I came here to celebrate a girlfriends birthday with a party of 4. It was quite busy for a Monday evening. The patio seating was open with lots of people. We opted to sit inside for the a/c on a humid summer night. There were large booths and some tables were blocked off for proper social distancing. Most of the staff had on masks and some had on gloves. I saw the bartender had his masks off at some point during the time we were there. We were immediately greeted and sat in a booth. Our waiter (Ronnie?) was friendly and took our drink orders. The westside cosmo is amongst us the favorite. Just a touch of sweetness and comes beautifully dressed in sugar rim and cranberry spear. Good for fall (or any season). We got dip trio and smoked mozzarella sticks for apps. Mozzarella sticks had a nice crunch on the outside and soft gooey cheese on the inside, but I didn't notice any smokey flavor. I did appreciate the dipping sauce was nice and warm. The dip trio was basic pick, guac and queso. Chips were thin, but crunchy. Nothing remarkable. We shared the PEI mussels, impossible burger and the heirloom pizza. The mussels were fine, not the best I've had. But the sauce was amazing. I needed more bread to drink up every last bit. The pizza was wonderfully crisp and the toppings were a wonderful pairing. The tomatoes and balsamic together were fantastic. They forgot the cheese on the burger, which would have put moisture on the rather dry patty. The bread pudding with caramel ice cream was the perfect ending to the meal. The bread pudding has rum or bourbon taste and the warm gooey bite was delicious with ice cream. Incredible food and cocktail. I am visiting from Austin and a Lyft driver told me there were great restaurants on Howell Mill Rd. She was right! I never write a review, but we had such an amazing time at Howell's I had to. The food and service were great, but what really stood out was the hospitality. One of the little girls at our table hurt her finger and was crying. The manager Curtis came over and offered to help her. He offered her his own finger splint which made her laugh and stayed with her until she felt better. Truly phenomenal and greatly appreciated. Came here for dinner after work one day. The atmosphere is sexy and the vibe scream date night BUT you can also go here as a single person or with a group of friends as well. They have a nice huge wraparound bar that was packed with people. We ordered the 14' Fun guy pizza and added chicken, for the appetizer we had Smoked Salmon Fish Dip. The salmon dip was refreshing when you ate it with the cucumber. The crackers that came with the Smoked Salmon Fish Dip was crispy and paired well with the dip. The fun guy pizza was a thin crust mushroom pizza that we added chicken to. I didn't know what to expect when we ordered it BUT, It was so good we ate the whole thing even the crust was good. I was super excited to visit Atlanta with friends and we found this new brunch spot. We made reservations for noon and after arriving on time, we waited 30 min to receive a menu and water, once we order they ran out of the French toast, we then waited another 47min to get food and asked to speak with a manger. We still never received food after the hour wait. As my party witness 4 parties being served and receiving food we asked to speak with a a manager and as I'm typing this we have not seen anyone. Hours: Very good We wanted to grab a late dinner on a weeknight somewhere close (within a 10-minute drive of my home). Howell's is open late -- until 11pm, Monday-Thursday, and 1am, Friday-Saturday. This place is relatively new. It opened in late December 2017. The mixed-use development it resides in, Berkshire Howell Mill, like many developments around town, seemingly popped up overnight. It's near the intersection of Howell Mill Road and Collier Road, not far from I-75 in South Buckhead, between the post office and Chick-fil-A. Valet parking is offered Thursday-Saturday night. Free self-park spots are always available, regardless of the valet, in Berkshire's garage on the backside of the property. Drive straight through the valet area to get there. The folks who opened Howell's were also behind Atwoods Pizza Cafe in Midtown (April 2016), Hearth Pizza Tavern in Sandy Springs (Hearth has been around for over a decade, since at least October 2008), and Camps Kitchen and Bar in East Cobb (February 2017). Inside and out, Howell's looks beautiful. Berkshire itself is a trendy-looking development. Modern and clean. The retail building exteriors are painted all white. Howell's has a cool, contemporary architectural design with plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. The interior has a bar, TVs, high boys, many booths, and an open kitchen. The dining room opens up to the patio which is partially covered and has more TVs, fire pits, a tree, and an immaculate green lawn (fake grass) for bocce. This is an ideal spot for groups, but works just as well for dates too. During our visit at night, the space was dimly lit. I would describe the food at Howell's to be "elevated" pub