo made our experience well worth the drive and effort. He was stellar and a perfect example of what customer service is all about. In my search for a new stackable washer/dryer, I walked into Howard's and was greeted by Lorenz, a nice and not overbearing salesman. He introduced himself and appropriately asked me to let him know if I had any questions. I looked at several units and then spotted the LG Washtower which was hanging out in a corner, apparently too superior to hang out with the other washers and dryers. I thought to myself, "Hello, what have we here?" It was time to hail Lorenz and pelt him with questions. He was very knowledgeable about the unit and the warranty options. When we sat down to do the paperwork, he even offered me a bottle of water to keep me hydrated through all the reading, initialing and signing of the required paperwork. We've come by this Howard's location on more than a few occasions. We've purchased our washer and dryer, and dish washer from them on separate occasions. We've had really good experiences with their sales team, and weren't pressured to purchase (nor should you feel pressured... feel free to just walk away if the price isn't right, or what you're looking for isn't there). Prices are competitive compared to the Home Depot and Best Buy nearby. The models are not the latest and greatest, but not really a deal breaker with home appliances. Having the older models on the floor for sale, the only option for a warranty is the manufacture warranty which covers primarily only the motor. The other alternative is through Howard's, which covers more, but is a bit pricey. This is could be a drawback for many customers. We had an issue with a delivery service with our washer and dryer, and had to decline accepting the appliances, though not the fault of Howard's, they worked with us and got us a better replacement. Another delivery service, when they installed our dishwasher, explained to us what needed to be done, and broke down the additional charges. While a bit irked about spending the extra $, they did an exceptional job with our install and actually made our current wiring/electrical setup better than before. So far, everything we've bought from them has worked great. read more

I wanted a Bosch dishwasher for my rental property; every appliance store said "we can't get them; just keep checking online"...no help whatsoever...then I went to Howards and met Lorenz at the Torrance story. He took a proactive approach to helping me, kept me in the loop consistently, and soon enough called me with the news that the Bosch dishwasher was in and ready to be delivered and installed. Several months later I decided to put in a new refrigerator so I called Lorenz, received a great "Black Friday" deal. I went to Howard's to purchase a Microwave Oven wall combo. It was my first time ever inside a Howard's store. I knew what I wanted and called ahead to make sure it was available, but due to COVID there was a back order situation. I went into the store (I could have purchased it online as well) but Lorenz Strassberg provided excellent customer service over the phone that I wanted to purchase it from him to support the local store. Even with the backorder situation, Lorenz provided updates throughout the process. When my unit arrived, Lorenz called and was ready to set up delivery/installation within 2 days. I purchased a Speed Queen Washer from Howard's. Their employees refused to deliver. I have lived in my house since 1993. I have never had an appliance company to refuse delivery. My house is 300 ft from the street down hill. Howard's refused delivery. Speed Queen Washers are only sold at a few places in the South Bay. Please note that Speed Queen is the only one I know that fills the entire tub of water to get the clothes clean. South Bay Appliances sells Speed Queen. The sales man at South Bay Appliances told me my machine was still in warranty and refused to sell me another machine. I am grateful and will replace all my appliances at South Bay Appliances. Truth be told I'm grateful that Howard's refused to deliver. Howard's keep your employees that you employ that lose you customers. It is a great business strategy read more

I am Not impressed with their service and accommodation. The store Mgr. At the time was Frank. He was not responsive to say the least and every question we had was either "it is out of my control, I don't know or I will look into it. " I even emailed him to follow up on my request and again there was NO response. It turns out he was on his way out of the store and simply find did not care for anymore! , Note we purchased ALL our appliances the same day of our visit. Close to $6K in products and they not even provided us with an extended dryer hose for the dryer. I had to buy it from Home Depot. Not acceptable considering how much we spent at their store... We went back after a few weeks to check on Black Friday sales and any price drops. . I gotta say new Management (Ron) was also not very personable and was not impressed so I did NOT buy the TV set from them... headed to Costo and I received so much better service and they won my business with the whole TV set of $1k... please do your homework before you head to their store. She was really patient, available, and helped us figure out what we really needed. They made it difficult for me to cancel the phone order for the refrigerator that was out of stock and the manufacturer plan to bring them to store more than 2WEEKS AFTER , due to covid 19. My call for cancellation was put on 5:40 pm within 24 hrs from my order . WITHIN 24 HOURS ! Their customer service was horrible. Their system is not for customer oriented. They should have canceled for me with just one phone call . I had to call my credit card service. And they gave me the credit immediately back. Their bad attitude in their store should've been a sign for me to go to a different store but I processed and ordered my whole kitchen at the store in Torrance since they promised they will get everything delivered fairly quick. Well, after you pay for these high-end appliances don't expect anything high-end to be high-end anymore. They are liars and I'll make sure I'll report George to the corporate office, even though it doesn't seem like he cares about his job.. For the third time, they scheduled a delivery/ installation and they simply don't show up. I take time off work to wait for them, they keep me waiting all day and then tell me at the end of the day that they won't come. After getting so frustrated on the phone they stopped answering my calls or giving any updates. As of now, I have no idea when my appliances will be installed. I bought a GE Profile dishwasher from Howards Monday, Feb 21. I also bought a mattress that I have been thinking about for over a year (didn't know until then that they sold mattresses). Delivery and set up for everything on Feb. 27th went smoothly. Howard's could have delivered sooner, but I wasn't able to be home until then. Both items were good buys in terms of money and quality. In the last 3 years I have purchased an LG washer, Kitchen aid refrigerator, and a stove and stacking washer and dryer for a rental property, all from Howard's. Paid for a working fridge and still has not received one after 4 months. Definitely deserves a new, top of the line fridge now. I was in need on a whole set up times 2 (fridge, range, w/d, dishwasher, microwave - the works) and A friend referred me over the Gil after I about lost my mind at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. Gil was absolutely fantastic to work with... he was patient, kind, and understood my needs. He went above and beyond trying to accommodate my very hectic schedule and was very honest and knowledgeable about the products.
