Jacob's Gist: I want to love Howley's and have been twice in hopes of loving it- but I can't say anything more than I like it. ================ One of my best friends is obsessed with Howley's. She said that in high school she would come every night and it was the place to be. So naturally, she took me. My first trip I ordered the Meatloaf. The meal was good and the sides were delicious, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I also thought it was a little pricey (yet nothing outrageous and I'd pay it again). The second time here I was with the same friend and another one of our friends from out of town. I had a sweet tooth so I ordered the French toast. For not coming with any sides or anything, I thought again that the price was a bit high. It was expensive to order a side (even fries), so I just stuck with the French toast. It was good, but really nothing to remember. I just can't bring myself to give Howley's anything more than a three because, to be honest, both experiences have been rather forgettable. Maybe the third time when my friend drags me along again will change my mind though. read more

This is an awesome, quaint, upscale diner. Should be on diners drive-ins and dives! The food is always good.

Food was out of this world and very affordable. We had the shrimp and grits and the crab hash- absolutely amazing. The service was excellent and personable. The other night I brought some friends here to try it out for the first time.... unfortunately something in the food made us sick pretty bad first impression. A few things can be improved upon. If I'm not mistaken, almost every subgroup establishment does a pretty good job at adding "gf" to make it easy for gluten free restrictions. Every time I go to howley's I'm also super hesitant to order because it makes me feel like I'm a burden. Hopefully Howleys can and will implement a gf or a separate menu... but that's just my big wishing. It's so sad because I think howleys is the greatest option for late night food, although it's almost the only option.... but there's certainly room for improvement. It's only because of the late hours that it was two stars, rather than one. read more

Popular neighborhood spot with decent brunch. Three people and I waited for about a half hour on a Sunday at prime time, so not bad. I tried the Nutella doughnut, French toast, scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon, home fries and corn beef hash. The doughnut was decent, if a little bread-y. I liked the french toast, too. The cold brew wasn't good so I would pass, especially considering the price. Our service was kind of slow. 3.5 stars. read more

Went here for dinner last night and it was great! We started off with the nachos which really are loaded unlike a lot of other places. I had grilled chicken which was so juicy and delicious! They have sooo many options on the menu so even our vegan guest was satisfied! The main thing I loved about this place is that they sell BLM (black lives matter) beer and a donation is made to the organization! The photo is the 6 pack of BLM beer we bought. Been passing this place for years and never knew how cool it was inside. A lot of art keeps you interested while you wait for you're food which by the way is good. Came for dinner then the next week for breakfast which I admit I won't do because you have to wait quite a bit - (not a fan of lines) but the breakfast was tasty. Nice service clean place. Love the ecelectic vibe of this old artsy diner. The staff is grunge hipster and very friendly. They are supportive of local artists and all the art on the walls is not only cool to look at but it is for sale. I had the ahi tuna burger which was fine, not by far the best I've ever had. We shared the cherry cobbler , a special that night and it was out of this world! It is open really late, so I hear.. we went at 8 and we did t have to wait. I would visit again. read more

They have thee best shrimp and grits I've ever had, and I've had quite a lot from many different restaurants!! I would travel to West Palm just for these shrimp and grits, that's how delicious they are! They are creamy, savory, and packed with with peppers and spinach! It's cute little restaurant with a great staff. They have a beautiful mural on the side of the building, which is great for photos!! If you're in the area, please check this place out. Love this quaint little restaurant. We went here in June of 2020 for breakfast. We got a very warm welcome and good morning from the hostess. Jazz our server was very friendly & funny. Food was awesome. The corned hash is fresh, not canned. I gave them 4 stars because the potatoes in the hash needed to be cooked more, they were still crunchy, however, it wouldn't stop me from ordering the hash again. We will stop in whenever we're in the area and hopefully we'll see Jazz again. read more

Howleys is a staple diner in WPB serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They even have a full bar for the late nights. I recommend the cornbeef hash for breakfast and quesidilla for lunch or dinner. read more

I wanted to like it- I really did. Unfortunately I didn't. I don't. And I won't be back. The server and host were nice enough but not helpful. They were completely out of veggie sausage and Doctor peppers. The server just stood there while I waited to find something else. No help- no direction. Finally just ordered a grilled cheese out of desperation and it was literally Kraft singles between bread. My grilled cheese and mimosa were $24.00 not including tip. I feel like it was worth maybe $10. The art is cute, the vibe is great, but it's just not worth it. It's not terrible- it's just blah and overpriced. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Palm Beach County. Really good food, large portions and a cool vibe. They even serve adult beverages. The restaurant itself is a 1950s era diner that kept its quirky charm. But the main attraction is the food. Quality ingredients. I especially like the turkey club sandwich. It's real turkey breast meat, not your typical sandwich meat you find at most restaurants. Everything I've had here is good. read more

