great food, the bolognese was incredible, only 26 dollars, definitely recommend this spot. the menu had great variety with multiple types of cuisine including Italian, Japanese, and Mexican. incredible drink and wine list, the carrot cake was exceptional. the waiters were kind and food came in about 20 minutes after ordering. The restaurant had a beautiful interior with great ambience and a slightly quieter enviroment. Hudson 29 offers a culinary journey that's as diverse as it is delicious. Last minute dinner plans, went to Hudson 29. The dining room was full and there was a wait, but the patio was available with heaters. Happy that we sat on the patio. It was warm, quite and great service. Nathan our server was attentive, knew the menu and gave recommendations. The black bean burger was delicious. The roasted corn and avocado was a good side with the burger. The prices are on the higher end, but for special occasion or a date night it's perfect. read more

Why go for sushi? Ordered a king kong roll b/c others seems generic. It was fine but won't order again. I'm not a fan of complicated rolls. Cheese roll appetizer - On to something. Looks good and some of it is OK. Need different rolls that are more moist and soft. These break apart like a biscuit. Sea bass good. Not awesome. Prime rib, not great. Sauce bland and prime rib not the softest and tendor. Don't order. Mashed potatoes good. Scallop dish is light and pretty good. Scallops cooked a med-rare which you don't find. No sauce on them and could be a little larger. Basically it's a salad with some scallops. Deserts - Sheet cake rish and good if you like chocolate. Upside down pine apple donuts are a must try. Been holding out because I'm a little worried that Cameron Mitchell has basically monopolized the Cbus restaurant market. Even if the food/service is hit or miss, people still flock to his establishments. Anyways, the fiancé gave me a CM gift card for a work promotion and we ventured out to lunch last Sunday. And I am absolutely glad that I did and cannot wait to go back! Here are my tasting notes: Cheese butter rolls: If you like carbs and dairy (which I do), just get these. Not earth shattering or a revelation, but this is solid comfort food done right. Steak and shrimp tempura sushi: This is now one of my favorite sushi rolls in town. Every component is perfectly executed; from the rare filet mignon to the spicy mayo. Cantonese noodle salad: I love me an old school Asian salad and this one is awesome. I love the fact that every item in this salad is perfectly chopped/cut including the cucumber and wonton strips. I would've preferred a few more of the noodles and perhaps less chicken (and usually there is never enough protein!). But overall, a solid salad. Crisp buttermilk chicken sandy: probably my least favorite. I expect a $14 fried chicken sandwich to somewhat knock my socks off, but this one was just ok. Honestly, I would prefer a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's over Hudson 29's version. However, the colcannon potatoes that accompanied the sandwich were delicious (mashed with horseradish) and I can definitely see myself ordering this one again. Fresh fruit juice: Both the fiancé and I were super hungover! So, drinks were out of the question. But, though not advertised, you are able to partake of fresh fruit juices. We tried a grapefruit juice and a lemonade and both were super duper refreshing. Lastly, docking one star because of the price. The food and ambiance was great, and the service fabulous. However, the cost vs. what you get is not proportionate, especially considering that this is not really a special occasion restaurant (at least not judging by the menu). read more

