Our recent visit was the first time we have ever had Korean hot pot and barbecue. Our biggest concern was that we would not know what to do or how to do it. The moment we walked in our concerns, vanished. We told the waitress it was our first time ever and she was amazing. She gave us a tour of the different food areas, explained what everything was, answered all of our questions, and then went above and beyond showing us how to cook the food. After just a few moments, my husband and I felt like experts. We were so impressed. If you are new, don't be afraid to tell them! They want you to have a good experience. I ordered the hot pot and got the herb broth. I thought it was delicious. Since this was our first time having hot pot, I don't know how to review the selection, but I thought it was nice. I think I ate my weight in different mushrooms. My husband had the Korean barbecue and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also offer Japanese sushi and have a bar just for appetizers. This place is honestly incredible given the limited variety that Memphis has. It's super clean, $30-$35 for all you can eat hot pot, bbq, or both (important to note that everyone in your party has to pick the same thing). All of the items are self serve & the buffet area is well organized, clean, labeled clearly, & consistently tended to. My favorite feature was the unlimited refrigerated self serve drinks area! The Korean bbq meats were way too sweet. The quality of food was ok. Definitely a lesser selection than 901 hot pot. But HQ has sushi and sashimi which is a plus. Things you should know before going: everyone at the table must order the same thing. You will be cooking your own food. The waiter will be happy to swap your hot plate out if you just ask. Drink selection a wide variety. Our waiter was polite and accommodating but didn't tell us about the hot plate swapping until we had already mixed seafood with meat. Ohh well! (Shrug) You've got to know how to use a black-stone to cook if you don't go with the soup option. I am not adept at using the black stone so I left the cooking to my husband. This new hot pot place is so cute! Inside seating is super spacious and you have personal hot pot soups & a grill in the middle. Their style is different, in that everything is self-serve. No waiting for a robot (or person) to bring out your food. They have a sauce bar, fruit bar, veggies, noodles, some sushi, unique salads (pictured), a fried section (think fries, nuggets, fried dumplings, etc.) and several meat options. They also have a wall/area full of drinks such as Ramune soda, Asian tea varieties, cane sugar drink, coconut water, aloe water (I think?), and familiar coke products. These drinks are included in the meal, which is unique! I had a Chinese sweet tea (red can w/ yellow writing) and a jasmine tea (taller, green and white bottle). They had eggs!! Also clams, crab legs, and chicken feet. They also had other unique items such as a dish featuring pig ear. They have a small cooler next to the drink wall which contains small cups of ice cream. They will ask if you want to change out your grill, often, take their offers because the grill charts up quick. My ONLY negative thing to say, is the grill is sooooo hot it cooks the meat outside quicker and can leave the inside raw. I'm not sure if there is a setting to lower the heat to fix this, maybe worth asking and it's good to note. Went on a Friday night with a party of 7. It was not crowded at all. They seated us in the back area for big parties. The waitress asked us what we were doing which was either Korean bbq, hotpot or both. We all got the Korean bbq and hot pot dinners. Remember that everyone has to do all hot pot, or all Korean bbq, or do both which is what we decided to do. The waitress took our orders of the hot pot broths. My first time being there I peruse the food and drink stations on what I wanted. Helpful tip, keep all raw meats and seafood on one plate and keep your raw veggies on one plate. Please only take what you can eat a little at a time so to not be wasteful. We were fortunate to have a big table to put all our plates on the table. Also, get new chopsticks or utensils that strictly touch the raw food so there is no cross contamination. Get clean plates and bowls for cook food for eating. I wasn't into the Korean bbq as much as far as cooking my own food, but one person on each burner needs to be the chef to cook food to keep track what's going on. Luckily we had 2 people that like to be the chefs of the Korean bbq cooking. I personally like the hotpot because I like soups. I ate mostly seafood because it cooks fast and not as filling as the meats. The cooked meat was good. I only tried 2 pieces of sushi since I am a sushi snob and rather go to a Japanese restaurant for that. I didn't try any other cooked food at the stations. The drink station had a variety of drinks to meet everyone's tastebuds. For dessert I had the orange sherbet ice cream but you will eat it slow with a plastic spoon since the ice cream is hard and makes you be careful not to break the spoon. Get a silver spoon if you can find it at one of the food stations. I had the green melon popsicle which was soft and good. The place and food stations were clean. The ventilation of the place was good and even though it can get smoky when you do the bbq grilling, I didn't smell like bbq when I left the place. It was very cool and comfortable too especially when you eat hot pot and you aren't sweating! I really like this place better than 901 Hotpot because I can get what I want and not have to wait for the servers to bring all the food to cook. We stayed over the 2 hour time limit but since it wasn't busy, they didn't kick us out. The price for dinner is $34.99 ($29.99 hotpot and $5 more add the Korean BBQ) and they add the 18% tip as well for big parties.