I was immediately impressed this time and I've come here many times prior. The waiter was so friendly and seemed like he actually enjoyed serving us ; VERY different from the last two times we ate here and had China as our server. She was rude, short-tempered, didn't smile, acted as though getting straws was bending over backwards and even rolled her eyes numerous times at us throughout the meal; we were prepared to request a new server if she was assigned to our table again tonight. Thankfully, we were greeted by a smiling Tyler who was so great at his job and made us feel welcome again. We will definitely be back because of servers like HIM! Howley's has been an iconic diner in its same Dixie location since 1950. We have loved frequenting the funky diner for all but the 1st 20 years. Loved the menu, drinks, service, eclectic group of diners and awesome waitstaff. That's why I was terribly disappointed with tonight's visit. The food and service were great but the roach climbing up the cabinet near the grill was not at all awesome. I told an employee who quickly got rid of it but I couldn't unsee it. It prompted me to take a closer look at the surroundings. Ugh. Gross. The vent in the ceiling by the bar was caked with greasy lint and a piece of that lint was dangling from the corner. I watched it for awhile to see if it would fall. It didn't while I was there. That whole ceiling was greasy and dirty with the darkest discoloration closest to the vent and fanning out to the rest or the ceiling tiles. Howley's looks like it should consider closing down for about a week for a good scrubbing and some fresh paint. The cleaning should also extend to the floors. The grease on the floor by the flat top is thick. And these were just some of the things I observed in the main dining area. It really makes you wonder about the parts you can't see...like the kitchen!!!The last thing I observed was not Howley's fault but a man came in seriously digging in his butt...we will not be back. (I was generous with the 2 stars because the food and service were good and I might be a bit nostalgic for the way Howley's used to be). read more

This spot is so cute and so different, there is a mini put out front and artwork throughout the whole restaurant great scenery. Right next to the beach a Great location, here I will usually get chicken wings cause they make them so crispy and delicious. Most times I will get blueberry pancakes they are filed with huge blueberries that pop in your mouth and they are the best pancakes I can find anywhere. read more

I have been going to Hollys for as long as I can remember all the way back into the 70s. Although the place is changed a few times it still is a very good food outlet. I happen to be in town and hadn't been back for a while so we went for breakfast. There was quite a wait but we decided to stick it out and so glad that we did. This place does everything right. Every time is a great time. Most recently I had the Country Fried Steak and it was probably the best I've ever had. First the steak. Fork Tender. I've had other country fried steak where you need a chainsaw to cut it. Second the breading. The breading is light and flavorful. It's not heavy and greasy. Third. The gravy. It's a white sausage gravy cooked perfectly. It's smooth and not gloopy or paste-y. Fourth. They put one of their buttery/flakey biscuits over the steak and under the gravy. Amazing touch. Liv (our server) was great. Attentive. Friendly. Informative. Quick. Observant. We will will definitely ask for her again. Pro Tip: The Fried Green Tomatoes are TO. DIE. FOR. This has become our south Florida tradition and I'm never disappointed with the food or service. Today we started with the mozzarella sticks, which are made with rounds of homemade mozzarella- delicious! We ordered a second plate and I ended up taking my wedge salad to go (but it was great the next day for lunch). Very impressed! read more

Cooked in site, must be right, but scary to watch. I made the mistake of sitting at the counter in front of the grill and watching the short order cook's prepare breakfast on Sunday morning. As a previous restaurant I am very well or of cleanliness issues in restaurants. While I noticed both short order cook's wearing masks, multiple times the masks were pull down so could wipe their faces, mouth and their nose regions with their hands. Only to watch one of them repeatedly pick up pancakes with his bare hands and put them on the plates. And what's with the $8 OJ I could justify the price if it had vodka in it. read more

I have been going to Howley's for years. I have to say it has changed a lot over the years. I am not sure it is for the better. It once was a local hangout and a true diner. It is now more of a hipster kind of place with a diner vibe. I think the food is probably better than it was years ago. The prices certainly have gone up as the place has become more of a foodie kind of place. It certainly isn't fine dining but is more of an upscale dine type place. Tried this place the other day. The food was ok nothing to write home about. We came in a half hour before they close at 10 on Monday's so they can wax the floors. We had the devilish eggs,and fried fresh mozzarella to start off. The eggs had hardly any whipped yoke and the fresh mozzarella was bland and watery. Then I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The meatloaf was dry and had hardly any ketchup on top. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were ok. I also had a vanilla shake which was good. It came in the same metal canister that it's made in. The service started slow but picked up as we went along. The place is divey with works of art hanging all over the interior walls. You can also purchase them if you wanted to. The place also has a very kewl mural on the side wall outside. read more