We sat and ate at the bar. Our server was top notch. My husband loved his draft beer. My mixed drink was good, but not good enough to order a second one. The Cheese Stuffed House Baked Butter Rolls were a wonderful start to our meal. They were served with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping. This appetizer includes three rolls, and easily serves three people. There were only two of us, and we divided the third roll in half and tried not to eat it before our entrees arrived. We will definitely order this again. I ordered the St. Louis BBQ Ribs. I love ribs. I order them pretty much everywhere I dine. These were not good. They weren't bad, but I won't be ordering them here again. They lacked any flavor aside from pepper. I'm not sure how a piece of meat with so many herbs and spices slathered on it could taste as flavorless as it did. I only ate half of them. I took the other half home and put some store-bought sauce on them before finishing them later in the evening. The ribs were served with fries, which were really good, and slaw that was also very tasty. My husband had the French Dip sandwich. He loved it. I was jealous. It looked wonderful. I may be ordering it on our next visit. We split the Texas Sheet Cake for dessert. It was good, but I'll try something else next time. It's simple and done just right with two ground daily beef patties, American cheese, sweet pickle mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, tomato and onion. Nice sear and seasoning on the patties and I can't explain it, but shredded lettuce does it for me every time! It's an old school diner burger elevated to finer dining. For dessert, I ventured outside my normal chocolate/peanut butter realm and went with the pineapple upside down cake donut holes with caramel dipping sauce. Love this place. I like how the bar is setup in the middle and offers excellent views of the place, making no area better than an other. It allows an easy flow. Just my opinion on that. Went with a good buddy recently. I was in the mood for a good steak and Caesar salad. Fairly common, I know, but solid. On the Keto diet. Lol. Buddy have the Ribeye. Couldn't have been more pleased. Cooked to order(medium rare). The staff are very well trained and converse very smoothly. Felt right at home with the bartenders. They can make a great, fresh drink. Hudson 29 was a wonderful surprise. I have not ever been here and it was a favorite place of my date on this evening, as he used to frequent the restaurant a few years ago. Upon entering, we were greeted by Annie at the Host/Hostess stand. She was so kind and warm, welcoming and friendly. Absolutely the greeting you would also hope to receive-especially, as you are starting a special date night. We had a reservation but decided to sit at the bar. And, Annie handled the adjustment in our preference smoothly. I highly recommend this option. It was lively and yet we were still able to enjoy an intimate experience for the two of us. The bar staff was INCREDIBLE! I cannot say enough about Yordan and Caitlyn. The bar was busy and yet, they were attentive, friendly, accommodating to our dietary restrictions and requests for menu adjustment. We were never left to want or need anything and they anticipated every need. As a bourbon-lover, the bar well well-stocked with fantastic bourbon options! However, I was leaning towards Tequila on this given evening and Yordan went above and beyond to make me a delicious, off-menu prohibition-style cocktail. It was smooth, inventive and exactly what I was hoping to enjoy! I will absolutely be back for this! The happy hour menu is fantastic! An actual offering that provides variety, value AND is delicious! Sushi, dips, etc. All extremely reasonably priced. For dinner, I had the Sea Bass and my handsome date had the Ribs. I have to admit, I indulged. And, after doing so, found it difficult not to beg for more. I truly recommend Hudson 29 for a date-night out, a happy hour with friends or colleagues, a family dinner, a celebration dinner or just a local spot to enjoy watching a game at the bar AND where you don't have to sacrifice delicious food to do it. read more

I'm giving overall 4 stars as I love atmosphere and the bar area but this particular visit only gets 3 stars! Disappointing is the way I describe the service and food. We sat in the restaurant and low light on the table was a minor problem. Our table happened to be the one without overhead lights and it was dim. Had our wine glasses long before our wine! The special sounded wonderful but not for $35 - basically fish and salad! I wanted fish so ended up with the fish sandwich but without the bun. The fish was over cooked which was a shame because I liked the cabbage slaw and remoulade. The dish came with french fries, our waiter said we could choose a different side (not mentioning an additional cost). I chose the roasted corn and avocado side. It was OK lacking flavor. Upon receiving our check we were charged for the side, we disputed as we were not told and the management agreed to take off the charge. I will go back but only to the bar area and will stick to sushi. Parking on the street, only a few spots and a undercover garage in the back. read more

My family and I (dietary restrictions) have been going to Hudson 29 for a few years. We generally love all the CAM restaurants and can always find food to eat. Unfortunately, the take out service at Hudson 29 has turned us off of eating there anymore. The food is generally good, like most CAM restaurants, but I've lost count of the number of issues we've had with their take out, and some in person requests. They consistently mess it up, either through not delivering the food correctly or through forgetting items. We've had food and wine left out of orders, and dairy or gluten free requests not handled correctly. This has happened repeatedly over the years, making me think the issue is not a kitchen or staff one, but a management one. I will happily continue to frequent other CAM restaurants, and suggest them to others, but I would suggest anyone with dietary concerns, or anyone ordering takeout, stay away from Hudson 29. read more

