Someone on staff liked our American Express Platinum card so much that they spent over $1800.00 online between Spectrum and TMobile. We now realize it wasn't returned to us at check signing. We didn't notice at the time because we were laser focused, interrogating our daughter's new fancy man. Thankfully, Am Ex was on it and sent us fraud notifications. Another win for food in MS! To start, the service staff was really friendly and super accommodating. There were several large parties in and they were hopping but our two top did not get forgotten or neglected! We started with the beef tamales topped with Chili. Super savory with a hint of heat. So delicious. I then had the shrimp and grits and I damn near fell out of my seat! So Good! I love food. I love to eat food. I like to try regional food. Wow! This was so flavorful and made my mouth feel so alive! Shrimp was plump and crisp and the sauce was smooth and buttery! The grits really held up to the sauce! Huck's continually receives solid reviews by locals and travelers alike. I too would rate it as a solid restaurant, but nothing spectacular. I was excited, this being my first time in MS, to read others reviewing the cajun/creole influence being close to Louisiana, but I guess I need to get even closer? I was in a party of 8 people and we all ordered a variety of local beers and wine. While many reviews suggest that service is slow, I truly think it's just the pace that southerner's practice and expect at establishments that is reflected. My initial order of wine had strong notes of vinegar so I sent it back, but the follow-up glass took it's sweet time in arriving simply due to the pace at which the service operates. We ordered two appetizer portions of fried green tomatoes (see pictures), and we all agreed they were quite tasty despite the lack of presentation. The remoulade was decent and the additional small shrimp made it unique enough to pass on the unimaginative plating. Our meals, for the most part, were solid (hence the three stars), but I was particularly underwhelmed by my redfish. I'd hoped with the toppings and such a classic cajun dish that I'd be greeted with a well seasoned fish, sauce, and accouterment. The dish that was delivered, however, was plain looking and tasting. I had substituted hush puppies instead of salad (partially because of other reviews, but also because I rarely get hushpuppies in the north). They were, however, dry and rather unflavored. I ended up wishing I'd just gotten the salad. If I was back in Columbus, MS again, I'd probably wanna try some of the other places available before I headed back to Huck's. Then again, I wouldn't be upset if my cohort wanted to return there, for I'd want to try out a few other things on the menu before rendering further judgement. Just know if you need a solid joint for everyday food with a slight cajun flair, this is your place! read more

One of the local people recommended this place and it was absolutely amazing. The environment was awesome, definitely good for groups. I got the crawfish nachos for a starter. They were served on a bed of homestyle potato chips that had a barbecue kind of seasoning. The crawfish bites were perfectly cooked. The cheese remolaude was delicious. Absolutely loved these nachos. And if you're not super hungry they could serve as a meal for one. For main course I got the beef medallions and wow these were amazing. Cooked perfectly and so tender. So savory. Absolutely amazing. Food was some of the best in town but the only thing stopping me from giving a five star was the cocktails that were served were unbalanced.

Some food needs work but their Classic Ribeyes and dirty rice are amazing. They're almost always busy so serving is a tad slow at times and they dont allow carryout on weekends which I find a little disappointing. read more

I recently tried this place again. I sat at the bar. The service was much better, so was the steak. Still, no bread sticks with the salad. But the bone in ribeye is back!!! Really cool place downtown. Was looking forward to dining here. Ordered an Old Fashion for me and shrimp and crab Parmesan dip and fried pickles for appetizers for the table. Everything was very good. Main course was the New York strip med rare, asparagus, and garlic mashed. The sides were good. The strip was not. I know a strip will have some non rendered fat and inedible portions. This was loaded with them. I did attempt to dissect around these but at some point I gave up. Despite the medium rare, the steak was also tough to cut through. The taste was fine, it was just not a quality cut. I paid for the steak as I was told that this was a characteristic of the cut. I just didn't want to get into a pi**ing match with the cook or manager mostly because I was tired and our server was just the best. read more

The meal was fantastic and we both enjoyed our perfectly cooked steaks. However we had a waiter that really seemed to care less about us even being there. He had no personality and at times seemed we were bothering him when we asked for refills or condiments. Food is amazing but just hope you get a better waiter than we had. read more

We came to Columbus for a meeting and stopped in at Huck's. We tried the boudin balls. They were good with just the right amount of spice (& kick). My husband had the stuffed tenderloin & I had the Chicken Huck. The portion sizes were really nice. The sauce on the tenderloin was rich adding to the over all flavor. My chicken was tasty but I did have to remove it from the corn masque choux so that I could enjoy it. The corn was just too salty to eat (so we're my mashed potatoes). I've never been one that salts heavily though. We both got asparagus and it was really good. Great wait staff. Our waitress kept our glasses full and was super polite. read more

Y'all. I was SO EXCITED about this place. I moved in three doors down and had this idea that I'd be a regular fixture here. They have great food, albeit mostly heavy food and somewhat of a redundant entree list. They have a great bar program. Lots of good bourbon, whiskey and beer. Well, my first night in town, I went by myself and got a table. I had a steak and 2 beers. I was enjoying my meal in my new town. My server started kind of cold and just uninterested. Over time and my trying to chat with her, she warmed up. I go to pay my bill and I had already been given my check and received my credit card receipt. It was then that I realized that my card had been authorized on a different check/table. I sat at my table for 10 minutes, at least waiting for my server to look in my direction. When I finally got her attention and waived her over to point out the issue, which I didn't my any accusations. I was met with an air of annoyance and not even an apology. At this moment, I realized that it very likely wasn't an accident. After that, I lived three doors down for 6-8 months and stepped foot in once more then. After, I've been twice. Thankfully I haven't had that server again and every experience after has been much better. Just be warned, look at your checks carefully. read more

I have heard so much of this restaurant that it was a must try. Atmosphere was awesome, wait time - not bad at all, following covid guidelines with masks and seating - great. Service was ok - hoping our waitress was tired from a long shift and not unfriendly as it seemed. Food - go to Sonic - it was nothing to write about. Steak was mostly fat and extremely overcooked.
