I've started the journey of looking for the best Chinese food restaurants in the city and Bao Gogo was a great first start! The service was very quick and efficient: we were addressed and seated promptly and our server stopped by regularly to check on us for ordering and any additional needs. The restaurant is quaint, but had mixed seating for various party sizes and they have outdoor seating which would be great for a nice day outside! Now on to the food! It was just the two of us, so we didn't order a feast, but we got some typical items you'd get dining at a Chinese restaurant. First, we got the egg rolls (8/10) -- they were very crispy with a flavorful pork combination inside and the duck sauce was the perfect complementary touch. Next were the original fried wings (8) -- they were not breaded, which was different from the traditional breaded wing i'm used to experiencing at Chinese restaurants but i actually think i prefer the non-breaded version. Although cooked differently, it still had the customary Chinese restaurant wing flavor with a nice crunchy exterior. The wings can also be lemon, garlic, and cajun. I would be curious about how the other flavors would be with the non-breaded preparation. Next, the fried rice (7) -- very standard fried rice, got it with chicken (can also be ordered with pork, beef, shrimp, vegetable, or a combination). The texture of the rice was great, seasonings weren't strong, almost like something was missing, possibly an additional textural component, but still a solid order of fried rice. I'd try the veggie option next time to see if the added veggies kick it up a notch. Now the show stopper was the dry fried string beans (9.5/10), I've been to China and eating these really took me back!! The combination of their aromatics and spices was perfection and texturally, the string beans were cooked well and retained a nice crunchy exterior. Initially, we paired the string beans with the fried rice but when we paired it with the white rice... mind blowing! Must get these AND must pair it with white rice. Wow! I hit up Bao GoGo on a Wednesday afternoon for a quick lunch. The space itself is solid - medium-sized but with plenty of indoor seating, so you can actually sit down and eat in peace without feeling crammed. I ordered the Mongolian chicken lunch special and added beef. Honestly, it was just okay. The flavor was pretty flat and lacked any real kick. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't memorable. With so many great food options in Atlanta, "just okay" means I probably won't be back. Cool, clean space, but the food didn't move the needle. read more

I was craving beef fried rice, so I started to search and came across Bao Gogo. With a good amount of strong reviews, I decided to try it. I've seen it as I've ridden down memorial a few times, anyway. I ordered beef fried rice, pork dumplings, and spicy string beans online for a whopping 54.99! I was outraged, but with such good reviews, I decided to take the risk. There is a parking garage and a few street spaces next to the restaurant. Waking in, the restaurant is clean and the service was friendly. When I got home and tasted the food, I was slightly disappointed. It's not bad food, but it was phenomenal enough to justify the 54.99 price tag. My least favorite thing was the rice. Again, not bad, just needed some more flavor. On the plus side, the portions were generous and could easily serve multiple people or be eaten over a few days. Overall, I think this place is worth trying if you're in the area, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to come back. read more

Tried Bao Gogo to go go last night, and it was only so so. We had a bunch of different dishes and some were good but others did not meet the expectations that I had for this place. The menu here is a bit sprawling so knowing what to get could potentially be the key. We had the classic (as opposed to the spicy) fries. They were pretty tasteless and unsurprisingly were a poor choice for taking away. Friend mushrooms and (pork) soup dumplings were better, although the latter also didn't take to go so well. We also had the lemon pepper wings, which were fine, but again, maybe not the best choice given the focus here (someway dry and not as flavorful as I would expect). Mongolian beef came as a good portion and was decent. The spice and flavor through me off some (more of a curry flavor?) and wasn't my favorite. Kung pao chicken was good. It was the right amount of spicy and probably best of the larger dishes. I was directed to the free parking in the garage behind memorial. Food came very quickly. After tip and tax it was close to $90, which given the location/reputation of Bao Gogo wasn't that surprising. If I could give this 3.5 stars I would as I would come back but wouldn't rush to do so and given the experience would also definitely not take the food to go again without refining choices. read more

Returned and had an unpleasant experience where I was served raw chicken. They removed the item from the bill thankfully but failed to apologize and visibly were upset with the exchange after we paid. Very uncomfortable with returning although the food is so good when they get it right. read more

We visited on a Saturday night and the place was packed--we actually snagged the last seats in the house! The atmosphere is very casual, and they don't serve alcohol, which was fine by me. I had the Thai milk tea instead, and it was delicious. They also offer homemade limeade that looked great, as well as Coke products. The service was friendly and attentive; they even pulled out a chair for me. Despite how 'slammed' they were with a massive volume of to-go orders, our food arrived quickly. The waiter took our order on an iPad, which I appreciated because it allowed us to confirm everything on the screen. As for the food, it was fine, but nothing truly stood out. The pork buns were a bit of a letdown and were really only saved by the sauce. The beef lacked flavor, and the soup dumplings were just okay--to be honest, I prefer the frozen ones from H Mart. The highlights for us were definitely the wontons and the milk tea. I'll likely try this spot again to find a 'gem' on the menu since I probably just ordered the wrong things. It's a convenient alternative to my favorite spots in Ponce City Market, which can be a pain for parking. Next time, I'll likely opt for takeout rather than sitting in. read more

