Our first experience at Howdy Hot Chicken was amazing. First, the service was top tier! Safwaan was knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. He was patient with us as it was our first time and we weren't really sure on what to get and then gave great suggestions assuring us we would really enjoy the food (which we did) he definitely deserves a raise! Overpriced chicken. My chicken tenders were burnt on the outside and raw in some parts in the inside. I did ask them to remake my chicken and they did and honestly they made it super fresh and hot for me and it tasted way better than what they had given my boyfriend and I beforehand. Still, not okay that they had served me that before but at least they were nice enough to fix the issue. The Mac and cheese was beyond mediocre with little to no taste. The actual chicken seasoning was underwhelming but maybe I just don't like how thick their breading was on the chicken. The breading really took away from everything else as it fell off the chicken too easily and it was crispy in some areas and soggy in others. Also, there about was no one in there when we went yet all the booths were dirty with food and the guy at the front was just faced toward the kitchen on his phone the entire time we were there (besides for when someone came in to order or complain). About what you would expect from a food truck. Similar to the Waffle Bus in both quality and quantity of food, prices are the same expect to pay $10+ for your meal. The food was good I ordered the fries and others in my party ordered one of thier sandwiches. Everyone enjoyed thier meals. We went around 8 PM place was empty theb picked up with more customers coming in. The food took about 25 mins to come out. They offer several layers of spice we all stuck to Medium level and it was just right with a little kick but nothing to over powering. I can only imagine how hot the last level is, if you love spicy food try it out and let me know lol. Flavor was really good. I think they are the only ones who get medium (Heat Up) right, had a kick but didn't destroy my mouth. Just wish the chicken and fries were crispier, especially considering they are drenched in sauce, so get a bit soggy. Only had to wait 5 minutes for my food, which was nice. I have tried Howdy Hot Chicken in Sugar Land, and it was super good. I have also tried previously at this new location in Richmond, and it was good too before. However, the last time I tried was such a disappointment. Perhaps it was a weekday evening? For a $11-$12 sandwich, it really needs to be good, but the star of the show was terrible. I ordered the Howdy Sammie, and the chicken was so hard! It felt like it was over fried or fried again. The sauce and cole slaw and cheese (added) was good, but the chicken was terrible. Please make the chicken fresh and make sure it looks good before giving to customers. If it's a $5 sandwich from fast food restaurant, maybe it can be forgiven for a bad sandwich, but I think the $5 sandwiches from fast food chicken restaurants are actually better than this last time. read more

I placed my order to go but there is a small area to eat in The chicken fingers were so HOT I couldn't even eat them. The outside of the chicken had a thick crumbing coating with hot spices that is guaranteed to leave a residue on your fingers. I had to throw my order away even after removing the thick coating I couldn't even eat the bare chicken. If you go to this restaurant make sure you take a pair of gloves and a fire extinguisher. Most honest review you're going to read. I love this chicken sandwich. It's everything I want. Thick juicy and delicious. I can't do higher than a "Hello" sauce. I tried the hoterest sauce purely by accident (more on that later) and almost died. Like legit, this is like is you crazy spicy. Sadly, my last three visits went like this: I can't handle spicy foods anymore the way I used to. But of course they mixed up my hello hot with my sons howlin' sandwich. Two bites my mouth went numb and lips started swelling. The next visit, they ran out of the sweet pickles and didn't say anything. Today, they left the slaw off one of my sandwiches. I'm so very sorry they keep dropping the ball in my order, but I'm coming a long way for this and rather just stop dealing with these little surprises. I was expecting an elevated version of Chick-fil-A but Howdy Hot Chicken didn't even come close. The chicken was dry and hard - almost like jerky. The size of the chicken was waaaaay smaller than expected for such price (much smaller than Chick-fil-A for reference purposes). Even though the order was "to-go", the bread kept its shape and toast. This is quite impressive Flavor 5/5 My sandwich was Howlin', which is considered Hot and right before their spiciest level. This flavor and punch from the spice was perfect. Every bite contained the same amount of kick from beginning to end. Quality 4/5 The chicken breast was long and impressive in size but definitely looked a bit skinny. I'm not sure if this is what they aim for, but it stood out for sure.
