Super nice people, fantastic drinks. Clean as a button. Came in on a Friday night before a show at the Garden Theater in the Short North. Got tired of the disappointing service at Brew Dog, so went in search of something new. Daughter had an espresso martini which must have taken the bartender a solid 5 minutes to make, not because she was slow, but that's the effort she put into it. I had Black Sheep IPA which was very good. We had already had dinner, so no food for us, but I did see some coming out of the kitchen and definitely want to give it a try before the next show. read more

Lots of hype for this, and as a frumpy old man I wasn't sure I'd fit in, but the menu was intriguing and I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in. Ask me about going to the Grapevine not knowing what kind of place it was... Lots on the menu that I wanted to try. I got the crab corn fritters and the tempura cheese curds. Very good, not very healthy- I had tried to go to a salad place but traffic was crazy. Curds are cubes for some reason. Perfectly fried. The fritters are basically upscale hush puppies. Bits of real crab, and corn; less than I'd hoped. Still good. Both had sweet/savory sauces. Two apps was a bit much for me but I didn't arrive starving. Great service. Good music (okay, tunes I know from Kidzbop, but these are the originals.) Place has a very techno but also traditional vibe. Great service. The restrooms are surprisingly somewhat gendered. He/him they/them, and she/her they/them. On the he/him side, the urinals are cut away beer barrels, which are kind of cool. Parking is, well, Short North. I went on a Thursday night and traffic and parking were bad but not horrendous. At peak, good luck. Good experience all in all, casual but swanky atmosphere, good food and service. Let me start off by saying, we are very excited to go back. We went for the Sunday supper club and it just wasn't it. Service was slow and the little things were missed (appetizer plates, food modification's, silverware). The food and the drinks however were delicious; the cheese curds were hands down our favorite thing we tried. The inside is so cute and they did such a great job making this place come to life. The drag show was different than what I am used to. It was advertised to go from 6-10 however the performances started at 6:45 and ended at 7:30. We will definitely be back as we love District West and are so excited for another LGBTQ+ bar/ resturaunt in Columbus. read more

I was super excited to try this place because I love District West and the same owners created this masterpiece. The decor is beautiful. Chandeliers, a disco ball, the sheep pictures... everything is very sleek. Mitch was my server. He was very attentive and quick and nice. I ordered their espresso martini, Wake The F@!$k Up Diva and a fruity cocktail called Daddy Issues. Both fabulous. The espresso martini was amazing. They use a local coffee wholesaler called Brootlegg for it. I love that. For food, I ordered their smashburger minus mayo with their house fries. It was so, so, so good. I would definitely order it again and again. Pictures of most of the menu is below. They have a wide range of different liquors and wines. Happy hour with discounted food and drinks. And brunch is coming in a few weeks. I will be back with friends to try out their brunch menu. I went to Black Sheep last night for happy hour and will definitely be going back for happy hour and for their brunch on the weekend. First of all this is a very beautiful restaurant. I was drawn to the Black Sheep artwork on the walls, the exposed brick, and the beautiful bars.There was plenty of seating with both booth and high table options and seating at the bar. My espresso martini was delicious, strong but not overpowering. And my smash burger and fries were delicious. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Service was awesome. And Daddy Issues (the cocktail) was great! I also liked the crab and corn fritters, although I wasn't impressed with the avocado lime crema thingy on there. Now, for the entrees, I wasn't a huge fan to be honest. My Great Lake Ho' Boy (pictured) was okay. While I appreciate the bread being toasted/fried, it was too dry. Sweet potato fries were good but little soggy. We also got the shrimp and chorizo linguine: the pasta was overcooked and did not mix with the sauce very well. I would probably like it more if it was a meat pie instead. read more

Came on a Monday evening in December. It was a great experience. There was no wait time, we were seated immediately. We had the pleasure of being waited on by Silver, extremely helpful and accommodating. We were explained the happy hour specials and menu in detail. The house cocktails were a little too lively for the men in our party. They requested old fashioned's (wasn't on the menu) and the bar delivered; their drinks came out in smoker boxes with a fresh plume of smoke. The food was amazing. We shared wing and crab ball appetizers. Not a complaint on any of the entrees ordered from our party of four. Went to try it out during an OSU football game, they had a DJ to play music during commercials- however after halftime never went sound up on the game. Drinks were good, our server Blake was great and attentive! Food was alright: we started with nachos that had good queso on it( could have been layered better with it- lots of naked chips). Smash burger and med pizza were good, grilled chicken wrap was underwhelming: dry chicken (not even warm so I assume pre cooked, same with the bacon on it), fries were good but leaning on the too salty side. We ordered the Black Sheep Chicken Salad and it arrived as a full plate of food, rather than some of the scrawny salads we have had while travelling around the States. The dressing was really good, the salad very fresh and the chicken was cooked to perfection. For a bar, we were really impressed as we expected run of the mill bar food - this was definitely not. We have been travelling around the US since the start of September and I've had various salads in many places from Chicago, to Oklahoma and Florida to Nashville and they beat them all here! The staff were great - the guy who served us was really friendly and polite. The atmosphere and environment was good. I imagine on a Friday night this place will buzz with life. Black Sheep Review Disclaimer: This was my personal experience. Just because it didn't meet my expectations doesn't mean it won't meet yours. At first glance, Black Sheep delivers on atmosphere and presentation : plates arrive looking refined, cocktails gleam with balance and artistry. Unfortunately, that's where the promise ends. The Steak Frites, ordered medium-rare, was served medium-well. Sweet potato fries were limp, artichoke leaves inedible, and the peppercorn jus leaned cloyingly sweet. Dessert, The Big Finish, promised a salty-sweet interplay but delivered only heavy, sugar-forward cookies dominated by chocolate chunks. My personal experience curator (waiter) compounded the disappointment. Long stretches without attention, uncleared glasses, and an uneven level of management engagement left the impression that some guests received priority while others were overlooked. The cocktails are flawless : inventive, polished, and worth the visit. But when the bar outshines both kitchen and service by this wide a margin, the experience feels unbalanced. Overall: a striking letdown from a restaurant that looks the part but doesn't deliver where it matters most. The food disappointed, but the subtle racial disregard turned the evening into something worse: a reminder that not all diners are treated equally. Jasper was the saving grace of the team, offering the kind of attentiveness and care my assigned experience curator management team never did. I will not be returning to dine. Suggestions: A mystery shopper and a customer experience expert would do this restaurant well ; not to fix the cocktails, but to uncover why consistency, care, and respect aren't reaching every table. I live in the neighborhood and tried Black Sheep for the first time Wednesday night. Great happy hour deals including food, shareables and cocktails. Lychee Me Out and the Wake The F*** Up Diva were outstanding. Service was great, thanks to CJ as well as the food runners and the rest of staff. Shoutout to Trinity behind the bar killing it as well. We shared the Ahi Tacos and my friends had a couple pizzas and I had the chicken wrap. You guys have to try this place. Such a fresh and fun rendition of what used to be in the space. IG advertised that you could hear the game, but the DJ kept playing music during the second half of the OSU/OU game. Also, at least one TV should have kept showing the Georgia/Tenn game that went into OT. And to make matters worse, the pizza had a very odd taste. Almost like the cheese was bad. And even though the specialty drinks are premade, they could not customize a drink that I requested that was similar to the specials.