So I got sesame fried tofu and the sesame chicken with white rice a vegetable spring roll and the food was good but I wish that they cut the tofu into smaller pieces and I got fried rice instead. No shade to white rice I just wasn't prepared obviously lol the place seemed popular so upon us being some out of towners so I toted right on down to find them. Parking was weird but i managed to get it together and get my issue. The place was culturally decorated and felt like a chill vibe and I love me a vibe! Service was cool and staff was friendly. I saw this place as it was being built. I didn't realise they had other locations in the city. Always excited to try a seemingly authentic Chinese spot. I walked in and asked if they had a particular eggplant dish but the cashier wasn't knowledgeable. The restaurant manager came to the front and recommended this basil and tofu dish pictured. It did not look like the Chinese eggplant, which is purple unless they peeled it. Also I don't know why the menu describes it as a casserole. That is a terrible description. But it tastes pretty much like the traditional eggplant dishes. Although I would've preferred some more onions and peppers, I think the basil gave it a nice kick! Located across from Madison Yard, with 2-hour validated parking in the shared garage, which is a nice plus. We were greeted right away and seated immediately. Pricing felt very reasonable for the quality and portions. We ordered the soup pork dumplings, egg drop soup, crab rangoons, and braised beef soup. Overall, everything was good--probably some of the better Chinese food I've had in the city, though not quite the best. My only small critique: the crab rangoons were more cream cheese than crab, which was a bit disappointing. Can I give zero stars? As a Chinese American who has grown up in the restaurant industry, this place is not good. Just ordered takeout pork fried rice (for the bf) and Mongolian beef. We got chicken fried rice and the "Mongolian beef" was some sort of curry situation. Never in my life has Mongolian beef beef curry-esque. I go to the movies in this area all the time,AMC right across the street. So I been keeping an eye on their opening. I had previewed their menu awhile back. I saw they had Dan Dan noodles. So this made me even more excited to try them once they opened. Well today they were finally opened. I walked and was quickly seated. Of course I already without hesitation wanted to order Dan Dan noodles so i did. I guess i was feeling alittle extra cause something called Cong qing fried chicken caught my eye,so i ordered that too. Dan Dan noodles They were abit diffent from what im use to,but in a good way. First instead of using a flat noodle,they use more of a spaghetti type noodle. The sauce was a bit different. There was the typical spiciness found with this dish,but theirs also had a bit of sweetness to it. The flavored pared well though. I quite enjoyed it. Chong qing fried chicken This was very spicy, however for my taste it wasn't too spicy.a nice combination of spices onions,garlic and fried chicken. The portion size let me know I could have gone with either or. But i will also say $27 for 2 dishes and a drink wasn't to bad either. That price was without tip. Opened just 3 weeks ago, Bao GoGo in Reynoldstown is a bright, clean, beautifully decorated place. Food is fresh, packed with flavor, and maybe even made with love?? My tummy often hurts after Chinese food, but NOT at Bao GoGo - I left feeling light and easy. The Mongolian Chicken was the highlight for me. A special nod to General Tso's Tofu. We arrived around 9:00 PM, and the restaurant was nearly empty--just one table finishing up. Despite that, it took 7-10 minutes just to receive water, and no one ever came to take our drink orders. As we sat there watching staff stand around doing nothing, the lack of service became more and more frustrating. Our table was never greeted, acknowledged, or checked on. After waiting roughly 15-20 minutes with no interaction at all, we decided to leave. What made the experience even worse was that no one noticed or said a word as we walked out. This was easily one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a long time--and that's especially disappointing because I've visited this restaurant twice before without issue. I went here for hot and sour soup because I can't find a place I like. While the hot and sour soup was loaded and it was full of spice it did not have a sour taste so I was disappointed. I also had the Rainbow soup dumplings which were fine however I prefer the bite sized ones, just personal preference. Some of the worst food I've had. Nothing is fresh. The cucumber salad was old and sour and when I asked when it was made they said they didn't know. My husband's dish with the flounder was also great. The restaurant is not large but it's a good location for a restaurant in city with simply beautiful design. I saw a sign in the restaurant that it's free for 2-hour in-building parking if you struggle in finding a parking spot on the road. We're so excited to have Bao GoGo in the neighborhood! First of many visits. As vegetarians, we're excited so many of the dishes can be made with tofu. Today we got steamed veggie dumplings that were light, flavorful and delicious. Love the peanut sauce! The vegetable spring rolls were also light, tasty and great. Ordered shrimp and broccoli with garlic sauce this evening and I definitely can pass on the dish. It was too sweet. Like it's so overly sweet, although I asked for it to be spicy that I will discard of the leftovers. And although there's an up charge for shrimp, they use baby shrimp in the dish. Typically dishes like this use medium or jumbo shrimp. I wanted to like this establishment but I'll continue to search for a good place to grab Chinese food. The sauce was a mustardy curry(?) sauce with plenty of Szechuan peppercorn numbing. It was not that good. Placed an order online arrived and while the family in front of me was greeted I was not. It took 15 minutes to get someone's attention. Had i not have ordered online I would've left. Several people walked right past me not acknowledging me. When they did no apology for the wait or nothing. My today was to be ready 15 minutes before my arrival, the had to look it up and I had to wait. The quality of food is just okay. Wanted to try it out since it was within walking distance. I'd say try at your own risk maybe they had a bad day but can't say I'd rush back for mediocre food, long wait and poor customer service. I don't want to make this a race thing but I did notice a difference in the way the person before me was greeted seated and had a server while I stood there still waiting for someone to notice I walked thru the door. Customers behind me may had influenced the fact that I was there and next in line to be serviced as well. Hopefully someone else's experience is different and better but again the food is just okay with terrible customer service during my visit. read more
