Wow! My companion…read moreand I stopped in on an early Saturday evening after months of "you know, we should try that place sometime." We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon.

We had the sweet potato appetizer and the pork belly. They weren't the most composed dishes but the flavors were there. Unfortunately I ordered a steak medium. The first time I cut into it was rare at best. Completely red inside and blood all over the plate. Sent it back and they sent the same steak back out and it was medium rare at best. I ate around the edges. They did comp the meal which was appreciated. We will give them another shot due to the positive appetizers and service

The appetizers were well worth the price and were served pretty quickly! I had the Ahi Tuna Nachos and my husband had the Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts. Both were delicious and the right amount for a heavy appetizer for a Sunday afternoon! To top it off, we also had some drink specials that included the Frosted Strawberry and draft Blue Moon. We topped off the afternoon with the recommended pineapple upside down cake and didn't turn back. It was decadent and the prefect size for two. The staff was pleasant, but I felt should have been more attentive for a sparse bar. The restaurant was unique in design and trendy, and had a nice flow of customers for a Sunday afternoon. All in all, would do again for the happy hour specials! Quality of food: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Overall cost and experience: 4.5/5

Ok to good food but great brewery. A+ service from the employees here both times I have been here…read more Location is clean, spacious, not loud & comfortable. My wife got the same Chicken Salad sandwich again, it's still a winner, seafood chowder was satisfactory to good according to her, she took the balance back to our hotel & she had it in the morning as she had a early morning meeting & we had a microwave, she changed her opinion to great , saying it tasted even better in the morning I guess from it being dehydrated. Pretzel was great, I had a chicken pot pie which I though was ok, it was basically a chicken stew served with a puff pastry in there instead of the stew in a puff pastry, It tasted clean & light lacking body so I ordered a side of lime rice which worked for me. The star of this place is really their custom brews, I thigh think the food here is 4to 4 1/2 star but their brews make it a 5 star restaurant. Their birch beer & bourbon ginger are perfectly balanced flavor & refreshing & I also bought a bottle of their express Old Fashion to take home, 10/10 satisfaction. Even in you are not a alcohol consumer, the Location, atmosphere & quality of service coupled with good , clean food makes this a great restaurant. A definite must visit in Hershey.

The best word that comes to mind is unmemorable. The…read moreatmosphere is genuinely nice for a bar: industrial with exposed brick and those garage doors that give it a cool, open vibe. It reminded me a lot of Gasoline Street Coffee Company in Pittsburgh. Service was good despite the light staffing. On our Friday evening visit, as far as I could see there was only one person handling the bar and tables, but she was friendly, attentive, and handled everything with a smile. Unfortunately, the two biggest reasons most people head to a bar/restaurant--food and drinks--fell a bit flat. The food was fine, but nothing stood out, and portions/prices felt a little high for the quality. The biggest downside was how quiet it was. A Friday night with only 2-3 other patrons made the place feel empty and a bit discouraging. No one wants slammed service from overworked staff, but the opposite isn't ideal either. If you're in the area and want a low-key spot with good vibes and don't mind basic food, it's worth a try. But if you're looking for a lively scene or standout eats, you might want to keep driving.

My friend rated his pulled pork sandwich a 4/10 without the bbq sauce. With the sauce, it went down to 3/10. The fries were terrible. The wings we ordered were all drums and definitely reheated and overcooked. When I picked up the bone, it was cold, but the meat was hot. My other friend said her salad was salty. I guess it should have been a hint that the food wasn't great when the place was empty on a Sunday evening at 7pm.

The cocktails alone are worth the visit. The bartenders really know their craft, and the alcohol selection, including local beers, is solid. My only real issue is brunch. Every time I've visited after 12 p.m. (brunch is served until 2 p.m.), there's been a problem--either they're no longer taking food orders, the kitchen is backed up with a 45-minute wait, or they've simply run out of food. It comes off unprofessional and could definitely be handled better. I've noticed this becoming a growing trend during brunch service in general, and while some people suggest arriving as early as 10 a.m. for the best experience, consistency matters. If you're offering brunch, you should be properly staffed and prepared to serve guests throughout the full service window. Period. It's especially frustrating when you've traveled specifically to experience their culinary offerings and hit a wall like that. Overall, if you're looking for a spot that feels like a New York-style dive bar with elevated drinks and solid food--if you catch it at the right time--this place delivers. Just plan strategically if brunch is your goal.