I am never unhappy with the food and service at any Cameron Mitchell restaurant. This is no exception. The menu has a variety of options. Sushi, ribs, flatbreads, taquitos...what?? For a person like me this is amazing because I love options and variety. As usual the detail on the food is amazing. From the sauces to the fine knife cuts on everything, including the scallions. Nothing goes unnoticed on the plates. As I watched fellow diners, I noticed every plate leaving the tables empty. Good sign always! Right there with the food is their service! You are always acknowledged by someone and if you make eye contact they are right there to see if you need something. Management is always walking around and talking to guests which makes me feel at home. Manager Bill is always a kind soul and checks back frequently to make sure things are going smoothly. Service and food amazing! Hard to find a place that does both smashingly! Highly recommend this place and any other CMR restaurant! read more

The night started with amazing cocktails by the fireplace. The Paloma, French 75, and the bourbon and honey were all rated 10/10 by the ladies I was with. Once we were seated we enjoyed the King Kong sushi, fish sandwich and the black bean burger. Sushi and Fish sandwich were excellent. I rarely am blown away by a restaurant but tonight the chef came out and brought my steak out after they mixed my order up. I have very clear instructions when I order a steak butterflied medium well no pink but not burnt. My first steak came out rare! But it was immediately corrected and all the food was Delicious! If you have a chance to go order anything with tomatoes because they were phenomenal. The mashed potatoes w chives were also pretty good. All the food was good! We started off with the cheese roll appetizer, along with the wine country board. Both were delicious along with a couple glasses of red wine. Their wine selection was very good, especially by the glass. We sampled the Black Stallion Cabernet, the Trefethen red, and a Spanish Tempranillo. We ordered various entrées, cheeseburger, flatbread, sushi, salmon, rigatoni Bolognese. I tasted almost every entrée and they were all fantastic, everyone commented how amazing everything was. Really enjoyed it. The service was attentive, efficient and friendly. The food selection was varied, interesting and appealing. You can also sit at the bar and have appetizers and a drink. I like what they are doing here and I hope to be back. The appetizers were delicious. The main course sizes are enormous and very well prepared. One of the favorites was the Pasta Bolognese made with shredded beef. It was a delicious and filling dish. The desserts were very large and delicious as well. My quibble is with the steaks. Simply lovely. Cameron Mitchell does it again. The food and the service (both of which are equally important when dining out in my opinion) are always exquisite at his restaurants, and Hudson 29 is no exception. The layout of the restaurant is a little confusing, as there is a parking garage attached to the restaurant that connects to a side entrance to the restaurant. However, what appeared to be a waiter at a server's station noticed my lost look and not only took me to the reception desk, but looked up my table and took me to the group I was meeting up with. Now that is service when someone goes outside his job description to help a customer. Our waiter was extremely personable and knowledgable on the menu. We ordered what he called "adult sodas". They bottle their own soda and add alcohol to them. I had the bourbon cola and other ladies in my party ordered the grapefruit fresca. The bourbon cola had a nice balance between the bourbon and cola, and had a surprising hint of raspberry that also blended well. I had a sip of my friend's grapefruit fresca (hesitant to order it myself since I am not a grapefruit fan), and it was crisp and refreshing. I would order it in future visits. We had the four cheese rolls for our appetizer. It comes with three rolls and a side of marinara. The rolls were very good; not overwhelmingly cheesy or lacking. However, the marinara could use a little work in my opinion, but I still kept dipping! I had the pepperoni flatbread for my entree. I was pleasantly surprised. The crust was light but with good flavor, and the balance of cheese and pepperoni and taste of each was excellent. I look forward to going back and ordering a heavier entree (prime rib, steak, gerber chicken), as everything looked delicious as I scouted out what waiters were bringing other tables. For dessert, our table ordered the chocolate Texas sheet cake (comes with a scoop of vanilla graeter's ice cream) and the pineapple upside down cake doughnuts. The sheet cake is thin but takes up a whole plate, so definitely a shareable dessert. The pineapple upside down cake doughnuts come in a big pile (maybe 8 or so large doughnut hole sized balls) and have a side of caramel dipping sauce. Both were excellent. I do not like pineapple, but even I was a fan of the doughnuts (there are pineapple chunks baked inside the doughnuts). All in all, excellent food, supreme service, great atmosphere (though a tad on the loud side due to the restaurant being packed). I will definitely be back! read more

