I want to give a strong recommendation for Howdy Plumbing. I recently had a backed-up drain at one of my rental properties and called them thinking the line would probably need to be snaked. They took the time to talk with me over the phone first and helped confirm what the issue likely was. I asked if they could come out the same day, and they were able to accommodate. They showed up exactly when they said they would. Before starting, they gave me a price range so I knew what to expect. In the end, the sewer line access was very close to the house, so the job was easier than expected and they actually charged me on the low end of the range, which I thought was very fair. What really impressed me was how thorough they were. They ran a camera through the line and showed me exactly what was going on inside the pipe. They explained the condition of the line, what caused the issue, and how much life the pipe likely has left. They also took a look at another plumbing concern while they were there. Since my tenants were present during the visit, I especially appreciated how professional they were. They handled everything respectfully and did not discuss pricing or anything that would have put me in an awkward position in front of my tenants. These guys are honest, on time, and clearly take pride in their work. You can tell it's a family business that values its reputation. After several bad experiences trying to find a good plumber over the years, it's a relief to finally have one I can trust. UPDATE! (AT END OF REVIEW) Just had Mike from this company out and it was a real mixed bag. Difficult to explain, but I'll try: I have a clogged toilet. I tried to unclog it myself, but apparently I'm crappy at it (dad pun, sorry not sorry). I tried some chemicals, the plunger, I bought an auger at home Depot, nothing worked. I found Howdy Plumbing in the classified section of Craigslist, had a nice conversation with Kyle who set me up with an appointment with their 99 dollar drain clearing special this very day. Mike came earlier than I thought and got right to work on his tablet. He didn't touch a thing, he just looked around with his tablet. Mike then said it would be over $200 to clear my drain. Confused, I asked why. He explained to me he wrote The $99 special, and this is why I wasn't eligible: he had to pull the toilet. I asked why don't we try to snake it out, and if it doesn't work, no harm no foul, I will get a new toilet and put it on myself. He seemed to agree and shook my hand, then walked out the door! I called Kyle back, confused again, and he said he would call Mike and get an explanation. Kyle call me back shortly later and told me that apparently I was rude and dismissive to Mike, and that he left because. Because. Because I don't know. Dude just left. He agreed to do work in a friendly and very normal way and then just got in his truck and left. Good luck with these guys! If you're willing to pay full price sight unseen, they're the ones for you! They will just skip to the most expensive step and shake your hand and smile :) UPDATE 4/26/25: after everything above, today I received an invoice from these people. What a joke! The best! Professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and affordable! Far and away better than the rest, and here's why... The cleanout at my Mom's house broke, causing the washer to back up into the shower. The company that her home warranty sent did a temporary fix, and left us hanging, saying they couldn't do the necessary work. The job was too big for them. So then we called Roto Rooter...what a JOKE. Roto Ripoff!!! Talk about the runaround! First Roto Ripoff guy does another temp fix. The second Roto Ripoff guy claimed he couldn't get his camera down far enough to diagnose the problem, but he could come back for an arm and a leg to fix what he couldn't diagnose! For Real?! Finally we called Koenig! Kyle came out. Used his camera to give us a real diagnosis and estimate. We hired him immediately. He was super knowledgeable, very professional, and completely up-front with us. He even came on a Sunday because by this time, the problem was urgent. I texted Koenig Plumbing on 6/28/24 to get a 2nd opinion and quote after I was told all my sewer lines were bad and needed to be replaced for $38k. This would mean I'd also have to replace all my Terra cotta tile flooring because I am on a slab. Kyle arrived and ran his camera and, disappointedly, I saw the same images as the 1st company showed me. But this time, Kyle explained to me what I was actually seeing! There was a layer of grease on the top and sides of the pipes. The bottom part didn't have grease because the hot water carried the grease away. The pipes were good!!! They didn't need to be replaced!!! To anyone inexperienced, like myself, it totally looks like the bottoms were gone! I was almost in tears, imagining if I went with the 1st company. They are in the building next to my office. I thought I could trust them. I see them on a daily basis and have for 10+ years. They said I would get the frieinds and family discount and they'd take care of me Kyle inspected all lines and found only a tiny area that was bad. He was professional, honest, and knowledgeable. He camered my lines, ran the snake, and my drains work great! All for a miminal charge. The 1st company wanted $489 for the inspection and to run the snake, which they didn't even do. (Because all pipes were bad, of course) What a breath of fresh air to find Kyle on my Nextdoor neighborhood site. I am a single lady and surely don't know much about plumbing. Not only did Kyle come out that same evening, but he also worked up several quotes after he left, giving me different options on projects we discussed. He really spent time explaining things to me, asking if I had any questions. I will be using Koenig Plumbing for ANY and ALL plumbing needs from now on!! They saved me from a $38k unnecessary repair! 4th times is the charm! Kyle is a talented friendly plumber. My father's house had a 1940's tiled in vanity with porcelain sink and original Koehler fixtures. I called 4 plumbers before I found the right person, Kyle Koenig. The first plumber (highly rated) never responded, the second plumber (highly rated) didn't even come into the bathroom, peeked at it through the doorway and said when I got a new vanity he'd be happy to hook up the plumbing. The third plumber (highly rated) assured me it was impossible because there wasn't enough room between the sink and the wall to allow for replacement. And the fourth plumber, Kyle Koenig, said OK and replaced the fixtures! I love this can-do or can-at-least try attitude. In addition, Kyle was very positive, friendly and refreshing and it was a truly enjoyable time talking with him (which he didn't seem to mind) as he did the work. I cannot speak enough about this business and Kyle, the owner. I had two other plumbers come out and they were terrible. One never got back to me after giving a very high quote. And the other got back to me but the quote was high AND he had no idea what could be the problem. He was talking about opening up the wall AND the concrete to figure it out. I heard about Kyle from Nextdoor and called him and he came out the next day. He assessed the problem immediately and said he could come in two days time to fix it. While he was fixing it he came across an issue that he didn't anticipate because of the poor cheap plumbing that was put in when the house was being built and he couldn't see it until he was digging around. He had to do extra work but of course ran it by me and I agreed. He broke down all the costs and labor to me and it all made sense. While he was doing all of this, he discovered that there was a different way he could achieve the same outcome while keeping the costs down. This was another situation that he couldn't have known until he was fully involved. So not only did he know what was going on, the only thing he couldn't of anticipated was the extensiveness of the project because the issue was further up than he planned on and bad original plumbing, but he dropped the cost back to the original quote. He could have done anything he wanted and charged the more expensive rate and I would not have known!!! But he was so incredibly honest.