grub. The food is a bit more creative and interesting than typical bar food. There's a combined lunch/dinner menu and they serve brunch too. When we visited for dinner, there were appetizers like Prince Edward Island mussels ($15) and BBQ egg rolls ($9); salads ($10-13 each), burgers and sandwiches ($10-15) including a fried chicken sandwich, wood-fire-baked pizzas made with two-day-fermented dough ($9-14); classic entrees such as New York strip ($25) and fish and chips ($13); sides like sweet potato waffle fries ($4) and "chef-inspired" mac & cheese ($6); and desserts such as creme brulee ($7) and s'mores ($10). They've also got a kids menu. The drink menu is sizable with a variety of beer (draft, canned, bottled), cocktails, and assorted wines by the glass or bottle. The drinks were strong and well-made with high-quality ingredients. I recommend both the cosmo and the gimlet. In general, I thought the food was fine. Nothing great, but nothing terrible either though the ribs were disappointing. The portion size on the ribs was generous, but the ribs tasted tough and overcooked; maybe even microwaved. The thick barbecue sauce tasted uninspired and generic. And the ribs didn't come with cabbage slaw like the menu indicated. The Brussels sprouts and the arugula and goat cheese salad were my favorite food items. The Brussels sprouts had a hint of sweet and sour to them. The bits of bacon were tasty. The arugula and goat cheese salad was simple and fresh. A half-dozen wings were served in one order of the Buffalo wings. They were alright. The wings, a mixture of drumettes and flats, were big and meaty. However, they didn't have the most appetizing texture nor flavor. Even the thick-cut carrots and celery were extra hard and chewy. What's up with that?. Howell's Burger was the best non-vegetable item I tried. It was simply a decent, filling, and satisfying burger. I'm not sure what "Robannaise" sauce is, but according to the menu, it was supposedly on the burger. We had the patty cooked medium and it came out about right. Service by Marilyn R was wonderful. This was my third visit to this restaurant. Each time I've gone, the food has been good but just "okay" good. I'm not sure if I'll go back unless I'm invited there by a friend. It just doesn't "wow" me. The first time I went, it was for a business meeting, the second time was for a friend's party and this last time was because a friend was in that area for a massage and I met her there. I had a unique cocktail called Porch Swing which had Gin (I changed that to vodka), elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, strawberry purée, and Prosecco. It was "okay" - not as good as I'd hoped. I love elderflower liqueur but I couldn't taste it. I also had the Fun Guy pizza on gluten-free crust. The crust cost me an extra $5. SMH. I don't know why gluten-free items are always so much more expensive. It was "okay". Not as flavorful as I'd hoped. My friend had the grilled ribeye and she said it was good. They have a lot of outdoor seating which I like. But - Finding a parking spot may prove to be a challenge. Overall- the food, atmosphere, and even the drinks are just okay. My wife has been a few times, but this was somehow my first time at Howell's Kitchen. We went on a Friday night and it was quite full but we were able to get a table right away. The staff was really kind and it seemed like they knew many of the other patrons, which gave me a quaint, neighborhood vibe that I really enjoyed! The menu has a lot of options for both food and drinks, but we decided to try the wings and chicken tenders. The wings were classic hot wings and were delicious! I didn't get a chance to try a cocktail but their bar looked awesome and had great options on the menu. Hopefully I'll get to try them soon! Visited Howell's on a Monday night with friends. Parking is includes a deck and street parting in front of the restaurant. Both can fill up quick so be mindful. It's a very inviting location with an indoor and covered outdoor seating option. Service was pleasant, helpful, and prompt. For my meal, I ordered the empanadas for an appetizer as well as the grown up chicken tenders for dinner. Both were so yummy and flavorful. And the fries and honey mustard!? Great additions that complemented the meal. My friends also enjoyed their food including the garlic sticks and turkey burger. I had a friend sell me on how amazing this place was so I was super excited to check it out while I was in town. It was a huge disappointment. Starting with the drinks . I was not a fan at all. They were very pretty, but they weren't good at all. The appetizers were good, but the sandwiches were so dry. The fish tasted like it was sitting in the broiler for 45 minutes past cook time. My boyfriend got the brunch burger which he was told was the best thing in the menu and he was so disappointed. The patty was over cooked and lacked flavor. The best thing on the menu was honestly the fries. For such a small menu, they need to buff up their menu and add lots of flavor. It was a huge let down. read more
