I've seen reviews of this place a couple of times before. Hsu's has been in the downtown Atlanta area for many years. On the wall by the main entrance they have several photos of many famous people who have eaten there previously. I met up with a friend of mine there for a good chat and chew. Parking: For anyone coming here for any occasion make sure you validate your parking with the restaurant. The ONLY parking lot they validate is the one right beside the restaurant! Drinks: I got the strawberry lemon drop drink. It was good and did come with the vodka flavor with natural strawberry syrup. It was good. The vegetable dumpling was good! On to the main entree was the House Lo Mein. It was just average and not the greatest I've tried. It took a minute before our server came back. To me it needed more flavor, seasoning and it didn't have any spice what's so ever! I wouldn't get it again. The thing I found annoying/unprofessional was the staff taking forever to give me and my friend out checks. We came into the establishment an hour before they closed. At that time a lot of people were still in the place. However, by the time we received our checks we were the last people in their establishment. The other individuals were the workers cleaning up. We tried to get a server to come to our table sooner but wasn't successful. This is my sole opinion but I wasn't over impressed over food. read more

It's an Upscale Panda Express, Lol! Service was not great, especially at the bar. The table next to us waited about 30 minutes just to get their drinks. When we sat at the bar, the bartender told us he would not serve food. He seemed unhappy, too busy, and had an overworked attitude, then asked us to order from a table and wait for seating, even though other customers were already ordering and eating at the bar. We waited over an hour for a table, then another 40 minutes for our food. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. When we asked the waitress why it was so busy that our food came out cold, she said it is usually like this during conventions. After waiting that long, we expected the food to be amazing, especially with so many celebrity photos on the wall. Instead, it felt like an overpriced, dressed-up Panda Express. Finding a big lump of flour in my corn soup was unacceptable. Definitely not the quality you would expect unless it was fast food or Panda Express. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend, unless you enjoy overpriced, underwhelming food surrounded by celebrity photos. Perhaps there are limited Chinese food options nearby, which may explain the popularity. read more

Boy oh boy! The first and definitely not last. This food was so great. Every time I visit ATL this will be added to my come backs. The basil chicken was so good. But the green beans with pork were my favorite. The pork medallions were so tender. The salt and pepper shrimp was lacking of flavor. The corn chicken soup was great, so was the hot and sour. But their wonton was a hit and I crave more. The restaurant is nicely preserved in time I feel. There are so many celebrities with photos who have come and gone from this world. The food is decent. I had the fried chicken dumplings, and it was good. The mai tai is strooonngg, btw. I ordered the spicy basil chicken. It has a moderate spice level (coming from someone who loves spicy food). The plate had a decent amount of veggies, so I appreciate that. On January 27, 2025, I dined at Hsu's Gourmet Restaurant. The Chinese male manager kindly seated me in a quiet, private spot, which I appreciated. My server, a male employee (not Chinese), possibly named "Z Team F" per the receipt, was very friendly and recommended the Monk's Delight. What impressed me most was how he explained an English word on the menu in Chinese--unexpected but very helpful. The food and service were excellent--easily deserving of a five-star rating. However, the handling of service charges could be improved. When I requested the check, I mentioned that I would be paying with Apple Pay. Before completing the transaction, I asked the server how I should handle the tip--whether I should specify the tip amount before paying or write it on the receipt afterward. He told me I could simply write it on the receipt. After paying, I noticed that a $10 service charge had been added without my consent. Since Apple Pay refunds can be complicated, I chose not to dispute it. However, I believe customers should have the choice to add service charges and tips rather than having them imposed automatically. Considering the excellent food and service but also this issue, I've given the restaurant an overall four-star rating. read more

FIVE STAR PLUS!! Omg. There were some locals there and they were fun as hell. That tells you something about a local establishment. They said they go there every day. I now know why the bartender and the host have been there over 50 years together. I got the tofu broccoli, the lettuce, wrap, vegetables And it was crazy then somebody has a sense of humor because I got a Japanese beer and a Chinese beer. Super cool place there. I've been visiting this restaurant since 2000... It's every bit as good as any Chinese restaurant I have visited in New York or out west or anywhere else in the United States. Upscale, wonderfully fun for a group as they have round tables that seat up to 10. The food is the highest quality and the staff always friendly. David has been there for as long as I remember and always a gracious host. Most recently I took my new sales team here for A "get to know you" group dinner and we left all smiles. As a Georgia Local, the food here is HORRIBLE. Like wow $80 for 2 entrée and 2 soups. Plus getting food poisoning the next day and feeling feverish. Me and my friend both got sick the next day. We ordered house lomein and it was overcooked with low quality meats. The salt and pepper shrimp was so mediocre, look like a cheap Chinese buffet food. Save your money and trips going to the toilet. As a huge foodie in Georgia, this place is overhyped with their old celebrity pictures. Tourist skip this place and go to Doraville for better ethnic food. read more

When we arrived, we started with the spring rolls. They were delicious, and the spicy mustard was the best I've ever had. The seafood noodle soup from Spicy Anna's was one of the best dishes. We eat here once every year while attending convention because it's one of the few decent Chinese restaurant in Downtown Atlanta. Great location right off AmericasMart. Service staff is always friendly and attend to us frequently even when it's real busy. Been here so many times over the years and the staff quality is always good. They are just busy all the time so you won't get the same attention level as other really fancy restaurants, but it's great for a Chinese food joint. Ambiance is very good. They really put thoughts into the decoration and lighting, it's definitely one of the better decorated Chinese restaurant I've been to. The only reason I rate Hsu's 4 star is because of the food. Being from the bay area with lots of authentic Chinese food, Hsu's food is decent at best. Their menu choice is pretty generic, the same as every other Chinese restaurant with nothing that really stand out. We've never had a bad dish here, but then again, nothing really out-standing or ground breaking neither. read more

Yumm - E. Was in town visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday and yelped chines food. This place was right by our hotel with decent reviews. It closed at 9 and I was worried that we had to get there way before 9 in order to be seated (considering these other spots in the ATL) but that was not the case. They were seating and greeting people even when we left at around 8:30. We were greeted by who I'm assuming was the owner and our server was amazing. Didn't get his name but he was super attentive, made great recommendations. The place is not super fancy, but it reminded me of the old school Bay Area Chinese spots. Simple, authentic with good food. I ordered egg drop soup, which wasn't on the dinner menu and omg it was sooooo good, thick broth with thick real egg drops. It was lovely and needed on this freezing night. We also got the Mongolian beef. It was sweet and great with a ton of onions. I love onions. They could have been grilled a bit more, but they were decent enough. The chow mein.. or was it lo mein? Was really good. It was only the 2 of us and we finished everything. Can't wait to come back! I've been trying to eat here for years. Of the many times I've been in town they have been closed on each time. I finally got the try the recently and tried the exceptional looking and highly recommended Mongolian Beef. Sadly it was almost excellent but fell short in a very disappointing way. I like my Mongolian Beef slightly spicy and a touch of sweet Their beef is over sweet. It's as if they coat it in a sugar, granulated sugar. The egg rolls were ok as well.
