I couldn't believe it had been about a decade since the last time I ate at Howley's. I used to frequent it a lot when I went to school in Lake Worth, but have lived in NYC since. I was glad to see in many ways it was unchanged. My go-to order is the chicken philly with sweet potato fries. Just so good. I also got a cheese quesadilla which hit the spot. Their sweet tea is perf. If you're unfamiliar with the restaurant, it has a classic 50's diner feel but with fun, eclectic touches. It was really nice to see some Pride decor as well! My friend struggled to find a full mustard bottle, and they were a bit crusted. Also, service was a little slow--but to be fair we went in around 3pm on a Friday. Still very friendly nonetheless! Found this place via Yelp and wanted to try it. The reviews were right, the food is great! We had French toast, eggs and potatoes. Everything was tasty! The service was good, waitress seemed to be a little high, she was excited, spoke fast and was laughing for not apparent reason. But it was was hilarious to observe her with other people. Very entertaining! The kitchen was busy, food took time but it was worth it. The ambience wants to be nice, they have large display of paintings from local artists with prices. It has a 50's dinner style but it also seem that old. The walls were dirty, there is mold growing and very evident, and it seems it was cleaned 3 months ago. That's why I am not giving them all five stars. I'm sure they can do a better job cleaning the place, the walls, the floors. Ask to be seated outside and you will avoid seeing all this. To be fair, we ate inside so I'm not sure if outside is cleaner but at least you won't have to breathe the mold! read more

Started with the veggie potato skins that were huge and fresh and amazing, had never had them before and they didn't disappoint. Got the shrimp po boy as per reccomendation of Jake who is a master of his trade, and the young lady in the blue shirt working who was wicked nice as well, one of the best po boys I've ever had, the bread was sooooo soft and everything was so fresh. After a show at the Perfect Vodka Amphitheater, I browsed Yelp for a spot to grab a bite. Being that I don't get up this way that often, I was stoked to try a WPB fav of Yelpers. Fried fresh mozzarella - comes with 5 pieces, great app. Their twist on moz sticks this was pretty delicious. Country fried steak with mashed potatoes and Mac. Whoa! The steak was incredible, the Mac was great but the mash was disappointing. It didn't taste like anything at all. The steak and Mac though made this a solid dish...just get a diff side. The place was a little loud especially with the massive table of drunk college kids shouting. We asked for dessert to go and the server disappeared - waited about 10 mins and finally got up to wait for him. Still waited a bit more till he finally brought the bill and dessert. The banana cream pie was a pretty tiny serving and not all that great - especially for the price. Overall it's a good spot, but some of the dishes are hit or miss, the service could of been better....but that steak!!! read more