We are here on the way to The Ohio State-Notre Dame football game. We were seated promptly and our server was right out for drink orders. I had a delicious martini. The four of split the charcuterie board and the house salad to start. Both were delicious. Three of us had the blackened fish sandwich and everyone thought it was delicious. We came here with family on a Saturday night for dinner. My sister in law made reservations a couple weeks in advance but we ended up with two additional people. The manager did a fantastic job getting our expanded party into a table within 15-20 minutes, we were very impressed! The restaurant is eclectic and modern, not the type of joint I usually find myself in. It was a nice change of pace. Being Restaurant Week, most of our party chose from the special menu offering three courses. I went with the rack of ribs though. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and tasty. My wife was impressed with her sushi and I heard nothing but sounds of approval from around the table. At the conclusion of the main courses, I shared a slice of carrot cake with my wife and it was fantastic. Been eyeing this place for a while. Finally got a 'date-night' to try it out. First of all, it was super nice being able to zip right into the parking garage and go right into the restaurant. Nice when it's really coming down outside. The place is very dim but had a good casual/dressy vibe. I like not feeling underdressed in jeans when some people are in suits....it all works. The wine, food, ect was good. Fantastic appetizers along with a very diverse wine list. The dinner pace was great as well. The one thing that lacked was our server. Did just fine, and that was it. Just lacked that little bit of "wine and dine" we're typically after at a nicer establishment that really sets a five-star evening. read more

Had a really fantastic dinner here this evening. We sat in a private room, for a friends birthday. Started with a sushi roll, that was just right. Really delicious. They didn't have low sodium soy sauce, and they should. Even a lot of sushi restaurants are only serving low sodium now. Trick: cut your soy sauce with half iced water, will halve the sodium and you won't even be able to tell, just put a couple spoonfuls of water into your soy sauce dish. Also had the cheese rolls, which were good, but not great. Flavor was a little flat. Tried the Queso dip, was good, but not great. We also had a charcuterie board, for which I've seen better. The blue cheese was very good, as were the crostini. Dinner I had the steak and cheese enchilada, and it was exceptional. The Molé sauce on the enchilada was perfect, and rivaled some of the best Mexican places. Steak was tender and cooked right on par, perfect medium rare. Full of flavor. The corn salad was a nice touch, tasty, but somehow seemed misplaced with the enchilada and the steak. Salad was also missing a seasoning, perhaps just some salt, maybe a little diced jalapeño or pickled onion would bring it up that final notch. Also tried several bites of the red snapper, and it was delicate, fresh, and had a wonderful mild flavor. The mustard sauces paired well. We had all of the desserts...donut holes with caramel sauce, orange pound cake, Texas sheet cake, and carrot cake. Each one exceeded expectations. The donut holes were the best. The Texas sheet cake was too light for sheet cake and the icing wasn't the best. I've had much better, including my own. This is not to say, it wasn't good, it was. But if I had to settle on one dessert it would be the donut holes (which of the four, having never had them I would have chosen them last.). The caramel sauce was homemade, buttery and rich, tasting of dark brown sugar. Paired so well with the wonderfully executed donut holes. Good service. Food came out surprisingly fast, though well timed so we could finish appetizers. Also for having such an eclectic menu, and being able to execute such diverse dishes without flaw is super impressive. You can also tell the ingredients are quality, well sourced, and fresh. I heard a lot about this place before I went there. I really like the atmosphere there. So cozy and homey. I called twice before I was able to get in. It is pricy place. However, the food wasn't that great! I mean it was good but for the price no! I could get better food in half of this price. There wasn't any thing fancy or out-ordinary! I was with a party of about 11-12 people and they were very aommodating since it was a surprise birthday dinner. I am in awe of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants... They get it right. Every. Single. Time. And Hudson 29 is no exception. H29 was honestly not on my radar. It's in Upper Arlington (where I rarely go), and I had some preconceived ideas that it was stuffy and highfalutin. But on a random, snowy Monday night, The Mister and I found ourselves in the area and decided to give this place a try. (Pro tip: All CM restaurants use OpenTable for reservations.) Parking was a breeze with ample spots right out front on the street. And when we walked in, all my fears quickly subsided. The interior of Hudson 29 is absolutely gorgeous and right up my alley--dark, lots of warm wood, rich leather, and colorful artwork on the walls. It is a perfect date spot! We were greeted so warmly by the GM, and aside from a bit of confusion over who actually was our server, the service was spectacular. But here's why Hudson 29 knocked this experience out of the park for me: I have this wheat thing, and CM restaurants make gluten-free dining absolutely delightful. I try not to make a big deal out of it, so at most places I end up with an awkward hamburger patty on a pile of lettuce (or something equally as odd). Not here. They have an entire GF menu that's chock full of delicious choices that make me feel like a real person out to dinner. And their servers are all hyper-cognizant of wheat and gluten, so they are extremely helpful in making choices. I had a french dip and a side of fries, and it was pure perfection. The french bread they use is so good I was actually afraid to eat it before making our lovely server double check that it was safe. The beef was tender and juicy, and there was melted cheese in all the right places. The au jus was exactly the right condiment for dipping. For drinks, I started with a French 75, which was perfectly crafted, and then we split a bottled cocktail. Let me repeat that: THEY HAVE HOUSE-MADE BOTTLED COCKTAILS. Ours was a blood orange margarita, and it was tart, just sweet enough, and effervescent. I cannot wait to come back when the weather is warm and sit on their patio and get tipsy on these cocktails. The Mister is a gluten lover, and he liked Hudson 29 about as much as I did. It was just so special for me because they treated ME special--and not like a weirdo that most places do. I would venture to say this is my favorite meal of 2015 so far! read more

