MVP Maple Butter Taco with Bacon
    Brandy D.

The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. We were there on a Saturday at 8:30 and were able to sit right away. I ordered the new maple butter taco and it was okay. Definitely didn't feel out like the picture on menu. The potatoes look like a lot but the plate was small and it was three bites full. The biscuit and gravy were bland.

Alanta (my niece) goes to school there and we were so excited to shop, sip, explore and eat at Fancy Girl Farms! John and I actually went 2 days in a row- Saturday our plans had shifted to later in the morning- so I jumped up and said lets go check out the farm instead of sitting around waiting for the college girl. Coffee, farm stand, nursery & garden tour was what awaited us Saturday. I grabbed a coffee from their sweet little cafe- it was scrumptious. The stroll through the gardens was blissful- it had rained and was going to rain more, so next to no one was out in the gardens- peace and quiet, yes please! The farm stand/ nursery was loaded with goods and I was compiling a shopping list! We returned Sunday for lunch and there was a crazy line quick when they opened- great for business! All the big families were there early to make sure they got seats. We had a party of 6 and were one of the first tables sat. Our server was fabulous, she had our drinks out fast & bread for the table. We all ordered the fried chicken and all were smart enough to split plates (since we were all driving hours home that same day). Sides around the table- mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, creamed corn with bacon, collard greens, black eyed peas, mac-n-cheese, fries & I'm probably missing something. We all passed food around to try too- so those sides, I tried most of them! Chicken- we got the mixed chicken white and dark meat and it was juicy, salty, crunchy skinned goodness. Top 3 for sure (truly I think I've only had one better). Mashed potatoes- too dense, very flavorful- but needs milk, sour cream, something to help loosen it Sweet potato casserole- guess what, also too dense and also wildly flavorful! The textures did not match the flavor punch Black eyed peas- delicious, really the best I've had Collard Greens- the table was bragging about how good it was Mac-n-cheese- very creamy, just the way I like it Fries- cooked perfectly Creamed Corn with bacon- very good and I loved that you can tell it's freshly made, the color! Creamy white, not artificial yellow I completely forgot about dessert- even after hearing my sister go on and on about weekly cobblers! That and the 15 layer chocolate cake- fifteen! Alright, I'll just need to go back for dessert!

Let me start with the good: this place looks like it knows what it's doing. The ambiance is simple,…read moretasteful, and well-designed--perfect for a cute dinner out. We were greeted with a smile the second we walked in, and our server was friendly and attentive the whole time. A+ for vibes and service. Now, the food... oof. We started with the appetizer special of the night, which, shockingly, was the best thing we had--and it was aggressively mid. Everything that followed? Two thumbs down. The peas I ordered as a side; I swear were marinated in red onion slivers for several decades. Even after picking out all the visible onion, (as shown in pictures) it still tasted like Shrek's bathwater. If I had ordered this on a first date, I would've just gone home to save us both the trauma of onion breath. There's no way a single person has ever eaten this dish and said, "Wow, that was delightful." I'd actually pay money to see the facial expressions of anyone taking a bite. My partner's mashed potatoes? So dry and dense I could've thrown them at a wall and they'd stick. Come back the next morning and they'd be holding up drywall. Not a single drop of moisture in sight. I asked for crushed red pepper for my flatbread (thinking maybe it could be saved). No - No pepper flakes. Apparently none of their flatbreads are allowed joy or spice. Even if they did have red pepper, I don't think it would've saved it. Best thing we had all night? My partner's chicken. And even that was dry. So, that says a lot. Final verdict: come here for a drink and a snack before going somewhere else for the actual meal. It's a great pregame spot, but if you're hungry-hungry, keep walking.