Anytime I'm in Palm Beach, I come to Howley's. They are hands down the best for breakfast in West Palm Beach. I don't like to eat eggs at any restaurant except Howley's. Their food is always cooked to perfection & flavorful and you get a mound of food! The service is interesting because it's definitely a quirky place with a lot of different types of people, but I've had some exceptional service & I've had questionable service, but the food makes it all worth it! This is a really, really special place in West Palm. It's got the old school diner feel and that unique vibe that just really makes you feel like home. This is a local hangout spot that's recently become hip with a younger generation, but I remember going to my 10th birthday here many, many moons ago and it's still just as great now as it was then. I used to be big on their spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna, but there are a ton of other great food options here as well. Their breakfast is pretty decent. Lots of vegetarian options here if that's your thing. I think there's really something for everyone at Howley's. Where to start? Everything looks bangin'! And now that I've been there for both breakfast and dinner, I have to say... BANG, BANG! They've been around since 1950 and if they've always been this good, I can see why. I'm sure it wasn't always the hipster hangout it is now, but it's very cool to sit in a mid century modern building, with art from local artists featured (and for sale). The staff is young and hip, as you'd expect, fast and friendly. The food, oh my, the food... everything we've had has been very good, excellent, actually. But what most made me smile, was the way my salisbury dinner special was presented. In an old metal 'TV dinner' tray. All I can say is this was my first visit here, and it will not be my last. There was so much to choose from the menu, and it all sounded good. It took forever for me to decide. I chose the turkey pot pie. You can definitely tell this was made from scratch in their kitchen, from the chunks of turkey, the fresh sliced veggies with the right tenderness, and the seasoning. It was one of the best pot pies I've had. The onion rings were so tasty. My favorite was the coconut cream pie; it was out of this world! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere fun. I came here for my birthday after checking out the Yelp reviews and looking at the restaurant's Facebook page to see what they were doing about Covid precautions. On their Facebook page, they said that they were exceeding social distancing requirements. It seemed like a good bet. I'll start with the good part! The food was SO delicious. The artichoke dip appetizer, especially, was a showstopper. The shrimp and grits were very good. They were savory with slices of cooked green pepper and giant shrimp. It was homey and scrumptious. My dinner date got a three egg omelette and pancakes. He really enjoyed his meal as well. I got a slice of carrot cake to go, and I haven't tried that yet (still full from their generous portions), but it looks amazing. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, and they all had on masks. Now for the bad part, when we walked into the restaurant, everything seemed fine as far as social distancing and Covid precautions go. I felt very comfortable. By the time we left, though, the restaurant was legitimately packed. People were sitting in the booths directly connected to both sides of ours and on the other side of a small partition. Every booth around us was full as well as most of the tables. It was so crowded in that it was kind of loud. It would've been really fun if there weren't a pandemic going on. As it was, I felt extremely uncomfortable and wanted to leave quickly. It's, sort of, put a damper on the good experience. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that a restaurant is doing well during this pandemic. I know that it's been terribly difficult for the restaurant industry, but I would not go again on a Friday night. My boyfriend and I were talking about possibly returning if we have an afternoon off during the week or something (or after this mess of a pandemic is over). I'm bummed that they didn't do any social distancing. I've been to a couple of other restaurants to dine in since the pandemic started, and they did much better. Only certain booths were open or they had limited capacity. That wasn't the case here. I would love to come back here when it feels safe to do so. Came for brunch again and had a better experience than the last time. Server was attentive and came to check on us regularly, and the food came out lightning fast! Literally didn't even wait more than 10-15 mins. I had the goat cheese and apple omelette with potatoes -- pretty good combo but nothing out of this world. We ordered a side of cornbread which was a sizable portion that you can share between 2 people; it was nice and moist so yes, deff get it. Maybe I don't see the hype about this place yet because I haven't ordered the right item on the menu. So I'd give Howley's 3.5 stars until I can get it right. Last note: The parking lot is atrociously small and usually packed so I hope you have some parking skills and just pray that your car is unscathed when you're done with your meal. read more

While on vacation with the family who are something of the foodie type( me being the like) decided to go and have breakfast before our adventuress is rip to the Everglades. I will keep my review of the food experience. Coffee arrived shortly after we were sat which came hot and stood up as a solid cup of joe. Our wait for food was very short as we were there between early morning and lunchtime. We had the açaí bowl shared item, which was cold and had plenty of granola, banana, and berries to mix with. The sis had an order of the French toast looked and tasted like it should, nice bread and slightly sweet egg batter that gave a nice crusty exterior and warm not underwhelming inside. For the sausage gravy and biscuits - my opinion would be there biscuits were good but nothing to rave about. Dads order was the Howley's crab hash - two small crab cakes on English muffins with two poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce with smoked bacon and fried potatoes took all the glory and the favorite from our choices. read more

Now that I got that out of the way, it really is, the only not awesome thing is parking can really suck. Now lets get onto the menu. If you like artichoke dip you will like this place, what they do with the chips to go with it though is what makes it good, they take actual pita bread and fry it up into chips. The shake and bake pork chop takes you back to childhood when your mom used to make them even with the steak fries to go with it. When it comes to milkshakes though, the boozy milkshakes are really good as well. Try the little Lebowski, my top pick right there. I forgot to mention the awesome key lime pie. I usually love Howley's. I get their Rueben all the time, but after the experience I had the other night, I probably won't be back. The staff was great, so I just wanted to say that first before I get into this. I decided to take my gf out for a date, and because she loves crab cakes, I read Howley's had the best crab cakes, so we both got that. When they came out, they were both burned on top and bottom, so they offered to make new ones which came out fine, but when I tried them, they had a bunch of lemon juice in them? Which we both have stomach sensitivity to. I'm not sure why there be so much lemon juice in a crab cake if they give you a lemon wedge and a lemon mustard sauce on the side? They were very bitter, had too much filling and hardly any crab. We also got the chocolate thunder cake which was terrible. It had a very strange taste to the point we couldn't eat it and threw it away. We both got sick that night and I wasted about $80. Not a good experience. read more