There is a sophisticated urbane ambience which one feels from the moment you enter and is consistent with the homage to a NYC restaurant described on the menu. Every CM restaurant has a theme, and so discriminating patrons will neither fault CM's M Restaurant for not having chicken fingers for the kids nor fault Cap City Diner for not having Lemon Chiffon for an elegant dessert. The point is that not all restaurants are suitable for all occasions. Obviously. The service at Hudson 29 was equivalent to CM's high standards. We had thrown the receptionist a major curve when we arrived just in time for our Saturday, 7:15 reservation, fully expecting to be promptly seated. The place was SLAMMED with 4 or 5 parties waiting, the bar and restaurant clearly at capacity. When we presented ourselves, the receptionist did not find our name on the reserved list; she did a a search and discovered that the reservation had been made for a week LATER (clearly my bad); without a pause or indication that it was My Stupid Mistake, she said she was pretty sure we could be seated within 30 minutes...and so we were. BRILLIANT courteous and welcoming treatment by the staff of confused customers who might have been simply turned away. (Under the pressure of the moment, it would have been far easier to have dismissed us!) I've read all the Yelp reviews so far and see that I'm the fifth to comment on the fact that this is a high-decibel eatery. Not merely noisy, I'm talkin' LOUD! So loud, in fact, that it was nearly impossible for my companion and me to have a casual conversation. So loud, in fact, that we had to point at our choices on the menu, because our server wasn't able to hear us. What this suggests is that the diners here were having a raucous good-time. It also suggests that this is exactly according to the preparation and plan of the designer/owners of this establishment and is not a mistake, carelessness, or mismanagement by CM but in accordance with the conceptual intent of it being a High-Energy-Destination, which has to be a point to consider when making dinner plans in the future. But when I'm looking for a serene and romantic dinner destination of CM-destinction, I'll probably select "M" or "Ocean Club" over Hudson 29! Another appreciated feature is the free, adjoining-garage-parking which will be a deal-breaker during Columbus' seasons of crappy weather. read more
